Constitutional attorney and talk show host Dr Mark Levin was outraged by the latest Special Education Komment from Keith Olbermann. To say that Dr Levin pulled no punches would be like saying the Chicago fire was a bit on the warm side. Here, for your listening pleasure, is an hour of Levin's righteous indignation condensed into nine blistering minutes:
NOTE: Don't miss Laura Ingraham's reaction to Oralmann's latest disgrace, or Dennis Prager's meticulous deconstruction of Keithy's hate speech and lies. Also, Newbusters transcribes and reacts to Mark Levin.
Transcript from NB below the fold:
Let me tell you, this guy is really the scum of the earth...Hey Olbermann, I said you're the scum of the earth. And you know damn well what I'm talking about. [...]
This is the highest rated guy on MSNBC because he's taken up a radical position which one of his girlfriends wrote me and said he doesn't even believe, but does it, and he does it for ratings, because he knows there are nutjobs out there who will tune him in. But this is over the line. [...]
I'm calling on MSNBC to suspend Keith Olbermann because in the middle of a war, I don't think a phony journalist should be able to use his position to give aid and comfort to the enemy, and worse than that even, to smear the American GI. [...]
"Cold-blooded killers who will kill people to achieve their political objectives." That's how you view the uniform? You're a disgrace. Why are on you on MSNBC? I ask General Electric, "What is this man doing on your network?" [...]
I believe in firing his ass! Why have boycotts and censorship? Fire his ass! And yet, I'm compassionate. I said, "At least, suspend him. Let's meet halfway on this." And I'll tell you why. If in World War II, Tokyo Rose were given a format like MSNBC night after night to undermine the American GI, to give aid and comfort to the terrorists, to pander to the worst elements of American society, to become a propagandist for the enemy, it would not have been tolerated. It's not as if Keith Olbermann brings anything to the table. He's a very dumb guy. He's not qualified to be a newscaster. He's not qualified to hold serious opinions, and that's why he relies on the Daily Kos, a Media Matters, leftwing Democrat operatives for his talking points each and every night. But for MSNBC, and NBC, and GE to prop this guy up and give him a soapbox, I'm sorry. He is the anti-soldier. This isn't an academic matter where we're debating some issue of import, but not an issue of life and death, but he is the mouthpiece, the prominent mouthpiece for our enemy. If you're going to call our soldiers cold-blooded killers who kill people to achieve their political objectives, then you're excrement. You're absolute excrement.[...]
Spitting on the American soldier. You think that's a good thing? You think that's entertainment? You think that's great for this country? I don't expect you to suppot the President. Great. But I do expect you to treat the troops with respect That's correct. [...]
How is it that only the liberals can make issues out of things they want to make issues out of when they're offended? Here we have a guy smearing hundreds of thousands of American soldiers, calling them cold-blooded killers who kill people to achieve their political objectives. I mean, what is this? [...]
NBC clings to this bitter, little know-nothing because he gets ratings from the far left in this country. The hate America, commie-left. They tell everybody, "Watch Olbermann, watch Olbermann." And so he plays to them, he panders to them. I see the hair-splitting going on. The fact is, if he were to compare any American to al Qaeda terrorists, it's so over the top. And yet to do it in the context of the United States military. I know what he's talking about. I'm not going to have the spin fly here, I can tell you that. It is so grotesque. And I am demanding that MSNBC say something about this, do something about this because Keith Olbermann is basically Tokyo Rose in a suit.
Well folks, the man has more than a valid point... So like i asked last night on the Laura Ingraham thread, what can be done, seriously, to get this piece of crap with legs off the air, or at the very least, suspended?
How'd they do it with Imus??? The sponsors pulled right? Well, can that be done in this case? Will the sponsors respond to a group, a large group, if enough light is properly brought to this horrid case of a left wing nut gone crazy on air?
Can it be done?
Wow, like minds KOlby! I just posted the same thing over at News Busters before coming here. You beat me to it.
He wasn't on Friday, there was some dude guest hosting by the name of Rachel Maddow which is a weird name for a guy - but I digress. I Tivo'd the Thurs. show for just such a movement and will make my first ad list here later.
Let's see where we can go from there if that's alright with Johnny.
Hey guys, I know Scott has been thinking along those lines by the comments he's made here and for many years I have refused to spend my money as much as I can so that I don't support industries that instigate or underwrite this type of garbage.
To be honest I don't think that much can be done from our point of view b/c we don't have the MSM whipping every little faux pas into a frothy frenzy. Lets face it, very few people pay close attention to news and political analysis but rather depend on the repetitive airing of the liberal outrage du jour on all the MSM outlets for their news.
I also noticed that Cee made a comment along the lines of each individual taking action as far as they could.
Grammie
Have at it!
CountDung, and you beat me to wanting to post at NB on this very subject. Naturally they're not as focused on Olby as OW is, but as I've very much learned since visiting the site for a good bit now, they're hardly his greatest fans either.
And its funny you bring up RM... I sometimes think that if Olby was canned I wouldn't care if they put any other far left nut bag in, just as long as he's out. But I can see RM pissing me off just as much as BTB does.
And Grammie, you definitely have a point but he's made plenty of mistakes in his career, let alone lately. We're all well versed on them but at what point should we, if ever, take a stand when he just goes overboard like he did with the troops? You know he'll have something snarky or pissy to say on Monday night because being a child he has to lash back at those that dare disagree with him.
The first thing that make sponsers shudder with fear is negative press...Although Levin and Ingraham have large audiences, the press I am talking about is "Good Morning America," etc.....Al Sharpton was the reason Imus was booted...he called for it and he called for the sponsers to pull out...he got the face time, even interviews and that's what gets the ball rolling for the number-crunchers at the networks to start worrying...
I have written to NBC NEWS countless times about Olbermann's bias. I will write to them about this. No harm to me, little effort. At least it's something. I know it won't change their cynical behavior, but at least someone has registered my argument and one less regular viewer for the entire NBC NEWS franchise.
But serious action to stop them using Olbermann as a marginal success on a basically failed cable news netwoork will take celebrity power and sustained effort. I will help in anyway I can but the realist concludes that without the MSM coming down on him, he will continue his hate-filled anti-America propaganda until his small audience no longer needs the entertainment.
BTW...I am a regular listener of Imus...he has made it a point to note which sponsors have stayed with him and which have not...it is part of his schtick, and it can get very funny...
The same with the guests...McCain was his first guest and since returning to air most politicians have come back...even Kerry, Dodd and other dems, even Jesse Jackson. Both conservative and liberal alike have been on since the change...Maureen Dowd, Pat Buchanan, Mary Matalin, Frank Rich, Chris Wallace, Howard Kurtz, James Carville, Tom Friedman, Lou Dobbs, Andy Rooney, Craig Crawford, George Stephanopoulos, Neil Cavuto, Laura Ingraham, Bob Schieffer, etc...
The funny thing is that the NBC NEWS people are the ones who abandoned Imus (with the exception of Tim Russert)...Gregory, Brokaw, Williams etc....There is not a true TV Network affiliation, although he is on WABC RADIO here in NYC.
Even after Imus' big apology, change in format and even today, he still says how his comment was stupid and hurtful....Still, those jokers from NBC NEWS don't have the courage or class to call in.
I do not want Olby pulled off the air. He serves a purpose. Olby is a true representative of the unhinged, wacko left that is the heart and soul of liberalism. To watch Countdown is to see exposed, in all of its glory, the collective unconscious of the mental disorder that liberalism is. It's like seeing a bloody wound in their souls.
I might be the only one who thinks this, but I don't see how he meant US troops are cold-blooded killers. But, I also can't tell who he meant. Cold-blooded killers who "kill people to achieve their political objectives"? How do soldiers have political objectives? He might have been talking about people in W's administration, but who in W's admin has killed anybody, much less to achieve political objectives?
Of course, I'm only going on the 2 sentences from the first of the video. After the idiocy of Rosie offending the troops (who are the terrorists?) last year, and Olbermann spinning "Oh she meant the Bush administration" it's possible he meant the troops but I give him a pass on this one.
Listen to the just-posted Dennis Prager clip and see if that changes your mind.
The anger and hatred on the Left just astounds me. Almost 8 years of Chimpy McBushitler, blah blah blah is bad enough from the Kos kids, and honestly I could care less if the Randy Rhodes of the world want to spew that nonsense.
Its the prominent role that NBC has put KO in as debate moderator and host of their political coverage (with Matthews), much less as newscast anchor (their words).
One would think the holder of those roles would be objective, but not at NBC. Instead, they foist on us Keith Olbermann, who's nightly rantings are becoming more and more the nationally broadcast version of a lunatic Youtube rant.
