Journalists are supposed to assess credibility of a news source....An author of a book wants the book to sell for personal reasons....economic benefit and...so I ask...how do these authors (and the journalists who inteview them around the time their books are released) account for this influence in the assessment of their credibility?.....
For the last several years, it seems, there is no assessment.
And Olbermann interviewing McClellan is yet another example of how ideology trumps integrity...AN EXAMPLE....MikeH, who defends McClellan without even reading the book, would have NEVER taken McClellan at his word previously but now that he is critical of Bush, he is credible......Wow....what a way to assess credibility!
I will quote Michelle Malkin with a logical observation:
"Reader Kevin B. e-mails what McClellan said in his press briefing on March 22, 2004 when asked about Richard Clarke’s book blasting the Bush Administration for 9/11 and CIA intelligence failures:
"MR. McCLELLAN: Well, why, all of a sudden, if he (Richard Clarke) had all these grave concerns, did he not raise these sooner? This is one-and-a-half years after he left the administration. And now, all of a sudden, he’s raising these grave concerns that he claims he had. And I think you have to look at some of the facts. One, he is bringing this up in the heat of a presidential campaign. He has written a book and he certainly wants to go out there and promote that book.

Yep...MONEY and FAME drives all of this and those who served in government and turn around to write a book for profit and TV face time should be judged on that simple formula....
The real victim of all of this is the truth....I will read McClellan's book to see what proof and corroboration he has in his accusations and I likely will close the cover feeling like I did with "Against All Enemies," (and so many others that seem to come out in EVEN years (you know....NATIONAL ELECTION YEARS!)....the book was nothing more than OPINION and CONJECTURE....and a waste of my time..... fortunately these books are usually written on the level of about 6th grade reading level and take only a day or so to read (like Olbermann's garbage)....not much time wasted!
