Welcome to the Twilight Zone: Democrats Slam MSNBC's Far-Left Bias

How far left do you need to move before even Democrats are criticizing you for being unfair and unbalanced? Certainly OlbyWatch readers know that Keith is unbalanced but now even Lanny Davis - a Democratic Party stalwart who practically lived on MSNBC during Keith's first go around and the failed cable news network - is sharpening the knives by announcing that he now refuses to appear on Countdown with Olbermann or Hardball with Matthews.

Davis told The Hill's Betsy Rothstein he "would not go on either Olbermann or Matthews ever". The Hill report, courtesy of Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters, reveals Davis spoken with MSNBC management about the blatant bias of the network:

Davis says he spoke with a "member of senior MSNBC management" who "told me personally that they were aware that they needed to do something to bring credibility back to MSNBC in terms of balance."

The former Clinton adviser points to MSNBC hosts Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann as culprits. Though he says he personally likes the men, citing a 25-year-old friendship with Matthews, he thinks their shows are deplorably one-sided.

What's funny is that the Dems believe they are going to unify the party by November. LOLOLOL! You can count of the fact that if the Clintons are scorned then there will be blood. And we can clearly see that in play. Bubba and Hil are capable of doing far more damage to the Dems than Operation Chaos. Of course, the Obamas give them a lot of material to work with.

Credibility won't come back
Their bias is way out of whack
Senior management spoke
NBC is a joke
And their cable "news" networks are hack

It seems to me that if you're Hillary your strategy right now has to be more long-term. This idea in the media that she does not realize that she can't win the nomination is ironic considering that for going on 20 years we've heard that her husband is the greatest politician of his generation. How can Bill be such a great politician and not be able to (a) count votes; (b) explain the outcome to wife. Of course, Hillary can count too. So if she knows she's lost then what's her plan?

How about this? She still intends to be president and Plan B is to run again in 2012. If you are planning on winning in 2012 what do you want to see happen from this point forward? Either an Obama loss in November so she can run against McCain when he is up for a second term or an Obama win but a failed presidency. Anything else puts her out to pasture until 2016 at the earliest. If the far-left takes full control of the Democratic party there is no way she can win the nomination in 2012 so she needs to marginalize the far-left NOW. What she will do is what is in her interest and what is in her interest is to be seen as supporting the party but having pointed out all along that Obama is not a good general election candidate. If he loses then she is in a position to say "I told you so" if he wins she can say she helped get him elected. I would also say she might just have an August surprise up her sleeve. Who knows but imagine a scenario where she has accumulated every last elected delegate she could get and thereby gotten herself pretty darn close to the number needed to secure the nomination. Having maxed out that number she goes into the convention just a few hundred delegates shy of the nomination. Of course, Obama goes in with more elected delegates and enough committed super-delegates that it is HIS convention at which he will be put over the top by those committed super-delegates on the first ballot. Except a funny thing happens on the way to that first ballot - some skeleton comes lunging out of Obama's closet. What would happen? It seems to me if it were a scary enough skeleton the super-delegates would feel justified in reneging on their commitment. Now, with Hillary having played out the string in West Virginia, Oregon, Puerto Rico, etc. she's got all those additional elected delegates she would otherwise not have had. In fact, now she does not all that many super-delegates to break from Obama. She sits in her hotel room waiting and, if she's played it right, the party elders offer her the nomination. Of course, this fantasy presupposes that the Clinton's would have stored up some particularly nasty bit of oppo research on Obama and we all know that is not something the Clintons would dream of doing.


I woud love to see Lanny D go on the hour of spin to call olbyonesidedkanoby out on his shilling for obama. It seems that Lanny would want to go on. I'm fairly certain olby would be the 'loser' in this match in any case.

Meanwhile, I'm glad that the prospect of Bill Clinton sitting around in the White House with nothing to do might be fading a little.

Duh?....1998....Impeachment passes The US House of Representatives and what does Clinton Co. do?....They carry on and put the nation through an additional 6 months of stupidity and lies over a grown man's embarrasment to admit be commited sodomy on an intern in The Oval Office!

The rationailization of those who supported Clinton Co. then never addressed the simple selfishness of someone who lied right at the camera to the American people over a stupid affair.

Of course The Clintons care first and foremost about their own political legacy!

So does SNOBamessiah! He abandoned his great unity speech on American race relations after PA showed he may actually lose the nomination because of his ties to Wright and black liberation theology! No one mentions the speech anymore and this shows how easy it is for politicians like him to leave principle behind for political viability.

This is all what it is about, dear Mike...inculding your savior and elitist, Pope Obama! Please give me a break!

The very far left is angling for power in The Democratic Party and their vitriol against HRC is not going unnoticed....She will speak support for SNOBamessiah, but only in great support if she is VP and her campaign debt is taken care of by him, just wait.....it is going to be an interesting GE.....

Read kos and find out what they think of the Democratic Leadership Council (DNC)....the moderate organization is ANATHEMA to the kooky left and this is all a part of their plan to move the party so far to the left that this period of disfavor the Republicans are seeing will be very brief and the reaction to the left's radicalism will be severe....

Nevermind the nation has never been able to afford what the left really wants in spending and that the trillions already waisted since The Great Society has destroyed generations of Americans.

HRC sees herself as pitted against the most radical components of her party, and that includes SNOBamessiah....look at her language about "white hardworking Americans" this past week, for goodness sake!...Is this the rhetoric of someone who feels her opponent is what is best for our country?....Is this the rehetoric of someone planning to give-up and simply support someone because it is good for the country (very debatable)?

It is going to be VP and her campaign debt covered from SNOBamessiah or a very tepid and quiet Madam Hillary during the GE....Many of her supporters are Reagan Democrats and the older generation and they may just take a good look at McCain and see someone who is not so radical as what the academic/wealthy liberals, the finiky college crowd and the African Americans in the democrat primary went with....

These are real people with real values that SNOBamessiah does not share....a la San Francisco....The center being uder attack from the far left does not bode well for moderate democrats or the country and I am relieved some in The Democratic Party understand this.....even if they are the narcissistic and well-known low-class Clintons.

Those of us who do not see America as a hegemonic demon in the world, or do not always see bogeymen/women in corporate America looking to destroy the very country their families and friends love so much, or do not willfully skew everything in terms of "class," "gender," or "race," but see America as the place of opportunity and compassion it has always strived to be, or do not envy or fear those around us who have succeeded and thrived because of hardwork, intelligence and/or ingenuity but want to help those truly deserving of help because of circumstances not of their own doing....we are happy to see the struggles moderates are having in the Democratic Party as their former heroes, The Clintons, face the agony of defeat for the first time in decades....

What a difference 8 years makes.

I don't know if MikeH's admiration for Hillary has faded, or if he was never in her camp in the first place. But I DO know that his repeated slamming of Olbermann Watch has yet to be addressed. He's been claiming that OlbyWatch was wrong for revealing that Keith Olbermann had been behind Clinton for months until the Kossacks convinced him to jump ship for Obama. How could we possibly come to such a conclusion, MikeH wanted to know.

Of course on Friday, Olbermann admitted on air that he had been supporting Hillary all that time. Meaning that, as usual, the perceptive, insightful analysis of OlbyWatch was right, and MikeH was wrong. I would think at this point an apology from MikeH would be in order to both OlbyWatch and to our clear-headed readers who saw Olbermann for what he was.

Yes, MikeH...look at the May 9th thread and address the PROOF that Olbermann used to support HRC...in his own words.

What a fickle little group Olbermann and his fellow travelers are...to use an Olbermann term "Throwing Clinton under the bus," and all that could mean in November, is very telling to the honor and honesty of many like Olbermann.

Nevermind that journalists (who fashion themselves the heir to Edward R. Murrow) are not supposed to be for ANYONE.

When a Democrat wants "to bring credibility back to MSNBC in terms of balance" that sounds to me like he's talking about balance between Hillary and Obama, not the Right and Left. Like I've said before, MSNBC and Olbermann, and now Abrams, have found their niche market: Bush haters.

If MSNBC ever did move to fair treatment of both the parties and all their officials and elected politicians from both sides I think the Dems would storm the studios and take captives.

As always Mike you've trotted out your own assumptions in lieu of "argument".

We know YOU assume that a last ditch effort against Obama is tantamount to hurting the country but why would Hillary? Why would Hillary supporters who think she's the greatest thing since sliced bread for the ole U.S. of A.?

Why would it be "selfish" for her to expose a "skeleton" in Obama's closet at the moment when it would be most effective, if said "skeleton" IS something that might keep a compromised and less talented candidate from gaining office?

No, you don't Ascribe ill-motives to Hillary, you just ascribe to her (and everyone else) your own sensibilities and then suggest that when people act counter to those sensibilities that they are obviously up to no good. A prime example of how you do that to the Olbermann critics is that you have REPEATEDLY labeled this site a "hate site", a HIGHLY pejorative and damaging term which generally connotes sites which foment racial or ethnic hatred and violence.
