Here's another Olbylink. And to think, he could have been a CBS moonbat. Apparently CBS suits have slightly more brains than MSNBC suits.

Interesting piece in the New Yorker on Olbermann:

I think piece accurately reflects the problem MSNBC has in this guy. Olbermann would never be tolerated or taken seriously by the media elite if he were going after a Democratic Administration with such personal vehemence and he'd certainly be less tolerated by them had the aftermath of the Iraq War been less difficult and brutal. Yet even with all the bases covered-- an unpopular Republican president, Olbermann is an iffy bet for MSNBC at best.
This is a guy who is inveterately unable to keep HIMSELF (his being) at bay. Matthews may be an "out of control sprinkler" as Olbermann says, but Olbermann is a continual fly in the ointment. Olbermann may be more wary and savvy than Matthews (in the sense that he manages himself at work like he's a third world potentate sitting on the last diamond mine), but the pressure of his egotism is a CONSTANT and is ultimately corrosive.
Even when doing the coverage of Russert's death, Olbermann could not take himself out of the picture. The World According to Keith Olbermann was more subtly conveyed than usual, of course, but it was conveyed none the less. When introducing clips of condolences from prominent people, he scowled and introduced McCain's comment as "McCain's sound". When mentioning Russert's wife as being a writer for Vanity Fair (editorially pro-Clinton) he said VAIN-ity Fair several times.
He may like sports, but he's not a team player by any means. As we've seen with the Big Show, this guy (unlike Matthews) will take his ball and go straight to the bathtub. MSNBC best hope is that the sun continues to shine gently on Obama's face and that the rain falls softly on his political fields and that Olbermann need never provide one second's energy to being a journalist covering Obama as politician-- to covering Obama in ANY sense other than blissful allegory. Otherwise, for MSNBC, it's game over.
Bob your link for Newsbusters is wrong. I think it should be .org or something.
Cecelia,
Excellent commentary. Thanks.
If Matthews is an "out of control sprinkler," Olbermann is an out of control high pressure hose.
Thanks, ramjet! The whole country has been hosed by Olbermann... :D
senior vice-president in charge of MSNBC Phil Griffin says of Olbermann: "I mean, the guy is crazy."
Is that why in the very next paragraph Jimmy Legs Olbermann says, “I have been accused of having an obsession with [O'Reilly]. I am a minor-leaguer compared to his obsession with me.”
huh? O'Reilly NEVER mentions Olbermann, while Keith mentions Bill-O every single show! That is serious delusion. And it's not always mocking him, sometimes Keith looks like he's seriously going to cry if Fox doesn't fire Bill.
"Why does he still have a JOB?!"
Apparently KO has been posting at DKos today and the troops at DU are not all happy. But my favorite is the one who explains he is "cruising the internet while he is mourning" because he is looking for stories for tomorrow's show.

Someone want to explain what he meant in the bit about Sklar coming to the Countdown anniversary party? What the hell was he suggesting?
Sidenote...the 'preview' feature doesn't work for me. Anyone else having the same problem?
The preview is broken. It does not work for anyone.
Bob, the News Buster's links work now. They had some problem that has now been corrected.
