Despite the best hopes of OlbyLoons everywhere - and the false and misleading statements of officials at MSNBC - Olbermann Watch has obtain a certified (literally signed, sealed and delivered) tax warrant for Olbermann Broadcasting Empire, Inc.
A full PDF version can be viewed here: Currently Outstanding, Certified Tax Warrant for Olbermann Broadcasting Empire, Inc.
This is a PDF scan of the original, currently in our possession, which has been signed by Thomas G. Clingan, Clerk of Albany County and bears the seal of the County of Albany, New York. Readers will notice the certified warrant is dated 3rd day of June 2008 which flatly contradicts claims by MSNBC that the matter was "resolved".
And this deadbeat thinks we should be paying more in taxes. His business can afford tax attorneys, How many small ones can't...
I still chuckle over the immature egotism expressed in OLBERMANN BROADCASTING EMPIRE INC.
OLBERMANN BROADCASTING EMPIRE conjures up images of Olbermann in a Darth Vader helmet.
My Blog name is in respect to an Emperor. Olbermann you are no Emperor!
Sefton,
Darth Vader had more class than Olbermann.
"And this deadbeat thinks we should be paying more in taxes."
The official stand that he publicy backs is that people such as himself, who can afford it, should be paying more in taxes, while the vast majority of Americans should not.
The issue that Olbermann's corporation might owe some back taxes is immaterial to that point of view. Meanwhile, we can all rest assured that KO's attorneys will take care of the matter....or they will take care of him.
Thats how it works.
"The official stand that he publicy backs is that people such as himself, who can afford it, should be paying more in taxes, while the vast majority of Americans should not."
It is Olbermann's official stand? I have never heard him say that.
And.....Why "should be," MikeH.....
Do you know for a fact that Keith Olbermann has tried to pay more in taxes....I know the goverenment would not refuse it. All he has to do is send them a check. He seems to have trouble paying what is expected of him....let alone what his (and your's) silly leftist redistribution system is in theory.
Olbermann, and his leftist friends, have never stated they would pay more in taxes while I could pay less. I wonder where you get this propaganda from, MikeH?....it tastes so sweet.....like fruit punch!
Is it like SNOBamessiah's silly idea to double the capital gains tax?
Oh, and MikeH...is this another tax idea from the left that will help people?.....
"Obama says he would impose oil windfall profits tax"
http://tinyurl.com/6kfpyh
What will that do to the price of gasoline, MikeH?....Will it lower the price?....Where do companies get their money to pay their taxes?
Is this pandering to voters, MikeH?
Since when do journalists have "official stands" on tax policy?
Hi I'm Tim, and I'm an alc-er I'm a new member.
I hope you are going to have that framed, and maybe you can sell it for charity after Olby gets indicted.
@ Sefton: Wouldn't owning an empire make him..the emperor? http://tinyurl.com/3kq4p6
Robert,
Whoever implied Olbermann is a journalist?
LOL!
I like the Darth Vader helmet idea, but I doubt Olby's head would fit.
Could you picture what Olby whoul be like if this were Oreilly? Just more proof of what hypocrats the left are.
Hey I have a prediction, after monitoring Think Progress I predict that Ed Hill and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) will be named Worst Persons. Stay tuned.
How about I make a photoshop Olbermann as Dark Helmet from Spaceballs. I'll put the caption: OLBERMANN BROADCASTING EMPIRE underneath it. I'll send it to Robert or J$, would be pretty funny.
Countdung,
Do it! Please! He's not Vader, he's Dark Helmet!
"or they will take care of him."MikeH
Who..you mean KO's Lawyers will off him if he doesn't pay?..man those are some tough Lawyers. LOL!!
But you do have to love the hypcracy of Libs like KO and Al Franklen who preach higher taxes for the "rich"and don't even pay the ones that exist now..well I guess they can affforf to call for higher taxes..because they don't plan on paying those either.
Olby's "Empire" is striking back
Tax Commissioner wants his jack
Tax warrant mailed
They should have jailed
The slovenly political hack
MikeH,
How many employees does the Supreme Broadcasting Empire of the All-mighty, Infallable Olbermann have? What are its assets, other than the Awe-inspring, Omniscent Intellect of the Olber-Mann?
I'd hardly call KO's hiding behind a corporation, whether it be his own or MSNBC, irrelevant. It's not a publicly held corporation. It's KO. The fact that he doesn't feel the need to pay his taxes in a timely manner is extremely relevant. The fact that he allowed MSNBC to publicly state "'This was a bookkeeping disagreement between Keith's accountants and the state which was resolved months ago,'an MSNBC spokesman told Page Six." (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/02/keith-olbermann-owes-thou_n_104623.html)
MONTHS AGO? June 3rd is hardly months ago. In fact, its just the day after MSNBC's denial of this story.
I think now we need to ask, "What did MSNBC know and when did they know it?" And what kind of arrogance, incompetence, dishonesty, or out-right illegal tendencies would prompt KO to allow this to go unresolved after even HuffPo wrote on this? Surely, KO $2200 and change laying around to pay his taxes, right?
"I think now we need to ask, "what did MSNBC know and when did they know it?"
Why? Seems to me that is a question for the tax courts to resolve and not MSNBC.
Or would you prefer that your own employer get involved and fire you if you were to make the mistake of underpaying your taxes one year?
underpaying your taxes one year?
mikeh
LOL! The spinmaster/apologist!
"LOL! The spinmaster/apologist!"
I didn't 'apologize' or 'spin' anything. I simply used an apt analogy that demonstrates it is a matter for the courts to resolve with Keith....and not MSNBC. In addition, an unresolved tax warrant is neither proof of guilt, nor is it an admission of guilt...and finally, it is never evidence of intentional underpayment or evasion.
OS, your never ending expressions of complete ignorance about the law, history, and The Constitution, coupled with your distorted definitions of patriotism never fail to hurt your own side's arguments.
Thanks, Einstein!
MikeH,
If my employer were a major "news" organization, and made a statement to the media regarding my "mistake of underpaying your taxes one year" (one year? do you even read the site before you comment???) I think its a reasonable to ask if they were lying when they made the statement.
I also think, were I a "journalist", its reasonable to ask if said news organization reported a misstatement because I lied to them.
"(A)n unresolved tax warrant is neither proof of guilt, nor is it an admission of guilt...and finally, it is never evidence of intentional underpayment or evasion."
"...which was resolved months ago,'an MSNBC spokesman told Page Six."
Misstated? Lie? or relaying a lie? Regardless, it once again speaks to the credibility of MSNBC.
Scott,
Did I miss something while I've been traveling?
Where did this quote come from ""(A)n unresolved tax warrant is neither proof of guilt, nor is it an admission of guilt...and finally, it is never evidence of intentional underpayment or evasion."
BTW, it seems to me that MikeH has a point here. I don't really see the issue as to whether or not the judgement against Keith has been vacated or satisfied. So it really doesn't matter what MSNBC says or when exactly Keith "resolved" the matter. The more important point is that Keith did what any other high net worth individual would do in setting up a corporation in order to reduce his tax burden. We don't know know WHY Keith did not pay these taxes. What we do know is that Keith has hired professionals to do whatever he can do to pay as little tax as possible. This is perfectly rationale. The problem for Keith is something I've said before - it shows both his hypocrisy and the fact that Keith knows full well that people like him have lots of way to avoid, defer or reduce taxes and that it has always been the case that when you "raises taxes on the rich" the rich respond by making changes to how they shield themselves from taxes and therefore they never quite end up paying those taxes.
What bothers me about this situation is that it seems a NEWS organization is not being honest. Either it's been resolved or it's not. Since the state of NY says it is not i'd be prone to go with them. If they've made an error I will gladly take back my words and change my opinion. Untill then I feel MSNBC is lying and willing to risk their integrity to protect this guy. That also raises the question - what else are they willing to lie about?
Sorry Robert, been away as well. That quote is from MikeH himself earlier in this thread.
I do have to disagree slightly though. To me, it does matter when the cable arm of NBC News puts out a statement (through a "spokesman", not an "insider" or a "source") something as blatently untrue as "This was a bookkeeping disagreement between Keith's accountants and the state which was resolved months ago" one should question the accuracy of the rest of their reporting.
Otherwise I agree with you points.
