"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests: TBA
It's casual Friday at Olbermann Watch, and we're assuming the infamous, deporable one will be sitting on the OlbyPlanet throne to pilot The Hour of Spin. We're trying something a little different tonight.
You write the recap! Comments are open, as before. And we invite all our clear-headed readers to watch the program and post their comments to each segment. Point out any lies you catch, any Oralmann blunders, examples of sock-puppetry, unfair attacks...the usual stuff from Monkeymann and Company. Then we'll check out the comments, and the best, most insightful, funniest etc will be added to the main post, with full credit to the commenters responsible.
This really is You write the recap! Your chance to be an Olbermann Watch blogger without all the muss and fuss. Our first reader-written recap follows:
It was quintessential life on Olbyplanet with EJ Dionne. It's almost like James Tiberious Kirk beaming down with Mr. Spock on Olbyplanet, and all Mr Spock can say is "Illogical Captain." In this segment, Olby actually tried to build a case that McCain was moving towards the Obama strategy in both Iraq and Afghanistan !! Huh? Tricorder reading Mr. Spock !! WTF is Olby trying to say? That McCain is moving towards an Obama strategy? Spock, Bones, Scotty. UHURA....Beam me up !!!
Then we had a "STOP the TIVO" Moment !! What was Krazy Keith saying when invoking the name of Ron Goldman and Time Horizon in his discussion with Dionne?? Is he pimping out another dead guy for a laugh??
In tonight's Buuuuuushed segment, if became clear the Olby "mails in" this section of the show courtesy of his leftist minions. Blind Faith being the key words here....Olby has clearly outsourced this segment to 1 or 2 intern resources where they clearly feed him the rip and read the headlines from the blue blogs. If you look at Crazy Legs carefully during this segment, you can easily tell that he is seeing this recycled leftist-dung for the 1st time as he spews it.....now first person....from the teleprompter. --Quads
I can only take a minute here and a minute there with Lazy Leg. The two segments I caught was the World Stopping Breaking News about Gramm quiting. Keithy basically took credit for it by saying, "exactly one month to the day in which we broke the news about Gramm's Enron ties . . . he was forced to step down."
Later in the program, Keithy named O`Rielly WPITW for taking credit for people driving less (therefore driving down gas prices.) Apparently, its wrong for a "journalist" to take credit for things happening (like driving down gas prices or forcing a Presidential co-chairman out.) Hypocrite! --SB_Mich
In the Media Matters Minute, BOR was Worser. Worst was Swift Boat veteran Bud Day. I'd rather talk about horse jockey Pat Day, or Doris Day. Worse was some airline passenger. Let's focus on the Olbsession.
"Bill-O the Clown!" [ding the ding!] O'Reilly "invented an imaginary publication" during the France boycott. "Bill-O"! [ding!] "The Frank Burns of news." [ding!] "Big league delusion of grandeur." Hysterical Ted Baxter voice used (that never gets old) reading quote of Mr. Bill in last night's Reality Check segment on "The Factor." Pouty snark followed: "Billy thinks people tune in every night for instructions! (laughing in background.) (smirk): Now, the problem you've created for yourself here, sir, is that now (grinning grit): if the price of a gallon of gas stays more or less the same, or it goes up, (finger point) it's your a**. (more laughing from staff.)" More suggestive dialogue from Keith TV-14 Olbermann. It's sad that the staff actually finds Monkeymann so amusing, and further sad that around a million total viewers (400,000-500,000 in the demo) feel the same way. And that was that. I don't care about the rest.
Unfortunately, I cannot link to video because FOXNews.com does not have it up. For now, folks, here's the BillOReilly.com summary of Reality Check. --Mike C
Summary, by Katy Turic:
Olby can't keep track of his lies
Dumb rebuttals cannot disguise
That his lies are bald faced
From his mouth solid waste
And false claims that logic defies

Unfortunately, I cannot link to video because FOXNews.com does not have it up. I ran into the same problem when I wanted video of the Howard Wolfson segment. Do you have video of either segment, Johnny? I signed up at RedLasso just to find it, but I have yet to get a registration e-mail.
For now, folks, here's the BillOReilly.com summary of Reality Check:

What was the Ron Goldman reference? Why does Olby pimp out dead guys?

Excellent job culling the comments together to make the recap, Johnny. And thank you, team. We put together a gem.

This is the democrat strategy and it is immoral.
In 2007, Senator Obama and the portion of the democrat party 100% beholden to the radical left demanded and even tried to legislate total US Troop withdrawl out of Iraq to be complete by Spring 2008. This withdrawl was to be COMPLETE, no combat troops to remain, and with NO INPUT FROM COONDITIONS ON THE GROUND. Senator Obama, at this time ALSO predicted the surge would fail both in security (his statement said 20K troops would not make a difference in the violence or end sectarian fighting) and in political advances. He has been proven wrong on both counts.
Obama's military strategy in 2007 would have created an Iraq still harboring thousands of Al Queda terrorists and an Iran backed Shia that would have no reason to moderate. He would not be able to visit Iraq this week if the US had followed his advice. How ironic.
The political calculation now is that Obama and the dems do not want to appear weak on national security, with their recent call for withdrawl and surrender as the latest and most powerful sin, so they are now trying to appear aggressive in Afghanistan. Again, relying on THE CONDITIONS ON THE GROUND has always been the McCain position dating back to 2004 and Iraq has been turned around with this attitude. Now that The Taliban are a threat once again, the correct response is engagement and McCain has been consistent in this view. The weak democrats and Obama once backed an opposite strategy against the terrorists in Iraq, only demanding a timetable of rapid withdrawl over one year with no regard to the conditions on the ground. This is a fact but Olbermann and the rest of the left's apologists are prepared to lie and say the democrats have always been for engaging the radical islamist terrorists. They have not.
It angers me that the democrat nominee is willing to lie and allow his surrogates to lie regarding the serious issue of national security. John McCain has been a responsible hawk throughout the war on terror, knowing we must face the jihadists. The democrats have been willing to surrender Iraq to these same jihadists but now claim to want to be aggressive against them in Afghanistan, all the while changing their basic approach from one of politically derived timelines of withdrawl to taking into account the conditions on the ground.
This is a sad state of affairs when a major American political party is willing to be obtuse and sneaky in presenting their vision of US foreign policy. It is a dangerous trend on the radical left and will set-up our country for devastating consequences, making 9/11/01 look like a tea party.
I am now with RedLasso and do have video of Thursday's Reality Check segment. Here it is:
