"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow
Topics/Guests: TBA
It's a blue Monday that brings us the return of Keith Olbermann. But we're tied up with an A/C installation. Unfortunately we'll be unable to handle the nightly summary of The Hour of Spin.
But all is not lost. You write the recap! Comments are open, as before. And we invite all our clear-headed readers to watch the program and post their comments to each segment. Point out any lies you catch, any Oralmann blunders, examples of sock-puppetry, unfair attacks...the usual stuff from Monkeymann and Company. After the repeat showing of Countdown we'll check out the comments, and the best, most insightful, funniest etc will be included in the main post, with full credit to the commenters responsible.
This really is You write the recap! Your chance to be an Olbermann Watch blogger without all the muss and fuss. The results:
Tonights broadcast left me wondering where the hell is Merkle really at? 3 to 5 second delay in the conversations means Olby is most likely in a Foreign land. Which one? Iraq? No way. Kuwait? Could be. That's where the Obama Tour Party began in earnest today, after having left Iraq. Any ideas? --Observer Dan
Olby's in LA tonight, no doubt frolicking with the Hollyweird crowd. With that background, I thought he was on the Magical Obama Tour. I'm sure he wants everyone to believe that he's brave enough to actually go into a war zone. Herr Olbytard is claiming that the Iraq government wholeheartedly supports B. Hussein Obama's war policy. And then he quotes al Maliki saying that he does not endorse Obama's position. The Olbyspin is dizzying.
It cracks me up to listen to Howie and Olby discuss the Iraqi government as if they were the Continental Congress. It's funny how the lads never discuss corruption or Sunni-Shia tensions. Now Howie claims that the success of the surge, which Obama opposed, is now working in Obama's favor as B. Hussein wants to focus more on Afghanistan. The air is thin on Olbyplanet. --SB_Mich
Malaki use to be Bush's puppet on Olby planet. Now he is George Washington. The equation for becoming a hero on Olby planet is pretty easy. Do something to help B. Hussein Obamanation get elected and you are a hero to Olbermann. --The Factor
Didn't (MS)NBC claim that Iraq was in a "Civil War" less than a year ago? But now it's time to leave because everything's ok? --merkle923
Look at Madcow - all dolled up again! Madcow is fawning over all Olby and complimenting his loaded questions. Looks as if Madcow really wants a gig on MSDNC. That's about a half-step up from Err America. (Is it still on the air?) She now takes over the Spinfest from FatAss, who says he's in LA so he can slobber all over TV critics during their confab. Herr Olbytard even poked fun at her makeup choices. Oh, that Olby! What a card. --Philly
No Media Matters Minute, no worthwhile O'Reilly attacks, no hysterical impressions, and no need for me to recap it. Snarky comebacks, however, are still in play. --Mike C
Summary, by Katy Turic:
Mister Maddow is on the attack
For losing viewers she has a knack
Where America erred
Bankruptcy. No one cared
Like Keith she can't fill in the crack

He's in Hollywood? With that background, I thought he was on the Magical Obama Tour. I'm sure he wants everyone to believe that he's brave enough to actually go into a war one. F-in coward! He's not even brave enough to bring an opposite opinion on his show.

I'm so glad Rachel is filling in for Keith while he and team MSNBC have their tea party with the TCA.
...and I'm glad because that means no Media Matters Minute, no worthwhile O'Reilly attacks, no hysterical impressions, and no need for me to recap it. Snarky comebacks, however, are still in play.

I'm confused. Keith Olbermann claimed Maliki "endorced Obama's withdraw plan." He did? When?
The latest I have read is, "'Developments of the situation and the circumstances is what will decide the presence of foreign troops in Iraq, but without keeping open-ended dates,' al-Maliki said, according to a statement from his office.
"'With the developments on the ground we can set a vision and clear horizons regarding this issue and this is a view both sides agree on in the ongoing negotiations.'"

Obama's plan first calls for a 16 month plan, with an asterix of considering military advise as the process continues. The emphasis on time in Obama's plan while the Iraqis "hope" of having US Troops out of Iraq by 2010 does not seem like an outright endorcement.
The Iraqis came back and said 16 months sounds good IF improvements continue. This story is 2 days old but Keith and Rachel talked about it like the original mis-report was true, and that they endorsed Obama's plan. Maddow said she knew it wasn't a misquote because the audio of Maliki was released. Arabic translator! Just another of Rachel Maddow's many tricks. She slices, she dices, she's a economic analyst, she's a military analyst, she's an elections analyst, she's a travel analyst!
