"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith Olbermann
Topics/Guests: TBA
It's another thrill-packed edition of You Write the Recap! We invite all our clear-headed readers to watch the program and post their comments to each segment. Point out any lies you catch, any Oralmann blunders, examples of sock-puppetry, unfair attacks, non-barking dogs...the usual stuff from Monkeymann and Company. After the repeat showing of Countdown we'll check out the comments, and the best, most insightful, funniest etc will be included in the main post, with full credit to the commenters responsible. And with that, tonight's write-up, plus a bonus, Olbermann Watch exclusive behind-the-scenes video!
Tonight, the Hour of Spin emanated from Los Angeles. What, he couldn't do it there last night, too? I've noticed this for years, but Edward R. Olbermann looks like my friend Joey, and vice versa. Opening spiel not available on the "Countdown" website. So:
#5: McCain attack segment. Lower-third graphic reads "Breaking News: McCain Makes False Assertion Of Surge & Sunni Awakening Timeline". That's breaking news? Other unimportant breaking news at 8:00: there's heavy rain with rumbles of thunder over southern Nassau County. While that was an inconvenience that could have led to flash flooding, it was not noteworthy nationally, either. Fat Ass reads a transcript instead of playing "CBS Evening News" video. What else do you expect on OlbyPlanet? Geno (my personal nickname for Eugene) Robinson was the guest. I've barely watched this, only skipped through it. It's irrelevant anyway, but it's noteworthy to say Geno was told "Thanks for joining us. Have a good night." "Good to talk to you, Keith," said a grinning Robinson.
#4: More McCain attacks. Phil Gramm! [ding!] Graphic: "Gramm Of Prevention." Guest: Chris Kofinis, who, to be fair, has appeared on many the FNC program. Still, skip to the end. Oh, wait, another graphic: "Straight-Face Express." Now, we skip. Beep, bup, boop. Okay, at the end. Oralmann (sarcastically in first sentence): "Yeah, we need a financial pirate as Secretary of the Treasury. Uh, Chris Kofinis, Democratic Strategist, former Edwards Campaign Communications Director. Great Thanks for your time tonight, sir." "Thanks, Keith."
#3: President Bush "preemptively pardoning the criminals in his own administration for illegal torture..." Blah, blah, blah. Who's the guest? I don't know. The video won't load past 00:25. Hooray! I don't have to recap the rest of it!
#2: The Media Matters/Crooks and Liars/Think Progress/DailyKos/Genworth Financial Minute. (I made that last one up, but it's part of GE, although partially owned by the people.) Time once again for Herr Olbermahn to unfairly attack those he disagrees with. But first, a "preface." "I was praised in the media yesterday for not rising to some of Fox Noise's [ding's!] most recent fate. So, let me correct that. We have a Fixed News [ding!] trifecta tonight." Oh, no. The FNC victims were:
Bret Baier "and his producers": Unflattering freeze frame of Bret Baier teasing a segment on "America's Election HQ." How dare they misspell "education"? It's an outrage, I say! Well, at least Merkle says. Here's the segment where the unholy (not to sane people) mistake was made: You may find it interesting. The FOXNews.com Video title is "Quality Parenting." Subtitle: "Do tough economic times mean worse parenting?" No Democrats are blamed.
Bill O'Reilly: Three things are certain: death, taxes, and O'Reilly attacks by the Olbsessor. "Bill-O the Clown"! [ding the ding!] Unfair comparison to BillOReilly.com poll questions and the No Spin Poll at www.foxnews.com/oreilly. Talking Points Memo posted there if you come in late. Oops, sorry. I'm so used to hearing that, it just slipped out. Pardon me. Hystercial Ted Baxter voice used merely for reading poll questions on BOR site and "Factor" site. "You left out a couple of options there, Bub. Plus, I'm horrified to say that in the minds of the viewers of the Bill-O the Clown Show [ding the ding ding!], such as those minds are, (fake pouty voice and face): MSNBC is the second most biased outlet."
Bill O'Reilly again! Good golly, this man is Olbsessed! "Bill-O the Clown"! [ding the ding!] You knew this was coming. On the heels of BOR losing all respect for Al Gore for attending the Netroots Nation convention over the weekend, Keithy felt it best to use the hysterical voice again while quoting the first segment of Hour 2 of yesterday's "Radio Factor." Edward R. Olbermann playing serious: "Here's a buffoon [ding for the hell of it!] who works for Fox News, which took a photograph of Jacques Steinberg of 'The New York Times' and altered it to enlarge his nose and his ears. Actually copied the propaganda techniques of the 1930s." Oh, no, he's going that route. "And he's comparing anybody else on the planet to the Nazis?! Check out your bosses offices, Bill! And your mirror! (rightward head tilt): 'Kay?! Bill-O the Clown! [ding the ding!]" And you know the last line.
#1: Richard Lewis. No point in recapping it. As usual, I've wasted all my energy recapping that damn Media Matters Minute. --Mike C
Dogs that did not bark. Robert Wexler (D) Rep of Florida OOOPS!!! Did I say Florida? He lives in Maryland and claims his Mother-in-Law's house in Florida. Guess where he pays taxes?? Well that depends on which taxes are higher or lower. --The Factor
Summary, by Katy Turic:
NBC and their "Civil War" slant
Krazy Keith and his misguided rant
In Iraq's "Civil War"
Keith is Obama's whore
And his hair looks like James Traficant
Exclusive Olbermann Watch Bonus Video: Keithy and Rachel Madcow in a planning session for The Hour of Spin:
OMG that video is funny. Thanks for the chuckle, J$. We already knew that Olby does not wear the pants at MSDNC.
Whatever you paid JibJab for that, it was worth every penny! I loved the no make-up look for both!!! Thanks J$ & co...
The video was hilarious, but Olby's head on a woman's body was hard to take.
Oh look, another media outlet has put Olby on their crap list. Should have titled the piece "Head Case". He's such a charmer.

I'm waiting for the Media Matters Minute video to show up on the "Countdown" website. While I wait, what happened?
LOL X 3 at that video...
What a great video.
I didn't watch the show but scanning thru DU's discussion threads there's an entire thread devoted to KO's hair.
"Someone fix Keith's hair! OMFG...
Sorry to start a thread about this... I know he is not in the studio, but my god -- someone fix Olbermann's hair! It's all fucked... Looks like he has a rug"

#1: Richard Lewis. No point in recapping it. As usual, I've wasted all my energy recapping that damn Media Matters Minute.
And that's the Hour of Spin, for this, the whatever day it is, since the declaration that "Karl Rove will in fact be indicted."
Now, you see why I enjoy the nights when Monkeymann is off.
For the record, "the whatever day it is" is not a typo. I wrote it as if I was ad-libbing.
Dogs that did not bark. Robert Wexler (D) Rep of Florida OOOPS!!! Did I say Florida? He lives in Maryland and claims his Mother-in-Law's house in Florida. Guess where he pays taxes?? Well that depends on which taxes are higher or lower.
He represents Delray Beach. My aunt lives there and my grandparents live in Boynton Beach, close to the Delray border. They'll re-elect him with ease. And I'll bet John Fund's prediction tonight, that Wexler will buy an apartment in town so he can technically live in the state, will come true in some way.
I caught about five minutes of the show tonight before tiring of Olby's unusually red lips and Robinson's grating voice (that guy really looks and sounds better in the newspaper). Olby was making big deal about the "breaking news" that McCain "lied" to CBS when he said the surge resulted in the the Sunni Awakening in Iraq and, bizarrely, since CBS cut it out of their interview, it proved that the media are actually on McCain's side. Thing is, I checked MSNBC's site and it wasn't a headline. I think it was buried inside another story somewhere in their politics page. Obviously, Odiousmann's own network didn't think McCain's minor gaffe was all that newsworthy.
He represents Delray Beach, but resides in Potomac, Maryland, which has secretly been annexed into Palm Beach County. LOL! I'm kidding, of course.
One correction: Bret Baier was not teasing that segment; he was reading the lead-in for it.
What's his name and the Hounds of Asskerville are scraping the bottom of the barrell, making a big deal out of a typo by the Infini operator on a summertime weekend show, blaming Bret Baier who, btw, has absolutely nothing, zero, nada, zilch to do with the graphics that appear on air.
To do a recap I guess I'd actually have to watch the show and endure The Gasbag for 50 min. That's asking a lot. I'm always gratetful for those who watch so I don't have to.
In FNC's case, it's a Deko operator.
Olbermann is back I see. i have to watch this clown now.
Yuk!
"Olbermann is back I see. i have to watch this clown now.
Yuk!"
I just can't wait to hear WHY you
"have" to watch him!
Olbermann is back I see. i have to watch this clown now.
Yuk!
Trajan75, once again I have to agree with Mike, and I'm sure he's pissing in his pants with laughter at why anybody would "have" to watch somebody who they hate.
Bro, the more you watch this anti-American pompous a-hole, the longer he will stay on the air. If you truly hate the man, as I do, then leave it up to Johnny and Robert to sacrifice their time (TRULY they are heroes to do what they do in having to bare witness to this scumbag) and then you can leave your comments after.
That goes for ANYBODY on this site who also watches. Why in the hell would you watch someone so vile who you hate when you know that in watching him you are helping his ratings and therefore helping him?
Makes absolutely no sense, and it's no different than the people who rubberneck after a car crash. If you feel he's vile and makes you want to throw up like he did to me the one time I watched him, then will somebody please explain to me WHY you would watch him.
Masochism at its best, and even worse than that, is that with every viewer it only helps him out. Crazy shit man. Really ludicrous...
