Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

-
the best example is Keith Olberman and Bill O'Reilly.
-
The bombastic commentary. The narcissism. And, of course, the misogyny.
-
Certainly that's the caliber of person Olbermann's award is designed to recognize?
-
Mr. Olbermann's criminal-prosecution ideas seems to have been pulled out of his habitually flaring nostrils.
-
His sheer joy at listening to himself, even when what he had to say was simply blabber and cheap fill, became obnoxious.
-
He's got bigger shoes, a taller beehive, and more makeup than a transsexual selling Mary Kay.
Great comment from the "Mad Kane" link:

The following cliche applies so well it’ll go over most peoples heads: You become what you hate. There’s symbiotic fuel in Olbermann’s Bill-O fixations. He’s drunk on it and now there’s something of Bill that’s grafted into his brain and it’s taking over.
Actually, I always thought Keith was a jerk but everyone around me needed their catharsis of a nightly spanking session for “Mr. Bush” (you couldn’t say anything remotely critical of K.O., lest you be ostracized and thought of as a Bush tool). –Nothing like gulping down that political outrage elixir and wearing your Che T-shirt but it’s time to get back on track with some measured thinking. If, on the other hand, you wish to pimp the country then just keep the emotional hysterics in the forefront like Keith. “Worst Person in the World” –what kind sophomoric of bullshit exercise is that for a supposed “journalist”? Give me a break.
For those who supported Hillary, the shoe went on the other foot and eyes were opened. You saw the mechanisms of the way this guy operates anew. It was the classic “morning after” experience; the reality of Keith’s oafishness. Politics and love make us do strange things.
Q: How many times have "war experts" Olbermahn, Matthews, Abrams, and Maddow, been to Iraq in the past seven years?
Maybe a new Olbywatch counter is in order:
It's been 2554 days since Keith Olbermann went to Iraq.
Edward R. Murrow is rolling.
Go Go,
Interesting post!
I thought one of the most telling things written about Olbermann was the quote from his producer, Phil Griffin, from Peter Boyer's piece in The New Yorker:
'“It was, like, you meet a guy and you fall in love with him, and he’s funny and he’s clever and he’s witty, and he’s all these great things,” Griffin said of the relationship between Olbermann and the Clinton supporters among his viewers. “And then you commit yourself to him, and he turns out to be a jerk and difficult and brutal. And that is how the Hillary viewers see him. It’s true. But I do think they’re going to come back. There’s nowhere else to go.”'
I'm sure the hard fall from honeymoon to stark reality is a common experience for any admirer of Keith who is around him long. I'm sure it a particularly swift, high, and hard fall too.
Pity the abused liberal Clinton backers, Phil Griffin, (and inevitably-- MSNBC) and all others who have hitched themselves to him in one sense or another.
That was a great post by Greta. Unfortunately, the comment thread was hijacked by radical Olbermann haters and supporters, people that would have never commented at GretaWire.
...which, by the way, was the same thing that happened on those NBC Sports message boards last August when Keithy started out on "Sunday Night Football" pregame and halftime reports.
In this next paragraph, I was going to nitpick over John Gibson's analysis of Keith, but I won't. It'll make me look like an Oralmann supporter. It was going to be small stuff, like John saying Keith did halftime highlights when he actually did highlights on "Football Night in America" that aired *before* the game.
From Carole Borges: Dear Keith Olbermann, please put your ego back in the box.
"Yes, it was novel when this well known pundit first showed he had enough to balls to speak to our president mano y mano, for Olbermann to give him a piece of his mind, as if the Prez was some little teenage kid being scolded by a very angry parent,"
This is a joke right? Mano y mano infers one on one. It certainly takes no balls to shout into a TV camera at the President, who for one, cannot defend himself, and two, more than likey doesn't see it. In fact, it's the sign of cowardice. If he really had balls he'd dedicate his life to getting an interview with the most powerful man on the planet, and saying those things to his face. Olbermann is liken to the gunslinger who got his man and reputation by shooting him in the back. He's a gutless wonder.
I saw that too Cecelia, very cringe-worthy wasn't it?. At least the comment from the blog was a bit more delicate. That Phil Griffin is really something, isn't he? Nothing like comparing your biggest money maker "personality" on MSNBC to an abusive boyfriend. Nice....to paraphrase from the movie 'Anchorman'..."you stay classy, NBC!"
I do agree with you, some Clinton backers may vote for McCain and some for Obama, but one thing is for sure: they are DONE with Olbermann. You just see more and more comments with "fans" saying they've stopped watching or "his act" is getting boring. The Greenwald thing really flipped him out. His running to the Daily Kos for some desperately needed ego stroke was very amusing. And for his 'FISA special comment' to tank against a vacationing Bill O'Reilly, and after all that "pimoing at his beloved Kos, well, that was really quite delightful.
I saw a comment on TVnewser were someone pointed out Keith's "Nazi salute" and reprimand from the ADL. Another commenter said he was Jewish and had been watching Countdown for a year and NEVER seen this behavior from Olbermann....teehee. Perhaps it takes his "fans" a little more time to figure it out. You'd think they check out his Wiki page or at the very least google "Olbermann Nazi" but, eventually they'll figure out all the things OW has been documenting for years...
"pimoing" should say "pimping" (at the Daily Kos). Oops!
Auction on ebay where the sellers are begging Olbermann to buy their baseball card:

No Countdown to No Ratings tonight at all? No guest host? No re-run? Nuthin'?
I'm not sure that it is accurate to say that Olbermann is the opposite to O'Reilly. Maybe because he comes on at the same time and attacks O'Reilly.
I think it is that Olbermann wants to BE the "opposite" of O'Reilly. But O'Reilly has on many guests that disagree with him. He argues with lots of people and has liberals and conservatives on.
Olbermann does none of this. Hell, he can't even have Pat Buchanan on his show, someone who works for MSNBC.
No, Olbermann is not the opposite of O'Reilly. Maybe more the opposite of Sean Hannity. Or some other conservative that never has any dissenting views on their show.
Olbermann can only DREAM of being "the answer" to Bill O'Reilly.
I'm inclined to think he's the opposite of Bill Cunningham.
Mike C., you definitely gotta love how God for bid their water walker is takin down a peg by anyone.
PS... Son of a bitch! Don't bother clicking on my icon to my myspace page dedicated to our lovely tax cheat, somehow, someway, it as deleted. Just as interesting, I checked and found that at least one other Olby profile that of course didn't kiss the masters butt is gone as well.
I'm not necessarily shocked, but how did it happen? I know that if you're a parent and you want your kids profile down you can, well at least try, and have it removed. But how many thousands of profiles exist involving celebrities in one form or other that are there only to make fun of them?
Gasp, does this mean we should expect all the profiles panning President Bush, Bill O'Reilly, or Sean Hannity to be taken down? Doubtful. But thoughts are still welcome.
Yeah, those won't be taken down. Bob [Cox] started an OlbyWatch profile on Facebook, but it was taken down within a few days. It still exists as a group. I was with a BOR Facebook group for a couple of months, but then it hit me that the group was 85-15 BOR/Fox haters and, by extension, Olby lovers.
...and that was when I left the group. This was back in February.
