Morning Joe is coming out of his shell. It's pretty clear who's he talking about, and we at Olbermann Watch salute him. Luckily for Joe, he is shielded from being named a "worst person" thanks to Bathtub Boy's MSNBC exemption. We have the video (from johnny dollar's place) for your viewing pleasure:
Great clip, but Joe has also been critical, to say the least, of BOR. I remember all the attacks he's made on him; at least the ones I've seen. Most of the attacks were back on that old 9PM show in late '06 and early '07, but I don't forget stuff like that.
It was especially entertaining to see Harold Ford Jr doing the silent guffaw while Joe Scarb was handing it to Keefo the Klown!
Now that Joe showed he has some good judgement, intelligence and the guts to speak his mind, perhaps MSNBC will replace Olbermann with Joe as an anchor on election night.
Joe needs to be careful who he is calling "stupid" because he has personally done nothing but flip-flop his own position about this war.
First he was for it......but when it was going badly in 2006 he opposed it.......he also opposed the surge......NOW he is singing it's praises.
While there is nothing at all wrong with acknowledging something has worked that he didn't believe was going to work, there very much IS something wrong with Joe calling people who have never changed their ideological position "stupid", while blowing with every change of the wind direction himself.
The biggest hole in the argument of those who keep singing the praises of "The Surge" is that they seem to also see it as a vindification for the original premise of invading Iraq......And that is precisely where they are still misreading the prevailing winds of public opinion. The fact remains that Iraq was the wrong enemy at the wrong time and it was never in our best interest to invade them....nor was it in any way worth the cost.
If "The Surge" is reponsible for the reduction in violence. Can we leave now and get back to using our military for what it was intended for - National defense?
Also, what NO ONE seems to be talking about now is the Neocon's not -so-secret plan for all those permenant bases they wanted to keep in Irag......and the fact that the Iraqis obviously do not want them there.
Well, I'm sure KO is unhappy about this. What will he do? I think he'll probably respond tonight, but he'd be setting a new precedent if he named Joe as Worst Person in the World. All this makes me want to watch Countdown tonight, just to see to scowl on Keith's face.
Joe better be careful..Ol'KO had Tucker Carlson show canceled so that MSNBC would tilt even further to the Left...and now that his buddy run's the whole show at MSNBC now Joe could find himself out the door and KO's lapdog Shuster put in place as host of the morning show...New Murrow indeed.
It is quite unnecessary for Joe to tell us Olbermann is too stupid to be on TV with the abundant examples documented here at OW, but it is nice to see someone at MSNBC finally give us the truth.
And I don't know about vindification (sp) but at least this question of whether General Petraeus' counter insurgency strategy, (aka the surge), would work or make things worse in Iraq is showing us who tried to use The Iraq War for cynical personal political advantage and who stood consistently with the honorable position of not abandoning allies in need, even if it was against fickle public opinion. Those allies, like the brave Anbar Sunni or moderate Shia, who were willing to stand against the forces of despotism and terrorism are able to greet visiting US Senators as free and safe Iraqis.
Former POW and veteran John McCain summed it up nicely in noting some are willing to lose a war to win their own political campaigns. I could not have said it better myself.
Those willing to allow principle and honor to fall by the wayside for personal political advantage can be community activists, even a State or a US Senator....no harm done there.....but President of The United States?.....
Let's hope we do not find out how such a flawed individual would do in such an important position, at such an important time. Fingers in the wind is ok on voting for or against Farm Bills. Lying about ones' former positions on tough issues will not tempt terrorists to act if one is a community activist only going around Chicago door to door registering people to vote. But POTUS?.....
VERO POSSUMUS!
This is off-topic: What just happened during Special Report with Brit Hume? It appeared that someone tried to interrupt Brit while he was anchoring, and Brit calmly told the guy, "Excuse me, there's a show going on here." Mort Kondracke was behind Brit in the background and his mouth was hanging open in full plotz mode. That was random.
I think it was Charles Krauthammer who spoke while Brit anchored.
I missed last night so when I flipped Jimmy Legs on tonight he was talking about CBS and McCain.
So if I read this right, Olbermann said something stupid, Scarborough called him on it, and Olbermann is saying it again tonight?
Stop the DVR: Olby and Butchie Madcow are complaining about CBS News's editing of an interview with John McCain, allegedly to cover a so-called gaffe. Unbelievable. The King of Spin is criticizing the manipulation of news coverage. The apocalypse nears. I eagerly await the day when a bolt of lightning strikes Herr Olbytard as he stammers through yet another giant whopper of a lie.
Maybe Olby and his androgynous sidekick didn't hear (or pay attention to) Andrea Mitchell's comments about B. Hussein Obama's staged interviews, which he used as a way to fabricate fawning press coverage while bluffing his way through Iraq. Not that he needed to after all. This must be MSDNC's way to divert attention away from lefty Andrea's startling comments.
I am watching Olby and Harry Shearer during the last Meltdown segment, and the audio does not appear to be in sync with the video. Maybe Olby and Harry are really ventriloquist's dummies and George Soros has his hand up their backs.
Let's think about KO's current war with CBS.
His referencs to Katie Couric are usually laden in bitter tones. He often calls her "Couric" amd sounds as if he can barely spit out her name. Notice he never refers to Brian Williams as "Wiliams" and I don't think he calls Charlie Gibson by only his last name either. Could this be because Katie is a woman? Back in the days of the radio show with Dan he spoke about Katie getting the job and how he felt she was not a good pick. Then we learn, only through his words in an interview, he was a candidate for this same position. Is he resentful that he didn't get the nod?
Perhaps it is because he still has animosity with the EP of Katie's broadcast, Rick Kaplan. They had words while he was in charge of KO at MSNBC, well documented after KO made Peter Jennings' death all about himself. Much of this CBS talk sounds like petty jealousy.
I can't believe Tim Russert or Tom Brokaw would be encouraging this fight with another network.
Wow! I guess Joe Scarborough is tired of being the Steppen Fetchit "conservative" on MSDNC. I guess he thinks he is untouchable since he raised Imus' time slot from the dead. This could be very valuable. Scarborough can basically saying anything that he wants about Obamanation and Keith can't call him out on it. Maybe Keith will write a snippy little blog on the Kos.
I like Joe and always have. I think he is very fair, even if he does have a crush on Hillary for some weird reason. I watch Morning Joe every morning that he is on, but turn the station in the morning when he is not. Of course, I like Willie as well. He's my man-crush and all....
Joe weakly denied he was talking about Olbermann on this morning's Morning Joe. It was weak. He said he was talking about someone on another network. It was very unconvicing.
