John Gibson analyzed the latest skirmishes in the MSNBC anchor wars, including Morning Joe mocking Keith Oralmann's over-the-top baseball analogies over Hillary Clinton's speech, and Keith's blog launching a petition drive to get Joe fired. We have the audio for your listening pleasure:
UPDATE: Howard Wolfson says he'll work to defeat a Chris Matthews Senate run. Audio here!
UPDATE UPDATE: Mike Murphy on A-Mess-NBC: "I mean come on, this is, you guys are so in the tank we ought to be filming this on a submarine." Uh-oh. That led to--yes, Yes!--another Klassic Keith open-mic moment:
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: Guess who won? Guess who won't be appearing on MSNBC any more? Olbermann's Purge continues.
(MS)NBC is a joke
On Obama's penis they'll choke
The far-left direction
Will lose the election
Due to NBC's genius of stroke
Biden is tossing out the red meat
Man if KO can't stand 5 mins with Mike Murphy on the air what the heck is he going to do at the Republican convention for 4 days surrounded by Conservatives and Republicans...is it possible that MSNBC will go the whole week without letting any Republicans actually comment about their own convention?..I mean it's already a safe bet that KO won't interview anyone from the GOP but could he also stop Chrissy and others from giving any airtime to the GOP when he's on as co-host with Chrissy?....and by refusing to talk to anyone from the "other side" how can KO "speak truth to power"?..New Murrow indeed.
No wonder Chrissy is pissed off at Olbermann. Olbermann just helped flush Mathews political career down the crapper. Howard Wolfson might now be part of Obamanation's camp but I am guessing Wolfson still has enough clout to make sure Chrissy never gets elected to anything higher than head meter maid.
Oh man, ths is a great time to be alive.
Nbusters didn't mention it but Keith did something else outrageous to Mike Murphy..asked by YellowHead Matthews(pss. Chris, don't make the hair color quite so obvious next tim)asked Murphy to grade the Bush administration. He gave them a C. Olbermann could be heard ranting and raving his mockery of Murphy....'A C?!!! HA HA HA! He gave them a C??!!!'. Literally jaw droppingly unprofessional. How is it that nobody has beaten the living crap out of child-bearing-hips Fatass yet? How?
"you guys are so in the tank we ought to be filming this on a submarine. "
That's classic. Too funny.
I predict Bathtub Boy will bow out of the RNC coverage. It's one thing to fawn over and ass kiss Democrats, but he will actually have to interview Republicans next week, something he has never done. Plus, it's very likely some of the Republicans will get confrontational and Fat Ass has absolutely no experience with any kind of confrontational interview because of his lack testes and journalistic background. His vast experience attending baseball card shows will do him no good next week. He will be even more worthless than he normally is.
More trouble over at MSNBC!
MSNBC prez defends convention team
DENVER — Amid a spate of awkward on-air conflicts among MNSBC anchors at this week’s Democratic convention, some staff members say there are sharp internal disputes at the cable network over whether its opinion and personality-driven political coverage has crossed the line.
“The situation at our channel is about to blow up,” a high-ranking MSNBC journalist told Politico on Wednesday.

Great read!
I see that Bob and J$'s efforts are starting to show dividends. Awesomw job guys!
Watching MSNBC "talent' turn on each other and their guests is great fun. The meltdown is near.
I bet Tom Brokaw had no idea what he was getting into when he came back to stabilize the news division after Tim Russert's death. He needs to put the dunce caps on the bad kids at MSNBC (and their agents) and send them to detention. The other networks are laughing at you, 30 Rock.
zona9 I was going to mention Keith going apoplectic over the C-grade but you beat me to it.
Another unprofessional moment was when they had Jimmy Carter on, and at the end Carter was saying how great it would be to elect a black person to the Presidency, and Keith said something like "...what a great day that would be."
I'll let that one biased moment pass, though, in return for seeing Matthews smack him down for saying he was "running off at the mouth." If their guest hadn't saved him Keith would have had to mumble some kind of "dreadfully sorry" apology again.
The Politico Piece was great. Too bad they didn't ask why they fly the Flag Upside down. But we now know the answer after watching three days of election coverage, which is really titled....."Puppet Show and Keith Olbermann"
NBC News is a news organization in deep distress..
The funny thing is....Fat Ass can't even ask a question with sentence syntax, ahhh's and ummm's.
Phil Griffin comes off as a complete idiot.
It's going to be great watching the GOP convention as Olby's head explodes. I predict he'll get "sick" about half-way through and vanishes from the off-air coverage.
Quads--Phil Griffin is apparently back-stabbing Olby too according to Jossip today. Gotta love it.
Will Olby be in the bathtub or under the desk? I vote bathtub.
damn this is good! olberdullard"s extreme partisan douche baggery is finally starting to make em squirm a little over there at msdnc. ive never seen a guy so aware of himself as that fool. he seems to have a pre-loaded facial expression for every fake sentiment he spews. god the downfall is fun to watch! on live tv too!
blojoberman and mancow are turning nbc int KOS
the daily kosmanazi's will be the only ones watching
listening to the way Gibson spoke to Wolfson and then listening to the way KO snap at Murphy really shows in stark relief how unprofessional KO is.
As far as the Republican Convention next week, I think KO will have a five day scheduled bathroom break.
Thank goodness there is a Steelers game on tonight.
"Thank goodness there is a Steelers game on tonight."
And there's some College games on as well. Much more exciting than the Pros!
I heard the Mike Murphy incident and Keith was WRONG!
C'mon Keith....you're better than that. Opposing opinions THAT silly don't need to be silenced....they should be replayed over and over.
Many quality sporting events will be on television tonight, and fans are eager for football season for sure. I recommend that folks watch sports and skip the oratory of Arugulus Obamus Caesar.
I love college sports as well, Mike. I prefer college hoops to pro basketball any day.
Joe Scarborough's inside baseball jokes are just a scream. Bet Keefy's fuming.
But wow, that segment with Mike Murphy--did you notice Matthews waving his left hand at something off camera after Keefy's latest open-mic gaffe? It's almost as if he's saying, "Somebody turn his mike off when he's not on-camera, for God's sake...it's becoming downright embarrassing!"

I heard the Mike Murphy incident and Keith was WRONG!
It must have took alot of guts saying that.I never thought I would have lived long enough to hear that from MikeH.Better be careful Mike you might get thrown out of the club.
Mike Murphy you have been purged. You spoke facts not in line with MSDNC facts. The new facts. You are a Neocon fascist war criminal and you are convicted of a thought crime. Report to the nearest box car and bring a shovel and a warm coat. It gets very cold at the re-education camp.
Keith is worth his weight in gold (imagine how much gold for his ass alone). He is destroying MSLSD from the inside while we get out the popcorn and snicker. Every time he attacks I see images of the creature from Alien popping out of that guys chest hissing and spitting.
I can't wait for election night. When the commie tag team of Obama and Biden go down in flames Keith will likely go postal.
You know KO gone too far when even MikeH points it out. LOL!!! New Murrow indeed.

C'mon Keith....you're better than that. Opposing opinions THAT silly don't need to be silenced....they should be replayed over and over.
Well, it's good you "heard" it, Mike, otherwise you'd be arguing that Johnny or Bob or whoever misrepresented Olbermann's remark.
Did you also hear that Olbermann gave the on-air opinion that an AP writer should find new work for his venturing his take on Obama's speech?
No, Mike, Keith isn't "better than that" and never has been. He's exactly as good as these statements reveal him to be, as a plethora of people on this blog have argued for years.
duh..
Sorry Cecelia, but the "plethora of people on this blog" who have argued against KO for years have never convinced me of anything because they all always had an agenda, and they always seemed to be right wingers who would naturally disagree with anythng KO (or myself) believed. Every previous instance in which I took the time to check on a particular offense through independent sources, I found it to be either overblown or incorrect ("the US blinked" vs "did we blink" being but one example we would both remember).
I have always found it highly hypocritical for one to hold up a John Gibson, Michael Savage, Shaun Hanniity, Rush Limbaugh, or Bill O'Reilly on a pedestal, .... but then turn around and attack Keith Olbermann for media bias. This kind of thinking MUST work both ways. It is also utterly ridiculous to highlight something John Gibson said about Keith Olbermann as a header for a discussion thread, That seems a lot like enthusiasticly taking Godzilla's side simply because he is opposing Mothra.
It also never bothered me that he did not include counterpoint or debate on his show because that was the format that he chose to use, and his viewers accepted and understood that. One advantage of not using a debate format is that discussions are never derailed by ideological arguments and the subject can be explored with a little more depth.
However, when Olbermann accepts an anchor position in a coverage assignment, he has absolutely NO business trying to silence opposition opinions. He should welcome them instead! That DOES disturb me and that SHOULD concern MSNBC if they are going to continue to use him as an event anchor. Chris Mathews is about as opinionated as KO, but he does not try to shush viewpoints he dislikes, even though he will often argue with them.
I have never disagreed that Olbermann is a blowhard or that he is highly biased, and have said so at times. My silence at other times did not indicate disgreement and should never have been taken that way. I have also always thought that he was an exceptional talent, but was blowing his potential by fixating on Bill O'Reilly, and I have stated that often enough as well. He could have allowed Countdown to evolve into something more substantial by toning it dsown as his ratings increased but he apparently wasn't savvy or perceptive enough to to that.
If he cannot control his remarks, then he should never be an event anchor, and he therefore has limited his own potential.
That said, I will never he will NEVER lose my gratitude for his standing down Donald Rumsfeld and Bush several years ago when they dared to question the patriotism of myself and other Americans simply for refusing to accept their ongoing and very destructive nationalistic
policies. That was the beginning of the "special comment" series" that has since seemingly lost it's punch or need ...... At that time, no one else would do it, but everyone else SHOULD have done it!
If you care to notice, Mike (since this is information brought to you by someone who might have an agenda...) your example-- Chris Matthews-- allows dissent on his show Hardball, even "ideological" dissent.
Far from lacking "depth", ideological arguments are generally the gist of the matter, the point being that a journalist UNDERSTANDS various ideology and...at the least feigns... RESPECT for opposing ideologies in that he acknowledges them and airs more than one side.
However, you are right indeed that much of Countdown goes beyond the merely ideological in that the show has to do with accusations and charges of all sorts of malfeasance by Republicans. THAT too would argue for the inclusion of another point of view, of a defense against charges that are subjective at worst, objectively unproven at best.
I can understand how YOU might thank Olbermann for defending you against what you feel were personal accusations. Where I have trouble is in your not caring about anyone else of a differing ideology. Anchorman of political coverage or no... YOU expected a defense. I have no objection to THAT whatsoever. What gives me pause is that you don't think that me and mine deserve the same unless you can stiltedly claim it in the parameter of a political coverage anchor.
I have news for you, my friend. If it's not in a so-called "journalist's" heart to do THAT in ANY circumstance it's not in his heart to do it under any circumstance...
Welcome to reality, MikeH....
I am NOT a newcomer to "reality" Cecelia. "Reality" exists when a chief defender of the unmistakable bias of Fox doubles as the chief critic of Keith Olbermann. I have agreed that Keith Olbermann is NOT a journalist, and have said so in the past. I agree that he cannot be a true journalist any more than Bill O'Reilly can be a journalist. That said, KO has obviously drawn lessons from the way Bill O'Reilly's slant hasn't hurt him in the slightest in the pocketbook.
I don't see where you have gotten your notion that 'I don't care about anyone else's differing ideology'. That simply isn't true. One of the reasons I read this blog is to try and understand how reasonable people can view the same events in such an opposing manner.
What has troubled me at times regarding whatever on-line relationship there is between you and I is that you have seemingly taken personal offense more than once to something I posted STRICTLY in response to a given bellicose poster's ad hominem attack on me, my candidate, or my values. That said, I have since tried to watch how I respond to others to simply to try to avoid offending those such as yourself. You may make me sorry for saying this, but I consider you to be one of the more reasonable conservative contributors to OW.
What I also find troubling at times is the obvious team play that goes on here. You are one of the few that EVER breaks from that routine. Why should I be the ONLY one who takes offense when someone like 'Factor' calls a German crowd "Eurotrash", or when someone like Cee trashes the patriotism of others who don't think like he does?
MUCH later!

Mike,
Thank you on a couple of levels.
First, your comment was reasoned, well thought out and notable for its precision, though I really do wish, for your own sake as well as the sake of others, you would stop calling folks who comment here as agenda driven "right wingers."
Secondly, you provided me with 110% of the daily minimum dosage of laughter when I read,
"One advantage of not using a debate format is that discussions are never derailed by ideological arguments and the subject can be explored with a little more depth."
Well, Mike when you start one post with the statement that you've never taken what been argued here for years (even when you see it borne out by Keith Olbermann wearing another hat...) because critics here have an "agenda" and then next say you're here to "hear" how the other half thinks.... well, I'm skeptical...
Merely ignoring the fact that you were responding to a post I addressed to you, I must say that I'm skeptical too that there's any distinct different from the you...that you reveal in what you say to me--- and the "you" in what you reveal in your statements to the most "bellicose" observer here.
You are here to take on "right wingers". Please forgive me if I don't see you any more eager to defend me and mine against an Olbermann than you would do for The Factor.
THAT alone speaks volumes...
