"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith "Czechoslovakia" Olbermann
Topics:
Guests:
Hoo boy, wait until you see what Moore crapped out tonight!
howard hughes:
I think tonight Keith was at his best sharp, articulate, and right on about McCains choice of a vp.
J$:
Too bad the bell was off tonight, because it would have been one [Ding!] after another for all the mentions of "beauty queen", "beauty pageant", etc. Yes, the well-known Olbermann objectifying and demeaning of women. Apparently he has learned nothing from Karma.
dcmeyer:
Open spiel was almost all about VP pick Palin's so-called "inexperience"; lame Michael Palin Monty Python joke....
#5 olby doing his best to diminish Sarah Palin and tamp down the excitment of McCain's VP pick. Not-so-Fineman and Maddow cluck in agreement of their dark master.
#4 Trying to make Obama relevant, the mouth breather, Robinson prattled on about the best speach in the history of the world.
#3 Fat ass meets really fat ass in some anti-American hatred.
J$:
Michael Moore set the tone of his segment by thanking God for the approach of Hurricane Gustav. No I am not making this up. And as he did so, Oralmann sat there grinning ear to ear! Nothing funnier than devastation, eh Fat Ass? We'll have a special video clip up within minutes that will put this Great Moment of Journalism into OlbyPlanet perspective.
dcmeyer:
#1 A look back at the dem convention sans any mention of all the problems of MSNBC all week. [Talk about burying the lede! --J$]
MikeC:
It's baaack! Take cover. The Media Matters Minute! No O'Reilly attacks tonight, but there were News Corp attacks and a McCain attack.
Worst was Richard Johnson of the New York Post's Page Six. Yes, Olby took their accurate reportage personally. Johnson works for "Rupert Murdoch's bribe-friendly New York Post." Quote. [ding!] "Let me explain this. I am damaging Rupert Murdoch's television network and his politicians." That's right, Fat Ass. The anchors, reporters, and commentators are "politicians." "Thus, Rupert Murdoch is trying to damage *me*. They make...this...stuff...up! Besides which, the only time I *really* needed more security was the day the New York Post itself sent one of its reporters to *stalk* [ding!] me at my hhhhome!"
Worser was "the endlessly entertaining Steve Doocy of Fixed News [ding!]..." Boy, did I not miss that this week. "...who didn't read the McCain Talking Points [ding!] on Sarah Palin carefully enough." KeithO the Klown went on to use the Obama Talking Points: Palin is a lowly mayor, like Cicely, Alaska ("Northern Exposure" reference). Then came the Doocy dumb guy voice as Olbermoronn read a transcript of Steve's JOKE on this morning's "Fox and Friends" about Alaska being only 30 miles from Russia. More well-researched reporting from Keith "Rip 'n Read" Olbermann. With a sneering grin, Keithy snarked back: "Right. This is like Steve Doocy saying he's a journalist and not a *clown* because his Fox Noise [ding!] office is down the street from NBC News." Well, he isn't a journalist, nor does he claim to be one. He is a host--in fact, a co-host--of a cable news morning show.
Worst was the zillionth McCain attack. Merkle pointed to isolated Iraq violence to discredit the notion that the country is now, for the most part, peaceful and stable. Keith gave his typical Academy Award-nomiated acting job as a response. "So, an average of four people a day dead in suicide bombings means a country is peaceful and sssstable?! But a peaceful and stable country does *not* mean...victory has achieved and we can get our men and women out of there! One way or the other, you are witnessing a man suffering from at least one actual *deluuuuusion*...to say nothing of an utter disrespect for the *meaning*...of the loss of life. It is not funny. It is shameful." And without bombast, he dramatically and mournfully entoned, "John McCain, today's Worst Person in the World."
dcmeyer:
Quiet Anbar ready for handover, Move expected to free up Marines for Afghanistan
By ROBERT BURNS Associated Press
Conditions in the western Iraqi province of Anbar, where a brutal insurgency once ruled, have improved so dramatically that the United States is handing over responsibility for security in the Sunni stronghold to Iraq within days. Troops freed up in Iraq could shift to Afghanistan.
Katy Turic:
John McCain and his master stroke
Make the Democrats look like a joke
Put moonbats to shame
Beat them at their own game
Barack/Biden just went up in smoke
And that's The Hour of Spin for this, the 845th day since the declaration that "Karl Rove will in fact be indicted".
Great thanks to our OlbyWatch recappers who contributed!
A correction to my contribution: Keith called Palin the equivalent of the mayor of Cicely, Alaska, which was a reference to the TV series "Northern Exposure." Before becoming Governor of Alaska, Palin was the Mayor of Wasilla, her hometown. A full bio can be found in the FOXNews.com article recapping today's events:

Imagine that Fixed news having a bio of Palin, anything about her being investigated or Doocy's great line about her foreign policy experience is being close to Russia, he is a flippin genius

You win.
Saw an interview this afternoon on MSNBC with Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) on the topic of Gov. Palin as the Republican nominee for VP.
In her speech, Palin honoreded Geraldin Ferraro for her ground-breaking 1984 nomination for VP on the Democratic ticket.
Wasserman-Schultz borrowing the Benson line said, "I know Geraldine Ferraro, and Palin is no Ferraro."
That's true, but she certainly is no Dick Cheney, either. :-)
Well, of course Palin is no Ferraro. She's yet to call Obama a sexist or be attacked as a racist. GO PALIN GO!
This will be, without a doubt, a no win situation for the Dems. J-Mc is the big winner with this pick....She's inexperienced? At least she has executive experience. WTF experience has Obama got? Bad choice for BarryO's campaign. Again with the small town attacks, they may as well have said "McCain's pick of a mayor of a town of 9000 gun and religion and xenophobia clinging people who has even less experience than Barack Obama is a terrible pick, and not only that, but she's a woman."
The Obama and Olbermann line of attack reinforces their elitism label....Dissing "small town" government experience will fit nicely into McCain ads using Obama's "clinger" quote. Also, the foreign policy experience meme will lower expectations for Palin and IF she has a good outing against Biden in the debate, this could turn people.
Palin is not Ferraro (thank God) because she is an attractive, smart, down-to-earth working mom. She is "all-American" with great credentials. Also, along with Biden and McCain, one of her children volunteered to serve in the Armed Forces. The paucity of service in the Obama resume is another avenue McCain should pursue in showing how he has never faced sacrifice when it came to such matters.
Lastly, on the puff morning shows today, it is still all about the historic nature of the pick and her "coming out"/being tested. This increases interest in the RNC and if she does well, it may give McCain a bounce this week.
So far so good, and no Quayle gaffes. Palin must remain in good spirits, not become defensive when questioned on her fitness to serve and seem like she is taking the process in stride. If she does that, she will be a big plus for McCain no matter what the concern trolls like Olbermann, Maddow etc. try to say.
One other bonus....have you heard the dems mention houses in the last 48 hours?....Bye bye "McCain is an elitist" argument!
VERO POSSUMUS!
Are comments cut off for the last topic?
I finally heard it from the horse's mouth tonight, that Keith said he would be in Minneapolis for the GOP convention. I'm interested to see the commentary after each speech by a Republican, and MSNBC's overall coverage. Will they have a touching music video of highlights at the end of it all?
