OLBY NEWS ALERT!
Great Thanks:
I just watched the first segment on the Anthrax killer offing himself, and I have to say WOW! For the most part, that was an even-handed accounting of the story. From the LA Times guy (who looked like he was loathe to be there) and then Pozner, I kept expecting Jimmy Legs to tie it to Bush, and except for the same-old "they scared us into war" whine at the very it, I was surprised.
J$:
It was fair for a while, but nothing can be fair for more than a minute or two on OlbyPlanet. Notice, for example, Oralmann's repetitive use of the phrase "presumed suicide", and the peculiar way he kept saying "presumed". Later he let his theory come out of the closet: the anthrax attacks were used to promote a war in Iraq (by McCain only, according to Olby's video evidence). Posner was happy to jump in on the "Bush lied, people died" bandwagon, and another Krazy Keith Konscpiracy starts to form: the killer was working for the government, maybe Cheney or even Halliburton! The attacks were necessary to juice up the war frenzy, and McCain was in on it as well. When the FBI started to close in (in true B-movie fashion) he had to be silenced. KO didn't allocute this, but a long-time OlbyWatcher can see it between the lines. Especially when you see how carefully Oralmann tried to shift the introduction of Iraq off on Pozner. Keithy clearly discussed the Iraq "connection", Pozner followed up on it, then Olbermoronn blithely told Pozner he wanted to talk more about the Iraq point "you brought up". As subtle as a Mack truck.
Flashback: it was just a few weeks ago when Merkle was making snarky comments about the anthrax case, addressing Condi Rice (hypothetically of course, she would never be allowed to appear on The Hour of Spin):
And since you mentioned the anthrax, and we got some of it in this office as nearly seven years ago. How is that investigation going?
EMBARRASSING OLBERMANN MOMENT OF THE NIGHT: He's reading another one of his pre-scripted teases, and since it mentions McCain and drilling, the Kossacks require that he slant it with a McCain attack. So Edward R Olbermann refers to John McCain's call for "more meaningless drilling". Just seconds later, breaking news: Barack Obama has agreed to more drilling. Oops! All of a sudden, that drilling stopped being "meaningless" and that angle disappeared. The drilling got de-meaninglessized before your very eyes. Katy must have been ROFL.
Mike C:
In the Media Matters Minute, Keith "Man on Fan" Olbermann achieved a landmark milestone that many of his baseball heroes have reached in home runs. Yes, the 500th sleazy, unprofessional Olbermann attack on Bill O'Reilly. The Olbsession was fed in the Worse category. O'Reilly, the host of the #1 cable news show for seven years and counting, was yet again in Olbermahn's crosshairs. "#3: Billo the Clown [ding!]" Loofah! [ding!] Keithy's mad that Mr. Bill touted the successful ratings numbers for "The Factor" and FNC (MSNBC came in 30th among all cable channels) in last night's Reality Check segment. The infamous hysterical Ted Baxter voice was used quoting a Blue Blog transcript of said segment. To the family and friends of the late Ted Knight, I'm very sorry you have to put up with this time after time. Ted was an icon, an American TV icon as BOR might put it, and he doesn't deserve to have his likeness besmirched by this cretin. Anyway, when Edward R. Olbermann had completed his hyperbolic reading, which featured a likely intentional mispronunciation of Kasich (Kas-itch), he said the following: "I got your reality check right here, Goober." Another TV icon besmirched. (George Lindsey was the guest for the American TV Icon segment on March 7.) Laughing from the eternally sophomoric staff. "In July, 'Countdown' was the #3 rated show in all of cable news, adults 25 to 54 behind Billo [ding!] and Hannity." Poor Alan Colmes. He doesn't exist to KeithO the Klown. "We were the #2 rated show in all of cable news, adults 18 to 49." Evil glee begins to set in. "Aaaaaand we were the #1 rated show in all of cable news, adults 18 to 34, and Billo [ding!] was third." Second was "MSNBC Investigates." Nothing like cherry-picking your ratings, eh, Fat Ass? The final blow was: "And since (leftward body/head tilt) *I* was off for two weeks in July, I want to thank Rachel Maddow for KICKING THE ASSES (staff laughs) of Laura Ingraham, John Kas-itch, and E.D. Hill. But don't worry, Bill. You're still dominating that important demographic: 65 to dead." Deep comedic inhalation, puffy face, and more staff laughs.
At this point, I have no energy to recap the rest in detail. Michele Bachmann was Worser, and Limbaugh, Bush 41, and Bush 43 were all Worst because they praised Roger Ailes. I've had it with Keith Oralmann. I can't take this crap anymore. I think I'm going to unfortunately retire from recapping of any kind. I cannot wait for the day that this monster is taken off the air! You are an awful human being and I have no damn idea how the hell you live with yourself! Do us a favor and go back to sports and stay there! Yes, John Gibson, you have my permission to read this on your show. I am Mike Chimeri (shimAIRe) and I despise Bathtub Boy.
J$:
Something else worth noting is how little respect Oralmann has for the people who watch his show. Just like the time he bellowed in the opening spiel that the Pentagon cancelled Obama's troop visit (truckling to the Kos lackies) knowing that a few minutes later he would report that Obama cancelled the visit himself. Keith thinks the audience won't notice, or if they do they won't care. And he may be right. He pulled that again tonight, advertising O'Reilly attack #500 as all about O'Reilly's "shrinking ratings", bellowing that Mr Bill was "wrong" again. Of course the actual spot said nothing whatsoever about O'Reilly's ratings shrinking, going down, getting smaller, or anything like that. And bait-and-switch Olbermann never offered any evidence that O'Reilly was "wrong". Three guesses why he didn't. But once again, Olby got the lie out there, planted the thought, and the credulous lemmings who watched tonight probably all got up en masse, ran up the basement stairs and yelled, "Mom, stop watching O'Reilly. His ratings are shrinking, you know!"

If it's Friday, it's our weekly assessment of Krazy Keith's masculinity. This week, Monkeymann attacked Fox and other broadcasters 24 times. Olby's source (Hillary Clinton's Media Matters) criticized (MS)NBC 8 times, but Keithy protected his corporate masters with zero criticisms. That makes this week's Olbermann Manhood Quotient: -64 [pansy limp].
Katy Turic:
Keith claims Barack's ten points ahead
Further proof that Olby's brain dead
All polls indicate
McCain's tied the slate
Better check where that train hit Keith's head
And that's The Hour of Spin for this, the 817th day since the declaration that "Karl Rove will in fact be indicted".
Great thanks to our OlbyWatch recappers who contributed!
"And since you mentioned the anthrax, and we got some of it in this office as nearly seven years ago."
Didn't he mean soap?
OS - I think KO's refering to the anthrax that was sent to Tom Brokaw's office. Even though Olby didn't work in the same building with TB at the time he still managed to tie himself to that event and how it affected him. It's always Six Degrees of Keith Olbermann with KO as he is the center of the universe. He managed to get himself in the story even though he wasn't there.
I can only access OlbyWatch via Firefox because an error displays in IE 7 and AOL when I try to open OW. I wanted to contribute to the recap last night, but I couldn't access the site. Sorry!
Ditto what Philly said. IE seems to be working this morning.
Philly,
Wow. That happened to me last night. I couldn't open any of my conservative websites but all the others were fine (I don't have AOL). I thought it was some sort of Soro's IE virus!
In the best spirit of the Olympics, Fat Ass gets gold for the best Konspiracy Jump-To.
The best part of the show was KO trying to convince everyone that Boss Man Obama WASN'T flip-flopping on his oil drilling position (can you believe this guy lies about FOX getting taking points from the White House when he's on Obama's # 1 speed dial button?).
He even tried convincing Wolff (isn't it sad that this once respected reporter has lost ALL credibility by being a regular on Countdown?) that Barry WASN'T flip-flopping, but Wolff couldn't lower himself to fall for this lie and even he called it a flip-flop. KO nearly cried when he realized that Wolff wasn't also following Obama's Talking Points.
OW: try posting that exchange along with this:
Bottle of Merlot: $25.00
Roger Clemen's rookie baseball card: $90.00
Being smakeddown by Dick Wolff: Priceless
CD - It was a vast Left-Wing Conspiracy! Eeeeevil moonbats! Did OW and J$P have the same site upgrade issue that hit Hotair (and is explained on that site)? Glad OW is back and accessible from many browsers now.
Nice recap by all, Mike C. I feel your pain...
BTW, Katy Tur(d) has finally been added to Keify's wiki-page, (which seems to have gone through yet another re-write---my, my, Olby is busy). Now that she has a "career" I guess he can offically include her in his 'personal life' section. Perhaps some nice wiki contributor can add her AGE and a link to the how she REALLY got her job....teehee:
Personal life
Originally from New York City, Olbermann grew up in Westchester County, attending school at Hastings-on-Hudson. Keith Olbermann is of German ancestry. [1] He was raised in the Unitarian faith. [2] Olbermann lives with Katy Tur, a reporter with WPIX-TV, in New York City.[3]

Olby can add another group to his list he hates...the elderly:
Olbermann Mocks the Elderly as '65 to Dead'
By Brad Wilmouth

http://tinyurl.com/65xfo8
Couple of things...
Did he really say 65 to Dead? Keith really does hate old people.
Also, in the entire history of Media Buying, NO ONE had ever purchased news advertising based on the 18-34 demographic.
N-E-V-E-R.
I love how Olbermann kept saying that Bill got the ratings "wrong" but then he never explains how O'Reilly got them wrong. Could it be because O'Reilly was dead on accurate? We can add people 65 and older to the list of people Olbermann smears. Quite a list Olbermann has now. He has insulted women multiple times, blacks, Latinos, people in the military, Jews, and not seasoned citizens. He is rather "tolerant" liberal.
If anyone is Ted Baxter in the media, it is Olbermann. Keith is the one who slammed a book down on air but off camera when he lost out on face time. Keith is the one who can't be bothered to speak to co-workers. Keith is the one who was pushing for Tim Russert’s job before he was even in the ground.
Yes, he really said "65 to dead."
I read the Brad Wilmouth piece at NewsBusters. It was very good.
I'm having second thoughts about giving up on recapping. I was just having a bad night last night. For one thing, I was very hungry and wanted to have the pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream I bought at the store a few hours earlier. But I was on the phone with a friend for 45 minutes and then had to recap WPitW. Still, I took Olby's latest O'Reilly attack very personally. So, you can understand why I'd think of quitting recapping.
I'm glad you feel my pain, KO-a-go-go.
And let me quote the part of Reality Check that Mr. Man on Fan stopped short of. "Good job, you guys [Ingraham, Kasich, and Hill]. Also, I want to thank you [viewers] for continuing to watch us in a really big way, and we really appreciate it. And that is Reality Check."
Anyone know what Oralmann's Blue Blog Source was? A Google search of "o'reilly ratings msnbc tomato channel" yields some site called Tiger Droppings, which featured a reference to Fox News Channel without the "o" in Fox, and an AOL message board.
Excellent comments and insight here. Thanks
I think Olby is doing this "parsing adnauseum his ratings' because his ratings have been a bit down all this week, while O'Reilly, Hannity & Colmes, Greta have all been higher. (I think Hannity had a higher demo than O'Reilly for Thursday). So, this is Olby's crowing about something that just ain't there.
You have to laugh at his obsession with O'Reilly & all things Fox, but it seems Moron Joe & Co are trying to do the same with CNN, saying 'CNN is copying us' because they played a Jon Stewart clip. Considering Moron Joe only got a 53K in the demo for Thursday, you wonder why CNN would want to "copy" such a bunch of losers at MSNBC...

BTW, I really do appreciate all of the recappers here, because, I just can't take watching Olby, let alone having to write about this complete & absolute hypocrite. I can't believe J$ hasn't kicked in his TV or ripped out his cable line after the yeoman's work he's done recapping these past years. Thanks again to all, and I'm gald you are going to hang in there Mike C., glad the Newsbusters link provided some inspiration.
Mike don't know the Blue Blog Source for Oralmann's O'Reilly smear, but the one about Limbaugh and Bush was an old stand-by: Think Propaganda. By the way, an emailer reminded me of something I forgot to include in the recap. Bathtub Boy insisted that the Bushes called Limbaugh to wish him a Happy Birthday. Nope. It wasn't Rush's birthday and the call had nothing to do with that. Where does Merkle get this stuff from, anyhow? And this just minutes after lying that O'Reilly was "wrong" about his ratings!
I didn't have second thoughts because of the NewsBusters link, but it sure helped. Thank you. :-)
I agree that Olby was parsing the ratings, not to mention parsing what BOR said about the ratings Thursday night. Olbermoronn took "that's among all cable channels" as "that's among all three cable *news* channels." If that's the case, Merkle was way wrong.
I have to really give Mike C. kudos for the 500th recap and the personal point at the end was a wonderful bonus. You put into words what so many feel....I say, "great thanks" (oh sorry, Olber-jargon).
The hair-splitting silliness with the ratings was pure Olbermann ego-soothing self-therapy....I really wish he would just do it in the mirror of his dressing room or to his poor assistant. The attack on the 65+ crowd simply shows his ignorance as this demographic will play a bigger role these next 2 decades....you know all those baby-boomers AMEX et al have the MOTOWN backed commercials for, pleading for their investment dollar?
The snarky comment regarding the Anthrax investigation reflects his investment in the numerous conspiracy theories from the radical anti-American left. These lovely paranoid delusions still continue BECAUSE the person of interest allegedly committed suicide. Many on the radical left are hoping a President Obama will lift the veil on all of these plots and send ol' W, Rummy and Cheney off to The Hague after their guilty verdicts are rendered here in The United States. Oh boy....this Anthrax cover-up is just too much for the paranoid Olbermann and his fellow flakes to stomach!
Just remember people, Olbermann and his rabid audience of the disciples behind the messiah's mission....VERO POSSUMUS!
Thank you, Cee.
The bottom line is that America is seeing what the democrats have propped up for a candidate and the MSLSD guys are starting to panic.
If Obama wants to be president, he needs to pick Hillary. It's really his only hope.
He's an arrogant disconnected person.
I think McCain needs to pick last and his decision needs to be based on who Obama picks.
Romney is everyone's favorite, but a very bold pick would be Condi.
I also Like Michael Steele for VP
He is extremely capable.
I am a Michael Steele fan as well. He would definitely perk up the McCain ticket. I hope McCain doesn't bore us to death with his veep choice. He needs to energize the campaign and rally the party.
In my WPitW recap, I referred to George Lindsey being the American TV Icon guest on March 7. Here's the BillOReilly.com summary of that segment:
http://billoreilly.com/show?action=viewTVShow&showID=1773#7
Sadly, I couldn't find video on FOXNews.com.
There's a few worthwhile links that came up in a Google search of: olbermann "65 to dead"
Mike C, you have leaped in just days from a diamond in the rough to a dazzling huge polished emerald cut diamond, my favorite kind!
Don't tell Johnny but I think your recap here may be the best I ever read. :)
If I were KO I would show a bit more respect to my elders. I really do think that he already has enough enemies and should stop knocking himself out gathering more, THE LITTLE PIPSQUEAK!
Thank you, Grammie. It isn't easy to recap, though, especially since I take KO's O'Reilly attacks personally.
...and he *really* hit below the belt this time.
By Quads on August 2, 2008 6:35 PM
"Romney is everyone's favorite, but a very bold pick would be Condi."
The only way McCain can lose is if he picks Romney or Condi. Lots of evangelicals will stay home if it's Romney. They keep saying so. And Condi would be a total joke as a candidate. She's never ever run for dogcatcher even. The left would pick her apart. Also, the right doesn't even like her anymore, with all of the wishy washy things she has Bush doing now. Haven't you noticed that? She would be a disaster.
McCain needs to pick somebody safe.
I just watched the video from • Flashback: Olbermann Gloated at 'B*****d' O'Reilly's Audience 'Dying Off' | NewsBusters.org.
I don't know why I found it so shocking but I did. KO was even more irrational than usual about BOR.
I just can't believe that KO's manic viciousness and slander is allowed to go on and on by a subsidiary of NBC.
This recap page made it to Google. If you search olbermann "65 to dead", you'll find us on page two.
I can't believe it, either, Grammie. This raises a question that has probably been answered here before: Why do people like/love Keith Olbermann? And another question: Why does NBC brass like him?
