"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith "Czechoslovakia" Olbermann
Topics:
Guests:
Oy. What a revolting display of bias, hypocrisy, and repellent narcissism. Oh, just to make it clear, we're talking about Olby, not Silky.
Philly:
Betrayal! Private scandal, public lies! Sounds like the Autobiography of Keith Olbermann. Why did Olby start his program with hypotheticals? What if Edwards had gotten the nomination and then the scandal broke? Huh? What if Spartacus had a Piper Cub? The air is especially thin tonight on OlbyPlanet.
Poor Lefty Andrea Mitchell is devastated. She is stumbling over her words. Olby is the poster child for that condition and it appears to be catching. OUCH! Fred Baron said he paid Baby Mama hush money (only it wasn't really hush money, you see). Olby's voice quivers. Another Democratic soap opera. And moonbats wonder why they can't win a presidential election.
Former Edwards lackey Chris Kofinis has been making the rounds on cable news tonight to spew the party line. Olby's using big words. Oooh. Vituperous. And he didn't stumble over it. [Naturally, we have updated The List! --J$]
Olby is particularly orange tonight.

Let's compare: An unsubstantiated report about McCain and a lobbyist gets "breaking news" and a full hour of coverage in olbyland. Edwards admits to having an affair and doesn't. No wonder OIlbermahn's numbers are dropping below pathetic. It seems people are finally getting sick of his hateful and one sided schtick.

In the Media Matters Minute, Worse was another McCain attack. This was over his statement following the Hamdan sentencing. McCain "exaggerated reality...again" over his involvement with al Qaeda. "But that's not what the jury ruled," said Judge Olbermahn, with papers in hand. "It convicted him of supplying resources to al Qaeda. Namely, himself as Bin Laden's driver. But this is getting clearer. John McCain either lies or can't tell the difference between reality and stuff he dreamed or imagined." [Back to the "delusional" meme. --J$]
Worst was Newt Gingrich. How dare he criticize the almighty Obama over his "citizen of the world" line in Berlin. As he did with KSFO's Brian Sussman last week, Krazy Keith played the "Reagan said it, too" irony card to make a conservative critical of Obama look dumb. "And Newt, let me tell ya. If you're gonna throw Ronald Reagan under the bus, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you step outside." Rightward head tilt, puffy lip.
Now, back to the Olbsession. On Wednesday, "Factor" producer Jesse Watters confronted Palm Beach Post editorial page editor Randy Schultz at his home. The video was run in yesterday's Talking Points:
O'REILLY: Down in South Florida, the Sun-Sentinel newspaper covered the Wexler situation professionally, advancing the story, telling its readers the truth. But The Palm Beach Post is quite a different story. That paper has been a far-left concern for years. And after The Factor's expose on Wexler, The Post wrote the congressman had done nothing wrong and then attacked us for reporting the story. The head hatchet man was editorial page editor Randy Schultz, a committed left-wing zealot. Factor producer Jesse Watters caught up with Schultz yesterday.
JESSE WATTERS, "O'REILLY FACTOR" PRODUCER: We just wanted to know, why are you in the tank for Robert Wexler? No comment? You say rather than tell Bill O'Reilly at FOX News where to get off, Wexler announced he would lease an apartment in his district. That's what he should be doing. And you're attacking O'Reilly for pointing this out and reporting this?
RANDY SCHULTZ, PALM BEACH POST EDITORIAL PAGE EDITOR: You're on my property. Please get off. You're on my property.
WATTERS: I mean, you should be ashamed of yourself. This is corrupt reporting, sir.
SCHULTZ: Oh, you know what? If I took what you said seriously, I'd worry about it.
Isn't Mr. Schultz something? Coming out of the clip, Mr. Bill's response was:
O'REILLY: Now few people care about The Palm Beach Post or that guy. The Post has lost 10 percent of its readership in the past two years, and now you know why. But here's the bigger picture, the important picture. No longer can Americans trust the media, which was given special constitutional privileges to look out for the folks. The Palm Beach Post and many other media outlets are in the business of advancing a political cause: liberalism. And there's no balance in this ideological intrusion. Few American newspapers are conservative. So for the first time in American history, the curtain has been pulled back. Media ideology has greatly aided Barack Obama in his quest to be president. And now it's being used as a blunt instrument.
If The Palm Beach Post wants to be a liberal brochure, its parent company the Cox Corporation should simply state that. Don't attack journalists who do honest reporting. The folks in Congressman Wexler's district have a right to know where the man lives and what his tax situation is. We provided that. The Palm Beach Post did not. You decide which enterprise is noble.
After all that information, I can finally tell you how Oralmann responded tonight. Billo the Clown! [ding!] Fat Ass referred to "his [O'Reilly's] neurotic attention to where Congressman Robert Wexler's legal residence is." Schultz "aptly" dismissed him. "Naturally, since Billy is the Joe McCarthy wannabe of our time and thinks his coverage of Wexler's perfectly legal residency is a, quote, (Ted Baxter voice): 'Expose', (normal voice): he sent one of his stalker producers [ding!] to editor Schultz's home." A Jesse Watters attack follows: "In the tape, little Jesse shouted phrases like: (squeaky-voiced teen voice): 'In the tank,' (normal): and, (teen): 'corrupt reporting,' (normal): and, (teen): 'you should be ashamed of yourself,' (normal): at Schultz. And then Billo [ding!] came back on and entoned: Now few people care about The Palm Beach Post or that guy."
Keitho the Klown stopped there, after one sentence, ignoring the rest of the T-Points, and entoned in a calm, patronizing voice, "Oh? Then, why did you send a reporter to Florida? Why did you do a story on him?" Incredulous smirk. By the way, I'm not sure if referring to a producer as "a reporter" is a promotion or an insulting demotion. Assume the latter.
Observer Dan:
KEITHS CREEPIEST MOMENT: Olbermann, the misguided "wannabe Edward R. Murrow" calling Bill O'Reilly the "wannabe Joseph Mcarthy".

J$: If it's Friday, it's our weekly assessment of Krazy Keith's masculinity. This week, Monkeymann attacked Fox and other broadcasters 23 times. Olby's source (Hillary Clinton's Media Matters) criticized (MS)NBC 10 times, but Keithy protected his corporate masters with zero criticisms. That makes this week's Olbermann Manhood Quotient: -66 [sissy limp].
And that's The Hour of Spin for this, the 824th day since the declaration that "Karl Rove will in fact be indicted".
Great thanks to our OlbyWatch recappers who contributed!
Um, did KO really attempt to defend REAGAN'S honor by "telling" Newt he'd have to ask him to "step out side?"
Is this really the Left's spokesman, issuing his best defense of Obama's ego? By saying, I have to repeat it, "And Newt, let me tell ya. If you're gonna throw Ronald Reagan under the bus, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you step outside."??????
Seriously? What's the weather forcast in hell tomorrow? Are the Kossacks really so offended that Newt "(threw) Reagan under the bus"? (DING!) that they told KO to go out there and protect the Reagan legacy?
Jesus H Christ on a popsicle stick, if Reagan's last line of defense is Keith Olbermann, let the apocalypse start now.
He wasn't defending Reagan. He was saying that conservatives are dumb hypocrites for bashing Obama for telling Berliners that he isn't just a citizen of the U.S., but of the World, while their hero Ronald Reagan said the same thing 21 years ago. And I need to make two corrections. I meant to type "under the bus [ding!]" and "ask you to step outside."
I have a bad feeling Keithy will rebound in the ratings tonight. God forbid.
Daily Kos got an exclusive from Elizabeth? She wrote to them?
Funniest thing, his guest Chris Kofins says, "When the news broke this morning to say it was devastating and disappointing would be putting it lightly." - Really? Evidently he reads the NY Times and watches MSNBC all the time that this is a complete shock.
In the same vane Fat Ass says (without laughing), "As a professional journalist, I have to ask, what made them think (Mr. & Mrs. Edwards) they could hide this from a 24/7 news cycle [insert something about Civil War here]" ?
Maybe because 99% of MSM are in bed with the Democrats and would never report the story let alone investigate it like they should for the American people.
Alternate universe version of CD where Whatzhizname is a conservative, RW mouthpiece, anti-left commentator"
Whayzhizname lead story: How could a man with a law degree, a license to practice law and who was a successful litigator (suit filer) possibly believe his conduct up to today could approach anything close to "being 99% honest?"
As a former Senator, one of the Big Three Democratic primary candidates for president and who was being considered for VP or a cabinet post said today, "...I take full responsibility. But that misconduct" only happened once, a long, long time ago, and besides, I didn't inhale.
I think I have it figured out…
Twice now….KO has made issue of criticism’s leveled at OBAMASON for his “citizen of the world” remark.
I have noticed several stories getting rehashed over the last couple of months, which would lead one to think that Olbywan is running out of fresh material.
Let’s face it, it’s quite the chore creating 48 minutes of distortion, obfuscation, and pulling the rest directly from one’s anus.
But when you can keep going back to the O’Reilly well over and over and over again and pull it off with KO’s grace and style, lack of new topics can’t be the problem.
No, what is going on is Blowbermann attempting to use some JEDI MIND TRICK to SUBLIMINALLY link Barak “pass the bicycle pump” Obama to a TRUE man of the world, PRESIDENT RONALD WILSON REAGAN.
Nice try Keithy…..but we’re on to your ploy.
OH YEAH….and one more thing…..
A baseball nerd (that looked like he needed a Red Bull) who is “scientifically” calling the electoral college?
Really Keith?
I can’t wait for next weeks show where you feature an NHL referee who will “scientifically” prove how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.
Mmm, just incredulity on COUNTDOWN? I just read the recaps and did not see the show.....Olbermann did not deride, make fun of, or even snicker once at the obvious hypocrisy and stupidity of THE BRECK GIRL?....
What a difference the party or ideology makes in the coverage....Compare this fall from grace to such pols as Bennett or Craig....I believe if we look at the archives we would see a laughing Olbermann instead of an indignant one....Or how about Reverand Haggard?....What a different response from the professional journalist, Keith Olbermann....
How about even how he treats pundits like O'Reilly or Limbaugh?....Why is Edwards not now included in the comedy?
Please...MikeH or any of the Olbermann defenders...please explain to me the differences between the comical approach to covering sex scandals versus the serious, politically disturbing approach.
Indeed, Olberdouche looked like he was attending a funeral during the Edwards story, whereas he was filled with glee while announcing the "Breaking News" of McCain's "affair".
What a hack.
What a hoot.
Associated Press, New York Times, NBC, ABC, CNN,... and who breaks the most important political news of the year?
The National Enquirer.
What a hoot.
Cee: "Please...MikeH or any of the Olbermann defenders...please explain to me the differences between the comical approach to covering sex scandals versus the serious, politically disturbed approach."
Obviously I can't Cee.......I can't explain that any more than I can explain your own unmistakable glee when a political scandal breaks your way?.......I can't explain that any more than I can explain why you would post lies about taxation rates for political purposes, and then pretend the inflated amount isn't important when caught?......I can't explain that any more than I can explain why you would continually publicly disrespect the given name of of a United States Presidential nominee of a major party?........and finally Cee, I can't explain that any more than I can explain your constant deriding of the motives of those you disagree with by branding them as "politically motivated" or "un-American"?
So Cee, please spare us your hypocritical righteous indignation and taunting!
> your constant deriding of the motives of those you disagree with by branding them as "politically motivated" or "un-American"?
My my, the very same words the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann has used against people HE disagrees with. I guess you can't explain that either.
J$: "My my, the very same words the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann has used against people HE disagrees with. I guess you can't explain that either."
Maybe you've just failed to notice that I haven't tried either?
I have to hand one thing to you J$.....you are an absolute master at staying on message.
It's not hard, watching Olbypologists condemning people for using the same arguments that Olby himself uses. And yet the Olbypologists somehow don't condemn Olby. I'd say that's curious, but then, that's why they're Olbypologists!
How's your day going, Mike?
For everyone else, I was watching a show I recorded on the Travel Channel on Thursday night and in Cablevision's local ad block, there was a commercial for...get ready for it..."Countdown with Keith Olbermann." It featured fawning reviews from various media outlets coming out of a copy machine. Then, the commercial cut to old, Secaucus-based clips of The Hour of Spin; particularly, Olby throwing balled-up papers at the camera. At the end, there was this Cablevision-based gem: "Brought to you locally by Land Rover." Then, there was an ad for "The Daily Show." I guess this says something about what kind of people watch the Travel Channel and why John Ratzenberger's and Mark DeCarlo's shows were canceled. Also, the same people that own "The Palm Beach Post," Cox Communications, also own the Travel Channel after buying it from Discovery Networks last year. I can sense the shipping of "Made in America" and "Taste of America" off to late night and weekend slots before being cut loose had Cox's approving fingerprints all over it.
And to just to avoid any confusion, our own Bob Cox's hands are *not* on the cancellation nor Cox Communications.
This is the third night Olbermann has been down dramatically. He barely breached 500K. This is becoming a pattern. I'm really liking this.

Notice: Nancy Grace kicked his butt by a considerable margin. I wondering if he's going nuts at this point. I would bet.
He deserves every bit of this.
As a side note, what I love about this site is we're all registered commenters. No trolls show up here from sites like Newshounds. Johnny Dollar's Place now is what OlbyWatch used to be: a place where at any given second, a troll could show up, disrupt a comment thread, the regular commenters take the troll's bait, and a comment thread with around 10 to 20 comments turns into a thread with 100 to 300 comments! I consider the troll commenters from Newshounds cyber-terrorists. What else could you call them? But I digress.
On to the Monday recappers thread...
The newshounders are barking up the wrong tree where Olby's concerned.
