It's Monday night of the four-night Olbergasm on BONBC. Here's an open thread to discuss the coverage, the convention, and however many gaffes are made by the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann.
You can watch the gang at Fox (Mr Bill O'Reilly, Ham & Cheese, the Hon Brit Hume, etc). Or perhaps you favor the other Wolf Man, the one at CNN. Or you might just be a glutton for punishment and are willing to sit through hours of spittle from Fat Ass and The Drooler, so that you can help document their smears and lies for future generations to ponder.
In any case, the comments are open and we invite you to use our valuable bandwidth to post your convention-night commentary.
I wonder the drooler and Olberloser are going to get lock jaw tonight? I hope they brought their knee pads.
I think we will see Kieth scarcily tonite, as the whole msnbc dream team is there. And i'm too busy watching it on FOX and elsewhere.

I love how Barry is hoping the Kennedys will make the public forget all about the Clintons and the PUMAs. Ignore the man behind the curtain!
Will we have another tantrum by Keith if he doesn't get enough face time? We can only hope.
Olby will start pounding the desk again if the camera isn't on him. Ted Kennedy being feted by John Kerry. Priceless. Mary Jo Kopechne is still dead, Ted.
I've hardly watched FNC after "The Factor." I saw a little bit of the Ted Kennedy tribute. It was very moving, but I couldn't stay with it for too long. As I saw, he's had the same oratory throughout his Senate career. Another reason I couldn't watch was the thought that he may not have much long left on this Earth. It's very upsetting to think about anyone in that positiion. I radically disagree with him, but that doesn't translate to...I just don't know what else to say.
I tuned in for a minute early and had to snort when I saw Chris Matthews pay tribute to Ted Kennedy by saying he, "always cares about other people."
Nothing about Mary Jo Kopechne in the Kennedy tribute. Strange. When one considers the pivotal role her death played in Kennedy's political career, I thought she would at least get some mention.
I have The Weather Channel on right now. I want to find out where Tropical Storm Gustav is projected to go, even though I know [pessimistically] it's headed for Florida. :-(
Like I said, I disagree with Kennedy, but you guys are just ghoulish to bring that up now.
Robert Wexler was on "H&C" just now from the convention floor. It was an Alan-only interview.
David Gregory interviews loudmouth billionaire harpie Teresa Heinz Kerry and her loser husband. How many houses do Teresa, her kids and the Heinz family trust have, John Kerry?
Why is that ghoulish, Mike? I'm sorry that Ted is ill, but he led a full and rich life as a multimillionaire. Mary Jo didn't get that privilege.
Ok, did anyone catch what appeared to be a testy exchange between Kieth and Joe? I didn't catch it from the beginning and want to know if my impression is correct or not. I think Joe was talking about how the polls had tightened..something like that and Keith could be heard mumbling in the background and Joe stopped talking and asked what he had said and said, "what's that about a shovel?" and asked who said it and Keith said, 'I did' and then Keith seemed to challenge whatever it was Joe was talking about. Finally, after Joe had replied there was a dead pause and Chris said flatly, "Are you done?" and Joe said, "Do you want me to be done'? I can only assume the shovel bit was suggestion by Keith that Joe was talking sh*t. Please tell me someone else caught this exchange?

I would pay good money to see Joe slap Fat Ass or the Drooler right in the piehole.
Jeez, can someone delete that double post? I submitted it twice because I got a failure message the first time.
That happened to me yesterday, Zona. And then it turned out all the comments I sent that led to an error message all went through. So, just send once and wait a minute or two for your comment to load.
Yeah, Zona, Olby DID tell Joe to "get a shovel." I found it on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiiarNdxouc
But it didn't have the last part about Chris saying "are you done" and all that last part that you wrote about. I really want to find that. I make no secret that Joe Scarborough is my "man-crush" as he and Willy would say and I agree with Philly.

Rachael "does Northampton" Maddow has just introduced the "POW Card"
Is MSNBC going to be doing the same crowd-behind-the-stage thing at the GOP convention? Could be a good chance to get an Olbermann Watch sign in the background!
we've got a longer clip of this. Gibson tonight aired it, with his play-by-play commentary of course. Currently top post on the front page.
Video running...Obama and Michelle making a love connection, minus Chuck Woollery.
Obama is going to get a dead cat bounce by Friday...Possibly 50% on the polls. anything below 50% will be poison.
Keith told Joe to grab a shovel and report to the nearest box car. Joe has been purged for committing a thought crime. Bring a warm coat Joe. You will need it.
Michelle is just nauseating...'to this country that has given me so much'. What, the country that she's never been proud of and that she describes as mean?

Politics aside, I thought that was an excellent speech. I just didn't like the rhetoric in it.
And Malia, Sasha, and Michelle talking to Barack via satellite was very touching, very cute. :-)
Michelle My Bell. She did do a nice job. The Drooler and Fatass I think had mutual orgasms over the whole thing. As thought Nazis they are really good. Not that they have experienced in life any of the difficulties that the good woman referred to. No matter. They can relate. That is all that matters with people like them. We weren't there, but we can feel your pain. Oh really. You want to see the x-ray of the shrapnel still in me 40 years later and tell me how it feels? Bastards.
"What, the country that she's never been proud of....."
But she never said that......and if you insist on continuing to believe that she did, it might behoove you to remember that John McCain said something very similar to that statement of her's that you insist on distorting.....TWICE!
Don't respond to him, guys.
This has been a friendly pre-emptive reminder from your friendly neighborhood Troll Keeper. Now, back to regular programming.

Noted liar Mike spinning again. Michelle Obamanation said and I quote “for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country". What McCain said is the he didn't truly love his country until it was taken from him. I am more concerned about Michelle Obamanation's communist rants where she says the some people are going to have to give up part of their pie to others proving that she believes like most communist that capitalism is a zero sum game.

Michelle did give a nice speech. It seems that she's now proud of her country...for the second time in her life.

Bob, I suspect you have already seen that you have a troll infesting your site in the ironic guise of "Troll Keeper"?
You've stated publicly that you want counterpoint on your site.....and you've also stated publicly that you don't want trolls.
The question is.....what are you going to do about it?
A real slobber fest from all the yacking maroons, save Moring Joe.

Factor, you may see a huge difference between what Michelle Obama said and what John McCain said, but reasonable people do not. I for one would just like everyone to hear both sets of statements side by side and let them decide for themselves.
Also Factor, if you are naive enough to believe that placing SOME reasonable limits on runaway capitalism is the same thing as "communism", then you must not believe in publicly funded education, pubicly funded roads, or any of those other "communist" ideas either.
And if you are also naive enough to believe that Capitalism is synonomous with freedom, you obviously haven't watched enough of the Olympics to see how China has managed to successfully marry repression with consumerism.

Oh yes Mike, China is an example of run away capitalism. LOL
When you take away someone's money and property, you take their freedom away. We don't need public schools. The money we throw down the rat hole of public education could be spent by parents to send their kids to good schools

They just got finished interviewing Ken Burns on his Kennedy hagiography. Chrissy asked Burns if he left anything out of the documentary and I thought for sure he was going to mention Mary Jo at that point, but he just gushed some more about what a great big lovable guy Teddy is. Odiousmann then asked about Burns' next baseball flick and he had this bizarre upturned lower lip thing going. I was thinking "what the hell is he doing?" but then I realized, "oh, that's his smug look." Turns out, Bathtub Boy's encyclopedic knowledge of baseball (gleaned from literally decades of collecting baseball cards) will be on display in Burns' next epic. Of course, Keithy had to fit himself into tonight's festivities somehow.
"...but reasonable people do not."-By MikeH on August 25, 2008 11:53 PM
...and what the hell makes you think you are the arbiter of what reasonable people think, perceive, believe or care about. The whole point about 'reasonable people can disagree on..." is that just because someone doesn't agree with you or you disagree with someone else, it does not follow that they are not reasonable.
Not only do you make a blanket statement, you presume to know what is reasonable and what is unreasonable, and you assume you are one of the chose reasonable people.
GMAFB!
Ramjet: "and you assume you are one of the chose reasonable people."
Whatever....but did you notice that I also stated a standard for comparison that would only be fair? ..... That EVERY media mention of what Michelle Obama once said be compared to the similar statement that John McCain said.....and then let the public decide. I don't think most of the public is even aware that McCain twice made a similar statement.
I would also argue that 'Factor', who is arguably THE most right wing poster on this site, would pass any mainstream test concerning what is "reasonable" when comparing statements made by someone he considers a "communist" to those of a conservative candidate.
Factor: "When you take away someone's money and property, you take their freedom away. We don't need public schools. The money we throw away down the rat hole of public education could be used by parents to send their kids to good schools."
Sounds like you are making an argument for 'vouchers'?......You "communist" you!
So what you really think is that it's OK to take money from ME to educate YOUR kids......as long as you think the school you send them to is a "good" one?
COMMIE!
"Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your division. That you come out of your isolation. That you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual; uninvolved, uninformed."
This quote from a Michelle Obama speech in 2/08 clearly shows where she is coming from regarding, "being proud of her country." She is talking about the behavior of her fellow Americans, specifically, in the elitist evaluation of the results of our political choices.
This is a huge difference when compared to McCain "loving his country," because his personal freedom was taken away by leftist despots during a war.
Once again, the leftist apologist here at OW misses the entire point of two very clear messages. The Obama message is an elitist one that assumes Americans are uninformed, uninvolved and lazy because they were not participating in a particular brand, group or movement....But now that there are a few thousand at a rally, there is evidence that this is no longer the case and America can be hopeful again that the left's self determined "beneficial" agenda will be fully implemented.
The McCain message is that he understands the severe situation of losing one's freedom, that he once took for granted, and that guides his principled evaluation of policy as a US Senator and as a possible chief executive.
One is a PERSONAL evaluation and conclusion (McCain)....The other is an indictment of the general society and typical liberal claptrap that is used to try to consolidate power in order to advance a radical, and unlikely beneficial, agenda (Obama).
I'll take the self evaluating Senator from Arizona as my leader over the Senator from Illinois who thinks he knows 100% what is wrong with THE AMERICAN PEOPLE and what government programs will make us all behave correctly.
It is freedom versus a nanny state.
VERO POSSUMUS!
