NBC has announced that Chris Matthews and the tonsorially enhanced David Gregory will be the co-hosts in St Paul. The infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann will stay in New York to bobble host hurricane coverage
For this relief, much thanks.
UPDATE: MSNBC's Phil Griffin to conservatives: you're not wanted here!
One network staffer, who declined to be named describing private conversations, says MSNBC President Phil Griffin told him that "our audience hates Bush" and that squeezing conservative shows into a liberal lineup would just drive them away.
UPDATE UPDATE: It must be true that absence makes the heart grow fonder:
OLBERMANN: Chris Matthews, at St. Paul at the Xcel Center. I miss you already.
Meanwhile Jossip weighs in on the question of whether Keith being sidelined is just his way of avoiding those contrary viewpoints that make him "nauseous", or a slap-down from his bosses:
No doubt, the demotion will infuriate Olbermann. He's threatened to quit the network before if he doesn't get his way. Will he go to such extremes this time around?
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: It's official. Edward R Olbermann will sit out the convention in New York. But an insider ominously adds:
He'll co-anchor with Chris who will be on our Rice Park set.
Half a continent away from those dangerous terrorists, the Republican Party. It's Bathtub Boy in a Bubble!
The good news is Keith has been yanked from MSNBC's RNC coverage. The bad news is Keith has been designated THE Monday daytime anchor for hurricane coverage! This will only further his Murrow delusion. I hope TWC (The Weather Channel) personalities don't appear on MSNBC tomorrow.
Perhaps it was KO's own fear that kept him out of covering the RNC...fear that he would have to interview those with an opposite opinion of his own. Oh the humanity.
KO has demonstrated his power at MSNBC, so unless the General Electric higher-ups ordered Keith NOT to go I think he chose to stay in NYC because he was to much of a coward to go for the reason stated in my previous post: fear of an opposite opinion
Will Olbermann have on his cheerleading outfit on for the hurricane to hit the city of New Orleans? Maybe he can have a scoreboard up so he can count the number of dead.
Well just like he would never go to Iraq it's no surprise that he would chicken out to go anywhere where he might be challenged on his views....that and he probably scared of being to close to the storm too. New Murrow indeed.
Don't be surprised if Olbermann brings up some sort of fictitious death threat as the reason why he won't be going to the GOP convention.
Really? KO is going to "anchor" their hurricane coverage?
I thought the powers that be at MSDNC keep telling us that he's a commentator, not an anchor.
Now, while a major storm heads toward the Mississippi basin, and while the GOP nominates its first ever woman veep (and only the second ever) the most qualified person at MSNBC to anchor storm coverage is...their lead comentator? Not someone like, I don't know "anchorman emeritus" Tom Freakin' Brokaw????
Gotta think this is another reason for NBC to thank God for Gustav, being able to hide KO's inadequacies as a journalist behind the "storm" curtain, rather than admitting them.

Actually there was probably a lot of deep thinking going on there at MSNBCommie. First they were likely worried that they were not going to get anybody decent, if at all, to interview with Obama's press agent doing the interviews. Fatass was probably worried it might be a bit cold up there for him. Maybe he missed the baby waiting for him at the pad and couldn't stand another 5 day absence. Also who better than to deal with Gustav and camp out on any little tidbit that might indicate the Repubs. were not handling the situation and make sure that got spread wide and far.
Olbermann was pulled from St. Paul to anchor MSNBC's storm coverage from New York, with his seat beside Chris Matthews filled by David Gregory. Capus said political considerations had nothing to do with that move....
Right! Who believes that?
NBC wanted nothing better than to hide him from Republicans.
But let's not kid ourselves. Olby asked for this.
Gustav is the best thing that could have happened to NBC. Sad, really.
I have yet to see Olby face a conservative. Hmm.....woulda been sumthin'.
NBC must be getting tired of being embarrassed by KO's idiotic "journalism" at the conventions.
Even Howard Kurtz at the WaPost is writing about the childish mess at MSNBC
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/31/AR2008083102263.html?nav=rss_opinion/columns
quote:On his "Countdown" program, which almost never includes conservative guests, Olbermann has told President Bush to "shut the hell up," urged McCain to "grow up," and mocked the Arizona senator with such headlines as "McSame" and "Double Talk Express." That's all fair game on an opinion show.
-----------------------------------------------------------
But MSNBC calls it a NEWS show!!!
'he would chicken out to go anywhere where he might be challenged on his views...'
Bingo. I also think he's chicken to go anywhere lots of people can see his huge child bearing hips. He really has an aversion to going outside the studio. Didn't he pitch a fit when they set him outside at the DNC? He's afraid masses of people will discover that his body, without the benefit of a massive desk hidden within a studio, is shaped like a giant pear. I actually remember the first time I saw him from out behind that desk and got a gander of him from the waist down*shudder*I actually laughed out loud. What man has hips and ass that wide?lol.
Combined with the report that Olbermann was scared of confronting the attendees of the RNC, this announcement cements the rational conclusion that Keith Olbermann is not a Murrow of our time. Covering a hurricane in a studio is NOT a memorable assignment and now that New Orleans seems like it is going to spared the worse, thank God, the main political aspect of this hurricane has been snatched away from the democrats and their shills. The only minor political aspect of this story is actually positive for the republicans in that all the coverage has been that the response is better than before and that they are forcing people to leave the zone, unlike last time.
On another topic, some late polls, like CNN's, shows a tied race! What terrific news. Palin is still viewed as unprepared for the Presidentcy but so far the reviews are great and she is showing herself off well. The arrogance, pretence and over confidence of the left is going to be their downfall this election cycle. Obama's manufactured style, over-the-top and grandiose "brand" will be a good contrast to Palin's down-to-earth middle class roots. It is still David v. Goliath with McCain going along unphased, even with a hurricane rigthfully taking the attention away from his time in the spotlight. He is showing himself to be trutly Presidential material as Obama continues to act in the trappings, a false leader with little experience and examples of real judement. This is feeling much different than 2006 at this point and I see a very real possibility that the Republicans have the right formula to show the truth to the electorate. Barring gaffes, health issues, etc. McCain has made himself competative.
VERO POSSUMUS!
I think Cee made some great points and they all make sense to me.
Mathews was right about Gustav being the "3:00am call". The president, states and cities have worked together to evacuate 90% of the Gulf Coast. Michael Moore is probably regretting the remark. Let's hope the storm misses New Orleans and the levies hold.
I am a person who believes political leaders deserve second chances if warranted. Bush, the state government and Nagin are all getting a second chance.
As an American, I am hoping for the best (obviously), but I'm pulling for all areas of local government to deliver until everyone is safe back at home.
McCain has made some very presidential moves. As a three time Clinton supporter (Bill, Bill, Hill), I have gone to democratic, to regestiered Indy. McCain has impressed me enough to now register as a republican and I intend to do that, as I am now moving.
I hope that Rush and Hannity and the others realize that there are a lot of people like me out there, who are feeling the love more for the GOP. The tent is big enough for more than just true concervatives.
Olberdouche brings cowardice to a new level. Edward R. Murrow indeed.
Olbermahn had no intention
To cover McCain's convention
Keith mongers hate
He's afraid of debate
In the ranks there is dissension
Aw man come on, Keith Koward! How freakin' weak is that? He took such a beating from Scarborough that he's got to run and hide?
Lost in all the partisan coverage is what true effect the Palin nomination is having on the republican conservative base:
"Enthusiasm among Republicans for McCain is up significantly since the announcement of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. Fifty-one percent (51%) of GOP voters now have a Very Favorable opinion of McCain, the first time he has ever topped the 50% level in that measure. On Friday morning, just 43% were that enthusiastic about McCain.

###
This translates into better fundraising and turnout for McCain all the while not alienating independents because Palin continues to appear reasonable, likable and a self-made woman.
Olbernann and Maddow really mischaracterized this selection but I am sure their errors will continue. Anyone looking for facts at NBC NEWS is taking a risk with radical left shills like them.
If MSNBC's ratings are down for the Republican convention coverage, which I suspect they will be because of their liberal slant and would have been without the hurricane, Olbermann will probably say it is because he is not there. He seems to deem himself their primary drawing card and this would give him the opportunity to say "see, they need me - I am the star." That would be a win-win for him. Theoretically he gets out of work for the RNC, gets to be primary anchor for the hurricane coverage, and gets to say their ratings downturn is due to his RNC absence. Some of his faithful will tune in to see him on hurricane watch which I'm sure will be combined with RNC reports. If by some chance those ratings exceed NBC's expectations he'll probably take credit for it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
By allowing Olbermann-- MSNBC political coverage anchor-- to go and cover the weather during the convention, what Olbermann gets is to interview Democrats and pundits who will be critical over any post Katrina efforts in Gulf.
He gets to avoid interviewing Republicans and to be protected from having to respond intelligently to THEIR responses to his questions.
He gets an RNC convention filled with Democratic faces on MSNBC, when Republicans were almost nonexistent on MSNBC during the DNC convention.
In other words, what Olbermann gets is to do a days long Countdown program--with all that this entails--- during the RNC convention.
MSNBC doesn't have to worry about Matthews and Olbermann finally coming to fisticuffs. MSNBC's numbers stay the same or possibly increase because the lefties get to watch an RNC convention juxtaposed with Olbermann bashing Republicans during their own convention.
It's really quite brilliant of MSNBC.
With a little luck, the levees will hold, the danger will have passed, and Gustav will be nothing more than a strong storm bringing rain to parts of the country that could use a little rain.
If that happens, there will be nothing to keep Olbermann in New York, so bravely covering the hurricane from 1500 miles away. I wonder what his excuse will be then for not flying to Minnesota to covered those "terrible Republicans." This may be the first time in history that a stubbed toe requires 4 days of bed rest. Of course, a stubbed toe is much more serious if you stub it on your mouth.
News Flash. Keith now LEAD WeatherMan
Yes, this is a day to remember folks. Slobbermann adds another title to his Resume. Sports announcer, Left wing Commentator, and now msnbc's lead weatherman.
Happy days are here again.
What do you know? Keith Olbermann is now MSNBC's Steve Doocy!
BOR indirectly referred to KO just now on "The Factor." I can't quote verbatim, but in a segment about Daily Kos spreading vicious rumors about Sarah Palin and her daughter Bristol, BOR said "Did you know that an NBC News commentator actually blogs for the Daily Kos?" Also, Michael Moore will be named Pinhead for tonight. I'll let you know if Olbermahn is mentioned by name.
No Keith reference, but carefully edited video (to keep Fat Ass from being seen or heard) of Michael Moore from Friday's Hour of Spin was shown.
Hey Mike, I have a question those arent rumors they are true and If you watched real news station like Cnn or Cspan you would know the truth my question to you is If Palin cannot keep up with her daughter how can we trust her to keep Al Quada out of the US is it her foreign policy (living near Russia) or in 1994 she was a member of an organization that wanted to have Alaska leave the statehood. Hmm
Then, let me clarify. The first rumor was the fifth child, Trig, was Bristol's son and not the Governor's. The second rumor was Gov. Palin is pregnant NOW. She is not.
The fact that Bristol is five months pregnant from her boyfriend Levi, will have the baby, and will marry the boyfriend, is proven and I do not deny it as a rumor.
With that, I'm through acknowledging you.
Truth hurts, you Repugnants are screwed. Thats is what got you guys in trouble anyway, hA
Olbermann chickened out of the RNC comment. He's a coward.
Do all you Fox lover see who has an exclusive with Obama tonight Anderson Cooper and I bet you Republicans cannot find one biased thing he has said, why would Barack talk to him so soon after the DNC and not The Most fair and Balanced Network according to some Puke Report, whatever why not Fox, Why Fox ,Why Cnn because Cnn cover real news not whatever Fox covers.
So olberman decided he didnt want to cover a bunch of 90 year old men comparing old age rinkles and bed sores.
You republicans must want change, want to know why?
You guys have the First Vice Presidnetial candidate under fraud investigation and also pregnant daughter, Wow when you guys push change you really get it.
"1994 she was a member of an organization that wanted to have Alaska leave the statehood."
So what? I'm a member of a state that wanted to leave the Union but was forced into an unconstitutional war by Mr. Lincoln. What's your point?
And I thought that the Repubs lied and that's what got them in trouble....
Mike, I saw the Factor as well tonight and thought his comments on a certain NBC news commentator were great. I think it is great the way O'Reilly doesn't lower himself to even mention Olbermann's name.
So justin you are comparing Palin to Lincoln what the hell are you thinking did your parent leave you in a hot car too long, have you had a fever, have you had heat stroke, that is the most and I mean most stupid, assinine response to anything I have ever heard.
I just want to point out to you guys that this fine gentleman ;-) has been leaving comments on my blog; comments that get deleted long before anyone sees them. The man is obsessed with me; you could even say he's Chimsessed. LOL
Yeah, I know, guy: Not funny, right?
Oh yes I am , I wish I could listen to jazz all day play video games all day like you , Oh god I want to watch Billo with you, God get Over it, its a website you have a link I just pulling your chain, must have worked . Go cry to your mommy
Now he thinks I'm upset. LOL Do we love this guy or what?
How did the trolls get back on this site? No, I'm not talking about Mike H. I think he occasionally contributes some reasonable observations, even though I disagree with about 100% of what he has to say. I'm referring to the semi-literate dipshit who has been posting here last few days.
Sadly, I just heard on Fox that seven people have been killed as a result of Gustav (so far). I wonder if Keith and Michael Moore still think hurricanes are funny.
No Mike you just love guys
I'm watching Gretta interview Cindy McCain and Laura Bush. Cindy seems to be poised, quite pleasant, and, of course, very easy on the eyes. I really, really hope she becomes our next first lady. I don't think I could handle four or eight years of angry Michelle.
>Mike, I saw the Factor as well tonight and thought his comments on a certain NBC news commentator were great. I think it is great the way O'Reilly doesn't lower himself to even mention Olbermann's name.
I agree, Justin, though it's to howard-fox-fixed-my-house-and-put-up-new-siding's extreme chagrin.
I don't know how they got back either, Rick. Just don't take him seriously. I don't. Mike H isn't a troll, as I gradually figured out. He's a very vocal OlbyWatch dissenter.
Here's video of the Factor segment on the Keithy and the Kossacks: http://tinyurl.com/6k6qco
And Pinheads and Patriots: http://tinyurl.com/5fztrx
No, I'm not comparing Palin to Lincoln. As best as I remember my history lessons, Lincoln did not want anyone to leave the union. So he, therefore, started an unconstitutional war to stop that.
But, yes, I may have sat in a few hot trucks in my lifetime. And tractors.

"You guys have the First Vice Presidnetial candidate under fraud investigation"howard hughes
The guy she fired Walt Monegan wouldn't work with her plans to change how to run the Department of Public Safety and also wouldn't do his damn job of filling state trooper vacancies and fighting alcohol abuse problems plus she had every right to fire him,he said it 's because he wouldn't fire her ex-brother-law a State Trooper named Mike Wooten, she has said she did make inquires on the matter but has denied that was the reason for the firing and has agreed to an open investigation.
Now the part of the story that most of the MSM such as CNN and MSNBC won't tell you is that Mike Wooten should be fired from his trooper job..because not only did he threaten to kill Palin's father he also used a taser on his 10yo step-son..and as a trooper he had driven his patrol car while intoxicated.
So that the great scandal...she'd fired a guy she legal had every right to fire and has a Gov she had every right o try to get a violent unstable man removed from the police force.
Now let's say she didn't try to make any attempt to remove him ...what would KO and the rest of the MSM do when they learn that Palin's ex-brother-law was a cop who tasered a 10yo?
"Do all you Fox lover see who has an exclusive with Obama tonight Anderson Cooper a, why would Barack talk to him so soon after the DNC,"
Because Lord Obama know he won't receive any serious questions from Cooper and CNN.
"So olberman decided he didnt want to cover a bunch of 90 year old men comparing old age rinkles and bed sores. "howard hughes
No it's because KO is a coward who is afraid to face anyone with different views than his New Murrow indeed.
By the way no matter what you say FOX is still the number one cable news network weather Lord Obama is on or not so suck on that Howard.
The Olby reference came with 2:48 left in the first clip. BOR asked Mary Katharine Ham: "Do you realize that there's an NBC News *anchor*...that blogs on the Daily Kos? Do you realize that?"
That's also what I heard MLong. The Director of Public Safety job is an "at will" position, meaning the incumbent can be fired at any time for any reason. It sounds like Gov. Palin actions were completely reasonable and her administration is fully complying with the investigation.
Just to show you the hysteria of the Left over the Palin selection, there was a liberal radio talk show host on Larry King tonight (can't remember her name) who, after laughing about her daughter getting pregnant, actually claimed that Gov. Palin might be the first VP candidate to end up in prison by election day (because of this investigation). The libs are in absolute panic mode and they're shooting themselves in the feet.
I checked the transcript of tonight's show. (Boy, CNN has those up fast.) The liberal talker was Stephanie Miller. The last time I saw her, she was on "Your World" a few months ago and used the old "you guys at Fox" meme.
Another thing I learned from the transcript: Amanda Carpenter is everywhere. By the way, guys, she's in a serious relationship...to a guy 11 years older than her. Sorry. I took it hard for a day and a half after I learned a few weeks ago, but I'm fine now.
...*with* a guy.
howardism's: my question to you is If Palin cannot keep up with her daughter how can we trust her to keep Al Quada out of the US
why would Barack talk to him so soon after the DNC and not The Most fair and Balanced Network
This is great stuff, and you can't make this shit up if you tried!
I LOVE you man! You're great Howard keep it up!
My sides aching! Stop it please! You are just TOO damn good!
"if Palin cannot keep up with her daughter how can we trust her to keep Al Quada out of the US"...That's B E A U T I F U L! Nobody does it better man. I mean NOBODY!...
If he's the same guy that trolled around J$P for a while, his name is Patrick.
howard hughs
didnt he save his own piss and drink it
very fitting
Late to the party I know but I want to add a comment here having watched a good deal of the news coverage of Gustav.
Supposedly Keith was back in NY to "anchor" the MSNBC coverage of Gustav, right?
So, where were the "anchors" for the other news organizations?
Let's see...
CBS News - Katie Couric was in Louisiana
NBC - Brian Williams was in Lousiana
CNN - Anderson Cooper was in Louisiana
FNC - Shep Smith was in Lousiana
I did not tune into ABC so I am not sure where Charlie Gibson was, anyone know?
So, why would MSNBC have Keith back at 30 Rock to "anchor" when Brian Williams was in New Orleans to Anchor?
The old story used to be that Keith did not fly due to his old head injury. This is why he would take train rides to locations very far away such as when at ESPN he took a train to New Orleans for the Super Bowl. But Keith flies to LA, he flew to Denver. If he could fly to Minneapolis why couldn't he fly to New Orleans?
Charlie Gibson was hovering over Bourbon Street as well.
"If he could fly to Minneapolis why couldn't he fly to New Orleans?"
Keith would as soon be on Rush Limbaugh's radio as to be at a Republican Convention.
And he doesn't give a crap really about getting wet doing the weather. If he's going to get wet, it'll be sulking in his bathtub.
His only interest is in the political effects of these hurricanes, so a plan was hatched where he could stay in Manhattan and talk to Democrats.
Anything to keep the boy happy is Phil Gramm's motto.
I think you mean Phil Griffin, not Gramm.
I sure do, Mike.
I mean the guy who thinks he's Olbermann's boss.
Phil Gramm is why Olbermann's in New York and not Minnesota... :D
Our buddy Patrick changed his name again. :-D
EdwardROlbermann,
I have no issue with Olbermann being here to stay. On MSNBC or anywhere.
What is of interest to me is that Olbermann is here to stay as far away from Republicans as he possibly can and STILL be considered a cable channel political coverage anchor or even a news analyst.
That OUGHT to be of interest to members of the media as well.
As to the polls, if you don't mind, I'll wait and commit suicide tomorrow over that life altering information. Better yet-- I'll really punish myself and become a troll on an opposition blogboard. Think you could handle that competition? I wouldn't want to steal your thunder...
when was olberwoman ever considered a legitimate news analyst or anchor
even the kosmanazis know he is just their little hack
when was olberwoman ever considered a legitimate news analyst or anchor
even the kosmanazis know he is just their little hack
Well, that you'd need all the help you can get in a debate is obvious, but I'm not going to "pound" so you can have it.
All that would happen there anyway is that they'd hump my leg and pee on my shoes.
Edward R. olbeman???
More like Alfred E. olberwoman!!!!
Obama on BOR Thursday, Keith says hello to the bathtub.
How quickly we change our tune; not to mention our moniker.
What ratings did you see? "Down the toilet" is not defendable, especially since they lead all, including CNN, in total viewers/total day.
The commode is still apt for the church SNOBamnessiah's MSNBC televangelists, as usual, but I think fair and balanced FOX NEWS did quite well.
VERO POSSUMUS Obama zealot!
obamas minions, pundits, suck boy "ankwhores" and whorejournalists are ruining his chances more and more as the election grows near.
those people you see on tv rioting and destroying st. paul are obama supporters as are the media that is going after palin like rabid animals and Americans are seeing the real left wing hope and change that obama will bring us and they dont like it!
remember dukakis, KOS'MANAZI!
To Howard or EdwardROlberman, or what ever your name is today, in response to your moronic question of where was Sarah Palin when her daughter got pregnant, I ask you, where was Hillary Clinton when Monica was giving Bill a BLOWJOB?
Howard or whatever you want to go by this week, you don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. Just as MikeH has distanced himself from you, you ARE a TROLL. Palin is going to tear OsamaObama to pieces. She has more on her Resume than Barrack Hussien Obama does. She is more qualified than obama. Son, you need to look at the polls from all directions as most of us Conservatives do, not just the polls from the left, because as most people know, the polls on the left have always been WRONG. Oh yeah, by the way, Bill O. is having OsamaObama on Thursday night. Bill O. is going to bring obama to his knees. I can't wait for the ummmmms, and uhhhhhhhhhhs, no teleprompter to help him. By the way, the ratings for thursday night will go through the roof.
As for reading the polls foxwhore, Howard or edwardrolb. you seem to be the WHORE here these days, so how much HO?
Quite correct, boycottmsDNC. Obama got such a small bump from the DNC.
