We thought that those MSNBC honchos said Olbermann played it straight down the middle when hosting these political events? Tell that to Charles Babington, an AP writer who dared to express mild criticism of some aspects of Obama's Thursday night speech. He got scorched by the impartial Edward R Olbermann and told to find a new line of work!
Olby's outburst was so extraordinary that even the Keith-friendly Editor & Publisher couldn't ignore it, calling it "an unusually heated attack on a veteran political reporter by a cable news host".
What E&P failed to note is that Keith Oralmann surfs websites like the Daily Kos while on the air. He was doing so tonight, and even posting comments, presumably during a commercial break. So there can be little doubt that when the Great Kos himself slammed Mr Babington's article, Bathtub Boy would be ready and willing to take the Kos talking points and spew them on Peacock air. Which he did just minutes after Markos published the attack.
We have the video for your viewing pleasure:
Low Blow KO:
"...a remarkable failure of a news organazation!"
Sounds suspiciously like projection, an unconscious description of MSNBC with Olbynoxious ar the helm, followed by a premonitory memo to self: "Find new work."
The apparatus the radical left now has to mainatin their message is formidable. It does not surprise me that Olbermann was so quick to attack in protecting the speech from any critique.
The trend to involve once independent media people for the purposes of propaganda to promote the fringe agenda, with the rationalization of securing a specific agenda that is in the people's best interests, is a disturbing trend. Whether voluntarily and enthusiastically (Olbermann) or when they are a critical target to be silenced (Stanley Kurtz), the radical left is using tactics that are dangerous to our democracy and prosperity. Furthermore, the use of demogoguery and emotional manipulation on a mass scale is an additional component that reminds me of previous historical periods that lead to great upheaval and loss of freedom.
However, I still have faith in the moderation of the American people and the influence and power of The US Constitution.
The next few years will show if I am naive.
VERO POSSUMUS!
Last night Comcast in my county in New Jersey blacked out a number of channels. All the cable news stations were out save one: MSNBC. The Big 3 Networks were still running however so I was able to watch the speech.
I do not know if it was a fluke or what but I was furious thinking I was being forced to watch Olbermann.
What's "remarkable" is that Keith can call someone else "Tokyo Rose" and then ridicule, and in the case of Mike Murphy--censor-- analysis and opinion.
Keith still blogging on Kos at 2:30 am...

You will note that in that Kos comment Keith is responding to the news that C-SPAN was out polling MSNBC among Kos readers. How insecure can this guy be? It is what makes having a Keith Olbermann blog so great because you know he reads EVERYTHING about him and foolishly reacts to it like a child.
K.O., "Charles Babington, find a new line of work." Try taking your own advice olby.
The more I see of Olberman the more I realized I have him figured out all wrong.
I thought his ideology was of a person on the left leaning Democratic party. But it's not.
He attacks and squashes opposing views, has made campaigns trying to discredit and ruin careers and calls for individuals to get fired if their views do not fall in line with his.
Doesn't sound like anything Democrats or Republicans agree with.
Keith ideology falls in line with more with Communism.
I'm not calling him a communist, because his life style fits in more with a Democratic society.
But his tactics and TV personality ideology fall in line more and more with Communist system.
Charles Babington has a right to his opinion, for Keith to pounce on him right after Obama's speech and call for Charles to quit, just seems as if free speech isn't excepted in Keith's world.
For years people have been saying Fox News is unfair and represents an unbalance view.
Those same people have now are embracing Keith and his unbalanced views.
Give Kos his due; he must be a pretty shrewd guy.
Think about it. Olbermann is clearly calls the shots at MSNBC. Kos clearly calls Keith’s shots. Kos has managed to take control of an entire cable network. And he didn’t have to buy it. In fact, he doesn't even work there.
Of course, it makes Phil Griffin look like an idiot. But we already knew that.
