I was surprised, but it was a good decision. My problem is that the Obama camp will claim "inexperience," as well as refer to firing the Public Safety guy in AK when he wouldn't fire her former brother-in-law from being a State Trooper.
Believe me, I badly want McCain-Palin to be a winning ticket, but I'm fear greatly that they'll lose overwhelmingly. It's going to be an interesting four to eight years.
John McCain and his master stroke
Make the Democrats look like a joke
Put moonbats to shame
Beat them at their own game
Barack/Biden just went up in smoke
Grow a pair, Mike C.
McCain's choice of Palin stole Barry's thunder and got everyone's attention. The nation is buzzing about Sarah Palin whether they know anything about her or not. GOPers are talking about their place in society and history and that is a good thing.
I must commend Katy Turic: You have been on fire lately. Kudos to you for your witty limericks. They're right on the mark.
The "Joe Six Pack" candidate turned out to be woman.
Well, since you asked.....
It rallies the conservative base. She is a pro-life, NRA member, young conservative from a western state. She is what McCain needed. It will get some people out who would have been sitting at home on election day because they do not like McCain.
Also, for conservatives looking at the future in regards to their ability to affect the national political course through the republican party, and if she has the fortitude and shows the heft, voting McCain/Palin and getting them into The White House seems like a good way to go. Compare this ticket to Bush/Cheney or Obama/Biden....the VP's are OLD! They are not the future. Like Harry Truman, Palin has to step up and show she can be the future leader of the party and conservatives will respond.
Time will tell if Palin is the future of the party, but so far, I am impressed with her. Simply her stamina to be the mother of 5 children while pursuing such a successful political career is impressive. Her husband is a real down-to-earth guy as well and their oldest son enlisted in the Army and will be serving in Iraq.
Lastly, it puts the argument of being prepared to be CiC back in play. If, and I think it is a big if, the Obama people continue to pound on her "lack of experience," this will not be an advantage for them in the long term because then it will remind people of Obama's lack of experience. They have no argument because at worst, Obama and Palin have equal years of experience, ESPECIALLY when it comes to foreign policy (very little). McCain and Biden are the most experienced out of the four, and only McCain is the Presidential nominee, not Biden.
VERO POSSUMUS!
I wonder if Barry thinks Palin is a typical white person. Moreover, she doesn't remind me of Bush or Cheney at all.
I just checked with the Kos Kidz. They're claiming Palin is not the mother of her baby son - her daughter is. Oh my, my.
I'm sure olby's hatred of women will be on diplay tonight. Not only is McCain's VP pick a woman, she's conservative to boot. Expect unparalleled lies, hatred, and nonsensical sentence fragments from fatty tonight.
Oh well, guess she can't be president.
I can't wait until his Special Koment, though I won't be able to watch it because comcast wants me to pay more money for MSNBC, but I still get FNC, CNN, CNN:HN, and C-SPAN.
This was a great choice from one reason..the Left are going nuts over it..McCain stole Lord Obama's thunder from last night and no one is talking about his speech even though we been told by the MSM that it was the greatest speech in history since MLK's "I have a dream speech.
It should be no surprise that KO favorite blog the Daily Kos is going after Palin's Down's Syndrome kid...But I can only imagine what would happen is some right-wing blog went after Lord Obama's kids..KO would blow a blood vessel.
As for the deal with he Brother-in-Law the guy should of been fired..he threaten to kill Palin's father and used a taser on his own kid..imagine what KO and company would say if she didn't do anything to have a guy like that removed from the police force.
As for experience..being a Gov.of a state larger than most countries give s her a heck of a lot more experience than being a guy who has been Senator for only 2yrs and who has spent most of that time running for President.
It dosn't take a fortune teller to know that KO will rip into and he'll use half-truths and out right lies to do it,,plus we know KO's issue with Women. New Murrow indeed.
A line from Sen. Obama's speech last night:
"This election is not about me, it's about you!"
And the crowd chants,
"O BA MA! O BA MA! O BA MA! O BA MA!"
Gov. Palin's speech is interrupted by chants of:
"U S A! U S A! U S A! U S A!"
What a great point Ramjet! I noticed both responses but did not recognize the significance. No matter what he says, is is all about Obama and not our country. Reminds me a lot of KO.
>The "Joe Six Pack" candidate turned out to be woman.
You could say it's "Jo Six Pack" without the "e."
Cecelia, I don't understand your suggestion to me. I hope you didn't misunderstand what I was saying. I can't help it that I'm pessimistic and can envision what the other side is going to say and do in response to the pick. I'm glad Sarah Palin was chosen to be the VP nominee.
With regard to Obama's speech last night, I gave up watching after 15 minutes. I couldn't take the McCain attacks.
Yes, the Dems will go after her for her inexperience, and this certainly weakens the 'experience' line of attack for the McCain campaign. But, Sarah Palin is likable, genuine, and tough as nails and I think real Americans will love her. She hunts moose for God's sake! I doubt if Obama or Biden have ever even fired a gun. BTW, I read that Sarah's hubby is 1/8 Eskimo and it reminded me that this year is the 80th anniversary of the first native American to appear on a national ticket. Charles Curtis, a Kaw Indian from Kansas, ran as Republican Herbert Hoover's running mate in 1928 and became the first (and only) VP of non-European descent.
It will so great that Mccain just handed Obama the presidency, picking a womam who has how much foreign policy experience, Well as the great Steve Doocy says Alaska is close to Russia, buzzsaw Biden will destroy her in the debates. Game over John and Leonna McCain
There is some great stuff here tonight. Katy Turic is blue hot. Ditto for ramjet. I think cee on has nailed it. Actually I would argue she certainly has more overall experience than His Highness. She has run the executive branch of a state for two years. And, I might add, a much more complicated state to run than Slick Willy ran. What I think they want to say, but don't have balls to say it is she is a she and maybe doesn't have the intellectual horsepower of the King and his Uncle Joe. I have a feeling she will prove them wrong on that. Besides that, where I come from if you can't love a woman who hunts and fishes then you better get out of Dodge and head for San Francisco.
This is a great pick. She has been a fav of the conservative base since her name first popped up as a prospect, but, more importantly, she offers a serious threat to the Dems as an alternative for all the Hillary! Clintonistas that are pissed they got screwed by the media and the DNC.
Big winner for J-Mc. Yesterday I was concerned, today I'm excited.
Plus, she's HOT! lol

The critics claim her experience and foreign policy credentilas are far from impressive.
M
That maybe so, but she certainly is a fresh face, the choice of her for VP certainly is a change from politics as usual, her life story is inspiring and gives hope to a wide variety of Americans and she's added a jolt of enthusiasm to the campaign and to McCain supporters.
I listened and watched her speak, and I'll tell you what's impressive, she is.
One other good result of the Palin nomination I discovered this am....Dobson: "I would pull that lever" for John McCain - Sarah Palin.
When Dobson was lukewarm on McCain, even saying he would not vote for him, the radical anti-religion left, including Olbermann, was all over this development. Now, they are silent, only reporting opinion on experience concern...again lack of integrity!
In a radio interview, Dobson compared how he felt yesterday about Palin's rollout to how he felt when Reagan became active on the national stage.
Time will tell, and if Palin becomes VP and is successful, she may indeed be the future in the Republican party conservatives seek.
Imagine, MCCAIN, of all people, selecting the woman conservatives take on as their national focus! What irony. We'll see how this turns out, but it is intriguing.
oh look
new KOS'maNAZI's on here
