This is the recappers' comment thread for Countdown, September 24 2008.
Welcome to You Write the Recap 2.0. This is a special thread for you to post your comments on tonight's Hour of Spin. Note everything salient: smears, distortions, bias, lies, the works. Watch the first showing, the repeat, or view the videos at the Countdown website.
We'll go through the comments, organize them, and the best will form the nucleus of our official OlbyWatch Recap. That will be posted separately, later tonight, for maximum visibility and impact. We need your help documenting the shameless "journalism" of Keith "Man on Fan" Olbermann.
What to watch for tonight: After last night's repetitive flogging of a poll that showed Obama +9, we suspect the focus on polling will be different tonight. With Gallup showing a tie, and Zogby showing +2 for McCain, Oralmann will either have to cherry-pick up the wazoo, or just avoid specifics entirely. No doubt he'll be too busy blaming McCain for the bailout deal (which may have been nonexistent all along) falling apart.
Be an Olbermann Watch blogger--without all the muss and fuss! Comments are open: post your analysis of tonight's Hour of Spin here, and watch for your insights later tonight in the official OlbyWatch Recap.
Olby is blaming the economic mess on McCain (shocker!). The John McCain Build-a-Crisis Workshop, he calls it. Olbyparrot Chris Hayes is along for the ride. I thought I was ill before, now I feel even worse after hearing Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Hayes just said that McCain's gamble played on the "stupidity of the American people." Stay classy, Hayes. 'Nuff said from these two bozos.
Hayes said that McCain's behavior is ad hoc and impulsive, which mirrors earlier spin from Kristin Powers on Fox that McCain's behavior is "erratic" and unstable. That is the new Obama campaign meme - McCain is unstable and erratic because he made a snap judgment to lead instead of being an Obamasheep. "Call me if you need me" Barry has a few new orafices after W shamed him back to Washington to get his butt back to work. Barry thinks his job is running for office, not being a junior senator.
Of course, Dems wouldn't know how to act responsibly if they tried, so all of this leadership business is foreign to them. Stupid moonbats.

Oh and remember when Olbermann was attacking Neil Cavuto about saying democrats didn't blow the whistle on Fannie and Freddy?
Barny Frank and Chucky Shurmer thought everything was peachy.

How has John McCain and George Bush turned the bail out into political theater? John McCain is against the bail out, George Bush is for the bail out and the Obamacrats are for the bail out. So Obama means 4 more years of George Bush.
Tonight, once again, the blue blogs reporteth, Keith "Rip 'n Read" Olbermann taketh away and useth in the Media Matters Minute, claiming as thine own.
Worse was Neil Cavuto. Fixed News! [Ding!] "Also to receive a citation for Worst Timing in the World." Blue blog source: Newsliars. http://www.newshounds.us/2008/09/24/cavuto_attacks_democrats_inability_to_multitask_under_pressure_but_as_for_mccain.php
Oralmann tried a rapid pseudo-impression of Neil.
Here's Monday's Common Sense commentary in context: http://tinyurl.com/3zgtat
But on OlbyPlanet, Olbermahn, with interlaced hands, asks his credulous lemmings: "Do you want to tell Neil about John McCain saying he can't campaign and, at the same time, be one of the 100 Senators addressing the fiscal crisis? Or should I?"
Worser was two random things about sausages and hot dogs. Pass.
Worst was "The bottomless pit that is Steve Doocy of Fox Noise [Ding!]." Blue blog source: Raw Story. http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Fox_host_tells_guest_mentioning_Keating_0925.html
Johnny, do you have undistorted video of the segment in question?
Herr Olbermann did not name Mike Papantonio, limiting him to random "guest" status, nor what exactly happened. Why let facts get in the way of a good attack? After mini-impressions of Doocy, Edward R. Olbermoronn, again with the interlaced hands, began a long-winded snarky diatribe. "Look, we all know what Fox News is. We all know what 'Fox and Friends' is. You get three not very bright people, you feed them really intriguing-sounding stuff that you've made up, and you tell them that you are confiding in them by doing so. And they'll enthusiastically spout any nonsense you want them to, and they'll think it was their idea to do so. So, Doofy (yes, he said it like that) isn't on here 'cause he tried to shout down all mention of the Keating Five. That's his job. It's because of what he said as the guest got in one last reference to McKean...McCain's Keating Five scandal. Quote [Ding!]..." In a lispy schoolmarm voice that sounded nothing like Steve, Fat Ass blurted "This is not the History Channel!" Now, come the outward hands: "So, stuff from 1991 is too old, too remote, as the lawyers say? Meaning you guys think..." The hands get stretch out: "...John McCain's P.O.W. experience from the '60s should only be covered by the History Channel?" Now, the "naughty naughty" finger point: "See, 'cause if you're gonna discount what he went through in Vietnam, Steve...I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to (points finger rightward) step outside." Then, the closing boom: "Steve 'Nothing before 1992 counts' Doocy! Today's...Worst..." You know the rest.
I'm recusing myself from recapping tomorrow. My time can be better spent packing for Florida.
I'm going to enjoy watching Olbermann closely as soon as McCain/Palin take office. How in Gods name is he gonna have a show if Obama wins??? All Obermann knows is how to nip at the feet of those in power.
Factor: "John McCain is against the bail out."
REALLY?........Did he change his mind within the last hour?
Kieth O and Margaret Carlson found the way Sarah Palins answers sounded frightening.............yet Joe Biden is putting out 'frightening' gems like this.....When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened' .........Is Joe Biden fucked in the head? This is who Obama chooses as his VP???? America is waking up to the idiot Obama chose and man is it gonna show in the next 2 months as the country gets a great look at Biden.
hahahaha great little diddy Katy
I picked the wrong week to stop recording "Fox & Friends." Two WPitW nods occurred and I couldn't consult my DVR for the real thing that Keith was distorting.
REALLY?........Did he change his mind within the last hour?

If he was for it, the Republicans would not have stopped it.
Factor: "If he was for it, the Republicans would not have stopped it."
Ya don't say cowboy?
I guess he must have flip-flopped in secret and we'll hear about it soon enough?
MikeH,
What is your source for McCain being for the bail out and which version is he for. Not trying to be a smartass, would really like to know. I've heard different reports from different reporters from different news organazations.
The one thing I have noticed is Sen. McCain has not gone before the cameras to make a statement or answer questions since arriving in DC.
Well Mr. Ramjet....how about explaining to me why McCain felt like he needed to "suspend his campaign" (snicker, snicker) to rush (yuk, yuk) to Washington in order to ride to the rescue of a bail out agreement that he stated on camera was in trouble and might not pass without his help? In fact, in using his own statements, helping to pass the bill was the entire premise of this latest political stunt.
Of COURSE he hasn't gone before the cameras or made a statement yet. Nothing has happened that he can take credit for yet that he thinks might play well in the polls.
