"COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN" (8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. ET)
Host: Keith "Czechoslovakia" Olbermann
Topics:
Guests:
The opening spiel featured--what else?--another Olbermann Lie. Well, a repetition of a Golden Oldie Olby has been spewing just about every night: Palin lied about the bridge to nowhere. For those who tuned in late, Keith Oralmann insists that Palin takes credit for "always" being against the bridge. Which of course is a lie. But it ain't Palin's lie. It's Oralmann's.
youngjim:
Herbert Hoover (5 mentions "the antichrist of economics") is the name of the day, along with (so far 5 mentions) of 'nation of whiners,' or 'whiners', Phil Gramm. Gramm also gets blamed by Enron advisor Paul Krugman for all the problems in the economy. Phil Gramm may be just the man to do it: "another great depression." Geno and Obly agree that if the election is a referendum is on the economy the lefties look better. Biden is "revivified" by his attacks today. They did put his suit jacket back on, no doubt to remind him to act like an adult. [The Herbert Hoover reference is part of MSNBC's internal talking points; his writers lifted it from Chris Matthews, or his leg...one or the other. --J$]

Story #4 Liar, Liar, Campaign on Fire
Even Fixed News [Ding!] and Karl Rooooove are calling out the McCain campaign for lying (shockingly no lies listed by Olby - just a jump to an uber-lame Biden joke "McCain is Bush 44"). Keithy plays an Obama campaign commercial (I know I know, the whole show is an Obama commercial). Chris Kofinis (again?) - "McCain's a liar - McCain will backpedal - McCain's losing credibility - McCain's dirty tactics - this is good for the democrats - McCain's campaign is in a dangerous spiral". [Yeah, Kofinis again! That means another update of The List. Check it out! --J$]
Hmmm... I wonder what the latest electoral college polling numbers show? Which brings us to...
Story # 3 Interpreting the Palin Bounce
Olby snidely dumps on a McCain/Palin crowd estimate from the McCain campaign before giving his acolytes the bad news... the Electoral College move towards ::gasp:: McCain (the "Palin Bump" - the "Palin Effect").
Keith's slovenly political hack questions to Chucky Todd:
J$:
Edward R Olbermann not only gets his stories from the blue blogs--he lets them do his editing too! The clip of Rove making a vague criticism of McCain's ads was edited to remove Rove's specific criticisms of Obama's "email" ad. Just like HuffPo did! And the clip from Fox interviewing the McCain spokesman that Bathtub Boy ran? He of course ran no clip from the interview that followed, with an Obama spokesman sputtering about that selfsame email ad--the same thing HuffPo did! Note: you can see both interviews here , and you'll quickly understand why one got OlbyPlanet clippage and one didn't.
youngjim:
Karl Rove is a popular giggling point with Keef. "Calling out McCain for LYING." plays a commercial with vile, disastrous, " deception is all he has left. " Chris Kofinis, McCain campaign suffers from farmhouse thinking. "if you come up with stinking lies, lies, lies, lies, et. al. "death spiral" due to (LIES). did he mention that McCain campaign has no credibility? Natch, they lie.
"Bushed" features a lawn sign with exploding Twin Towers by some 527 type group (i.e. not very professional looking), Keef uses this to remind us that Republicans were in charge then (he doesn't say for 9 months after an 8 year administration) and repeats the charge that McCain sez he knows how to get those responsible but will only share it with us if he is elected. "He's going to need a new AD!" Smirk, quick cut.
Olby and Toddy keep talking about the "fundamentals" quote but I missed the memo on 'dat one. McCain in the membrane, Obama did not call Sarah Palin a pig. "The McCain phony outrage level is orange." fake look of outrage. quick cut.
Tanning bed gets 5 mentions tonite. She hires her "crony friends", uses private email accounts to do business, and fires people. Kisses Tina Fey's butt. putting a lot of hope and dreams that the Tina Fey bit will hurt the Gov Sarah. Howard Fineman "huffing and puffing by Obama camp followers" heh. sez a lot of people have tanning bed cuz it's dark up there. She paid for it Keith admits.
SeattleJohn:
Palin is flavor of the month... Shockingly, Keith spews negative Palin stories from the NYT (thin gruel). Keith notes Palin's conducted improper campaign business (probably just trying to be fair for all those Obama/Rezko and Obama "I paid off my wife's employer with pork" stories he's done). And, shockingly Palin's enemies have bad things to say about her. Howie and Keith yuk it up about those crazy Alaskans. Keith thinks it'a a VP disqualifier to own a tanning bed. [Tanning beds do cost real money: about the equivalent of five John Edwards haircuts. --J$]

There is dramatic irony in Keith "Orange-Glo" Olbermann criticizing Palin's use of a tanning bed.

Keith Olbermann commented on the latest electoral college numbers and couldn't disguise his not so subtle glee over the Lehman brothers bankruptcy--still too soon to muffle the "Palin Bomb". Olbermann seems to have no problem celebrating the pain suffered by the hundreds of people who lost their jobs today, on the chance it might help his horse in this election. Completely shameless.
MikeC:
In the Media Matters Minute, we had Sean, we had Bill, we had Rupe. Since we had Bill, that meant O'Reilly Attack #510, which sort of seeped into the Worst nod. So, we'll knock these down in order.
Worse was Sean Hannity for criticism of Obama. Fixed News! [Ding!] Future combat systems! McCain attack.
Worse was Attack #510. Billo the Clown! [Ding!] Cindy Adams was attacked, too, for writing a positive piece in the New York Post about Bill's new memoir "A Bold, Fresh Piece of Humanity." (Or as Sister Mary Lurana put it some 50 years ago, "William! You are a *bold,* fresh piece of humanity!") On OlbyPlanet, KeithO the Klown besmirched the title. How would Sister Mary feel? "His mantra," Keithy scoffed. Bill "reads Republican Talking Points [Ding!] for a living." Hypocrite! He "exposes" himself as such "every 12 minutes." "So, succeeding in your career is out." Bill's critics "make millions off criticizing you." So, "humiliating your critics is out, too. (fake hesitation): Better luck...next life?"
Worst was Mr. Murdoch. The down under pirate voice was used, featuring the guttural (or guttersnipural) "Arr." What Olbsessor quoted made another Mike C. prediction come true. Thursday at Inside Cable News, I left the following comment:
"This is WPitW fodder. I know it."The fodder was Rupert saying "it's okay for [Keith] to criticize Bill. *And Bill shouldn't be so sensitive. He should ignore that.*" The thing is BOR *has* ignored Man on Fan. The only time I heard his name uttered was when Bill quoted a column from former NBC military analyst Col. Ken Allard (in the wake of Bill Arkin's "mercenary--oops, sorry, volunteer--force" line), botching the pronunciation. Where do you think we get "Olbermahn" from? O'Reilly has instead focused on the media corruption at (MS)NBC, and gone after their parent company, GE. Isn't that better than getting into a feud with Krazy Keith?
Back on OlbyPlanet, Fat Ass feigned shock and pleasure in Rupert suggesting BOR should ignore his Olbsessed fan and not be sensitive, cheap shotting Murdoch at the same time by saying "you've ruined one country and you're trying to ruin another country." OlbyLie: "I gave you value for money launching Fox Sports Net..." Keith joined what is now FSN in 1999, one year after various regional sports channels merged to become Fox Sports Net. "You're telling O'Reilly to ignore my bait? The bait that the poor dumb fish takes every time?" Within seconds, Another Olbermann Lie! As I said above, Bill has not taken the bait. Maybe he did a few years ago, but no longer. Pretending to choke up, Edward R. Olbermoronn finished: "And...and you call yourself a businessman?!" What can you say after that? Unbelievable.

Countdown is a moonbat parade
One hour of endless tirade
No rebut from the right
Because Olby can't fight
And his "news show" is a charade.
And that's The Hour of Spin for this, the 863rd day since the declaration that "Karl Rove will in fact be indicted". Great thanks to our OlbyWatch recappers who did such an assiduously good job tonight with a thoroughly thankless task!
Johnny, you sure have a cadre of outstanding commentators contributing to the recaps.
You guys are beyond well done in the excellent territory.
Special thanks to Mike C for the glorious new word you coined, guttersnipural! Keith and guttersnipural is a match made in heaven.
Thanks, Grammie.
I forgot to mention that Keithy used the Ted Baxter voice when quoting BOR, who was being quoted by Cindy Adams in her review of his memoir. Here is the review, as shown on BillOReilly.com:

Well, MikeC, Olbermann only mimics Cindy Adam's voice when he's home alone standing in front of his bathroom mirror wearing dangling earrings.
