OLBY NEWS ALERT!
Sez The New York Times:
MSNBC drops Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews from anchor chair... David Gregory will anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night....
The change -- which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle -- is a direct result of tensions associated with the channel's perceived shift to the political left.... In interviews, 10 current and former staff members said that long-simmering tensions between MSNBC and NBC reached a boiling point during the conventions. "MSNBC is behaving like a heroin addict," one senior staff member observed. "They're living from fix to fix and swearing they'll go into rehab the next week."... "They have banked the entirety of the network on Keith Olbermann," one employee said.... Just last year, Mr. Olbermann signed a four-year, $4-million-a-year contract with MSNBC. NBC is close to supplementing that contract with Mr. Olbermann, extending his deal through 2013 -- and ensuring that he will be on MSNBC through the next election.
Woo freaking hoo!!!! Olby's going to have to take his phoney tears, enormous ass, snide unfair remards and outright lies elsewhere...er, back to his own crappy show. Still, fantastic news!!
The blue blogs are on red alert too, urging their readers to call, write, boycott or complain about this.
Yes, lefties, please boycott MSNBC. BTW, KO's probably happy -- he doesn't have to face opposing view points live, on air. We all know how allergic Olbermann is to you know, actual real life conservatives. He can now bloviate from the safety of his sock puppet stage.
This is wonderful. This is sure to send Olbermann into a paranoid tail spin. How long before Olbermann walks out? I don't think he will even finish his contract out. We will soon see Olbermann on Real Time on HBO playing parrot to Bill Maher.
Proof there is a God.
Johnny,
You and Robert should be proud of yourselves. This is just the first step in annihilating Olbermann and his ilk. You're fighting the good fight and I know it's been hard but you guys persevered.
Thank-you. And you know that people like me will do what ever is necessary to bring this phony down.
Mark
With Olbermann's halftime gig over, I suspect KO's hitting the bathtub hard tonight.
This news confirms everything we have all know for a long time: KO is a political hack pretending to be a "journalist".
The only thing left is to "countdown" how long it is going to take KO to have a complete meltdown and be fired by NBC.
I'm thinking it's only a matter of weeks.
it sure was hard to sign in to this sight. It was worth it though to publicly gloat over olby's downfall!!
I guess there is just no way they could keep saying that Chrissy and KO could be unbiased in their role as "news" anchor..it's always been a joke when it was no secret that they along with most of MSNBC is in the tank for Lord Obama....New Murrow indeed.
New Murrow indeed.
Folks,
I believe this development may actually trend towards pressure on Olbermann to provide time for rebuttal on Countdown.
"pressure on Olbermann to provide time for rebuttal on Countdown.' Cecelia
Now even with this news today I don't see KO going anywhere yet but if what Cecelia wrote was to happen then that might be something that could mark the end of KO on MSNBC.
Because it's no secret that KO can not handle his own in a debate and falls apart when challenged..Christopher Hitchens prove that when he left KO a shaken mess when they locked horns a few years ago..hell KO could handle Jackie Mason when he some how got on Countdown and began straying from KO approve talking points.New Murrow indeed.
Maybe Brokaw, Williams and the NBC suits are loyal OlbyWatch readers (or commenters). It helps that FatAss and The Drooler actually are tools.
The surge is working. Let's keep hitting harder.
Was Edward R. Murrow ever demoted during his stellar career at CBS NEWS?
The revelation that really shows there is a civil war going on at this once proud and honorable news network...(and the part of the article that gave me some relief and hope NBC NEWS is not totally gone to trash heap):
"Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams, the past and present anchors of 'NBC Nightly News,' have told friends and colleagues that they are finding it tougher and tougher to defend the cable arm of the news division, even while they anchored daytime hours of convention coverage on MSNBC and contributed commentary each evening."
###
Are we going to see yet another defensive Olbermann on DAILY KOS speaking of the Tom Brokaw e-mail, folded in his wallet, that he takes out multiple times a day and reads for encouragement?
Perhaps he'll claim Williams paid him a compliment with a rap on the back in 2003 that confirms he's behind him as a respected colleague 100%!
I am going to pass by DAILY KOS this morning to see Olbermann's fellow radicals' crazed reactions. Perhaps there will be the helpful commiseration among the haters for which Olbermann has expressed so much gratitude in the past......normal people call it WHINING.
Tim Russert came to my mind last week as the media reacted with such severe bias over the Palin nomination announcement . I recalled how he had expressed such excitement about covering this election. Now with a dynamic woman in the mix, this election is more exciting than ever and I hope NBC NEWS tries to simply REPORT events instead of creating them OR making their employees the center of coverage. Olbermann has always been about pushing HIS agenda and putting HIMSELF into the spotlight. He needs to be relegated back to his slanted show AND, during election coverage, he should be labeled as the partisan he always has been. He should be balanced with a moderate point of view during that coverage, to be fair and balanced.
We will see. VERO POSSUMUS!
There is one negative to all this.
I had this fantasy of seeing KO, as MSNBC election night anchor, (possibly) announcing to the world that John McCain had won the election. The look on his face would have been priceless.
It's a glorious day in Olbermannwatchville. Thanks to JD and Bob who've been railing against this idiot almost from Day 1. Does anyone actually believe the BS that Olbermann is shoveling here about how MSNBC wants to extend his contract? He'll be lucky if they let him serve out the rest of his current contract. Whatever, he's been neutralized and exposed as a partisan hack. And about damn time.
I'm a day late in responding (I was out all day yesterday and worn out when I got home), but I have this to say:
The good news is Keith and Chris have been dropped from Election coverage. The bad news is NBC wants to extend Keith's contract!
'morning alfred e.
how are things over in daily KAZI land
There is plenty of hate at the KAZ
EdwardROlberman,
Your comments are eerily familiar in tone, timbre and tenor.
By any chance, have you ever used the monikers 'unfairandunbalanced,' Newshounds are #1, 'All News is Fixed on Fox,' or 'its Olbt time?'
I think our resident troll is in a bad mood today. LOL!!!!!!!!!
EdwardROlberman,
WOW! I thought that was you.
I didn't know you were a Vet. Heck, Man, you should have said something over at Dollar's when you were changing names all the time.
How old are you?
