TV Newser keeps us abreast of the ongoing soap opera, which we might call "Days Of Our MSNBC Lives."
MSNBC is doing its best to tamp down the rampant rumoring, but Phil Griffin et al. can't explain why Keith Olbermann is "anchoring" the GOP convention from New York City.
And Chris Matthews didn't do anything to lessen the tension when he said of Olby:
"He's very professional, very orderly in his way," Matthews says of Olbermann. "He operates in a very professional, predictable...well he's obviously a strong performer. But he obviously operates in a very orderly...and I don't mean this as a put-down but...predictable. He's a very strongly predicable person in the way of his professionalism. I'm uneven and, what's the right word, flamboyant and impulsive."
C'mon Chris: Next time, say what you really think: Kommisar Keith is a Kontrol Freak.
And FTV Live adds this:
Many long time NBC staffers feel that the crew at MSNC is dragging them through the mud. Last night at the RNC, Veep pick Sarah Palin in her speech said that she was not going to Washington seeking the opinion of "reporters and commentators." At that point the crowd started angrily chanting NBC, NBC, NBC.
Republicans obviously hate NBC--not just because it is the parent to MSNBC (don't try to pretend otherwise!), but for the snarky anti-Republican attitude that fills such NBC talent as Andrea Mitchell.
So NBC = "Nothing But Contempt." That's the attitude that NBC/MSNBC show toward Republicans and conservatives, and as we saw last night, both on the stage and in the audience, the feeling is mutual.

I suppose it's obvious, but I don't buy Griffin's explanation that keeping KO in NY was his idea. Neither does the NY Post, apparently. Before the convention started, a number of people on this site predicted that he would find an excuse not to show up.
Anyway, considering his past history, I'm more inclined to believe that KO just chickened out of going to St. Paul. If having to cover Monica Lewinsky gave him the "dry heaves," going to a Republican convention might put him into intensive care.
Great piece!
Let's start a "Free Keith Olbermann" committee!
Obviously, MSNBC is holding him prisoner at 30 Rock. He can't even fly out of New York to appear on Morning Joe-- a casual off-the-cuff venue with a "mixed" (politically) crowd....
Too "unpredictable"....
Oh man, I switched over there and saw Matthews in a round table discussion. I swear they were at a funeral. Pasty skin dripping off their long dropped jaws - PRICELESS!
Maybe the anti-NBC chanting at last night's convention will convince NBC that they've got a little problem with KOMSNBC. But I doubt it.

NBC is getting what it paid for - derision and contempt from viewers because of their choice to be blatant left-wing water carriers for Barack Obama. No one in their right mind actually thinks any NBC organization (expecially MSNBC) is providing unbiased news and information. Tom Brokaw would be wise to avoid these clowns and go back into retirement.
Andrea Mitchell has come across as particularly smug and obviously uncomfortable covering the Palin nomination. She is one of those Georgetown cocktail party attendees that lives in that bubble Palin was referring to.
I have been watching PBS with Jim Lerer more and more.
I'm wondering if some of the sourness we see right now in Chris Matthews is that he's woken up to the fact that his and Olbermann's tight control of Obama critics during their coverage of the DNC convention, was less about respecting the man who will fulfill the dream of Camelot.... and MORE about facilitating the foillibles of Olbermann... :D
FYI: I just visited my local GOP campaign office to get yard signs, bumperstickers, etc., and the staff there told me they have not seen this high of a level of excitement in quite a long time. They said the base is energized and they have spoken to many DemMcCrats who are voting for McCain/Palin. I signed up to get a courtesy call when campaign merchandise arrives, and I was one of many, many names on the wait list. Very good news from a Blue State.
Shep just said more than 37 million households watched Sarah Palin speak last night. Barry got about 36, I believe. Har!
I just checked ratings info on Drudge, and Barry beat Palin by just over 1 million viewers. Palin beat Joe Biden by about 13 million viewers. Double Har!
Listen to bitter Obama gripe in an presser following his BOR interview! The complaints of the press and the poll numbers are getting to him, apparetnly.
The tank-dwelling media is now asking planted questions about Barry's community organizer experience. Barry: People distrust lawyers more than they do politicians, so I would not brag about your legal experience.
He is really cranky. This is how we know Palin was a good pick. Now he is pulling an attitude on the reporters. Bad move, Barry. He sidesteps a straight answer (shocker!) to a question about the Palin selection and how it will affect campaign tactics. What a wuss.
Almost 38 Million viewers! He, he, he....
kos was bragging about how the Dems did better on night 2, and predicted the numbers would probably be depressed because the country is just not excited about the Repubs....
No one wants to watch the GOP convention

Will his slave, Keith Olbermann, talk about this with a straight face?
VERO POSSUMUS!
Olbermannw was shell shocked last night. He had nothing to say, Plain nuked them.
Hannity is cracking me up. He just noted how cranky poor Barry was during the presser. He said that the Rasmussen poll where 40 percent of respondents thought Sarah Palin was more experienced to be president than Barry must have him in a bad mood. And she's the VP candidate!
Cavuto is interviewing the I-Man now via phone. Says Palin is a tough act to follow.
I-Man says Maureen Dowd ought to be put in jail for being a moron.
Phil,
Following that logic Olbytard should be executed.
Buchanan to Matthews on Hardball today at about 5:05 ET:
"What's your problem with strong women, buddy?... You had to apologise for how you treated Hillary...The MS in MSNBC should not stand for misogyny"
OUCH! I know bathtub boy heard that one.
Give 'em hell Pitchfork Pat!
Ouch, oh that stung! Way to go, Pat!
lol Pat's MSNBC-control-chip must have shorted out for a second. Will he be gone soon?
Oops!
CBSNEWS POLL: ALL TIED UP [AGAIN]...
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/04/opinion/polls/main4416798.shtml
Isn't Andrea Mitchell married to Methusala the candidate for the worlds ugliest person and former chairman of the FED? He was the guy who busted the stock market in 1998 because he felt "assets were overvalued" while bonds (which are for assholes) were his favored investment and were getting killed at the time?
There is going to come a time when Immelt is going to say enought is enough. I know him. He is a relatively decent person. He will get a belly full of Fatass embarassing not only an institurtion with the history of NBC, but more importantly GE itself. Let hims self-destruct and let's enjoy the process. The longer he waits to do so, the greater the implosion will be.
"Cbs must have called people from Alaska and Arizona and still couldnt spin the number toward McCain"
Let me understand this. CBS. The network of Dan Rather. Mr Ambush. Lie, whatever to push a false story. Obviously a registered Republican correct? Sure their polls would be a lie and slanted towards JM. You freaking moron. You must be 2 years old. How can you handle a keyboard on a computer?
"How can you handle a keyboard on a computer?"
10K chimpanzees banging on 10K keyboards for 10K days produces either Miller's "The Tropic of Cancer' or Ewetwic Wright Owchestwa's weview of the Tiffany Network News Poll and the boring, sleep inducing RNC with its straight-talking Maverick and its straight-shooting, pistol-packing Hockey Momma.
Right......
