Although your insertions of what MikeH has said about me and my ideas and comments leave mikeh wondering who I am and why I am a conservative, I shrug him off as an extreme left wing stooge that thinks that he can go over the top of me and most people here. Most of us have learned here that MikeH's ideologies come from a person that has been harbored and coddled most of his life. His attacks from the left leave one to only imagine why he supports people like Farakhan, Ayers, Wright, Acorn, Barney Frank, Obama, Olbermann and a long list of others. The woman who called Obama an Arab is one of the very few that is the misfortunate to listen and read and get correct information on the candidates. As a neighbor who lives in our subdivision that is from Jordan, is a doctor, he has stated over and over that once a muslim always a muslim.
No mikeH, the system is not poor, but is corrupt. You know it and everybody else knows it, McCain and Obama are not what our real choices are or were. These 2 people were forced onto us and we must live with those choices. My comment was not politically motivated, it wasn't even partisan. With exception though, Mayor Bradley was the mayor of los angeles California and it was Marion Barry who was mayor of D.C.
The difference between the 2 black mayors were, Bradley was a GOOD, retired l.a.p.d. cop turned mayor who ran a tight ship, I know from experience as I am a retired cop from L.A. also and worked with him under his term. On the other hand, Marion Barry was a cocaine head from the get go. That is the difference between the blacks of D.C. and L.A. But then again, the blacks out in L.A. said "go o.j. go".

Now I have about 30 more people to go and I don't know who they're voting for, but these were the answers I got in regards to why they're voting for him. I also had about 10 people who are voting for McCain, and outside of two they all made sane arguments as to why they are voting for him.

Well, I don't know how "obvious" I made it because the exact wording was a lot more racial than what I put down. I toned down their responses, so as not to make it obvious to what race said what, but I guess no matter how politically correct one tries to be it will never be enough for some. The racial makeup, by the way, was 24 whites, 3 Hispanics and 5 blacks if that clears it up for the politically correct minded side of you.

And, as for the "education" part of your reply, 17 of those polled who are voting for obama have either gone to college or are presently in college, so it doesn't say a whole lot for our education system, and brings us back to my reply that we are in deep trouble.

As far as being idealistic, that is what someone would say who doesn't want to hear the truth, because in their "idealistic" world they have to believe that the people who are voting for this socialistic bleeding heart, really took the time and looked at what both men have accomplished and what they offer to come up with their decision without any prejudice involved.

Sorry MikeH, the one thing I have never been called in my life is idealistic, and it is the furthest from the truth when it comes to me, so I get no "comfort" in hearing all these reasons as to why these people are voting for obama.

Comfort is the last thing I have gotten so far from these responses, and the word I would use that stands out like a soar thumb through it all is...sadness. Sadness, in knowing how the possibility that the next president of the US may have gotten elected because of the supreme stupidity and prejudice's from his voters who disregarded all the important reasons (at least from what I've gotten from my small poll) as to why one should vote for the president.

I too would have the hardest time of my life having to deal with that scenario, but then again Lyndon Johnson came along (although Kennedy started it) and wreaked havoc with his welfare programs and somehow we still remained strong.

I just don't think that if obama is elected that he would try to implement any blatant socialistic reforms because I believe that the American public wouldn't stand for it.

Of course if he did, and it was obvious that he was going that route, then like you I would probably change my undying support for the president, but I pray and believe it would never come to that.

Even with Carter, who I strongly disagreed with in nearly all his decisions, I still backed him and focussed only on the good that he did, as opposed to emphasizing the bad, yet if I was to see a president, and I haven't in my lifetime, truly go the route of socialism then that would be a whole other story.

Well, from what I have seen from my poll at work, their answers to why they are voting for obama *strongly* suggests differently. Patriotic duty to challenge assertions is one thing, but to challenge assertions strictly because you don't think the man can speak as well as your candidate or because he happens to be white, I wouldn't call a true patriot.

1) voting "out of ignorance" is not a "reason" to vote for someone.

Not really.

You equate level of education with knowledge and assume that those with a higher level of education or not ignorant. As we all know, that is not the reality. A few points for your enlightenment:

1. The Pew Research poll that indicates Obama supporters have a higher level of education than McCain supporters is skewed in Obama's favor by the make-up of the sample population.

2. Obama maintains a significant lead over McCain with young voters. As we all discovered later in life, we were not nearly as smart as we thought we were, we had little useful knowledge and most of what we did was done "out of ignorance."

3. As Ann Coulter so eloquently pointed out; democrats are not smart.
