This is the recappers' comment thread for Countdown, October 22 2008. Post your comments on tonight's Hour of Spin. Note everything salient: smears, distortions, bias, lies, the works. Watch the first showing, the repeat, or view the videos at the Countdown website. It falls on you--the clear-thinking readers of Olbermann Watch--to document Oralmann's diseased rantings for posterity.
Tonight Monkeymann's "kampaign komments", duly pimped at his blog--will of course be another attack on Sarah Palin. Why not? That never gets old.
Be an Olbermann Watch blogger--without all the muss and fuss! Comments are open: post your analysis of tonight's Hour of Spin here, and you may see your insights later tonight in an official OlbyWatch Recap.
There's no bigger coward on earth
Than the slovenly hack of large girth
He's picking on Palin
But his jokes are failin'
Keith's been a disappointment from birth
After a commercial for the "W." movie, we got #2: The Media Matters Minute.
Worse was Rudy Giuliani. Blue blog source: Think Propaganda. http://thinkprogress.org/2008/10/21/rudy-rush-clinton-911/
Since Rudy was on Rush Limbaugh's radio show, Comedian! [Ding!] Keith "Don't call me Frank Caliendo" Olbermann trotted out supposed impressions of Rush and Rudy as he read the parts of the TP transcript highlighted in bold. "Endless desperate attempt by the lunatic [Ding!] far-right [Ding!]." Sadder than usual. After ripping and reading the 2006 quote on TP, Oralmann entoned: "You sold your soul."
Worser was something involving this year's Nike Women's Marathon. Blue blog source: San Francisco Chronicle. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/10/22/BACI13MAIT.DTL
Worst was Rep. Michele Bachmann. Blue blog source: Think Propaganda...for the fourth time in two nights! We might as well start calling this the Think Propaganda (or Progress) Minute.
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/10/22/bachmann-anti-american-3/
Monkeymann: "That would make her a liar." Ha-ha, her opponent is getting lots of donations and the National Republican Party is pulling Bachmann ads (Blue blog source: HuffPo). http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/22/gop-pulling-its-ads-from_n_136941.html
Merkle's sing-songy sinister reply: "Bye!" Then, he concluded with "Michele Bachmann, as of today, a likely lame duck Congresswoman, and today's Worst..." Blah blah yada.
Meanwhile, the real Bachmann was speaking to the eeevil O'Reilly, something our slovenly political hack would never dare do. Unless someone agrees with Keithy 100% honest Native American, they'll never appear on OlbyPlanet.
#1: The third consecutive All-Important Demo Blockbuster Special Education Kampaign Komment, pre-pimped by Oralmann in Kos Kountry. More grilling of Sarah Palin, as if she actually watches the Hour of Spin.
Hidden in the Best Persons segment, we got O'Reilly Attack #520. Our humble correspondent has signed a new four-year contract to continue "The O'Reilly Factor." So, Keith "Man on Fan" Olbermann just had to weigh in. Likely blue blog source: Oralmann's own blog. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/22/83620/986/220/638474
Billo the Clown! [Ding!] Fox Noise! [Ding!] Then, as we knew he would, with "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang playing underneath him, KeithO the Klown gleefully reported that he won in the key demo last night at 8PM.
ORALMANN: And in the spirit of helping Bill celebrate...and plan ahead, this afternoon, the ratings came out for last night, and "Countdown" beat Billo [Ding!] in the coveted 25 to 54-year-old viewers group 935,000 to 742,000. We were the highest-rated show in cable news. Funny doggone thing: Rachel Maddow beat him, too. 867,000 to 742,000! She was the *second*-highest rated show in cable news. (A good dose of repetition in your rhetoric, eh, Fat Ass?) Oh, and you know, our replay...beat *his* replay by about 6%! So, happy new contract, Bill! We hope you'll enjoy every minute of those four years...(flicking papers off the desk): in third place!!!
Here are the rest of the ratings for last night: http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/10/22/cable-news-ratings-for-tuesday-october-21/6684
In the 35 to 64-year-old age group, which Merkle likes to ignore, "The Factor" beat "Countdown" 1,356,000 to 1,240,000. Rachel Maddow lost to BOR 1,356,000 to 1,229,000. And it's unfair to compare 11PM reruns to 8PM live shows.
In total viewers, "The Factor" beat Olbermoronn 3,386,000 to 2,195,000. I could throw Madcow into this, but you get the picture.
By the way, BOR brought up the new contract, and corrected OlbyFriend Howard Kurtz, in tonight's Pinheads and Patriots segment. http://tinyurl.com/5cb6bx
#5: There's a new McCain ad with small business owners proclaiming "I'm Joe the Plumber." Lots of McGraphics with "Mc" added to McNearly every McWord. Again, I say: McGive me a break, McBathtub Boy. McCillizza of the McFix on McWashingtonPost.com played McSockpuppet for four McMinutes. "The clock is ticking," said Chris at the end of the segment. Always a McPleasure.
Next, Monkeymann zeroed in on Joe the Plumber, playing the full exchange with Obama from October 11. The lower-third graphic read "Joe And B.O." I know those are Obama's initials, but if Olby is implying what I think he is with that graphic, then that is lamer than lame, not to mention disgusting. After the exchange tape completed, Obamamann provided more PR for his savior by concluding that McCain wants to spread the wealth, too.
#4: McCain and Palin sit down with Brian Williams. Merkle sensed "a tenseness" as he played the full interview. Wow, Oralmann hasn't said much since Cillizza left.
#3: An Al Qaeda website endorses McCain! Say what? Well, says the Washington Post. Richard "Your Government Has Failed You" Clarke told Herr Olbermann everything wanted to hear, including hearing something from "non-partisans in the CIA." "As I said, always a pleasure, sir. Thanks for your time tonight."
I can't keep doing this by myself, people.
The way that I was brought up to see the world, this is a lie. Maybe I don't see morality the same way as those who love him do.
"Obama said. 'If you make less than a quarter of a million dollars a year — which includes 98 percent of small-business owners — you won't see your taxes increase one single dime'."
His tax plan says that the two top statutory rates will go up. That means that at about $164,000 the individual rate will go from 33% to 36% and above $250,000 it will go from 36% to 39%. That is a 10% tax increase for incomes UNDER $250,000. At the 36% rate on $164,000, an individual rate will be higher than the statutory rate of 35% applied to companies like Berkshire Hathaway and Microsoft. As of their last year end, these two companies had a combined amount of cash on hand of nearly $50,000,000. Their principal owners are two of the richest men in the world. Yet "Joe the Plumber" and all the small business people will be paying taxes at a higher statutory rate. Not only at $250,000 but also at $164,000.
The only thing I cannot figure out is why McCain's people and the RNC can't or won't deal with this and call him out. No matter. I have no porblem doing that. THE MAN IS A LIAR.
EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE Me. Problem.
You're excused. :-D
O'Reilly Attack alert: The infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann may attack Bill O'Reilly tonight off his appearance "The View" yesterday. Blue blog source: HuffPo. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/22/bill-oreilly-on-the-view_n_136846.html?page=5&show_comment_id=17131105
It will either be a WPitW attack or a full segment attack with a sockpuppet guest. Expect the supposed Ted Baxter voice as Oralmann reads the mini-quotes listed in the HuffPo link. The "condensed" video may also be used in the case of a full segment.
BOR may address Oralmann's demo win proclamation from last night in tonight's Reality Check segment. As usual, Keithy will not be mentioned by name or program, the way it should be.
