This is the recappers' comment thread for Countdown, October 6 2008.
This is a special thread for you to post your comments on tonight's Hour of Spin. Note everything salient: smears, distortions, bias, lies, the works. Watch the first showing, the repeat, or view the videos at the Countdown website. We won't be able to do any recapping ourself tonight, so it falls on you--the clear-thinking readers of Olbermann Watch--to take up the slack and document Oralmann's diseased rantings for posterity.
Be an Olbermann Watch blogger--without all the muss and fuss! Comments are open: post your analysis of tonight's Hour of Spin here, and you may see your insights later tonight in an official OlbyWatch Recap.
The KO krazies are all worked up that Lawrence O'Donnell has been allowed to return to CD after his reprimand and punitive time out. I guess even KO had to admit that John Edwards is a loser and that LO was correct in calling him that. Of course KO will never admit he was wrong; he was just doing the Kossacks' bidding.
I was going to chip something in, but I can see there won't be a recap tonight anyway...
John-O,
Please send it in anyway. I read all of the comments. This is the only way for some of the site's readers to get the latest on Olby. I choose not to watch the show. I'd rather get the analysis from level-headed souls who sacrifice their well-being to delve into the den of despair.
Olbermann would be the ideal subject for any psychiatrist.
Well, at this point it's pretty late to get into a whole recap, but the operative theme was *guilt by association* (actually the title of story # 4 on the Countdown website). Stories # 5, 4, & 1 deal with this issue. Keith devoted a good part of the show to downplaying Obama's negative past associations, while of course attacking McCain/Palin for making them a campaign issue. In fact, he called Palin a demagogue at least twice for bringing up William Ayers. In the # 1 story, Keith delighted in Obama communications director Robert Gibbs aggressively questioning Hannity on whether he's an anti-semite because he gave a platform on Hannity's America to Andy Martin, some anti-Obama guy who has said anti-semitic things, thereby attempting to demonstrate the absurdity of *guilt by association*, giving Hannity a taste of his own medicine (as you may know, Hannity has been heavily pushing Obama's past ties to radical people, in this specific case, William Ayers). Make of this what you will.
There was more to the show than just that theme, but if you really can't stomach Oralmann, and I don't blame you, just read from the Countdown website how the five stories are titled, and you'll get the gist of the segment. Yes, his show's bias really is that transparent. The fix is in, and it's not at "Fixed News" [ding!].
Caught the last snippet of Countdown for Wednesday. Could there be anything more ironic than one-view-only Olbermann giving Hannity and Colmes show guests advice on how to circumvent a potential shout down by their political opposition hosts?
I know. That's like getting advice on women from Urkel.
