Here's your open thread for tonight's Obamarama. Not only will A-Mess-NBC abandon any pretense of journalistic ethics and broadcast the Obamamercial at 8:00 pm, followed by a half-hour of Bathtub Boy's adulatory drivel...they will give the infamous, deplorable one a new hour at 10:00 pm to regurgitate his sycophantic fawning all over again! It falls on you--the clear-thinking readers of Olbermann Watch--to document Oralmann's diseased rantings for posterity.
Be an Olbermann Watch blogger--without all the muss and fuss! Comments are open!

Barkley might call it "code"
But Olby and Barkley aren't bright
Sorry to get off topic, but the "Heroes Die Hard" Google ad smearing John McCain is really bothering me. The ad says that none of McCain's fellow POWs are campaigning for him, which is a lie. About two dozen have campaigned for him at one time or another, including his good friend and Hanoi Hilton cell mate, Col. Bud Day. Col. Day is a Medal of Honor winner and is the most highly decorated living American, so I doubt very much that he would throw in his lot with a traitor. Why does such a blatantly misleading ad even appear on this page?
to follow Rick's lead and get off topic, I actually had alot of respect for McCain and was hoping he'd get on the ticket in '00. Unfortunately, we know how that story unfolded. Throughout the past 8 yrs, I saw him go from an honorable man disenchanted by the negative presidential campaign to loyally following the very person who ran that campaign against him. Even so, I thought him to be one of the most well intentioned candidates on the republican ticket during the primaries. Once he won the nomination, I was deeply disappointed by every action/decision he took/made. From hiring Rove's proteges and big Washington lobbyists on his campaign, to his political VP pick, he proved himself to be a person who is willing to use the same "fear tactics" of Rove and do everything and anything simply out of desperation.
I actually feel sorry for the guy. But not sorry enough to put my country on the line.
He has flipflopped on every key issue from 8 yrs ago in order to win the votes of the neo-conservative Bush base and alienated moderates in both his party and opposing party. I genuinely don't believe McCain has the ability to unite the country just as Bush was unable to. When catering to such a radical right wing base full of hatred and violence, there's no way he can. I think once the elections are over, he will be doing alot of self reflection ...
Can anyone genuinely say that you were not inspired by the Obama-mercial? He has been consistently one of the most positive, inspirational, and inclusive candidates in recent history refusing to take the bait in unnecessary mudslinging despite the extremely negative campaign against him. People are calling him terrorist, muslim, arab, elitist, socialist, communist, and literally making death threats.. and he hasn't flinched and continues to instill hope in America in a time of crisis.
Nope
yes, I can genuinely say that I was NOT inspired by his 30 minute infomercial. He's getting campaign money from outside of the country, possible from terrorist countries. His propaganda machine is in full tilt. Obama's past associations with these terrorists only provide one quote..... if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck?
Sorry freedomfightr22, I am a free thinker and demand that hopeful rhetoric be backed up by facts.
I, in fact, believe that as Obama raises the country's expectations based on falsehoods, the eventualy, and unavoidably, a reality check will under a "President Obama" will actually divide our country even more into distant camps that really distrust government MORE and eachother based on class envy and fear.
Obama was once again nonspecific and even misleading in his presentation last night.

"THE SPIN: 'Here's what I'll do. Cut taxes for every working family making less than $200,000 a year. Give businesses a tax credit for every new employee that they hire right here in the U.S. over the next two years and eliminate tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Help homeowners who are making a good faith effort to pay their mortgages, by freezing foreclosures for 90 days. And just like after 9-11, we'll provide low-cost loans to help small businesses pay their workers and keep their doors open.'
"THE FACTS: His proposals—the tax cuts, the low-cost loans, the $15 billion a year he promises for alternative energy, and more—cost money, and the country could be facing a record $1 trillion deficit next year. Indeed, Obama recently acknowledged—although not in his commercial—that: 'The next president will have to scale back his agenda and some of his proposals.'
"THE SPIN: 'We are currently spending $10 billion a month in Iraq, when they have a $79 billion surplus. It seems to me that if we're going to be strong at home as well as strong abroad that we've got to look at bringing that war to a close.' These lines in the ad were taken from a debate with McCain.
"THE FACTS: Obama was once and very often definitive about getting combat troops out in 16 months (At times during the primaries, he promised to do so within a year). More recently, without backing away explicitly from the 16-month withdrawal pledge, he has talked of the need for flexibility. In the primaries, it would have been a jarring departure for him to have said merely that 'we've got to look at' ending the war. As for Iraq's surplus, it's true that Iraq could end up with a surplus that large, but that hasn't happened yet."

So Obama once again illustrated he is not a new leader willing to be honest and realistic to the American people and his grandiose plans will hit a reality both in economic and security challeneges as well as the political composition of the possible very left Congress if he becomes President. I will not be prepared to accept anything less than what is promised now and I know those Americans who are not ideological and think for themselves will also not be swept up by a President Obama claiming he has to break his campaign promises of lower taxes for 95% of the American people because of some "national crisis."
The candidate of "change" and "inspiration" can't seem to get out of bed in time for Senate Hearings...

What a hoot. That's one lazy Kenyan.
"Top hits of the YouTube election"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/us_elections_2008/7699509.stm
"The film, titled Dear Mr Obama, is the most-viewed election-related video on the YouTube website, attracting more than 11 million hits.
"Made by an Iraq war returnee, it's an example of how ordinary Americans have used the website to get their voice heard.
"In this election, YouTube has provided a new way for people to consume and communicate their views - from the serious to the silly, the official to the outrageous"

If you have not seen it, I highly recommend it because it is the important issue ignored by Obama and his sycophants in this election cycle......

Even if the better man loses Tuesday, this honorable veteran, Joe Cook, can still be proud he publically announced his support based on the facts and history of an important battle of freedom over tyranny.
Wow.. SoCal and merkle.. Thank you for making me proud to represent the progressive party. Your comments are laced with the exact ignorance and racism that McCain and Palin are depending on to win this election and have turned off so many intellectual republicans.
Terrorist?? Kenyan?? Why stop there? What about the newer claims that he is a communist and wants to make the national anthem into a rap song?
ah, you guys crack me up... and scare me a little..
If you are so scared of black people, maybe you should look into moving into a country that isn't so full of "colored folks".
But seriously. wake up. it's 2008.
FF22....racial issues were not mentioned. That is so typical of the left...if we do not vote for him then we are racist. Maybe, just maybe, some are not voting for him because his vision of America is not a vision we share.

Oh, it's nice to see unity in the world....the radical left of our country saying prayers every night that match those of radical islamists....
The anointed one, lord SNOBamessiah, is creating unity even before the election results roll in!
VERO POSSUMUS!
how can you even say that racial issues were not mentioned when you're calling someone who repeatedly proved himself to be an American citizen is still being called Kenyan. That is blatant racism no matter how you try to spin it and deny it. Such a typical right wing radical neo-conservative..
by the way, did you all catch the ratings from last night?
Countdown with Keith Olbermann did #6 in all of cable among P18-49 with 1,535,000 viewers.. the next highest rated cable news show was the Obama Spot on MSNBC at #14.. then Rachel Maddow Show at #19.. Anderson Cooper at #24.. another airing of Anderson Cooper at #26.. then Hannity & Colmes at #29
Yeah freedomfightr22, I also saw that in total viewers, the political equivalent to "RONCO HAIR IN A CAN" infomercial (also known as the MSNBC Olbermann/Obama zombie fest) still could not beat poor ol' Billo.
Why is that?
I also have seen some other nice stories telling us all of the quality and value the new and improved "SNOBAMESSIAH, YOUR'S FOR ONLY 5 MONTHLY PAYMENTS of $19.95" truly has.....
"US election: If Iraqis could vote it would be for McCain"

Yep, freedomfightr22...."SNOBAMESSIAH, ALL IN ONE SAVIOR, GURU AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZER....A GREAT VALUE!" seems not to be flying off the shelves in places where freedom and democracy are staring tryanny and death right in the face.
I will gladly go with those with the wisdom to reject a "style over substance" radical and choose an honorable, loyal patriot.........
Please remember to vote, freedomfightr22...and.....
VERO POSSUMUS!
freedomstomper22 apparently doesn't appreciate my sense of humor... Calling Barack Hussein Obama a Kenyan isn't racist... it's a freakin' punch line. Lighten up freesdomstomper22.
PS I stole the joke from Dave Chappelle.
Our poor little freedomfightr22 thinks we're racists and ignorant for what we say. Cry me a river you moron. My arguement to you would be YOUR ignorance of the facts. I guess you must be a racist if you call a black person an African American? What about calling a Samoan a Samoan? You progressives really need to come up for air more often and then, just then you might see some of the light that most others see. your comment of " If you are so scared of black people, maybe you should look into moving into a country that isn't so full of "colored folks". Yeah right. There is not one black person in this country that I am scared of. What does scare me is the fact that Barrack Hussien OsamaObama would lead this country into the worst economic disaster in history. Along with that, he has no experience whatsoever with military, with businesses, and with life in general. THAT ONE has been handed a golden spoon most of his life. Further more, I have some old ways that I live by and one of them is that I don't have any respect for anyone that has USED DRUGS and wants to be President of the United States of America. I guess you progressives think highly of dopers and if that's the case, GOD help you.
His father is from Kenya for crying out loud. He is a first generation American. There is nothing racist about that. I am fed up with people who see racism everywhere, especially where none exists. If someone wanted to make a racist comment there are plenty of direct ways to do it.
Put this in one of the other threads but thought I might drop it in here also. Wouln't want to miss out on the opportunity to be included in the You Are A Racist top ten.
Went to his website. There is a .pfd that shows his tax plan. Very interesting. All it used to say is that the top two rates would be increased. Now it says, in paraphrase, we will "work with the Treasury Department" to make sure the rate increases don't affect married couples under $250,000. Got caught in the lie and fixed it. Problem is he didn't fix it.
FYI Barry. The "Treasury Department" does not make laws. The Congress makes laws. Only the Congress can fix that little item. There is no discretionary power in the Treasury Dept. to take care of that. The Congress will have to make that little change bubby. Perhaps you need a civics lesson. Course by saying it, it gets you off the hook later if somehow that little piece doesn't really happen. This is the stuff he/they do. Nothing racist or otherwise in the comment. Just the way it is with these career hack politicians. Oh. Did I say that? Gosh fix the website right away and then I won't look like a liar.
Kind of feel bad about this stuff. Wish sometimes he were not Black. Then they wouldn't/couldn't play that card. I have always judged him like I would anyone else. My view. A JFK/MLk wannabe. Just another guy with a rocket ship up his ass trying to set the world on fire. Hasn't a clue. When you are up to your ass in alligators (or an L shaped ambush) you are not thinking HOPE. You are thinking it is time to man up and deal with this shit. Hope is for losers.
10th Cavalry: "Just another guy with a rocket ship up his ass trying to set the world on fire."
And to your everlasting chagrin, I think you'd have a hard time arguing that he hasn't done just that.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10th Cavalry on "Barry": "Hasn't a clue."
And if by some chance YOU have a clue, you sure haven't shared it with anyone on this blog yet.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10th Cavalry: "Hope is for losers."
Based on the general tone of most of your postings, it's pretty clear to me that you know quite a bit about the subject of losing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS.....You could probably shorten some of your posts by up to 50% if you just left out the profanity.
Sure would like to meet you Mike.
You have to be a lawyer, a law school dropout or a wanna be politician. You cannot win the discussion so you attack the messenger. Classic. Let me see. Did I say BO need some civics lessons by his own admission? Did I say he changed his web site tax plan to fit his dialogue? Oh. I must have been dreaming. He can do anything.
I have yet to hear of one significant accomplishment that this man has made in life. Just one. Guys like JFK and MLK were raised to serve their country, their fellow man and, in MLK's case his people. Their accomplishments even before they became rock stars were the stuff of legend. They earned their spurs early in life. Any message of Hope or promise was credible because they had already done that for people. I would just like to see or hear of one single thing of substance that this man has done for his country or his countrymen.
Oh darn. I forgot to be profane. Gosh, golly gee. Well I will make up for it next time.
Hey 10th Cavalry, I think I have this guy figured out.
He's an electrician, goes to a methodist church, lives with his mom, is all set up in her basement, eats cheese itz while reading our blogs.
Just joking mikey.
But I do agree, show us one thing Barrack Hussien Obama has done to help this country. In all the people that I have asked that question, not one person could reply.
Strike 3, Game over, Lights out, now go home.
SoCal:"But I do agree, show us one thing Barrack Hussein Obama has done to help this country. In all the people that I have asked that question, not one person could reply."
There is a very good reason that no one "could", or would answer that question to your satisfaction, and it has nothing to do with the very real 'patriotic accomplishments of' Obama. Your's is a loaded question because any and all reasonable answers are subject to rejection and ridicule because of the opinionated whims of the questioner (you).
To put it another way, I could ask the SAME question in reference to the reumes of ANY of the other three candidates, ..... because any and all accepted answers to that question would be based on the ideology and bias of the one doing the questioning. Therefore, If I were to post a list of the things I believe meet the standard, you would take it as an invitation to pick apart every one of them.
Therefore, I will respond by ridiculing the absurdity of such a question, ......... a question so absurd that it dares to presume that our generation's most transformational figure, who also just happens to be on the cusp of winning the presidency, hasn't done anything to "help his country"......and THAT is one absurd premise indeed!
In the end, the answer to such questions always comes down to biased personal opinion.
Just as I thought, you can't give me ONE thing that your buddy Barrack Hussien Obama has done for our country. All that you could deliver was a bunch of mucky muck rhetorical talk. Then you try and slip one in and "To put it another way, I could ask the SAME question in reference to the resumes of ANY of the other three candidates, ..... because any and all accepted answers to that question would be based on the ideology and bias of the one doing the questioning." Are you kidding us? McCains accomplishments are humongous, even Ralph Nader has a better resume than Obama. I'm sorry, but when you state that the absurdity of such a question is asked, you must be from some other planet because the question stands and is one of the most relevant questions there is in regards to voting for the President. I believe you did answer the question though, "MikeH..There is a very good reason that no one "could", or would answer that question to your satisfaction, and it has nothing to do with the very real 'patriotic accomplishments of' Obama.
Yes MikeH, you 're right, Barrack Hussien has never done ANYTHING for this country that is patriotic, little alone ever accomplishing anything either. Loaded Question? Laugh My Ass Off. Quit whinning MikeH.
As usual SoCal, you made a choice to ignor my entire argument and take it as a confirmation of your belief instead. That said, You and I BOTH know that if I choose to give you a laundry list of what I believe Obama has done for this country, you will simply deny the validity of any and all of them.....and THAT was exactly my point.
IF in YOUR extremely brainwashed opinion, Obama hasn't 'done anything for his country', then I submit that NEITHER has John McCain, niether has Sarah Palin, and for that matter, neither has Joe Biden.
Therefore your question remains subjective, regardless of your perception, and is nothing but a prescription for a circular argument (a pissing match).
PS: SoCal, I think you LIKE engaging in circular arguments since you seem unable to offer proof, or even a coherent argument supporting anything you ever assert as a 'fact'.
No, it's as usual for you MikeH, there's that dog chasing its tail again.
There's NO brainwashed opinion here, McCain has been in the Senate for too many years to not have anything to his credit. Sarah Palin has done much as Governor of Alaska, Biden has done some as a long time Senator. You really put your foot in your mouth when you state that you might have a "LAUNDRY LIST". Now that's a good one that I would love to see. Oh, and it's not what YOU believe Obama has done for this country, it's nationally known facts of things that Obama has done for this country. Tick Tock Tick Tock!
Yes MikeH, I enjoy engaging you with FACTS that I get from various news sources, as opposed to the ones you give us from good ole msnbc and Olbermann the Klown.
P.S. don't forget to watch Olbermann get slammed on SNL tonight.
SoCal: You say I'M "chasing my tail", when YOU are the one who makes direct charges that specific people lied in specific situations, yet you cannot or will not back up your lies.
MikeH, I'm not the one who supposedly lied, so I suggest you retract that statement sir. I am only defending someone whom I have not and did not see or hear lie.
- He has imparted to an entire generation of young Americans the knowledge that they can change a corrupt system.
- He has proved to EVERY living generation of minority Americans that they CAN be anything they want to be, regardless of color. THAT in itself is a transformational step in the evolution of this great nation.
- He has served as both a State Senator and a US Senator, representing and helping REAL Americans as their representative.
- He worked with republicans in helping to control loose nuclear weapons around the world.
- Contrary to what you may believe, his decision to work as a community organizer instead of opting for a high salary in a law firm is one of the HIGHEST forms of service to America that I can think of.
- He was the first black president of the Harvard law review and first in his class, further proving to minority Americans that there are NO barriers in America that are so high that they cannot overcome them. This is in itself is an incredibly valuable contribution to America and it's future. With Obama has president, we have a very real chance to move beyond race as a crutch.
- He has provided another valuable gift to America by challenging black Americans to live up to their personal responsibilities, including the responsibilty of fathers to live up to the demands of parenthood. This is yet another valuable contibution he has made that you cannot underate.
- He served his community as a university professor of constitutional law, which is also another fine piece of experience for someone who will be likely be dealing with Constitutional issues as POTUS in two short months.
In my opinion, Barrack Obama brings a level of qualification and contribution that far exceeds any of the other candidates....it's not even close! That said, his potential contributions that are yet to come can heal the wounds of division and project America into the future and leave the past behind.
There SoCal.....that wasn't too hard......you certainly didn't deserve an answer, because you NEVER answer questions or challenges yourself, but it does appear that you need a little education as to what is REALLY important to the future of our great nation.
SoCal, you lied when you called KO a liar 99% of the time, and yet you could not produce even ONE example of a lie in the specific comment in which you referred to.
You become a liar when you accuse someone else of lying and cannot back it up. There's nothing to "retract"!
SoCal: "I am only defending someone who I did not see of hear lie."
Then you must have covered your eyes and ears when the tape was played....or when the undesputed facts to the contary were revealed.
O.K. , O.K. , i'll produce the least bitof info that Keith continuiously lies about. His biggest lie is when he tells all that he beat Bill O in the ratings for a specific night when in FACT he only beat Bill in a small grouping of ages. This age group consists of the youngest ages polled thusly they don't have the knowledge yet needed to understand what a buffoon Keith really is.
As for your answering my question of what has Obama done or accomplished for this country, I applaude you in giving your answers but let it be known that those are only YOUR opinions and not actual merits that the country in whole has profitted from.
