It's the first Hour of Spin of the week! Most everybody will be watching "24", or Merkle's arch-nemesis Bill O'Reilly (poor Olby spent all last week coming in third behind Mr Bill--and Nancy Grace for cryin' out loud!), so we need you to document the outrageous lies and vertiginous spin of Krazy Keith. Watch Oralmann if you dare, and do your recapping right here. Comments are open!
I predict a hair-on-fire rebuttal to President Bush's news conference from this morning. Fat Ass Olbermann will not accept any narative of the Bush years, except his own. Dare not one viewer draw any conclusion, other than Olbys. I expect to hear the words ' war crimes'.
Ratings report for Friday Jan. 9 broadcasts:
Horrible news for Olbermann. Not only did O'Reilly sweep total viewership and the key demos, but Olby only beat Campbell Brown by 73,000 total viewers.

Interesting numbers for the final Hannity & Colmes. It dropped the 25-54 demo to Rachel Maddow. It will be interesting to see how the solo Hannity does, though Hannity is more the ideological mirror of Olbermann than O'Reilly.
Yikes, that last five minutes was basically a KO love fest on questions. Granted there weren't any good questions, they were of course (in KO's words from the past week, "soft-pitched" to him.)
Then at the end you his his boy "Maddow" agreeing with him.
And damn...bathtub boy is FAT.
"Hannity" debuted tonight...in HD! That's always good. I hope "The Factor" is next to make the switch. I couldn't tell if Sean was eminating from Studio J, where Election night coverage was, or 12H, where the "Fox Report" takes place. But my point was in the first block of the show, Sean's guest was Newt Gingrich via satellite. Sean spoke to the Speaker *through a monitor*, just like our guy Olby! Also, there was an over-the-shoulder camera shot for the interview...just like our guy Olby.
"After the first weekend of initial and unfair online speculation about the governor's youngest child, the topic basically vanished from left-wing websites. It has been kept alive by Governor Palin, and the right-wing websites who keep bringing it up." (KO)
So Keith feels that she should just let it go and not harp on it. Fine, but I doubt he would comment likewise if the right wing made disparaging comments involving Joe Biden and his deceased baby daughter, even if they appeared in the blogosphere only briefly. Since this Worser nod is aimed at Bill O'Reilly though, I'll rewrite his quote to make it more ironic:
"After ceaseless and unfair online speculation about Bill O'Reilly's personal life, the topic basically never vanished from left-wing websites. It has been kept alive by Keith Olbermann, and the aforementioned websites who keep bringing it up."
The last five minutes is the finest example of self-felatio I have ever witnessed.
KO shows a softball interview with the friendliest of media types, a New York Times editor, including such lovely admissions as continuing the "Bushed" segment during the Obama term as a way to catalog all the things that Obama screws up that are really Bush's fault.
KO also discusses his recently deceased teacher, who apparently is responsible for filling his head with wacko thoughts and is the root of KO's lack of true critical thinking skills.
He also drops in the outlandish statement that Sarah Palin "validated" him. Whatever that means. He also does an impression of her. "Validation?" More like "The erection that Sarah Palin provided me." Cuz he's obsessed with her, ya know. Validation? Your ratings drop faster with each mention of her, you douche.
And the whopper of them all? KO's self-admitted journalist philosophy: "Write it yourself. And put something of yourself in it" Which is great for real journalists, but rings a bit hollow with ole RipNRead here. Ya know, Keith "Media Matters is my Bible" Olbermann? I guess putting a piece of himself in it is dumbing it down even more than how horribly asinine it was when the site he stole it from originally posted it.
KO spends the first half of his show harping about Bush and torture, as usual.
KO shows clips of George Bush saying he saw a list of potential measures the professionals could use, asked which were legal, and only used ones deemed legally acceptable.
But KO hears this as a confession to use torture, even though Bush never used the word. Because in KO's mind, Bush's legal opinions were provided by Bush's people, and thus must be wrong.
Is KO that naive about politics here? Obama can't do anything on Bush because that's just an invitation to any Republican administration that might follow him to scrutinize his record and then file charges based on re-interpreting certain opinions that Obama's people have but with which his political opponents disagree politically. This would completely politicize the legal system to the point of rendering it useless.
But Olby brings on Prof. Jonathan Turley, no doubt a constitutional-law scholar hand-picked by Olbyloons to follow the script, and together the pair basically equate Bush to Hitler, though they don't actually use the name. They refer to the Nuremberg trials and the like. But honestly. An American president acting to protect innocent Americans from terrorists, and using harsh methods of interrogation against a terror suspect, is in KO's mind morally equivalent to the systematic slaughter of six million Jews?
Oy vey. Give me an f***n break!
Turley's argument is that getting a lawyer to give you a legal opinion is not a defense against committing an act you know to be wrong. What a loaded statement. So basically, a lawyer tells me I can act one way and it would be legal. Except that I should know it is really illegal because I should be able to apply my own legal opinion, even though I'm not a lawyer, which is why we brought in the other guy in the first place.
Are these guys calling these methods torture because they sought out their own legal opinions, or these methods just offend their political sensibilities. There's no evidence for any wrongdoing anywhere. Juan Williams on O'Reilly said as much. I guess that makes Juan Williams eligible for WPITW.
"There's no real question that crimes were committed by his predecessor?"
I wonder what dear old KO will say if terrorists strike during Obama's watch.
Then there's this nugget from Bushed, about a name plate under a Bush portrait in a national museum that states "The attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, led to wars in Afghanistan and Iraq," a statement that is quite true, even if you look at it cynically as Bush using 9/11 to attack Iraq, there is a chain of events of 9/11 leading to the invasion of Iraq. Yet to KO and wackos like Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, the statement implies Iraq had something to do with 9/11. Ah geez, guys, give it a rest. Then KO says Bush supporters are illiterate. Stay classy, KO.
And finally, tonight's WPITW (who aren't Keith Olbermann):
Worse: Brit Hume, interviewing Bush 41 and Bush 43, apparently for not pressing Bush 41 to hammer Obama. When Bush 41 said he was pleased with the Obama transition, Hume said it was like him not to hammer other political people. KO says it is like Bush 41, citing Brit Hume in 2005 talking about Bush 41 criticizing Clinton (the only evidence KO provides).
What is it about KO attacking people who leave the public spotlight? Bush is leaving, and as Jan. 20 nears, KO's attacks gets worse. Palin goes back to Alaska, and KO can't let her go. And now two attacks on Brit Hume in the past week or so, after the man retired from his Fox News anchor position. There's something seriously pathological at play here.
KO is like Tom Cruise in A Few Good Men in the bar scene in which Kevin Bacon rips Cruise a new one about the trial they are opponents in. After Bacon leaves the bar, a bewildered Cruise has no retort, except to shout aloud "You're a lousy f***n softball player, Jack!" To which Bacon's character cannot respond, for he has already gone.
Worser: Bill O'Reilly, for defending Sarah Palin against the media. First KO says Palin backpedaled on her statements about the media having a class bias, basing his statement I guess on the notion that Palin claims she was taken out of context. Which probably means Olby misinterpreted her statements again.
Then, remarkably, after reading Billo's direct quote about Palin "alienating some snobby media types," KO conveniently ignores the fact that Billo said "some," and proceeds to say that Obama and Biden are just as working class as Palin or O'Reilly, and there is no snobbery toward them.
Oh please. Biden has been in the senate since the Nixon administration, and Obama is not exactly a child of the poor house, having come through Harvard. Again KO is cherry picking just enough of an issue to suit his arguments, and ignoring the obvious. For even if Biden and Obama were not products of elite families, their histories over more than the past two decades have shored up their credentials among the Liberal media snobs. Simply being Liberal, for starters. And being from urban areas or upper crust states like Vermont, or Illinois. And not being from Alaska. KO is such an A-hole.
Seriously, Is KO saying that not one single reporter in America didn't look down on Palin as a hick from Alaska? Hell, I work with at least four, and we don't even cover politics!
Then KO has the gall to say everyone in the media is just like him, who was the first in his family in a century to go to college (should be easy enough to prove, eh). So simply because KO does not think he is a snob, and he doesn't like Palin, that is proof that the entire media has been fair to her? What an ego!
Gee, Keith, if everyone in the media is like you, I wonder why Obama and Biden didn't get attacked like Palin. Is this guy seriously that out of touch with reality?
KO also tries to debunk the idea that Palin is attacked on the Internet, saying the thing about her son Trigg being her grandson was unfair, and went away after a week, and is only brought up by Palin.
Wait a minute. So the Daily Kos makes up that vicious rumor, and she debunks it, and later when asked for examples of the Internet attacking her, she cites that, and KO's response is "that was then. This is now" (which is basically Obama's reason for not prosecuting Bush for "war crimes," a stance which KO said was BS. so which is it, Keith?). And what about all the other Internet attacks, such as the lawmaker's son who hacked into her email and posted private messages? Or the continued assault by the Daily Kos and Huffington Post?
Overlooked by KO was this O'Reilly quote from that same Factor Talking Points memo, which O'Reilly delivered last Thursday: "Corrupt mainstream media reporters now use guttersnipes as sources. This is dangerous."
I think he was talking about you, Keith "Daily Kos" Olbermann
KO also ignored Billo saying Palin has to change a lot of things about herself if she wants to again run for national office. Basically showing an even-handed and fair analysis of the governor, something KO has never been willing to provide.
Worst: Joe the Plumber, who went to Israel to cover the Gaza war, and then said the media shouldn't cover war because they do a terrible job at it. Cue pithy and obvious comments from KO about Joe the Plumber, as a new member of the media, calling for his own abolition, which Joe did, and didn't deny it. So basically this boils down to KO bashing Joe for trying his hands at reporting and not liking it and going home.
Why can't you do that, Keith? Go home.
Anyway, here's the WPITW sources that prove Olbermann "wrote it himself"
On Hume: http://mediamatters.org/items/200509200002
On O'Reilly: http://www.newshounds.us/2009/01/12/bill_oreilly_americas_daddy_loves_sarah_palin_americas_mama_grizzly.php
On Joe the Plumber: http://www.newscorpse.com/ncWP/?p=1172
On the Bush portrait: http://www.newscorpse.com/ncWP/?p=1173
I'm sure Mike C can find better ones.
Clarification: The Hume link is a double whammy. The earlier link is to the 2005 retraction mentioned by Olby. Here's what drove the latest rant: http://mediamatters.org/items/200901120009?f=s_search
47000 you are a very welcome voice to this page and for common sense.
Bravo! Bravo!

Palin gives Keith an erection
That's why she's Olby's selection
For infatuation
And masturbation
Since Barry won the election
Olbermann's slight of hand about Obama closing GITMO.....He will issue "an order asking for a solution."
Wow. So, let me get this straight. The new President will order it closed without knowing how it will be accomplished?
Vice President Cheney, an adult unlike Keith and many on the left, had a very good point today.....
"'These are al Qaeda members,' Mr. Cheney said. 'These are people that we captured on the battlefield. These are folks whose main objective in life is to kill Americans.' Cheney said the remaining detainees 'are unlawful combatants, terrorists, and by definition, their objective is to achieve their political goals by killing as many civilians as possible. They don't abide by the laws of war.'
"Mr. Cheney noted that 'there's never yet been a congressman come forward and volunteer to take 250 al Qaeda members in his district ... So then the question is, where are you going to put them? And you've got to sort that all out before you close Guantanamo.'"

So Obama has to keep his campaign promise to the left, quickly. But already his apologists in the press (the church of SNOBamessiah) are excusing PR announcements to replace action.
Will difficult questions be asked of the new adminstration with the difficult "What if's?" It is looking like Keith Olbermann is prepared to
give his guy a lot more slack on the rope than he was ever prepared to give Bush.
VERO POSSUMUS!
Karl Rove has made his prediction ...
Obama will not close Gitmo. He will relegate the decision to committee to appease his supporters politically, but once in office he will see the reports and understand the need for such a facility. And for the methods employed there.
But you saw in Olby's NYTimes puff interview that he is preparing his list of all the things for which he can still blame Bush when his boy Obama can't fix them.
America4700....it will be the "Bush/Cheney put Obama in a box" excuse.
Ridiculous! Leftist pundits, leftists pols and even bloggers over at places like THE DAILY KOS have the EXACT solutions to GITMO.....Obama simply needs to follow their advice like he PROMISED....and accept the consequences.
The same with withdrawl from Iraq.....Obama said he would do it in 16 months during the campaign.
The same with the war in Afghanistan....Obama said he would reverse that challenge by simply moving troops out of Iraq and putting them into Afghanistan.
The same with the tax cuts to people making less than 200K.....and increasing the federal taxes on people making more.....promises, promises, promises......
The same with balancing the budget.....promises, promises, promises......
The same with providing UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE......promises, promises, promises.....
No oath of office yet on Lincoln's Bible, yet those expectations are sure being lowered quickly!
VERO POSSUMUS!
Oh, my, this twisting and dodging will be interesting to watch!
And now Obama is also breaking another promise he made just a couple of months ago.....his much repeated "$3,000-per-job credit will not be part of the stimulus plan.
He used that line in rebuttal to charges of increasing taxes on small business....he claimed he would lower those taxes through the "Making Work Pay" tax credit.
Oh well....what are promises anyway.....small businesses like mine could really benefit from such a plan but I knew it was just another pol ready to break his promise.

Good piece here.
A clear, even-handed reflection on the subject of torture and yet another Obama change......The left's hypocrisy is astounding.

Via the transcript:
After a plug for #1--Keith's echo chamber chat with an NYT guy on Saturday ("Bill-O‘s [Ding!] head rotated 360 degrees, I understand")--we got the Media Matters Minute.
Worse was Brit Hume. (Ellipses provided by me): "The bronze to Brit Hume, conducting what a critic of another broadcaster [O'Reilly, I assume?] once called a flatulent, lap-sitting interview with the Presidents Bush." Oralmann keepin' it classy. "Asked 41 if he was pleased with the Obama transition, 41 said, ... Hume fawningly replied, ... referring from Bush 43, to refrain from comment on other political figures, the incoming president and so on. Except it isn't. Bush 41 ripped other political figures all the time, as was reported by no less of an authority than Brit Hume. On September 19th, 2005, Hume said ... Two nights later, Mr. Hume had to issue a retraction. That was incorrect, he said. ..., an error which Mr. Hume repeated yesterday."
Worser was Another O'Reilly Attack. "The runner up tonight, Bill-O the Clown [Ding!], defending Sarah Palin‘s interview last week, particularly her remarks about Caroline Kennedy and social class, the very ones Governor Palin backed away from and claimed were taken out of context." The Ted Baxter voice was undoubtedly used here. "Two points here, after the first weekend of initial and unfair online speculation about the governor's youngest child, the topic basically vanished from left wing websites." Yeah, sure. "It has been kept alive by Governor Palin and the right wing [Ding!] websites who keep bringing it up.
Also, for Bill-O and the governor and their individual class paranoia [Ding!], it is notable that neither of their upbringings were any more working class than, say, Vice President Elect Biden or President Elect Obama. And there didn't seem to be any class snobbery towards them, by a media who includes guys like me, the first member of my family in about a century to have gotten to go to college." After all that, I feel like rubbing my left eyebrow incredulously as Mr. Bill does. As Frank Caliendo, a man who does a much better Ted Baxter impression than our resident guttersnipe, would analyze in the form of John Madden: "See, here he read the quote, did the attack over here, lied about the blogs back here, and then boom! equated Bill with Obama-Biden." I know, that was lame on my part. Anyway...
Worst was Joe "the Plumber" Wurzelbacher. "In a desperate effort to regain the spotlight, the plumber went to Israel to cover the Gaza war as a reporter for a conservative website [Pajamas.tv], with a microphone and everything. His findings, ..." An impression of some kind was likely done here. "I know this is complicated for you, Sparky, ..." Sparky? Hey, Bathtub Boy, Craig Kilborn called. He wants his material back. "... but, A, the American media has been amazingly responsible about not putting out troop locations in Iraq, in Vietnam, in Korea, except for Geraldo Rivera." Ooh, a Geraldo/Fox attack. "B, remember that sitting in the movie theater cheering your troops in World Wars I and II, that was not limited to the good guys. And this helped misled people like the Germans into thinking they were the good guys. C, I hate to break this to you, right now you are in the media reporting. So you have just called for your own self-abolition. We can agree on that. Joe, the self-hating war correspondent, Wurzelbacher, today‘s worst person in the world!"
Krazy Keith "I'm better than all y'all" Olbermoronn, now and forever, the Worst Person in the Galaxy!
#1: Edward R. Olbermann's Saturday sitdown with some Rosenthal guy not named Ken (Ken Rosenthal, Fox MLB Insider) from the New York Times. According to Herr Olbermahn, the Bush attacks will continue after January 20. Other than that, nothing worth noting...except THIS!:
"ROSENTHAL: Famously said, you get rid of Olbermann and I'll stop attacking you.
OLBERMANN: Or at least shut me down.
ROSENTHAL: Shut me down.
OLBERMANN: I don't know that he necessarily wants to get rid of me.
ROSENTHAL: If you started supporting Bill O'Reilly and saying good things about him.
OLBERMANN: I think the things I have said have been good things. I think the things I have said have been the best possible things."
There you have it. Keith "Man on Fan" Olbermann is proud of his hit jobs on our humble correspondent.
And then, he concluded the show with: "That is COUNTDOWN for this, the 2,074th day since what George Bush today finally got around to declaring was the mistake of declaration of mission accomplished in Iraq. I'm Keith Olbermann, good night and good luck."
Though Keith has never said "I'm better than all y'all," he leaves that impression regularly.
"Though Keith has never said "I'm better than all y'all," he leaves that impression regularly."
Funny, but I've never gotten that impression at all.....However, I DO get that message when watching O'Reilly!
I think the message here is that it's all in the eye of the beholder.
Duly noted.
