KO was in rare form....outspoken as always, even with a cheap attempt at a spit-take which was horrible in its' own right.
Lots of mistakes by KO tonight. One, only talking about the Rep person who called out Limbaugh. However KO failed to realize that said Rep apologized to Limbaugh later on. So you can tell KO doesn't pay attention that or he just reads what those idiot bloggers at KOS tell him to do. Whatever.
Is it me, or has it been lately that KO has been using the phrase, "schooled" and that pathetic movie, "Catch-22" a lot lately. I get the feeling that is all he knows. You'd think he'd know more with Katy around. Oh wait it's time to read her Winnie the Pooh. :)
Yeah. KO can't even spit out a decent spray let alone be interesting. In fact, this week has been the tamest and lamest I've seen from him. Did you know that Obama commenting on the icy conditions of D.C. was "cool"?
Prof. TurDley was back but detected no new ideas from him. Rehash...rehash.
"Still Bushed" seemed exceptional boring tonight.
KO needs a boost or a booster-seat.
The picture for the lead for tonights Recappers Thread is used a lot. I have no problem with that. But after saying this to myself many, many times, I have to say it here. She is a beast as we used to say growing up in the 60's.
I dunno if Olby will want to change after the Jan. 27 ratings:
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/01/28/cable-news-ratings-for-tuesday-january-27-2009/11700
He squeeked by Nancy Grace. But his rerun numbers are so abysmal I wonder if most of his viewers are just tokers with a DVR.
How the hell does Olbermann get away with saying the Republicans are siding with failure, when the Democrats did the exact same thing on the war in Iraq?
And Keith says the economy began to fail under George Bush, but does he forget the economy was sailing fine until the Democrats took over Congress in 2007?
And dear lord, Keith. Why are you talking about Obama's approval rating one week into his term? It's at 70%. Did you expect Americans to hate him after voting him in? Are you forgotting George Bush's approval rating was like 90% after 9/11. It means NOTHING. Dumbass. It's almost the reverse of the Iraq War opposition and you can't see it that?
Why does he continue these silly partisan semantics? Seriously, is he really just putting on an act to snare the toker Kos crowd?
Republicans are making the smartest move on this. So far bail outs haven't been the answer and we still aren't done paying out for the previous bail out package. I would HOPE it's too earley to tell, but job lost since the first bail out have been getting worse.
I really liked Obama's idea of reaching across the isle. But when he and Pelosi are saying " We won the election," they made it clear to the GOP of what they're really doing. They want Republicans to take the blame, but they aren't falling for it.
Olbermann can be happy as hell the Dems rule everything now, but what his ego won't do is look at the reality of it. Dems will pass bills, most by themselves, and they will have a chance to fail. And that chance of failure scares the crap out of them.
But again this isn't the issue with Bathtub Boy, he demands more from HIS president. Oh I'm sorry OUR president ( it's cool to be patriotic now kids ) On top of the middle east, the economy, and god knows what else will come up, the biggest thing on Olby's mind as of late is to "Prosecute Bush".
Yes that will solve all the world's problems. But agian this is Olbermann's ego ignoring reality. And that ego doesn't see the consequences of these actions which are just Bush hate taken to the max.
Again Republicans are doing the right thing, even though they took heat for it today, but these bail outs are just too huge of a gamble in the long term.
Hey Olbermann, just drink the Kool-Aid, remind people who won the election, keep your Still Bush segment, continue to run NSA exclusives, rip on Palin, an before your done, get that resume up to date cause this sctick ain't lasting long.
Wow. Keith starts off WPITW with a totally wrong recap of the Jessica Alba-Bill O'Reilly "feud."
KO says "she now famously called him the hole word, and when Fixed News (ding) chased her for a response the network should 'Go Sweden about it.' By 'Go Sweden About it' she said she meant be neutral." And KO says Billo fired back by saying she was "uninformed and an pinhead."
Seriously. Keith is actually going there?
Oh my, yes.
Then Keith reads from Alba's blog that "It's so sad to me that you think the only neutral country during World War II was Switzerland."
Then Keith brings up Billo's mistake about Malmedy again. "Now proves to know less about the second World War than does the star of the movie Sin City."
Holy crap, this is like the Holy Grail of KO f-ups.
Let's start with the easy one. Alba was not the "star" of Sin City. She wasn't even in it that much. Try saying the star of "Honey" or "Into the Blue." So KO proves he doesn't know much about movies.
Now, let's take a look at what really happened between Alba and O'Reilly.
O'Reilly sent his producer Jesse Watters to interview celebrities who went to Washington DC for the inauguration. O'Reilly showed two clips on his show. One was of Jamie Foxx complimenting O'Reilly and speaking intelligently about George Bush and moving forward. (KO doesn't mention this part of it). To contrast this for fun, O'Reilly shows the Alba clip in which she sounds like the total dunce that she no doubt is, and refuses to give a shout-out to O'Reilly because "he's kind of an A-Hole."
KO doesn't mention that Watters then asked Alba to clarify that statement and say what's so objectionable about O'Reilly, to which she stumbles upon an answer before settling on "if I answer that I'm admitting I watch Fox News." So she doesn't even watch the damn show, but she wants to open her big mouth and insult the guy. Which just goes to show you how far a hot body and no talent gets you in Hollywood. Then she does a little mea culpa about Fox being good to her movie-wise. Cuz who else would cast her in two crappy Fantastic Four movies. I mean really.
So, what did KO say?
"she now famously called him the hole word, and when Fixed News (ding) chased her for a response the network should 'Go Sweden about it.'"
ERRRRRR. Wrong answer, douchebag. So sorry.
The Watters confrontation took place I believe at the red carpet entrance of the Jan. 18 Declare Yourself event.
Later, as Alba and her hubby were waiting for a cab to go home, ANOTHER reporter started to talk to Alba, who turned on her cell-phone camera and began interviewing the reporter about what he liked about Obama. When he tried to claim objectivity wouldn't let him answer, she told him "Be Neutral. Be Sweden about it."
KO would have you believe she was telling Jesse Watters to be Sweden. But no. A simple Internet search shows the "Be Sweden" was directed at Nicholas Ballasy of CNS News, which is NOT Fox News, but it's conservative leaning, so I guess in Olby's mind it's all the same, right?
Then it was TMZ.com that first called Alba a "ditz" about confusing Sweden and Switzerland. And O'Reilly later showed the clip as well, which led to him saying she was misinformed.
So here we have two different clips of Alba, and two different segments on O'Reilly, which Olby would have us believe is just one clip (a day after blasting Bernie Goldberg for supposedly parsing a clip about Tom Brokaw).
And, here's what Keith decided to leave out about the exchange between Alba and Billo. Before Alba responded in Blog form, someone challenged O'Reilly on the Sweden neutrality question. And O'Reilly responded that neutrality is written into Switzerland's constitution, and that Sweden takes it on a case by case basis.
So, Jan. 27, Alba posts her blog with the "it's so sad to me that you think the only neutral country during WWII was Switzerland" comment. Even though in none of the clips of her saying "Be Sweden" is she saying "Be Sweden from World War II."
It's so obvious that Alba, who by all accounts is dumb as rocks, was embarrassed and in an attempt to save face went to the Sweden Wikipedia page, found an instance of their neutrality in the past, and made up this BS about herself referring to WWII. So ... blatantly ... utterly ... OBVIOUS.
http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=305671323&blogID=466746855
But it gets better. In their blind lust to sign on to any slam of O'Reilly, the idiots at Media Matters decide to pick up the story and side with Alba, which is probably how it crossed KO's desk since he obviously doesn't watch the Factor:
http://mediamatters.org/countyfair/200901280009
And they start slamming O'Reilly for not knowing that Sweden was neutral during World War II, EVEN THOUGH ALBA NEVER SAID WWII IN THE CLIP, and clearly doesn't know any better. So Media Matters' sole basis for the slam on O'Reilly is the single-sourced blog of a Hollywood actress, with that single source being the actress herself, relying on Wikipedia, another journalistic no-no.
Which means Keith Olbermann and Media Matters have staked their journalistic reputations on the feeble-minded (yet hot) star of "Good Luck Chuck"!
And where did Media Matters get the story? Holy jeez, Courtney Hazlett's The Scoop column at MSNBC.com! (mistyped as MSNCB in the Media Matters post at the time of this writing).
My god. So her defense is making up a response to an argument that was never made, and then accusing those who called her out of not knowing what she meant by a comment she never said, and these dolts can't see right through that? Or is that style of debate acceptable now? Retro-historical rebuttals? It doesn't matter if what you said doesn't fit the facts right now. If it fit another time's facts, yeah, it's fine. I guess that paves the way for KO and MSNBC to just freeze their ratings at the one time they may have approached O'Reilly in total viewers, right?
It's like if I advertised a car with 10,000 miles, and the guy shows up and it has 75,000 miles. And I actually try to sell him with "It had only 10,000 miles at one time. That's close enough. Most people wouldn't buy that used car, but I guess the idiots at MSNBC and Media Matters would!
KO also doesn't bother mentioning TMZ's classic response:
"She is absolutely correct. Sweden was a neutral country ... 60 years ago. We apologize for not considering the political climate of the world in 1942 when we suggested she may have meant, 'Be Switzerland' -- a country that is currently neutral."
Seriously, KO. Try doing some actual research beyond your usual crappy sources, douche.
Olby's display tonight is just flat out embarrassing, incompetent reporting. Hope it's worth the $4 million, NBC!
I mean damn. It's crap like this that really ticks me off about the injustices in the world. Really, really ticks me off.
Oh, worser was Charles Krauthammer criticizing Obama saying on the Arab network interview that Americans paint muslims with a broad brush. Krauthammer's crime was apparently being a hypocrite for making a broad generalization about Arabs in 2002. Olbermann tried a poor imitation of Krauthammer on this one.
KO's source: http://thinkprogress.org/2009/01/28/krauthammer-brush/
Worst was minority whip Eric Cantor for ripping the stimulus package by saying the Congressional Budget Office doubts it would stimulate anything. Olby says the CBO indicated it would have a noticeable effect.
KO's source: http://thinkprogress.org/2009/01/28/cantors-stimulus-lies/
Just to round things out, here's that MSNBC piece that Media Matters picked up:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28879799/
So KO could have blueblog sourced either Media Matters or his own MSNBC Web site on this one.
Either way. Courtney Hazlett of MSNBC.com. You are a moron.
Also must add that Media Matters distorted Krauthammer's 2002 comments:
"From Nigeria to Sudan to Pakistan to Indonesia to the Philippines, some of the worst, most hate-driven violence in the world today is perpetrated by Muslims and in the name of Islam."
Are these broad brush strokes? Seems like Krauthammer is speaking the truth, right?
But Media Matters says: "Krauthammer’s objections are ironic given the fact he’s guilty of the sort of “broad brush” thinking that Obama was warning against. In December 2002, for example, Krauthammer characterized Islam as violent and “hate-driven”"
But did Krauthammer characterize Islam as violent? No. He said those perpetrating the violence were Muslims acting (wrongly, I presume) in the name of Islam.
KO says Krauthammer offered no proof. Yeah, whatever. 9/11, maybe?
What does Media Matters do? They set Krauthammer up as a straw man, which is what they slam him for doing to Muslims.
Do KO and Media Matters really want to get into the business of defending terrorists?
Oy.
Just for fun, here's Media Matters ripping Courtney Hazlett a new one a week ago, basically calling her ignorant:
http://mediamatters.org/countyfair/200901220008
Good to know all is forgiven once she picks on O'Reilly.
I amend my statement from earlier. Keith Olbermann and Media Matters have staked their journalistic reputations on TWO feeble-minded pinheads.
Anyone know where I can find contact info for anyone at MSNBC? Especially Courtney Hazlett? They really aren't too keen on taking in viewer mail, are they? Not even a comment board. Pathetic.
Sorry but this kind of shoddy BS really pisses me off.
I don't know what's worse. Courtney Hazlett just blindly and stupidly regurgitating Jessica Alba's inane blog like that, or Keith Olbermann running with it without a shred of independent verification in the name of his ideological vendetta.
Typical for MSNBC, I guess.
More from the KO neverending knowledge of film department:
He says Sweden's well-known neutrality must be so evident as it made the popular culture as recently as the film Catch-22.
Does Olby mean the same Catch-22 movie that came out in 1970. Nearly 40 years ago? That recently?
Does he know Jessica Alba was born April 28, 1981, and is not likely a fan of that film. What exactly was his point in bringing it up?
And KO had that clever glee in his smirk as he read all this. It's just sad.
And as for Sweden's so-called neutrality:
http://boards.history.com/topic/World-War-Ii/Pro-Nazi-Sweden/520007561
Nazi Puppets.
Nice Try Jessica. Nice Try Keith.
Game over
Courtney Hazlett was Ivy League schooled
Like Olby she should be re-tooled
"Uppity" when she speaks
Hamster-like cheeks
Was someone at NBC fooled?
America your analysis of Olby's Swedish meatball was too good to leave in the comments thread. I made it into a post and gave you credit as the guest blogger. I want everyone to see just how journalistically bankrupt the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann truly is.
I want to nominate America47000 for a Congressional Medal of Honor. This dude is putting his own health on the line by watching entire episodes of Countdown in order to provide thorough recaps for Olbermann Watch readers. If I watched an episode of the Obama Propaganda Hour, my blood preasure would rise so high that I'd have a stroke my 8:30. So thank you America....we owe you a medal for your sacrifice.
Actually I rarely watch the whole show. I sometimes scroll to the Countdown site and just watch WPITW and any clips with an exceptionally inflamatory headline. As you can see just a few minutes of Olby reports can generate pages of rebuttal, so clearly I don't have time to take on the whole show. But that Alba recap was so blatantly wrong to anyone with half a brain it couldn't go unsaid. Just watching The Factor regularly would tip you off about how wrong Keith was, and about 10 minutes of Internet digging revealed the entire story.
But we all know KO doesn't bother watching The Factor or doing actual research.

Like I've said before, if anyone has even a touch of American pride and a bit of sanity to them, to watch this phony anti-American retard's full show they should be honored for their service to their country. I'm serious, because as I said before, I have watched 2 of his shows to be open-minded, and both shows seriously had me feeling ill afterwards.
No joke, and to think that 47000 watches even glimpses of it daily, and he obviously doesn't just have a "touch of American pride" but a full boat of it along with his very smart and lucid posts, I feel he does deserve some kind of an award.
Jesus, I think we all owe him so much for him reminding us daily to what a douche (perfect word for this idiot, and I laugh every time he says it) this a-hole is, and to how much he reminds us to how good America is and to how bad some of its people are.
Here! Here! 47000...the Alba piece was brilliant...and I thought I was the only one who got so pissed off at this anti-American buffoon. I feel your pain, but believe me you make it easier I'm sure on a lot of us knowing we're not alone.
Keep it up!
