I caught WPITW tonight and he said about Glenn Beck, "after he lost his show on CNN, he appropriately move to Fox Noise."
That makes it sound like he was fired for having an unpopular show, but from what I recall he had good numbers. The reason his show was yanked from CNN was because they found out he was moving to FNC.
I really don't get Olbermann's compelling need to continue to destroy Sarah Palin. She and McCain lost the election *two months ago* now. Olby's candidate is the president-elect. Both houses of Congress are Democratic-controlled. And yet he's still experiencing nightly flare-ups of Palin Derangement Syndrome.
If he's so confident that she's a bumbling idiot, then have her on the show and let the owning begin. He's apparently not secure enough to risk it. Instead, he'd rather pick on her unchallenged, making everything he says in his little bubble right by default. Even worse, whenever Palin has the gall to suggest that the media have treated her unfairly, he sidesteps responsibility for his own role in that, instead faulting Palin herself for her own negative coverage.
It's funny, if Keith Olbermann attempted to slant coverage a certain way over at NBC Football, he'd be outta there. Yet when it comes to people's reputations, he can defame all he wants over at MSNBC.
But really it makes sense for Glenn, why be on #2 when you can be on #1. And yeah someone should tell KO not every one who station hops does it because they were fired, unlike KO himself.
Worse: Two unnamed high-school students in Rhode Island who stole a car because they didn't want to be late for school. The keys were found in one of their pockets in detention, which they got for being late anyway. This is a bit light for WPITW. Aren't these tales of dumb criminals usually reserved for Best Persons?
Worser: Alberto Gonzalez for "not realizing he's the disgraced former attorney general. KO says AG is having trouble finding a private sector job, and AG blames the recession, saying eventually law firm opportunities will open up. KO's real beef here is AG jokes about becoming baseball commissioner. KO says that as a lifelong baseball fan, historian, reporter and customer, he'd rather see the game vanish from the face of the Earth.
Well, I'm also a lifelong baseball fan, and I'd like to see KO vanish from the face of the Earth.
Worst: Glenn Beck. KO thinks the ads for his new Fox News show are trying to hide his conservative bias. Beck in the ads says he's tired of the politics of left and right, and in one tells people who think Democrats are communists are wrong. KO calls Beck a hypocrite for these ads because KO says Beck has called several Democrats communists in the past, including Obama. KO says Beck "is not on a collision course with sanity." (Really rich that Olby is the one criticizing others for bias).
KO, taking some preemptive shots at Glenn Beck, soon to also be beating KO in the ratings.
This was followed by another KO Palin segment, featuring a quote from Billo defending Palin. Then more Olby making fun of her, saying she doesn't know what context means, yada yada, KO defending David Shuster after John Ziegler says he's a joke (but Ziegler isn't worse than those two high-school kids, apparently). Then KO says it's funny the screen says HowObamaGotElected.com, with a video of her, since she's the reason Obama got elected according to KO, now.
As Shuster basically admits in the clip posted here, MSNBC and KO will continue to attack her until she admits she was never qualified to be VP. How utterly pathetic.
KO is the boy who cried Wolfe. He always takes things out of context (then slams those who accuse him of such for not understanding the term), but even if he may be right here, and I'm not saying he is or isn't, no one cares, cuz who can believe anything he says anymore. The natural inclination is just to assume he's distorting whatever he's talking about, and then jump onto the Internet to find the truth.
Here's the thing about Palin's quotes. People like KO aren't necessarily taking her stuff out of context. They're just completely misinterpreting them. "Take out of context" has just become the buzzword for any media distortion.
I too saw the Shuster interview and thought Ziegler clearly owned him. Shuster wouldn't even give him a chance to talk, he kept interupting him over and over, trying to bait him into admitting something that just wasn't there. Then of course you had KO tonight trying to spin it "his" way, but it just didn't work.
I will admit, that KO is obsessed with Sarah Palin, simply cause he has no one to go after once Bush leaves next week, unfortunately it will only get worse. Hopefully, NBC brass will finally see the light and realize that KO, Shuster and his boy "Maddow" quite simply have ruined what once was a pilar in the broadcasting community.
Hannity has said "journalism is dead." Well I think it died at NBC when poor Russert passed away.
Keith's obsession with Sarah Palin
Confirms that Kountdown is failin'
Keith's grasping at straws
That's pathetic because
It's Robert Tur's daughter he's nailin'
America47000: "How exactly does that make Hannity wrong?"
Who said it made anybody "wrong"? And where did you get the idea that it has anything to do with who I "like"?.....Simple analogies really do fly right right over your head, don't they?
The point of that comment is that someone like Sean Hannity complaining about the decline of journalism is like the pot calling the kettle black.
Get it yet?
Now why did you two need to have such a simple concept explained to you?
I just wanted to see if you were dumb enough to think that I didn't understand what you were trying to say, thus proving you have absolutely no sense of reality, or at the very least are too caught up in your own.
It means you don't like Hannity because only someone who didn't like Hannity would equate his statement with the pot calling the kettle black. And only someone who thinks Hannity is wrong would make that statement. Since you are the only one on this board who seems to hold that opinion, near as I can tell, you are just wasting your time.
And even if Hannity is calling the kettle black, that doesn't mean he's wrong about journalism. You are trying to be pithy but you are contributing nothing to the greater discussion. If you don't think journalism is dead, then argue the point. Attacking the messenger just makes you look bad.
Get it yet? Why did you two need to have such a simple concept explained to *you*?
Now, by all means, please continue to express your right of free speech by posting inane comments and spouting platitudes with no actual facts to support you. Whether or not you want to waste your time doing so is entirely your choice.
Hey America47000, Lafinman, your above posts were right-on.
I'm going to add my 2 cents here.
From Lafinman :Good to see you coming in here from time to time to argue about nothing and make the comment section your own personal ego trip.
The way I see it, everyone knows about KO's ego, now MINNY ME(mikeH, KO's little follower) is chiming in trying to defend KO and his attack machine of the same people every night. Ko's infatuation with Sarah Palin attacks, Bill O attacks, Bush attacks, Rush attacks, and so on. Yes mikeH, journalism is dead, at least over at cbs, nbc, msnbc, cnn, abc. KO's ratings are dropping so fast, the guy has nothing to say anymore. It's the same ol keith krap. KO hides behind maddow's pants (she don't wear dresses). KO is not man enough to take on opposition on a one on one manner thus making him look like the pussy that he is.
Yes mikeH, KO IS becoming the Hannibal Lector of journalism. I can hear him now saying...... come a little closer Clorese, I want to tell you something.
Oh Boy! MikeH, after the three clear, concise, honest and perfect responses from 47000, Lafinman and SoCal I think you should stick to talking about the Blue Devils. At least with North Carolina and Dean Smith it is a subject you know something about.
I was going to get into the discussion by simply stating that Hannity wasn't wrong because he is a journalist. Hey, just count your blessings that Cee didn't enter the fray, because after what they did to you, you not only would have been fed to the fish but in pieces if he had.
Give him some time, I'm sure he'll have some witty analogy's for us, with other tid-bits of sarcasm and superiority. lol
Personally I've become a fan of him. He doesn't defend Olby, he just says stuff to attack us, which is all fun and games to me.
While were talking about fun, I enjoyed SNL this week with NPH ( yes I'm a NPH fan ) But it was truely an awesome show as now Mr. Maddow has been immortalized by a skit.
I'm guessing David Gregory's Hair is going to go through a Honeymoon phase till they start doing parady's of Meet the Press agian.
Yeah, I kind of like him too, but there's just so much of the mismatch I can take. It's like watching seals approaching fur traders with big smiles on their faces. Then when they get clubbed, they still don't understand it and come back for more.
I guess I'm one of those people who slows down to see how bad the accident up ahead is, but I'd like to think I'm doing it to see if I could help the injured. Unfortunately, in MikeH's case he refuses any help every time.
And make no mistake about it, he defends olbermann almost every chance he can get, except that he pick and chooses his attacks or else he'd never be off this site.
A lost cause if I ever saw one: I try to help him to see the light, and he keeps on defending the one guy that keeps him in the dark.
I caught WPITW tonight and he said about Glenn Beck, "after he lost his show on CNN, he appropriately move to Fox Noise."

tsk tsk Jimmy Legs.
sorry for the typo I was listening to the above clip

Really Glenn Beck? This is OLD news.
But really it makes sense for Glenn, why be on #2 when you can be on #1. And yeah someone should tell KO not every one who station hops does it because they were fired, unlike KO himself.
The cable news ratings for Jan. 8 shows:

Another low finish by KO.
WPITW:

Anyway, here's the KO rip-n-read sources:
For Gonzales: http://thinkprogress.org/2009/01/08/gonzales-rough-economy/
For Beck: http://mediamatters.org/discuss/200901080016
Typical sources for KO, so no surprise there.

Did Keith trot out his Godawful Ted Baxter voice for the O'Reilly quote?
Oh, yes. Yes he did.
I figured.
"Hannity has siad "Journalism is dead."
Thats kind of like Hannibal Lector saying vegetarianism is dead.
How exactly does that make Hannity wrong? Or Hannibal Lector, for that matter? It just means you don't like Hannity, which we already knew.
lol that made no sense wat-so-evar lol
America47000: "How exactly does that make Hannity wrong?"

Well then why didn't you use "The Pot Calling the Kettle Black?"
I saw what you were going for Mike Hunt, but you had epic fail on the execution.
Good to see you coming in here from time to time to agrue about nothing and make the comment section your own personal ego trip.
