I think we may have the makings of another rip 'n' read moment. If Oralmann thinks her working for Cantel Medical makes her a shill for Big Pharma (as the Think Propaganda website claims), maybe he should've checked the company first. They don't make pharmaceuticals. They make medical equipment for dialysis, etc.

It looks like Betsy did/does get stock from Cantel Med (if the SEC info from the link is correct), but they are not bigpharma- they deal in medical devices. There is a difference b/w pharmaceuticals and medical devices per the FDA, but I think this looks like a case of both Betsy and KO spinning the facts in their favor- neither is really wrong of right. That's my 2 cents on the issue.

There are many things wrong with Herr Olbermahn's parroting of Betsy's relationship with Cantel. As others have pointed out, they aren't "big pharma"...they neither peddle pharmaceuticals nor are they "big", with revenues of approximately $250 million (a nice sum no doubt, but a mere pittance in the world of "big pharma".)

Keith mentioned that a 2008 filing mentioned something about her earning 50K or so from the company, I didn't find anything about that.

HOWEVER, you've got to laugh at the financial ignorance of those who "broke" the story in blue blog land and Keithee for parroting it. They claim she received approximately $11,000 "worth" of stock options. Well...she received 750 options with an EXERCISE PRICE of $14.99. Yes, if you do the simple math, multiplying those two values together will get you $11,242.50. However, as most people know, that exercise (or strike) price means she has the option to BUY the stock at that price, and she will only make money if the stock is worth more than that at the time (and enough more than that price to cover any brokerage or transaction related fees). For those options to be truly "worth" more than $11,000, the Cantel stock would need to be worth at least $30 per share. Oh, today it is trading at $13.39 per share, and over the past 10 years has traded at $30 during only one period...right before it fell off a cliff. My guess is that speculators at the time were anticipating some kind of major event/announcement that didn't materialize as expected. Since 2001, it has really traded as about a $15 stock.

keith said somebody asked him for ways to improve the simpsons once a while back and his response was they should maybe change the opening sequence. well, the simpsons is going HD now and they have updated the opening...naturally KO spoke, people listened, change happened.

if KO wouldve had the stones to put her on (thinking he had this great "gotcha up his sleeve" re: stocks) Betsy wouldve pointed out what we have and KO would not come out well. Chances like this, and last weeks screwups will keep Countdown just Keith and the regular newsweekers until he gets his oats back

Every so often, Keith performs an act that screams" I'm not quite like the other guys!". Recently, Keith displayed this big time while attacking Bill O'Reilly for making the hideous mistake of referring to a fictional character as the "Wicked Witch of the East" rather than the" Wicked Witch of the West". Keith became giddy, used a Scooby Do impression uttering "roh roh!", as if the teacher would be back in the classroom at any moment, and by golly, Keith was gonna do some tattling!

As I said in my WPitW recap in last Thursday's thread, Laura Ingraham was the first to bring up the usage of "East" instead of "West" that night on "The Factor"...40 minutes before Keith "Ruh-roh" Olbermann.
