The trends don't look too good for Olby:
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/02/13/oreilly-vs-olbermann-through-thursday-february-12/12831
Check out the ratings curve. Around Jan. 20, Olby's ratings plateaued (that mean's leveled off for our less-educated friends), while O'Reilly has picked up an average of 500,000 viewers.
And, Olby got killed again in the Feb. 12 ratings:
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/02/13/cable-news-ratings-for-thursday-february-12/12829
Keep up the good work, Keith. You too, Rachel Maddow. With a little hard work, maybe your rerun numbers will once again be good enough to best Showbiz Tonight on Headline News!
While Keith spews the same tired crap
Bill O'Reilly widens the gap
Keith's career implosion
And ratings erosion
Kountdown really needs a dirt nap
First half hour synopsis: KO's thing again about the stim and how again, the republicans stood up again and tried to thrwart it. Then his slightly "over the top" comment on the lady who was tragically killed last night on the flight heading to Buffalo. It was very sad, but I felt that once again, KO went for the "dramatics". After bringing out his cronies, Wolfe, etc. He does his best persons, gloating on the photo of him and Sully the pilot. Of course you could see how FAT he's getting. Then he ripped Doocy from FOX NEWS for not checking things before going on the air with them. Well here is a phrase KO needs to know...."POT MEET KETTLE" over bloated oaf!
Well, there's nothing like naming yourself as a "Best Person". For #3 , Keithee shows a photo of him with the pilot that landed safely in the Hudson, but he never says which of the two is the "Best Person"
What an EGO!!!!! But then again most assholes have large egos.
Bushed! Is getting just awful, it's a scandal for a former president to collect a speaking fee now? WTF?
Keiths poll numbers are an outright lie, please check out gallop.
On Thursday, feb 12, ObserverDan quotes someone named Giedeon539: "Of course OlbermannWatch is a hate site."Later, ramjet says: I STRONGLY disagree with the entirety of that statement."
SO, WHICH IS IT?
DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AS BLOGGERS ON A HATE SITE?
DO YOU SEE YOURSELVES/THIS SITE AS SOMETHING MORE?
MISSION STATEMENT
The current mission statement of this site seems to be- by default- "Olbermann Watch, 'Persecuting' Keith since 2004." Is there something less tongue-in-cheek? A one sentence mission statement, synopsis, tagline?
IF NONE EXISTS
Why not create one? Do you want someone else (the opposition) to define your efforts/this site? Right now, if I had to explain OlbermannWatch concisely, I would have to say "They hate Keith Olbermann."
THAT WOULD BE SO WRONG!
You may consider that to be an inaccurate and unfair portrayal. So would I. But even if I read four years of Archives, I still wouldn't know how to describe this site. I could say the core group are (for the most part) dedicated, informed, passionate. Sure.
But only you can correctly define WHO YOU ARE.
Well whatever you do, don't read the site FAQ. That would be too easy.
ok now where did I fall asleep on this, but KO keep says that 62% polled by USA Today/Gallup Poll saying the public wants an investigation on the Bush war crimes. Uh...when viewing the poll, it only says 38% were in favor and 34% said NEITHER and only 24% said just conduct an independent panel.
Maybe I'm overlooking it and everything....there isn't an over-whelming majority on each of them saying lets go after Bush.
Were there any Fox attacks tonight that I need to know about?
I'm probably gonna miss tonights show BSG is on tonight and MSNBC goes straigt to Lock Down on Friday nights. Plus I was finsihing a comic book cover during the prime time hour.
But yeah, since Olby got caught he's now the judge and jury when people don't check their facts. With Doocy and that Health Czar schtick last night he's 2 for 2. One more redemption and he's in the clear in Olbyworld.
But you serious Irush? I thought that's how Bill Clinton made all his post presidental money by being paid to speak. Oh wait I forgot. It's Bush so it's a scandle.
I completely believe that no matter what Bush does, it's a scandle in KO's mind.
"Today in Bushed, he didn't tip his waiter over 10%"
"Today in Bushed, they're actually putting books in his presidental library"
"And yet another Bushed, he was our worst president ever."
This on the blah blah blah day he declared the end of the war in Iraq.
he called it the making a rediculous amount of money gate. It's the most absurd thing he's ever said, period.
The most annoying thing he says though is "the stim". who the hell calls it that? it doesn't sound "cool". why can't he just say the stimulus bill like every other person?
#5A: Talkin' Stimulus with the Wolffe Man...
#5B: ...and Geno, Gene Gene the Dancing Machine (appropriate for a Friday) Robinson.
#4: Tribute to one of the victims of the crash of Flight 3407.
In BPitW, a Steve Doocy attack. Blue blog source: Media Matters, what a surprise. http://mediamatters.org/items/200902120023
Speaking of Steve, he sounded under the weather this week on "Fox & Friends." I hope he gets better over the weekend.
#3: Another blue dress interview, this time with the esteemed former President Jimmy Carter. Time to update The List.
Still Bushed: pro-prosecutorial poll pimping.
#2: It was an O'Reilly-less night in WPitW, as well as Goldberg-less. But some Virginia State Representative (a Republican, natch) was Worst and likely ridiculed. Blue blog source: the radical left Jason Linkins of HuffPo.

And a belated posthumous Happy Birthday to President Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin.
Worser was Glenn Beck and I couldn't make out Worse from the preview image on the Countdown website. For Beck, the source was either this...

...or this:

A little help?
#1: On the heels of the Worst nomination, discredited comedian Paul F. Tompkins joined Hipster Keith in making fun of Republicans that use Twitter. That reminds me, you can follow OlbyWatch on Twitter. Just go to http://twitter.com/OlbermannWatch
Speaking of uJean Robinson, is it just me or does anyone wish he'd get rid of that pitiful excuse of a mustache?
I think the Beck deal was something about Hitler and Nazis
I couldn't find anything on Google other than this: http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Glenn_Beck_warns_that_Al_Gore_0207.html
Olbermann talks about 1984 all the time, I think I just heard it in that clip. What would Olbermann's reaction have been if Bush moved the census into the control of the white house? How can anyone listen to this propaganda and not vomit. Disgusting.
beck attack was ripped from crooks and liars, something about henry ford & Nazi Germany.
SO, WHICH IS IT?
DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AS BLOGGERS ON A HATE SITE?
DO YOU SEE YOURSELVES/THIS SITE AS SOMETHING MORE?...SA
I'd like to think that most of the people who joined this site came on at first (like I did) not because I hated olbermann, but because I was checking my senses to see if I was going insane after seeing one of his shows and NOT hearing any kind of outrage from the media the following day.
I actually believed that I was witnessing the worst kind of propaganda not heard since the days of Mata Hari or Tokyo Rose, and sincerely expected to read something about how he had gone insane and was institutionalized.
I remember the next time I decided to turn him on I expected to hear an apology either from him or the new host (assuming of course that he was fired) and when I saw him spitting even more vile lies I went searching to see if America had finally gone insane or was it just me.
Luckily because of this site I found that it surely wasn't me, but that America had lost some of its marbles along with its balls, yet at least it was a comfort to know that he was being monitered.
It still amazes me that he hasn't been brought to trial with all his libel ways or at the very least been committed, and to say that I hate him is an understatement, but I have never thought this site a "hate site" because that would be akin to saying that anyone who arrested the nazi war criminals were hateful people.
More like concerned citizens keeping a close eye out for one of the most dangerous lying anti-Americans we've seen in a long time. And, he's only dangerous because of how stupid and sensational America has become in the past 30 to 40 years. Any other time in our history he would have maybe lasted a day, and if more been put away.
His day will come, and it's a given, but unfortunately because we are on the upside of the dummest generation America has ever sired it has taken much longer than it should have.
He's even worse than any "reality" show, because all they do is make fools out of nondiscript people who participate on their own free will, while he does all he can to attack and discredit innocent people who (for the most part) have done all they could do to better serve America.
"Hate site?" Only if you believe that hating someone who would do all they could do to bring America down is a hateful thing, but if you believe that then you'd probably have a hard time if we opened up a new site and labled it "Osama Bin Laden Watch."
Here's the link to the source you cited, Irush: http://tinyurl.com/dx699f
So, we know Worser and Worst, but who was Worse?
Worse was US Rep. Culberson(????) R-Texas for saying Pelosi demanded the rush to vote so she could start her 8 day vacation to Rome.
Yeah, John Culberson. I couldn't find a blue blog source, though.
By the way, I just heard that Gibson clip at the top of the post for the second time. Olby's voice is just so irritating, among other irritating qualities and points of view.
thinkprogress is the source on that one and might have also provides the material for the twitter segment.
olbermann is very irritating, the "mmmm, uhhhh, mmmm" moaning he does during interviews is what drives me crazy. the "and to that point..." (insert any illogical comparison as a transition)
msnbc seems content with attracting 400/1.3mil viewers per night so I don't see olbs going anywhere. it is no doubt an improvement on the 200/700 numbers he used to pull in but whether or not that justifies 7mil per year is questionable. imo, when the 7 mil was signed msnbc had the an expectation greater than 2nd place. Given the clear eveidence that keith has peaked at 1.4 I'd imagine another extension won't be forthcoming anytime soon.
OlbermannWatch.com a hate site? That question has been asked following a comment thread sampling I posted here. I personally feel the term "hate site" was used by Gideon539 in reference to Olby's hour of hate, and OW's monitering of it. In fairness to Gideon539, and to put it in better context, I am including more of his discussion from that thread. Also, Gideon539, if you are monitering this site, feel free to opine on the subject!
.....re: http://www.olbermannwatch.com
I just checked it out. It IS a hate site. I needed to wash my hands after
clicking away from it. Germs, you know.

Morganella Fairchildia:
Of course it is a hate site. There is nothing redeemable about Oralmann.
He deserves to be hated for what he has done to liberals in general, and journalism
in particular.
So if you have to wash up after looking at OlbermannWatch, do you need
to delouse after watching Oralmann's nightly program? Perhaps you prepare
for his program by putting on a bio-hazard suit like the movie 'Outbreak'? That way
the constant BS he spews doesn't get all over you.
The folks at OlbermannWatch have a little fun with their work...so what?
It is a thankless task to monitor such sleeze on a nightly basis, you should
cut them some slack and look into the archives to see how they constantly
call him out for plagiarizing the blue blogs, inventing history to fit his agenda, and
generally nail him for being the biggest fraud on TV today. They link to
every story, research every falsehood, and generally do a better job at
journalism than the Keith the baseball card collecter pretending to be a
newsman who makes $7mil a year.
Posted by: Gideon539 | February 12, 2009 3:57 PM
Thanks, Dan. It's a thankless task, but I wish it paid.
lets face Keith Olbermann is nothing more then a 2 bit washed up former sportcaster that got lucky that he has A freind in high places. No other New division President would put with such crap. I alway have woundered if Keith has dirt on his boss.
the show is so boring, same guests, same topics, same attacks, over and over..its like watching ground hog day. And jsut the double standard he has, he calls out foxnews for what he sees as them being to much in favor of Bush and conservatives, but fails to see that he even more so bends over backawards, foward, sideways to support Obama and the libs. Im just glad people are jumping from his ship to Foxnews..and I hope Keith is off the air but new year. I figure he will be down to under 1,000,000 viewers soon...and the more his rating go down the more insane he will get. Im sure he will start to lash out at everyone, watch out Campbell Brown the Olbermoster will have you in his crossfire, and I think Ms.Brown use to work for NBC.
She did. If he goes after her, he'll probably play the "got fired" card.
All I have to say is I hope it Madcow Maddow that ends up sticking the knife in Olbermonsters back. I guess she is his Frankenstien as he is Dr.Franstien to her. He created the Madcow Monster, no live with it!
Uh oh
throw this one in the "who'd Keith piss off now category":
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/msnbc/fmr_ny_lt_gov_to_olbermann_do_you_have_the_backbone_and_the_facts_to_debate_me_108717.asp
"Former New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey is challenging Keith Olbermann to a debate after he called her a shill for Big Pharma:
If Keith Olbermann of MSNBC could defend the health provisions slipped into the stimulus bill on their merits, he wouldn't be resorting to personal attacks on me. Olbermann calls me a shill funded by the drug industry (2-12-2009). That's not true.
...
Mr. Olbermann, do you have the backbone (and the facts) to debate me?"
So, *that's* who Betsy McCaughey is. I feel so dumb for not knowing, especially since she was Lt. Gov. of my home state.
Nothing personal to Besty, i don't trust Lt. Gov's. no matter what party they're from.

Memory loss is a temporary condition resulting from prolonged exposure to Olbermann's inane twisted-logic babbling.
Funny how the USS Olbermann sinks faster in the ratings than Cop Rock while Glenn Beck is getting 1.5 X what Olbermann draws, and Beck is on in the afternoon! Countdown to Suicide Watch?
Thanks Mike for your updates,
Slobbermann does not have the Balls to go up against ANY opposition. Keef O. could never handle an opposing view even if the person on the other side was at a remote location. But just what if said was to happen, I suggest that the opposing party request that the debate be held face to face in studio, no teleprompters, no earpiece to listen to others that think for old Olby, just one on one.
I say Keef O. can't and won't do it because he knows that he will get smacked down, especially by a woman thus killing what credibility the guy has left. As seen on tv, his ratings have tanked to an all time low, hell the cartoon network is beating him. Slobbermann, you are a joke, you are a pussy whip, I dare you to come out of your bathtub and debate this woman, if you don't, we'll know where you stand once and for all.
But I will add Betsy has a right to be pissed, not because KO smeared her, but WHY he did it.
KO doesn't give a crap about Betsy's backdoor dealings and secret connections. He used her as a blunt instrument to smear Fox News, Cnn, Drudge, and Rush. And coming off 3 mess ups of his own last week he needed something to show his loyal viewers that he's not the one with bad journalistic skills, but whoever had Betsy on or reported her story is.
It's bad enough KO didn't make any new friends after the "apology" he made for the Rupert quote by smearing the source of the transcript and the Wakefield/Deer saga. But now in his latest action of redemption another person has to suffer for KO's own shortcomings.
No wonder this guy gets fired all the time. This is a guy who can't take responsiblity for his own actions, and tries to pass the blame to anyone with in shooting range.
This is proof that KO just ran out of co-workers to pass the blame on, and is starting to spread it to his enemies. If KO runs a story without fat ( sorry ) fact checking, he's going to find a case where someone else did the same thing. Perferably Fox News or Rush.
But in the case of the Health Czar, it was pretty weak. And watching that segment it wasn't as much about Betsy or those who showcased her, but what KO did that whole week. Rip'n and Reading and reporting what he wanted.
End result, KO thinks he redeemed himself. Real world result, KO made yet another enemy and showed how far from professional he really is.
A belated you're welcome, liontooth. And at least "Cop Rock" didn't attack their competition. Right?
ObserverDan!
Thank you for your additionals on the "hate site" comments.
"The folks at OlbermannWatch have a little fun with their work...so what?" (Morganella Fairchildia). HUMOR (from the top down) seems to be an integral part of the OW site.
Wolverine!
Thank you for your insights on how you came to be part of OW. "...keeping a close eye out for one of the most dangerous lying anti-Americans..." EXPOSING LIES seems to be another major module of a mission statement.
Johnny Dollar!
Read the FAQ, clearly a HUMOROUS piece by Mr. Cox, but not a mission statement. There was one SERIOUS link by Mr. Cox I couldn't read, due to "link not found." Does it exist elsewhere? It is: "What really got me going on Keith was expressed in my post MSNBC Defines Deviancy Down as Keith Olbermann's Internet-feuled Jihad on Journalistic Ethics Continues"
QUESTION: WOULD YOU AGREE / (OR NOT) THAT..Keith Olbermann is the "lightening rod of the Left."
Definitions of LIGHTENING ROD from the Web: "Someone who is a frequent target of negative reactions and serves to distract attention from another.)" I can't think of ANYONE ELSE on the left who draws such wrath.
Roland Burris holds a press conference on Sunday about potential perjury over his Senate seat, and gets hammered by the press. Fox News and CNN broke live into the press conference. MSNBC didn't bother
S.A.: I'll have to fix that broken link. Here is the correct one:
http://www.olbermannwatch.com/archives/2004/11/msnbc_defines_d.php
A47K: Man that presser was ugg-leee. How will Oralmann spin this tomorrow?
Outside of "Fox News Watch" and "Huckabee," which is being unfairly hammered by Jeffrey Jena at Andrew Breitbart's Big Hollywood, I've avoided the news this weekend. I've been all over sports, though. :)
Also, Seth Meyers on Saturday Night Live yesterday made a joke about Helen Thomas being called on by her 10th president. The joke: she asks the same question of each one, "When you will end slavery?"
I wonder if O'Reilly will note that in his quest to dismiss charges of ageism and sexism in his own jokes about Helen Thomas, who really needs to retire.
I expect he'll show the joke in Reality Check.
Just to illustrate the state of partisan politics nowadays, here's two views on media coverage of Judd Gregg withdrawing from consideration as commerce secretary:
First, conservative watchdog group Media Research blasts media reports of the withdrawal as barely mentioning the issue of politicizing the census:
http://www.mediaresearch.org/cyberalerts/2009/cyb20090213.asp#1
On the other hand, the liberal Media Matters says the media was overplaying the census angle, ignoring Gregg's purported statement that it wasn't a big deal.
http://mediamatters.org/items/200902150004?f=h_top
Of course, the Media Matters piece constantly refers to a Jan. 12 withdrawal and press conference, but I think they mean Feb. 12.
Seems to me Media Matters is splitting hairs a bit. They acknowledge Gregg said it was "a slight catalyzing issue," which means Gregg said publicly it was an issue. Then they blast Jessica Yellin at CNN for saying it was one of two "big issues."
Were I to guess I'd say it's probably a bigger issue to Gregg behind-the-scenes than he's willing to admit. Like the coach who retires "for family reasons." He doesn't want to elaborate on it to save face or something political.
But here again we have Media Matters not reporting on what isn't being said, but what is that they don't like and what they don't think will sit well with Obama-ites. There's a very insidious tone about their style that makes me think they'd prefer censorship that relates to points of view, rather than the wide-open approach that free speech is supposed to embody ... the existence of a variety of opinions should filter out political bias so the layman can decide.
johhy dollar-
Thanks for fixing the link!
