Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

    February 19, 2009
Levin Skewers Olbermann, #26 (Thursday Recappers Thread)

Enjoy the latest from The Great One (Dr Mark Levin) as you prepare for tonight's Hour of Spin. Use this thread to document the reckless pseudo-journalism of the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann. Comments are open!

Levin should follow OW a bit more and he'd find dozens of better nicknames for the slovenly hack. "Overbite" is just lame.

    Kountdown's ratings are underwater
Dan and Tucker were cannon fodder
    Only moonbats now
    Keith, Chris, and Madcow
    Olby's screwing his buddy's daughter

Tonight Keithee is only to happy to report what Rolling Stone magazine quotes about Nancy Pelosi and her interest in pursuing indicting Bush et al, but he's yet to report on what the Pope said about Pelosi regarding her wayward liberal Catholic beliefs.

    Rolling Stone Mag.....The Pope.....Rolling Stone Mag.....The Pope.....?

    KO goes with the secular!!!!!

Jimmy Legs continues on his quest to see Bush and his adminstration indicted for torture. He keeps referring to, "rendition," which has been a US policy long before Bush. In Richard Clarke's book he says this:

"'extraordinary renditions', were operations to apprehend terrorists abroad, usually without the knowledge of and almost always without public acknowledgment of the host government…. The first time I proposed a snatch, in 1993, the White House Counsel, Lloyd Cutler, demanded a meeting with the President to explain how it violated international law. Clinton had seemed to be siding with Cutler until Al Gore belatedly joined the meeting, having just flown overnight from South Africa. Clinton recapped the arguments on both sides for Gore: "Lloyd says this. Dick says that. Gore laughed and said, 'That's a no-brainer. Of course it's a violation of international law, that's why it's a covert action. The guy is a terrorist. Go grab his ass.'"

So we had Bush-haters wanting to prosecute Bush for leaning towards keeping the US safe when the time came to balance safety and legality, and now Obama gets in office and seems to realize the same thing. In order to keep the US safe, sometimes you have to bend the rules.

Were there any O'Reilly or Fox attacks tonight? Was there a follow-up on the big protest outside Fox HQ?

12,000 imperialist war monger troops are being sent to Afghanistan in what you might call a "surge". Remember when "surge" was a dirty word. Everything old is new again with Obama. What were Olbermann's opinions on the surge?

I do remember, Factor. It was an "escalation [Ding!]."

As expected, Keith picked on Sarah Palin for the per diem tax issue, giving her the bronze in WPITW. Since this is essentially an update to old news, I don't know why it's in the WPITW category, but good ol' Keith used the occassion to read off some of the per diem expenses that are now in the public record.

Rush Limbaugh earned the silver for writing an as-yet unpublished op-ed piece for the Wall Street Journal slamming the fairness doctrine. Olby slams Rush because Obama said he didn't support the fairness doctrine. Never mind that David Axelrod said the FCC will handle it, or that liberals can just call it something else. Another fine example of Olby the Liberal ignoring the concept for the semantics.

Worst to Sean Hannity for using his radio show to promote Stanford Coins and Bullion, a front for scammer Allen Stanford (who Olby doesn't mention is a huge political contributor to both parties, with the scales tipped toward the Democrats, and whom was photographed getting a nice big hug from Nancy Pelosi and the Dem Convention last year).

Civility count: In keeping with Keith's Feb. 18 call for civility in Political discourse, tonight he ignored himself with the usual cheap nicknames: calling Fox News Fixed News in regards to a Palin interview; Rush Limbaugh, as usual, is The Comedian (I can't tell if this is a slam on Limbaugh's style or a 'Watchmen' reference); and Sean Hannity is, again, Manatee.

I don't get the voice he does for Limbaugh.

At least there weren't any O'Reilly Attacks. But there will be one tomorrow night, for sure. When knocking MSNBC tonight in Reality Check (re: ratings), Bill brought up GE's stock price. I can hear it already: News Corp has a lower price! $4.6 billion! Cartoon in NY Post! Etc.

Olbermann continues his obsession with the phony outrage of the left, spending two segments on the NY Post political cartoon.

#3 Covers black protests outside News Corp. HQ. He says Spike Lee will join the protest tomorrow, and Al Sharpton is considering asking the FTC to pull Murdoch's exemption that lets him own newspapers and TV shows in the city at the same time. Olby brings in Daddy Warbucks clone Michael Wolff to discuss Murdoch's love of all things Obama, how the editor screwed up, how Murdoch is upset, yada yada. Wolff says the FTC won't do anything.

#1 Keith brings in breaking news to cover the NY Post apology over the cartoon, which KO slams as a "non-apology apology" that puts the blame on those offended. Keith reads the apology, which rightly points out the true intent of the cartoon and apologizes if anyone who misread it was offended, but no apology is given to media blowhards who blew the incident out of proportion, to which KO makes an egotistical aside that his picture didn't appear next to the apology. "In their own special way, they have apologized," he says. Note that KO picks on this apology in the wake of last week's "retraction" in which he apologized for a third-party Web site whose mistake he turned into a Fox News smear.
KO brings in parrot Eugene Robinson, booked for another topic, to express his surprise over the apology, though he calls it odd. They seem to conclude the apology is only for those who were honestly offended, not Liberals using it for political gain, or anti-Fox libs.

They conclude Ruport Murdoch has been liberalized by his wife, and that Murdoch must have ordered the apology. And Robinson bemuses about why the editor let the cartoon go in the first place (um, maybe because they aren't racists, don't think in racist terms and don't think like Eugene Robinson and KO ... more evidence they support the hegemony of thought in American culture).

This cartoon "scandal" is a prime example of Liberals using manufactured outrage as a front to promote censorship against their political enemies.

    Welcome to the Twilight Zone.

Olby attacks Nancy Grace. Kicking off Oddball, he describes an 1859 case involving the first acquittal for temporary insanity, in which a man shot the son of Francis Scott Key and was defended by Edwin Stanton, future secretary of war for Lincoln. "Think what this trial must have been like. Nancy Grace could have milked that story for 42 weeks."

Spoken like a guy in third place.

Watching the rerun and Howard Dean talking about values. One of the more major oxymorons. DNC and Values.

Mike his comparison of GE vs. News Corp. should be an insult to his bosses except certainly he, and perhaps they are too stupid to realize it. GE is #12 and News Corp. is #280 on the last Fortune 500. Two different leagues. He is trying to leverage the size of GE which is more than 90% businesses other than the media to News Corp. which is all media. Probably because if you compared NBC/MSNBC alone it would be a relative peanut by comparison. What he doesn't realize when he runs the numbers is that the stock prices at their highs or their lows are not comparable. The loss in market value for GE going from some $45/share to $10/share compared to News Corp. is staggering. He is a moron without clue.

    Agreed.

    Rolling Stone Mag.....The Pope.....Rolling Stone Mag.....The Pope.....?

    KO goes with the secular!!!!!

    Both ripped from think propaganda.

Yesterday I referred to Keithee's habit of using speculation as the truth and tonight his guest (a Vanity Fair columnist) that talked about Murdoch immediate says "speculation is that Murdoch is livid about the cartoon".....geezsusChrist....they now admit they all are merely speculating.

I spoke earlier on another thread about shoe-thrower guy and sure enough Olbs brings it up for absecond before commercial and compliments the show thrower as eloquent. You have got to be kidding me.

By Great Thanks on February 19, 2009 10:24 PM
I don't get the voice he does for Limbaugh.

Like most all of Keith's shtick it is contrived. I guess Keith does it because Rush does some voices on his show and so Keith intentionally botches the Rush voice to mock the fact that Rush does voices...? It just comes off as annoying. If Keith had the talent to do this sort of thing off the cuff like Rush or other entertainers then it might have a shred of entertainment value. Keith is "reading" Rush quotes and doing the voice...it doesn't work. Most of his show doesn't work because it is all scripted. It is scripted because Keith can't pull off anything intelligible when he wings it. The perfect examples of his brain off autopilot are his unscripted 100 word questions and the unscripted responses to his "guests"; nonsensical meanderings that spiral down with the pitch of his voice. The lowering of his voice and the eyes drifting down point to the direction that his utterances are headed...in the bottom of the garbage pail. Keith pulls out of the nose dive and picks up the teleprompter..."Great thanks..."

Keiths new Rush voice is by far the worst. Rupert Pirate voice is worser. And I'll let someone else decide worse voice....

I vote for Keith's O'Reilly Ted Baxter voice as worse.

I agree, Jeff. Hell is that voice. The mannerisms Keith uses aren't any better.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot the O'Reilly-Baxter voice. I guess he uses it so often now that I confused it w/ regular Olby voice.

If Sean Hannity is Keith Olbermann's Worst Person because he pitched Allen Stanford's services, what does that make President Barack Obama, who took almost $32,000 from the alleged scammer?

    http://news-cycle.blogspot.com/2009/02/if-hannity-is-olbermanns-worst-person.html

Be advised. Olby loves it when we complain about his crappy voice shtick.

    Noted.

Speaking of "voices," anybody pick up on the similiarity in Turdley's and Daschle's REAL, actual voices? Or is that just me? Whatever....the drivel that Turdley spews makes me want to PUKE!!

Keith gets it wrong once again.

Tonight he ridicules Santorum for saying the Qur'an is written in Islamic. The truth is that the Qur'an is written in Islamic Calligraphy. Google "Islamic Calligraphy" and you will see what Keith did not bother to investigate before he again put his foot in this mouth.

I disagree. Olbermann knows exactly what he is doing with his schtick. He reads this blog regularly afterall. You don't get to his position without some intelligence. The real morons, are those million or so viewers (excluding OW commenters) who tune into his schtick, and gulp his koolaid blindly. Yeah, his numbers have declined since the election, but still. A million or so morons.

a million or so morons may have tuned out of Olbermann, but they are still American voters who support the wrong type of politicians. They don't know any better, and that's why they tuned into Kool-Aid boy Olbermann to begin with. That's the scary fundamental in all this.

Poor Olbermann. He is undoubtable caught up in the Blue Blog Hysteria regarding John Gibson and the "Blue Scrotum" comment. Pity the story has been obliterated of any validity by the one and only Johnny Dollar.

Exactly my point American47000. Olbermann is just one,... uh, well, his lacky guests count too, but still, those putzs are but few when compared to the million or so morons that take the countdown juvenile schtick seriously. And, some of them have probably reproduced.

Typical to see Olbermann pick up on that false smear of Gibson, without vetting it first. Now, let's see how he attempts to get out of this situation, where he helped spread another false smear.

I wonder what this site's lone olbyloon, one of those million or so morons, thinks of this. Oh MikeHee, where art thou? Where is your rightous indignation towards your hero, you know, the one who you claimed "speaks truth to power".

I've read several comments on other sites that Olbermann actually ran with the Gibson/scrotum phony quote last night. But there was no mention of it here and I didn't see it in yesterday's transcript. Does anyone know for sure (transcript can be wrong)?

I searched the transcript for "gibson" and found nothing.
And please don't goad that guy, flindycon.

Yeah, I too saw reports from commentors stating that Olbermann ran with the smear, and I haven't been able to confirm it either. If it proves untrue, I retract what I posted, and offer both Olbermann and MikeHee a sincere apology.

See, it really isn't so hard.

Oh, and #4 featured a blue dress interview with Howard Dean. This exchange was chilling to read:
"... Joining me now, as promised, the former of the Democratic National Committee and former governor, Howard Dean.
Thanks for coming in in person, sir.
HOWARD DEAN, FORMER DNC CHAIRMAN: Thanks for having me on. First time I‘ve ever been in this studio, not the first time on your show.
OLBERMANN: It is totally underwhelming, isn‘t it?
    DEAN: Yes, it‘s great."

After a whole segment of blaming Republicans, they ended with...
"... The Republicans haven't gotten the message yet and they're going to have to get it in order for them to succeed as a party.
OLBERMANN: Indeed. Governor Howard Dean, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee—great pleasure to see you, sir.
DEAN: Thanks for having me on.
    OLBERMANN: Thanks for coming in."

Still Bushed actually *did* feature an O'Reilly Attack and a Fox attack. All of that happened right after the #3 segment with The Other Wolff Man. Oh, and there was a Glenn Beck attack in BPitW, but I don't feel like sharing it. Here's the O'Reilly/Fox attack (info in brackets added by me):
"Number three, talking points [Ding!]-gate. As has been established by several former [disgruntled] Fox News employees, the channel regularly relied on memos [Ding!] sent from the Bush White House for guidelines to shape its quote [Ding!] “news” unquote coverage. Bill O'Reilly and others often read those talking points [Ding!] sometimes nearly verbatim." That was refuted last summer, but we all knew it was Another Olbermann Lie. Anyway, "Now more evidence that the details may have changed but the propaganda [Ding!] structure is in place.
First it was Fox's Jon Scott reading a congressional committee press release word for word including a typo. Now it's the channel's newest water carrier [Ding!], Bret Baier reading whatever is put in front of him by the remnants of the Bush media machine [Ding!]. In a special on the stimulus package Baier said, quote [Ding!], “In fact, as the U.S. fights two wars the administration is asking the Pentagon to cut its budget by 10 percent.” In fact the Obama administration's 2010 budget for the Pentagon is up by $14 billion over this year. What is cut by 10 percent was the 2010 budget figures submitted last fall by Bush‘s Joint Chiefs of Staff."

By the way, the special was "Trillion with a T: How to Spend $1,000,000,000,000.00".

Repeating what I said before, *THE MSNBC.COM TRANSCRIPT OF LAST NIGHT'S "COUNTDOWN" SHOWED NO MENTION OF JOHN GIBSON.*

A muted mongrel on COUNTDOWN tonight.....

"CANDIDATE OBAMA: I will make sure that we renegotiate, in the same way that Senator Clinton talked about. And I think actually Senator Clinton’s answer on this one is right. I think we should use the hammer of a potential opt-out as leverage to ensure that we actually get labor and environmental standards that are enforced. And that is not what has been happening so far."

Now....a year later.....a private promise kept to the Canadians, the broken promise to those who voted for him thinking he would renegotiate NAFTA.....and an ever diminished leader.......

Where oh where is MikeH to defend the messiah's integrity?

And another predicted muted mongrel on COUNTDOWN tonight.....

"A Pentagon review of conditions in the Guantanamo Bay military prison has concluded that the treatment of detainees meets the requirements of the Geneva Convention but that prisoners in the highest-security camps should be allowed more religious and social interaction with each other, according to a government official who has read the 85-page document.

"The report, which was ordered by President Obama, was prepared by Adm. Patrick M. Walsh, the vice chief of naval operations, and has been delivered to the White House. Obama requested the review as part of an executive order on the planned closure of the prison at the Guantanamo Bay U.S. naval base on the southeastern tip of Cuba…

"Walsh concluded that … force-feeding, which involves strapping prisoners to feeding chairs and forcing tubes down one nostril and into their stomachs, is in compliance the Geneva Convention’s mandate that the lives of prisoners must be preserved, the government official said."

Oh well....Obama and his radical leftist base will have to fish for more specific evidence that GITMO is a haven for bad Americans getting pleasure in violating the Geneva Convention .....What a challenge!

    VERO POSSUMUS!

Stop, cee, please stop. Do you really want another nonstop ideological back-and-forth that gets us nowhere and leads to nothing but insults and cut-and-pastes? What pleasure do you guys get from going back and forth with that guy?

I'm talking about who your "where oh where" was directed at.

Gotcha, Mike. I'm gone for the weekend, so I won't be responding to anything posted, if anything.

When it is a part of COUNTDOWN's summary, it is nice to have the Olbermann supporter try to defend the indefensible, that is fun to watch.....But MikeH has never been very pleasant as some defenders, so it is less fun.

    Have a good weekend.

Tonight he ridicules Santorum for saying the Qur'an is written in Islamic. The truth is that the Qur'an is written in Islamic Calligraphy. Google "Islamic Calligraphy" and you will see what Keith did not bother to investigate before he again put his foot in this mouth.

Olbermahn is none too bright getting his script from think "progress."

I foresee more Nancy Grace attacks.

Cable News Ratings for Thursday, February 19

    Campbell Brown—1,087,000 viewers (335,000) (496,000)
    Countdown w/Keith Olbermann –1,423,000 viewers (475,000) (661,000)

    8PM
    The O’Reilly Factor—3,732,000
    Countdown w/Keith Olbermann –1,423,000

Bill's getting close again to the 3:1 ratio (in fact it's been like that much of this week).

I'd love to see that sustained.

"The loss in market value for GE going from some $45/share to $10/share compared to News Corp. is staggering."

    Make that $9/share... and falling

There are 10.5 billion shares of GE outstanding. A loss of $36/share equals a $378 billion loss in market cap. Comparitively, News Corp's 17 point loss off its high is a $44 billion loss. Hence, GE has lost $334 billion or nearly 9x more than News Corp off their high stock price.

You know who else skewed Sean Hannity last night? According to a NewsBusters link in the OlbyFlood, far-left CNN anchor Rick Sanchez! http://newsbusters.org/blogs/matthew-balan/2009/02/20/taking-their-cue-huffpost-olbermann-cnns-sanchez-bash-hannity

My guess was the market value loss differential was huge. Nearly $300bn. is sort of over the top. Proves the point. There really is no comparing the two organizations from a metrics point of view. GE is the big time loser. That is why he is a moron. He isn't using this to some advantage. He just has no clue. That is probably why he is so sharp in the real estate business that he thinks he doesn't have to pay property taxes.
