This is the recappers' comment thread for tonight's Countdown. Not only will be have the regular installment at eight, after that Edward R Olbermann will play an impartial newsman and anchor coverage of the Presidential address and Republican response. Yes, even though actual journalists find this prospect to be absurd and revolting. Then, a bonus Hour of Spin at 10:00 pm. The Obamavision lenses at A-Mess-NBC will be working overtime tonight!
Post your analysis here. Be an Olbermann Watch blogger--without all the muss and fuss. Comments are open!
Merkle congratulates self for predicting Murdoch apology. I guess when he gets something right, it's worth heralding.
Sharpton is back after a one night hiatus. He and Olbermann pick gnat crap out of ground pepper, kick a dead horse, saw sawdust, and try to act seriously in spite of this issue being completely out of steam.
Stop the show!!! Obama is leaving the White House to go to Capital Hill. It must be shown live on Keithee's program. Great news story. Definitely a show-stopper.
........my ass....
"He and Olbermann pick gnat crap out of ground pepper, kick a dead horse, saw sawdust, and try to act seriously in spite of this issue being completely out of steam."
Damn, Dan, I just spit coke all over my monitor.
"pick gnat crap out of ground pepper" is too funny. That is a new one on me. Thanks for the laugh.
Grammie, that makes us even for today. I'm still laughing about your theory of why the Attorney General is in hiding tonight!!
Just wanted to post this in case Dopey might have taken anything out of context.
From The New York Post METRO Edition 2-24-09
Bottom right hand corner of page 2
Statement from Rupert Murdoch:
"As the Chairman of the New York Post, I am ultimately responsible for what is printed in its pages. The buck stops with me.
Last week, we made a mistake. We ran a cartoon that offended many people. Today I want to personally apologize to any reader who felt offended, and even insulted.
Over the past couple of days, I have spoken to a number of people and I now better understand the hurt this cartoon has caused. At the same time, I have had conversations with Post editors about the situation and I can assure you - without a doubt - that the only intent of that cartoon was to mock a badly written piece of legislation. It was not meant to be racist, but unfortunately, it was interpreted by many as such.
We all hold the readers of the New York Post in high regard and I promise you that we will seek to be more attuned to the sensitivities of our community."
Gee, I wonder why Sharpton would go on a third rated show with a third rate hack to push this issue, when he is always welcome on 'The Factor'?
Wouldn't have anything to do with the small donation (shakedown) Al might pursue against News Corp after the fact?
Wonder if Keith is going to get a cut?
His girl could use the money.
Yeah, with that 'Sleek, Rock Hard, All Night' body of his, I'm sure she needs a few 'Household Appliances' in her closet.
Oh Al, Keith? One last thing.
There was a cartoon making the rounds of Mike Steele looking like Sambo, where was the outrage over that?
I must have missed that show eh?
I can't believe that he actually said he didn't want the "pokulus" bill b/c he wants bigger government b/c he doesn't. Riiiiiight........
My head is starting to hurt listening to this. :)
Having fun with Liberal Logic.
Al Sharpton insists monkeys and chimps in cartoons automatically represent black Americans.
To consistently hold that view, Sharpton has to concede that many liberals must think GW Bush was our first black president.
After all, liberals OFTEN represented GWB as a monkey.
Just a thought.
BTW: make that GW Bush was our second black president. I was told by many liberals during the 90's that Bill Clinton was our FIRST black president.
Did anyone catch the "Oh God" when Jendel came up to speak? Bet anything that was KO without knowing his mic was shut off. Whoever it was...way to go A-Holes at MSNBC.
Well the big 3 made it pretty crowded in Obamas lap. Not room for 3 heads at once. Watching what's his name for the Repubs. now. Conservative or not, I am not voting for Alfred E. Newman for President. Give me Sarah. Any woman who can gut a buck deserves to be President.
8PM Edition:
#5A: The Original Wolffe Man.
#5B: The Barney.
#4: Newly crowned News Corp hater Sharpton.
#3: Howie Fineman.
#2: The sainted Ms. Rachel.
#1: Hating on Bush (again?) with Chris Matthews.
WPitW: I don't care tonight.
"any woman who can get a buck deswerves to be president"
And conversely, by such deep logic, any buck who can get a woman must deserve to be president as well...eh killer?
And Rep. Frank was another blue dress interview to add to The List.
Wow, how about that on the spot post Jindal speech analysis by Olbermann and Maddow... "ahhhh ahhhhh ahhhh duhhhh ahhhhhh". That's not an exagerration.
Gibbs just completely ignored KOs absurd questions and appeared to be just using msnbc for the free airtime.
Oh, Olby has gained another 10 -15 lbs just this past week. He looks like a bloated tick
Cheap shot noted. Moving on.
There are reports circulating of an open mic moment with Olby. As Jindal was approaching the podium, allegedly Merkle was heard to mutter "My God". Anyone hear that, or catch it on video?
Noted from the comment above my "add to The List" comment. I'm not talking about you, irush. We posted at the same time, apparently.
Nice paraphrase there Mike. Maybe you should try going back to third grade for a spelling lesson though. Seems like you got it wrong. It is called gutting a buck. That means you cut it with a blade. I always find it interesting how you libs. get crazy about any woman who shows some moxie, strength, courage or black for that matter if they are on the wrong side of your thinking. You always seem to attract the gender and racial toads like BBoxer or NANNNNNNNNNNNCy or Charley Rangel. Great role models all 3.
My attempt to stop a never-ending back-and-forth failed.
Oh I wish I seen Gibb on, I love it when people shrug Keith off. Specially dems.
has msnbc bothered to disclose that newsweek magazine is changing to (or finally officially admitting it) to an strictly opinion-based publication?
I'm sure you'll hear it again Johnny when they do the replay of Jendal's speech it's just as he's coming into the picture, you hear the "oh god". And not a mumble either.

Well I'll dvr the middle-of-the-night replay but I'd rather get it sooner than later!
Olbermann Fineman & Dean have all now said, ignore the details and substance of the speech because the presentation and theatrics were so masterful.
Here it is:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/02/msnbc_oh_god.html
Somebody says "Oh God" or "My God" and there's laughter in the background. It doesn't sound like Fat Ass to me.
Either way it was rude though on someones' part at MSNBC
Johnny, I hate to always be such a pest but the video won't work for me.
It goes to 4 seconds and stops. No sound, even background sounds.
I agree, It's not Olby.
See our new post on "OhGodGate".
Either way it was rude though on someones' part at MSNBC
"I always find it interesting how you libs get crazy when any woman shows some moxie, strength, or courage."
And I always find it even more interesting how you wingers ALWAYS miss the point.
While I wasn't really talking about hunting at all, I might as well address it since YOU brought it up:......I also find it interesting how someone might define blasting an animal who can't shoot back as showing "courage" or "strength".
As a former highly trained linguist and airborne voice intercept specialist, I have absolutely no doubt it was LowBlo KO.
Borrowing from an Olby presidential pre-speech phrase of praise, when I heard the dulcet toned, professional news anchor's hushed prayerful opine, I responded "jaws agape."

Lets see if I understand you Mike C: My little joke stabbing fun at shallow thinking was a "chep shot"....but Irush's post claiming that Olbermann looked like a "bloated tick" wasn't'
Does that really make sense to you, Mike C?....Even in your biased and 'nonconfrontational' eyes?
I get it Mike C....Based on your post at 11:04, I should assume that my little joke poking fun at shallow thinking at 10:48 was a "cheap shot".....but Irush claiming someone looks like a "bloated tick" wasn't?
Well, I guess that makes sense to YOU anyway!

.....I also find it interesting how someone might define blasting an animal who can't shoot back as showing "courage" or "strength".
Perhaps it is for someone who is trying to feed their family.

Ya know Mike,I also find that there are liberals that watch Olbermann and since he never has anybody on that will debate him, somehow they look at him as a person is who showing "courage" and/or "strength".
Me? I'll take a woman who can whip up a mean Mooseburger over a guy that wants to read 'Goldilocks' to a hungry grizzly.
MikeC, just ignore Mikey. He isn't worth a second thought much less letting any of his crap upsetting you.
Consider the source. In response to what was obviously a joke about any woman (Palin) who can gut a moose deserves to be president he takes it in a totally new and disturbing direction.
He flips it and seems to imply any guy who can gut a woman.
He calls Cavalry "killer" and later gives us a lecture on the EVILS of hunting.
He is not worthy of your contempt even.

T-Pac
Mike doesn't understand that part. He doesn't understand the shooting. The Processing. The Storing in the freezer that not only will feed you're family but save on Grocery bills.
Besides, you doing it all you're self Mike will probably try to shame you by saying your taking away some $18 (w/ benefits) an hour union supermarket worker's job.
Grammie: "He flips it seems to imply any guy who can gut a woman."
Sorry Janet, but you're the LAST one one on this blog who should claim what you think someone mean't while ignoring what they actually said....Your ability to think rationally has already been exposed as non-existant long ago.
Not only do I have no doubt it was Olby, if MSNBC does the middle-of-the-night replay, there's a better than 50/50 chance the audio will get scrubbed, and NOT by the transcribibing company.
"puck30": "Mike doesn't understand that part. He doesn't understand the shooting, the Processing, The storing in the freezer that not only will feed you're family but save on Grocery bills."
It's absolutely amazing how you people can twist EVERYTHING....LOL!
What I actually said had NOTHING to do with feeding a family or saving on groceries........But it had everything to do with how shooting an animal that cannot shoot back can be defined as 'courageous'?
Still waiting for an answer on that one?
Lets see if I understand you Mike C: My little joke stabbing fun at shallow thinking was a "chep shot"....but Irush's post claiming that Olbermann looked like a "bloated tick" wasn't'...MikeH
Definition of cheap: of little value or poor quality; virtually worthless
deserving of scorn;
So I would assume that by taking a "cheap shot" at olbermann MikeH means it is unworthy to do so because olbermann is way above this kind of childish behavior, as he NEVER has done that in his life. Furthermore if anybody did take a "cheap shot" at olbermann without any proof that olbermann ever did resort to this kind of behavior then that would make them disengenurous, and frankly a bald face liar, which of course is something that olbermann also has never done before.
Even though it has been pointed out on this site at least a thousand times to MikeH with proof in both the above scenarios, as a matter of fact almost EVERY post for the past 3-4 years has started out with something olbermann has lied about or has hi-lighted with his "cheap shot" antics with proof (either transcripts or my favorite...video's) and to MikeH there still is no truth to any of what he sees and hears.
Definition of delusional: fixed false belief that is RESISTANT to REASON or CONFRONTATION with actual FACT...
Psychiatry definition: a false belief strongly held in SPITE of invalidatory evidence, especially as a symptom of mental illness..
Bad news MikeH sorry to say, as I always felt sorry for you:
There are no systematic studies on treatment approaches and results in Delusional Disorder. The patient's distrust and suspiciousness usually prevents any contact with a therapist, and therefore his chance for recovery is very slim.
olbermann is a bloated tick, there will be no debate on the topic
Wolverine: "Bad news MikeH sorry to say, as I always felt saorry for you:"
LOL......My neighbor's mentally challenged son might feel sorry for me too, but why would I care about that either?
It's Olbermann's voice.

I had to register just to comment on this. It's pretty bad when you admit that you are so ignorant that someone mentally challenged would feel sorry for you, and I am willing to bet that you give plenty of hugs to strangers.
You try to point out the irony of others on this site while you ignore those with whom you agree with. Either you are Special Ted or have adopted his views on everything to include criticizing while not accepting any critical comments on your own misguided ideology or obvious lack of critical thinking skills.
To everyone else, thanks for watching that crappy show so I don't have to.

Unlike some folks that can stay up all night on their govt. check (Btw: will they be getting a $13 raise?) I have a job to do in the morning.
Let's see,
You shoot the animal.
You process the animal.
You store the process in you're freezer.
You feed you're family and save on grocery bills.
It's not twisting.
It's the evolution of things out here.
How do they do it on Paranoid Planet Mikey?
Oh, one last thing, I don't feel sorry for you Mike. I just sort of sit out here and chuckle.

Welcome aboard, sir. I hope we see you again.
Mikey made several comment in the past essentially bragging that his "retarded" nephew (or cousin) was a lot smarter then us.
Charming fellow don't you think?
Sorry, I submitted my last comment without this:
Mikey didn't insult or offend any of us. Not at all.
He shamed himself and his family to so cavalierly exploit his nephew just to try and score cheap points on a blog. What a wuss!
I was wrong regarding who spoke the words, "Oh God," as Jindal approached the mike. Apparantly Matthews has admitted he was the speaker. I owe an apology to KO. Would someone please apologiuze for me?

That goes a long way in explaining why this site's lone olbyloon, MikeHee, fails to scold his hero Olbermann for his distortions, lies, and smears.
MikeHee aspires to be an Olbermann!
No apology is necessary, ramjet (although I suspect you were being sarcastic). Keith Olbermann was ANCHORING the coverage, and he is responsible to conduct the coverage in a fair and balanced way.....He did not. An explaination from him or Matthews after the slip and laughter was known would have been the ethical thing to do....
The new Murrow has no problem with the biased coverage. Pundits, journalists....it does not matter....NBC NEWS has abandoned any shred of honesty.
Real differences of opinion about government spending, borrowing, federal government growth, CONSTITUIONAL questions on the unfunded mandates being thrust upon states already very subserviant to the Washington behemoth as well as the cost from the states already strapped for cash in the future exist.
Jindal intelligently, if not with great style and flair, presented those differences and the challenge that much of the stimulus will not help the country get out of the recession.
The "journalists" covering the story divulged their agenda. This country is diminished by such unprofessional and biased action because if Obama's plan fails, Jindal is a part of the opposition that is supposed to exist to help fix the mess that was created. Olbermann and his ilk act as if it is guaranteed Obama's plan will be a benefit. It may make things worse. Where is the accountability we heard so much about from the "loyal opposition" during the Bush FASCIST years?
In addition, the acceptance of Obama's contentions without question (how about that the automobile was invented by Americans or that his plans do not make government bigger?), also shows these "journalists" as the shills we have all always known them to be.
Jindal spoke intelligently and with conviction. The press seemed to deride another prominent Republican for not being so smart.....remember Sarah Palin?....It seems republicans are damned if they are smart, damned if they are charasmatic.
That's ok, though. The fawning of such self-important people will be remembered as absurd because the plans being implemented by Obama and the liberal Democrats will fail.
I am worried about what these failures will mean for my family's and community's future, but I suggest people prepare for about 4 years from now.....it will not be pretty.
And heaven forbid there is an international crisis even 1/10th that of 9/11.....Obama is 100% pol....only the campaign continues and the narrow/shallow principles and ability of the current executive and his designees will be easily torn asunder in the harsh cool wind of international catastrophe. EVERYTHING is calculated in personal political terms for this new administration and it will negatively impact the world for generations to come.
