Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

    March 16, 2009
Blue Blogs Dramatized: The Cheney Interview (Monday Recappers Thread)

It's not hard to predict what the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann will cover tonight. Cheney, Cheney, Cheney. Maybe he'll demand "Dick" leave the country again! Toss in the third recycling of the same story ("torture" at Gitmo: i.e. three terrorists waterboarded) and there's another block accounted for. Wait, the Simpson's made fun of O'Reilly? Olby can't turn that down. Of course we know what he won't cover. We're going out on a limb here and say there won't be a segment devoted to the Cramer/Stewart showdown. And if Bathtub Boy is bowing to his corporate masters to spike that story, then it's not likely he'll say anything about the anti-CNBC petition that has just been launched. Even though it's being backed by two of Oralmann's most reliable Blue Blog Sources: Media Matters and Daily Kos (Monkeymann's own blog of preference).

Since we know it's going to be a Cheneypalooza on tonight's Hour of Spin, why not enjoy a selection of dramatized comments from the blue blogs? These are Olby's sources after all, and now you can hear them without having to go through the repellent middleman. Use this space to recap tonight's show. Comments are open!

So far, he went after Cheney with both barrels, and yet nothing about their "silence" on the Cramer/Stewart situtation. Then a minute discussing "boxcar" willie who was there at Cornell A&M who apparently was his "mentor". He looked like roadkill if you asked me.

But we'll see if Garafalo adds to the pot. Of course now KO is hoping that they won't let Bush into Canada thinking he committed war crimes. Geez KO give it up. Aren't you off the air yet?

LMAO that was the best Blue Blog reaction I ever heard. it had me rolling.

I had to giggle when Olbermann described the NY Post as losing money...

WASHINGTON -- General Electric Co. lost its top credit rating from Standard & Poor's on Thursday over concerns of rising loan losses and lower earnings at its lending arm, GE Capital.

The long-expected ratings cut _ down one notch to 'AA+' from 'AAA' _ offered further proof that the financial crisis has shaken the foundation of one of the nation's biggest and traditionally most stable companies. In the past year, GE has posted disappointing earnings, seen loan losses grow, and cut its dividend for the first time since the Great Depression. The loss of its pristine credit rating means the company, which makes loans, light bulbs, and runs NBC, will likely pay more to borrow money.

Now I know what happened to Frenchy from Grease, she got butt ugly and turned into a fat liberal named Garafalo. I didn't notice that KO had on his gay pink tie.

KO just nods when she speaks, talk about a giant lap dog. Garafalo knows nothing about politics, much like about 90 percent of the actors/actresss IN hollywood.

Can we include COUNTDOWN IN CRISIS!!! in all the recappers thread titles this week ?

Christine can really do it right, she has me rolling! Taking nothing away from Angry Rich.

Rich tries to build up, Christine just puts the pedal to the floor.

thats the best part of todays recap, who's gives a 'fire truck' what Olby and that fugitive from Dick Zigum's Freak show had to say.

    Okay, Okay.

    www.coneyisland.com/per.dick.shtml

For those of you who don't know Dick................ Zigum.

The name "Janeane" reminds one of skank
Something that's rotten, foul, and rank
    Oily skin and tattoos
    There's not enough booze
Because a sane man would rather wank

Bush being arrested upon entering Canada???...in your dreams Keithee...in your wettest of dreams.

Whoa! He really suggested that Bush would be arrested in Canada?

#5: Cheney! The Wolffe Man kept his streak going.

#4: Video title: "AIG in debt to taxpayers." Non-populist Keith brought in non-populist Robert Reich.

Oddball: A fashion robot introduced in Japan. This story also made Reality Check on the snarkless "O'Reilly Factor."

BPitW: Something about some guy from Cornell.

#3: Video title: "Bush unwelcome in Canada." Radical left attorney Gail Davidson radically railed against the eeevil former President Bush. As a result, no Still Bushed...for once.

#2: The Media Matters Minute. Worse was the equally eeevil Richard Johnson of the eeevil Page Six in the eeevil New York Post.

Worser was Steve Doocy, "the walking spoonerism." Fixed News! [Ding!] Blue blog source: Extra Crispy Story. http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Fox_host_says_CNN_could_be_0316.html
Joking about CNN is forbidden on OlbyPlanet...unless Monkeymann is doing it, of course.

Worst was Rep. Bill Posey (evil R-FL). Blue blog source: HuffPo. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/03/16/bill-posey-sponsors-presi_n_175277.html
For wanting a birth certificate bill for future presidential candidates, Posey hates our current President. Grow a pair! Racists! [Ding!] Nutbags! [Ding!] Ed Murrow would be so proud.

#1: The return of the self-loathing "wizard" (see 3/11 O'Reilly Attack), Janeane Garofalo.

I could only watch about a minutes worth before switching the TV off. The minute I seen nearly made me vomit when Goebels-Olberwomann critisized CNN for not asking Cheney any tough questions (you know, like KO always does?) about the Cheney Murder Inc.

CNN should have also asked about that story I seen in Weekly World News last year in the grocery store. The headline said:

PRESIDENT BUSH IS REALLY AN ALIEN

Such a headline had as much credit as Sy Hersh's fictional piece.

"Why wouldn't CNN ask about the Cheney Hit Squad?" What a dumb ass question asked by a moron.

irush...the Canadian woman lawyer that was Keith's guest would prefer that Bush be barred from entering but should he enter he must be prosecuted for his War Crimes although under such a scenario he could eventually get extradited to a country willing to take him....what a piece a crap. Well at least her friends have gathered some shoes to throw at Bush, but knowing such a crowd the shoes are probably pink, feathery slippers.....hehe

I forgot to mention that Keith is in Los Angeles all week, culminating in his appearance in the Bob Barker Studio at CBS Television City on Friday night for HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher." For all the great work Drew Carey and the gang at "The Price is Right" do, and all the great shows that have emanated from that studio, Bill drags that studio down every Friday. Then, when the show is over for the week, and the set is struck, it goes back to its normal standing.

I didn't watch #3. So, I guess that attorney wasn't railing against Bush. She was just serving up a dream she and Olby would like fulfilled.

Speaking of dragging down reputations, Peter King of Sports Illustrated and NBC decided to take a shot at Ann Coulter. That must have made his "Football Night in America" colleague proud. This was brought to my attention in the OlbyFlood via NewsBusters:
    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/jeff-poor/2009/03/16/sports-illustrated-columnist-peter-king-bemoans-coulters-critique-liberal

Speaking of Maher, check out tonight's Gregalogue:
    http://www.dailygut.com/?i=4149

Hmmm, but if Bush was indeed detained, wouldn't Darth Cheney just order his secret police to use extraordinay rendition to recapture Dubya?

    Olby is such a clown
    Even his Kossiaks now frown
He's a laughing stock all over town
On his baseball card, he wears a gown
All the while his ratings are down

I love, absolutely love when Gibson puts those on.

    My fave was Corn Porn.

    Cornpone.

***WARNING***: Rachel Maddow will be on "The Late Show" tonight. The preview on the show's website reveals that Ms. Rachel wore her Al Franken glasses.
    http://lateshow.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/video_player/index/php/980685.phtml
Meanwhile, on "The Tonight Show," good guy Jay Leno has actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus and comedian Jim Norton. The bad guy news is that Keith Oralmann will be on Wednesday night.

    Thanks, Mike. :)

Wow, I hope that wasn't a very telling Freudian slip.

No wonder I got a spelling error. I should have looked closer b/c I assumed the error was that it was not a compond word so I separated them.

No mention of Obama's Ecommunist from Berkley ripping off John McCain's line about the economy being fundamentally sound? Obamanation called that line bullshit when the Dow was at 10,000 but he now thinks the economy is "fundamentally sound" when the Dow is around 7000.

Why couldn't the folks over at Fox leave Garofalo in the wilderness of "
Labor Pains" and "Love Hurts" rather than legitimizing her with the bit role on "24." I guess maybe she came in the package w/Sutherland, Bernard, Wersching, and company.

AND maybe Garofalo's appearances will entice some of her lefty following to watch "24." NAH! about 1-2 minutes of Jack Bauer would have most of Janeane's cronies crying like little girls. Olbermosexual included.

"Wow, I hope that wasn't a very telling Freudian slip."

    LOL!

"The Simpsons" homage to O'Reilly did not make the Hour of Spin. Phew.

To be honest, I don't know what to make of the Worst nod. I'm not one of those "where's-the-birth-certificate" or "it's-not-authentic" guys. But more often than not, attacks from Keith are baseless and purely ideological.

Does anybody else see that all of Keith's interviews with his guests are contrived and rehearsed. I wonder what time of day they get their scripts?

Overall, a predictable show considering the events of the weekend. Olbermann's schtick is simply getting old.

I am not surprised about the "birth certificate truther" being WPITW. Although it is amusing considering how Olbermann embraced much of the fringe leftwing truthers regarding 9/11, Halibutron, Iraq, etc. It was a simple ideological pick, although those who want more clarity regarding proof of citizenship from candidates for Presdient do have a point regarding transparency being the antedote to the silliness.

Muted mongrel....no surprise.....Obama continuing to pursue the new proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. If this had been Bush the democrats would already be holding hearings AND Olbermann would have already spewed a SPECIAL COMMENT claiming Bush Co. hates our troops.

Well the consistant tone deafness of the left regarding our troops is being shown in this policy proposal and the apologetic church of SNOBamessiah is willing to let it slide....Now it is getting bigger with a meeting that was held with the commander of the American Legion.....

"The commander of the American Legion emerged from a meeting with President Obama 'angered' at Obama’s insistence on generating revenue from those who sacrificed for American security:

"The leader of the nation’s largest veterans organization says he is 'deeply disappointed and concerned' after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

"'It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan,' said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. 'He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.'

"The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, 'This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate 'to care for him who shall have borne the battle' given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm's way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America’s veterans!'

"Commander Rehbein was among a group of senior officials from veterans service organizations joining the President, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki and Steven Kosiak, the overseer of defense spending at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The group's early afternoon conversation at The White House was precipitated by a letter of protest presented to the President earlier this month. The letter, co-signed by Commander Rehbein and the heads of ten colleague organizations, read, in part, 'There is simply no logical explanation for billing a veteran’s personal insurance for care that the VA has a responsibility to provide. While we understand the fiscal difficulties this country faces right now, placing the burden of those fiscal problems on the men and women who have already sacrificed a great deal for this country is unconscionable.'"

    ###
The anti-American left cannot keep up the fake caring for our armed forces easily, a la this policy. Even Michelle Obama's attempts are superficial and condescending. Oh well, this is what we got, hold your nose and wait for the self-destruction....

    VERO POSSUMUS!

Today is the day that KO and his minions worked very hard to prevent.

BOR is speaking at the IHTAF probably now. The petition that was hawked by so many blue blogs quietly passed away with only 922 signatures.

I hope that the foundation gained even more contributions from those of us who reacted to their get BOR, and the hell with the foundation and those they help, despicable assault against IHTAF.

    It's on Thursday.

I'm watching last night's "Red Eye" on DVR. The Gregalogue I linked to earlier wasn't used.

Well that's Thursday but today, Keithee's wet dream of Bush being arrested by Canadina authorities won't happen. Below is an excerpt from an article in the Toronto Star:

    Calgary welcome assured for Bush

George Bush makes his first paid speech March 17, 2009 since leaving office.

Activist group failed to arrange war-crimes charges

    Mar 17, 2009 04:30 AM

    Petti Fong
    WESTERN CANADA BUREAU CHIEF

VANCOVUER – When George W. Bush arrives in Calgary today to talk to 1,500 members of the city's business elite in his first paid speech since leaving office, he'll face a friendly crowd of admirers inside while protesters are hurling abuse at him outside.

What the 43rd U.S. president won't have to face during his short visit here this week is an indictment for war crimes.

"There's no possibility right now to serve him with any papers," said Gail Davidson, a Vancouver lawyer with the international group Lawyers Against the War. "We will next time or the time after that."

"Red Eye" also covered that fashion model that KO and BOR covered.

    ...fashion model *robot*.
And I knew that dream wouldn't be fulfilled.

By Mike C.Author Profile Page on March 17, 2009 12:25 PM

    It's on Thursday.

I jumped the gun. I thought it was supposed to be on March 17. At any rate the petition is shut down at 922 signatures, 9,000+ shy of their goal that they thought would force the story to be covered by the MSM.

    Muted mongrel tonight on COUNTDOWN....

Obama, 1 month ago....."Yesterday, Jim, the head of Caterpillar, said that if Congress passes our plan, this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off. And that's a story I'm confident will be repeated at companies across the country -- companies that are currently struggling to borrow money selling their products, struggling to make payroll, but could find themselves in a different position when we start implementing the plan. Rather than downsizing, they may be able to start growing again. Rather than cutting jobs, they may be able to create them again. That's the goal at the heart of this plan: to create jobs."

Today.....Caterpillar just announced another 2,454 layoffs in three states. This is the company's third round of layoffs in just a few months.

    Ooopsie! Another broken promise.

The church of SNOBamessiah is not delivering on those miracles!

    VERO POSSUMUS!

It's transcript time and it's worse than I thought from the preview images and video titles and descriptions on the "Countdown" website.
Opening spiel tease: "Worsts: The freshman Republican congressman who actually says something other than no [Ding!], unfortunately, it's a bill to require all presidential candidates to submit proof of citizenship which, quote [Ding!], ... Or you and the other tinfoil hat [Ding!] raving [Ding!] right-wing [Ding!] loons [Ding!] could just stop questioning what‘s already been proven.
And—it's vast left-wing conspiracy week. Bernie and Billo's [Ding!] worst five liberals in media. Tremble before the terrifying presence of our special guest—Janeane Garofalo.
All that and more—now on COUNTDOWN.
    (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BILL O'REILLY, TV HOST: It's scary, isn't it?"

So, I guess that means Bill Moyers tonight, Screw 'Em tomorrow night, Paul Krugman of the New York Times Thursday night, and some MSNBC person on Friday. This is Vendettamann's version of payback.

In-commerical tease: "... And you could be a responsible congressman and simply tell your tinfoil hat [Ding!] constituents that Barack Obama is indeed a natural born citizen or you could introduce a bill calling for greater birth documentation for presidential candidates. Take a guess which one a Florida Republican just did. The answer—ahead in Worsts."

Tease after #4: "... And evidence that the “New York Post” and its gossip editor, Richard Johnson, have truly jumped the shark [Ding!]. They compete with Steve Doocy and a lunatic fringe [Ding!] congressman in tonight's Worst Persons derby."

Tease after #3: "How well do you know the liberal conspiracy [Ding!] to destroy Bill O'Reilly? Meet the person his sidekick [Ding!] Bernie Goldberg placed fifth on his newest list, the all powerful and mighty Janeane Garofalo.
Then there is a new president of El Salvador, and his unholy links to America's dangerous enemy, Cesar Chavez of Venezuela. You almost hate to the tell the morning clowns [Ding!] at Fixed News [Ding!] that that is not who they are thinking of. Worst persons ahead on COUNTDOWN."

Then, WPitW: "She's been called the representative of Hollywood‘s ditz-ocracy by no less a moral authority than Bernard Goldberg. We call her our first guest on Left Wing Smear Machine Week. Janeane Garofalo is next. But first time for COUNTDOWN's number two story, tonight's worst persons in the world.
The bronze to gossip editor Richard Johnson of Rupert Murdoch's vanity newspaper the “New York Post.” After his section broke the dramatic scandal that the Topps Company ..." Yada yada yada. "After we here all stopped laughing and after it was pointed out to Dick Johnson that I have been involved with baseball card production since 1975 ... The “New York Post” loses a reported 50 to 60 millions dollars a year. My collection of baseball cards is worth more than is the “New York Post.” Then again, so is the collection of the average kid in your neighborhood. Thanks a lot, Dick." More anatomical implications from Keith TV-14 Olbermann.

On to Worser: "The runner up, the incomparable Steve Doocy, the walking spoonerism (ph) from Fixed News [Ding!], reporting that a former CNN employee has been elected the president of El Salvador. ... A Fox analyst named Peter Johnson (who was filling in for Brian Kilmeade) then said, ... Doocy came back with, ... There's a reason you won‘t see this story on CNN. The president elect's party allegedly has ties to strong man Cesar Chavez, Cesar Chavez, the late lamented American union organizer? You mean Hugo Chavez or Venezuela or, I don't know, maybe Eric Chavez of the Oakland Athletics."
That's right, Olbermoronn. They're sooooo dumb over there.

For Worst, let's skip right to the attack. "You could do that or you could grow a pair, Congressman Posey, and tell the racists [Ding!] and the assorted other nut bags [Ding!] in your Republican party that it is time for them all to put away the shrooms and accept that the president's birth certificate was all the proof required, and that they should stop embarrassing themselves.
Wait, you know, it says here you refused to say whether or not you believed the president is a natural born citizen. Congressman, what you should do is stop embarrassing yourself and take the Reynolds Wrap off your head. Congressman Bill “X-Files” Posey, today‘s worst person in the world!"

#1: Night one of Vendettamann's payback for last Monday's Talking Points Memo and Top Story segment on "The Factor," which featured a mocking of Bill's "cacophony of nonsense" line.
"After whining about how the left smears the right by besmirching reputations and tossing out a bunch of big words like gutter snipe and democracy, we thought we would devote part of this week to letting you get to know your top five Bill-O [Ding!] and Bernie Goldberg left wing smear merchants, the ones whose reputations they besmirched last week.
Our number one story, Janeane Garofalo, the fifth most powerful liberal in the media. That one of Mr. Goldberg's last list inspired a mad man in Tennessee to shoot up a church full of innocent people because he could not shoot the people on Mr. Goldberg's list did not give Mr. Goldberg pause for thought. Nothing seems to.
Thus playing Igor to O'Reilly, his five worst off-enders in the mainstream media are as follows: Number five, Miss Garofalo, number four, Bill Moyers, number three, DailyKos.com, number two, the evil “New York Times,” and number one, the totally irrelevant. MSNBC.
The two rocket scientists were briefly not unanimous about that fifth slot."

"If anyone knows their cacophony and their nonsense, it is him. Joining us now comedian, actress, political activist and fellow left wing smear merchant Janeane Garofalo. Good evening and congratulations.
JANEANE GAROFALO, COMEDIAN: Thank you, Keith. As you know, the machine likes to operate in a much more clandestine manner. But now that we have been exposed, I might as well discuss it. As you know, we meet alternate Wednesday inside the eye ... sharing it with the wider populous. ... I'm a little bit sorry that I'm just number five. I would have really liked to have been number two or even number one. Maybe next year.
OLBERMANN: You also noticed that we do, in fact, send out a dress similarly memo every day.
GAROFALO: Yes. We have pink on. I love casual Fridays the best. ...
OLBERMANN: Sadly, having been born in 1959, I just show up as I'm normally dressed, because every day is ‘50s day for me. I was wondering aloud last week if you were a wizard of some sort, or had magical powers and just hadn't informed us about this at the meeting. The fact that Goldberg named you as one of the leaders of the smear machine. Do you, in fact, have these powers? Rationalize or explain your position in this list.
GAROFALO: I do have magical powers. Again, I would prefer to keep them secret, much like the vampires. As you know, the Vampire Rights Amendment Act was passed in the Deep South recently. There is a documentary about it called “Tru Blood” on HBO. They like to operate secretly. I myself like to keep my powers under wraps, if you don‘t mind.
OLBERMANN: You are using one of them to annoy Bernard Goldberg.
That's just sort of practice, right.
GAROFALO: Yes, I like to call him Goldie.
    OLBERMANN: Goldie.
GAROFALO: Yes. He is absolutely right. I want to emphasize again the machine has been going and going. We used to been an advertising agency in the ‘70s called ...
OLBERMANN: All details about the machine aside, Bill-O [Ding!] noted to Bernie, this is the greatest assignment you could ever get, payback unlimited. Payback for what? The last time there was payback and Goldberg involved in it, and making lists of people, people wound up dead. There is a dark, dark side to stuff like this?
GAROFALO: Yes. There is. Going back to—if we are going to get serious about this, and I guess we are forced to when other kind of very damaged people respond to some of the right wingers' [Ding!] message; the reason they accuse the left of having a machine is because they themselves do. There really is a right wing [Ding!] smear machine in place. Whether it's all the regressive radio, and even some of the right wing [Ding!] churches, and then right wing [Ding!] candidates.
As you know, during the Bush administration, they used to invite some of the radio hosts to actually meet with candidates. And Grover Norquist has those meetings, where the talking points [Ding!] are created and handed out to all and sundry in the right wing [Ding!] machine. Unfortunately, they do have a base that listens to this. And because their life isn't working, they want to blame all the wrong people.
The right wing [Ding!] has a way of always having an enemy, whether it be immigrants or Arabs or brown skinned people, black skinned people, homosexuals, women. They all rally around an enemy, an other, that they can get mad at. Death does occur. This has happened in abortion clinics. It has happened, as you said, just recently. Unfortunately, it may happen again.
Guys like Bernie Goldberg, they don't care. It means nothing to them.
Dick Cheney going on those—was it “Meet the Press” on Sunday?
OLBERMANN: No, it was CNN with John King.
GAROFALO: John King? What does he care? What does it matter? He just keeps spreading fear, you know, claiming that we are less safe because of something Obama does, and claiming that the government wants to expand. All these kind of thing, unfortunately, a lot of the people in the right wing base are not the most intellectual people in the world, not the most savvy people in the world, and they are definitely quick to anger, and quick to blame other people.
It is a ridiculous thing. You know, I don't know what to say about it other than it is a very sad, sad thing, and it is part of the human nature of a personality type that tends to identify as Republican or conservative. It is an unfortunate part of our society. It is a scourge on our society.
OLBERMANN: It is, indeed. Janeane Garofalo, political activist, currently appearing in “24,” and the fifth ranked liberal in media. At least you get a plaque.
    GAROFALO: Thank you."

Another painful copying and pasting of the transcript is complete. It's also frustrating. Oralmann is openingly mocking Bernie and Bill. And he's doing so by throwing the culprits back in their faces.

    Thoughts, anyone?

I am really enjoying watching the Obama administration show how utterly incompetent they are in regards to this AIG bonus problem which has been known to the Treasury SINCE NOVEMBER! Why the sudden indignation and scramble to correct the multiple million dollar bonuses that were contracturally constructed and a known issue when the company was bailed out? Who is asleep at the wheel here in The White House?

If AIG had been allowed to go bankrupt, the bonuses would not have been paid. Now that they are being supported by tax money, their obligations must be met....they knew this in November, why the sudden anger and angst?

Oh yeah....polls show the problem....politicians reaspond to polls....HOPE AND CHANGE!

Again, the church of SNOBamessiah revival hour will overlook the facts in regards to how the bailout is being managed by Obama and the seven dwarves, fools and crooks.

Olbermann will continue to try to cover-up the truth and use distractions like Rush Limbaugh, some guy down in Florida and Darth Cheney....Boo!

    VERO POSSUMUS!

My pick for the number story tonight with creepy musto. unless he can get what's her name from the radio station.

Mike, what stands out to me is their preening themselves by pointing out their intellectual and moral superiority to those with a different philosophy. For some reason lately it seems to a background chorus from those on the left.

Thanks, as ever. It was a good read.

Geez Mike those transcripts are getting harder to read. That was less of a "payback" and just came off as proof Bernie was right.

When you make statements like "The right wing [Ding!] has a way of always having an enemy, whether it be immigrants or Arabs or brown skinned people, black skinned people, homosexuals, women. They all rally around an enemy, an other, that they can get mad at." and " All these kind of thing, unfortunately, a lot of the people in the right wing base are not the most intellectual people in the world, not the most savvy people in the world, and they are definitely quick to anger, and quick to blame other people.
It is a ridiculous thing. You know, I don't know what to say about it other than it is a very sad, sad thing, and it is part of the human nature of a personality type that tends to identify as Republican or conservative. It is an unfortunate part of our society. It is a scourge on our society."

Well you know, it kind of proves Bernie was right. Garofalo is a freak'n loon.

Great work once again Mike, as it makes it at least possible for me to get through their skunk. Even though I was only reading it instead of actually having to watch the two pus maggot's fawning over each other looking like Jeff Goldblum shedding his skin from "The Fly," it STILL was a hard read.

Nothing surprised me though, and it only proves, like Lafinman said, that Bernie was right on about her and him. That combo makes Sid and Nancy look like the epitomy of bliss and serenity.

They have the gonads to agree on what is the "Scourge on our society" as if the two of them have the answers for what ails us all.

The pompousness and overly sickening display of false pride in what they "claim" to believe in, is only topped by their utter cluelessness to what they're talking about.

They make it seem that the only "good American" is one who is black, Arab, immigrant, brown, homosexual, or a woman. The last I looked or heard (although this could be debated) neither one of them is any of the above, so like they said in their previous show "self loathing" can be a horrible thing.

Ugh! Imagining the two of them on at the same time reminds me of Divine. Just an over abundance of wasted flesh

Kos has a new BillO attack up: "BillO Talks Sexy". I'm predicting at least 2 segments out of it.

Blue blog source: Wednesday's potential guest himself. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/3/17/709664/-Bill-O#39;Reilly-talks-sexy

Apparently, Kos was on tonight. That just leaves Moyers, some NYT person, and an MSNBC colleague. And Keith has a BOR mini-vacation on his side. Laura Ingraham is filling in for the rest of the week. Hopefully, she'll continue the 8:00 ratings dominance in Bill's stead.

The Gregalogue I linked to earlier will be on tonight's "Red Eye."
Also, Brad Wilmouth at NewsBusters posted about the Garofalo interview.
    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brad-wilmouth/2009/03/17/msnbc-garofalo-paints-conservatives-angry-racists-who-inspire-murder
And Keith got a Garofalo bump in the ratings last night, but it wasn't enough to beat the eeevil O'Reilly.
    http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/the_scoreboard_monday_march_16_111636.asp

Could a Hannity or an O'Reilly ever say the sort of things that Olbermann routinely says (he recently called a gathering of Republicans a "coven") and not been excoriated in the press as being "hateful" in the that they label conservative talk radio hosts as hateful.

    Look at this:

GAROFALO: it’s part of the human nature of a personality type that tends to identify as Republican or conservative. And it’s an unfortunate part of our society. It’s a scourge on our society.

    OLBERMANN: It is, indeed.

Could any program on FNC, feature a guest who said something similar about a Democrat or used this sort of logic against a media critic (which Goldberg is) and not be excoriated by media analysts and critics as being one of the most hatefully extremist programs on air?

Anne Coulter can't get away with it.

    Why can Jenny Garofalo?

    Why can Keith Olbermann?

Well, the answer is obvious. The rank and file of the media is largely liberal and they see this as all in good fun....maybe a little over the top...but containing a point that needs to be made...etc...

It's not ABOUT them, and is therefore its innocuous to them.

From Republicans it would be a direly hateful on the order of Cheney death squads.... with Democrats it's just harmless posturing containing a kernel of truth.

NO REPUBLICAN in the world could talk as Garofalo and Olbermann talk and not be immediately dismissed as hateful partisan crackpots.

Media outlets bend over backwards to hire minorities. They believe that without them news coverage misses a perspective because a majority of straight white males are innately blinkered by their own experience and culturally moded outlook.

If anything backs this notion as being essentially correct, it's the fact that a program such as Countdown can exist without media critics and the media rank and file considering it a discrediting blot on MSNBC on the order of the Michael Savage fiasco.

Countdown is Exhibit A for the sort of tone deaf bias that comes from a overwhelming majority perspective, that the institution of journalism has explicitly set its self against for generations now.

But not in this way. Never in this way.

Goldberg, his message, the gravity to accorded to he and that message, are Exhibit B.

BTW--does Garofalo statement sound similar to one made on this board about Republicans and their cancerous mindset needing to be excised from the body politic?...

By Cecelia on March 18, 2009 9:21 AM

Yeah, it did strike me as similar. I was not surprised based on what I know of the intolerance of such ideologues.

It seems, according to Olbermann and Garofalo, as a "scourge," people who hold such beliefs are ONLY a source of pain and suffering for the rest and therefore hold no beneficial value....like a cancer.

Change the speakers, and their political beliefs, and this would be called hate speech that could lead true believers to get rid of the "scourge." Funny how that seems to be missed.....Keith and Janeane are not inciting hate crimes....Their motives are for the improvement of our society and excuses such implications.

And Cecelia, read that interview in the context of President Obama's spokesman saying the following in response to a request for comment on what Dick Cheney had to say about the new administration's policies:

"I guess Rush Limbaugh was busy, so they trotted out the next most popular member of the Republican cabal."

    ###
A "cabal." So, the minority political party in the country is a scourge and a cabal. This is not how democracy works....The alternative is not pleasant.

The majority has determined that totally delegitamizing the minority is not only beneficial politicially but moral. There is no way our republic will function if this is the plan.

    You two nailed it.

If I'm one of the two who nailed it, thanks very much, baby boy.

    Cee, wasn't that awful!

In turn why is the former VP going out and dissing the current administration in such a manner?

There are other ways to get his message out.

Until classless Bill Clinton came around, that was considered verboten.

Certainly, Bush 41 never engaged in that, and so far, neither has Bush 43.

    You're welcome.

I read a very interesting article over on HotAir about how Bush's tact is 180 degrees that of Cheney's and some speculation that this is yet another sign in their ongoing rift (the meat of the rift being the lack of pardon for Libby).

    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/03/18/more-evidence-of-a-bush-cheney-split/

    ###
The bomb-thrower/"rubber-necker on the interstate" devil on my left shoulder puts me in Cheney's camp, but you're right Cecelia, Bush is showing a lot more class in being encouraging towards Obama and staying above the partisanship.

The author at HotAir does make the point that former VP's are different than former Presidents but Cheney was particularly hard-hitting. There may be more to it all than we know.

Olbermann did not cover the difference between the two men last night....he simply dismissed Bush as a simpleton and his "silence" as an admission of his unpopularity....once again another simplistic and partisan analysis from the skilled host.

Olbermann's war crimes obsession is very fringy and I doubt Bush and his secret service detail are too concerned about being detained either in Canada or even The Hauge if he visits someday.

Vermont, USA may be a different matter, hoever. ;)

I would think so also, Cee. But The KO Gal Pals have quite different ideas.

    http://keitholbermann.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=19982

Just a few excerpts to give you the flavor of their delusions:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"OK now let's get serious. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_49

I love Jeneen Garofalo PDT_Love_14 , she is not only funny :happy buts she is one of the smartest people out there. :-k

And she hit the nail on the head tonight about how the 'Right Wing' operates and how they don't care who is hurt by their fear-mongering and hate-mongering."
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hey I got a question for you all about one story on last night's show. Do you all really think that the powers that be in that Canadian "Lawyers against the War" group would really detain Bush as a war criminal? Do you think they have that much power? At first it is funny, then I thought, how apropo for BUsh. But as I thought on it more, I became a little worried. I think it would be a disater for THIS administration if they were succesful even partly. Because how in the hell is the Obama administration suppose to react to something like that. I feel it is a no win situation. If they do nothing and let Canada prosecute him then that willl more than likely set off a firestorm of the crazy right wingers and boy oh boy, I can just hear Rush and Billo whining already. I really think this could cause some major damage. You all know as well as I do that these crazies are scary and could retaliate with all kinds of violence. But if Obama would step in and say hey, no you can't do that Canada, then he turns out to look like he is just like every other politician we ever knew, watching each others back. So I think, as funny as it is, it could potentially be a nightmare. What do you all think about this subject?"
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Another case of our country saying do as I say, not as I do. We can carry on whatever agenda we deem to be proper and just in the world, but another country can't do the same.........especially when it is against our country. Of course the crazies will come out. They are out already. I am so tired of worrying about them. It is like mental terrorism. I think that whatever happens, Obama will have a handle on it. If bush chooses to go, he should know the consequence. That is what we tell other countries all the time."
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is more. Cee, they have our number. I thought our being "mental terrorists" would go unnoticed.

If the names had been blocked out I would almost have thought it might be KO instead of Shuster. From News Busters:

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/scott-whitlock/2009/03/18/msnbcs-david-shuster-continues-obsess-over-rove-questions-manhood

No doubt this will sound familiar to many of us.

"Much of the segment was spent with Shuster again plowing through the details of the Valerie Plame leak case. Of course, he ignored that in fact it was Richard Armitage who leaked the CIA identity of Plame."

Perhaps the following Stewart rant will get him covered on the church of SNOBamessiah revival hour.....

"You know the veterans? The men and women who risk their lives defending our country? They’re about yay tall, wear green… sometimes tan. They’re this brave. Well, when they get injured, you know who foots the bill? You. The taxpayer. It’s incredibly… fair.

"That’s why it struck me as a little odd when I read that one of the money saving proposals from the Obama administration was to remove veterans with private insurance plans from the V.A. rolls. So I guess what the government is saying is that if you still need a little rehab after you got that leg blown off in Iraq, the government will cover you! Unless your wife as a little COBRA left over from her substitute teaching gig. In that case, you’re going to have to go with her and the whole deductible thing. Unless, of course, your spouse is in Congress, and then you can get their sweet, sweet government plan.

"I’ve got some other ideas they might want to try out to save a little money in the military. How about sponsored commendations? For your service, I offer you the Frito Lay Medal of Honor. Here’s another one… how about actual Navy seals? [A picture is shown of a Sea World seal with a sailor hat on.] People would totally pay to see that! Or how about the Arlington National Cemetery and Water Park?

"WHAT THE F*&K ARE YOU GUYS THINKING!!??? Veterans having to use their private insurance to pay for their combat related injuries? THAT CAN’T BE RIGHT."

    ###
Excellent conclusion....It IS wrong to have veterans use their private insurance to pay for their service related/combat related injuries....PERIOD. Obviously Barack Obama does not think it is wrong.

My guess is that Olbermann will not use such passionate tones to cover the immoral Obama administration trial balloon. He will, like a good member of the cult, excuse the President and even likely cover The One's NCAA bracket picks with glee and awe.....

The "if this was Bush?" question is also a pretty easy prediction.....he would have garnered a spiddle ridden SPECIAL COMMENT with words like, "greed," "Haliburton," "war crimes, "lies," "mercenaries," and the phrase, "DO YOU HAVE NO SHAME, SIR?"

    And of course, "RESIGN!"

I used to hate Stewart, as he constantly railed on the conservatives, Bush mostly, and never seemed to go after any libs. I thought this unfortunate too, because I felt when he stayed away from politics he was the funniest host of any of the talk shows. Not only funny, but seemed to have that natural ability to make all his guests feel like they were not on a talk show, and were just "hangin" with a bud.

The crop since the master left...JC...was thin to begin with, but I felt if he ever became an "equal opportunity" ranker that he would surpass them all with no trouble at all, and it looks like he is doing it now.

He's clicking on all cylinders now, and has made it much easier for me to watch him. Just a few jabs at the left was all I needed, and now if he opens up with both barrels no matter what party he's shooting at it shows me he is a true comedian and just enjoys his art.

Letterman and Leno have been trying for years to get that natural feeling going, but I never saw it, and don't believe his guests ever did either. Stewart always had it, and now that he's opened up his agenda there may be no catching him now.

They all rally around an enemy, an other, that they can get mad at. Death does occur. This has happened in abortion clinics." Janeane Garofalo...On the church of SNOBamessiah revival hour, AKA COUNTDOWN with KEITH OLBERMANN (3/17/09)

    ###
I just noticed this statement as I reread MikeC's excellent recap. I had to reread it several times to finally understand where Ms. Garofalo was going with this line of (if I can use the term loosely) reasoning.

Any issue taken by a "conservative" is only seen as a personal attack on individuals no matter what reason the conservative gives. Ms. Garofalo and Olbermann are basically saying that no matter the issue....abortion, terrorism, economic policy, scientific research, etc. the conservative always comes at it BECAUSE he/she hates someone because of their gender/race/religious beliefs/sexual orientation/etc. That is the grand conclusion and Garofalo and Olbermann later designate it as a "personality disorder."

So, as a conservative who believes human life and the need to respect it begins at conception only supports abortion clinic protests because women are my enemy and I need (because of some personality flaw) need that conflict to fulfill some base need. My belief in respecting nascent human life is simply an excuse to rationalize my hatred of women.

The usual defender of the left has been absent from this blog for several weeks....I wonder why? I would really like to hear his opinion regarding Garofalo's theory. I wonder what the logical, cool and self-proclaimed tolerant Barack Obama thinks of such conclusions? Garofalo, Olbermann and Obama have a common political foe in prolife advocates....I wonder if this marginalization of their position will be a continuing tactic of his administration? It seems that with the recent tactics dealing with Rush, Cramer, Cheney and Santelli, out-of-hand dismissal of political positions based on labels and prejudices is now all the rage now in "hope & change" Washington.

Defending a policy position, with rational argument and facts, is becoming passe. Simply call your adversary "right wing," "part of a cabal," or "personality flawed," and move on.

    VERO POSSUMUS!

    Thanks, Cee.
Bill O'Reilly brought up Sy Hersh's crazy theory in his weekly column:
    http://billoreilly.com/newslettercolumn?pid=25567
    Text below:
*The other day a left-wing reporter named Seymour Hersh went on MSNBC and said he had information, provided by the usual anonymous sources, that Dick Cheney was running an assassination squad out of the White House.
I have but one simple observation: If Cheney really had such a crew, Hersh would have been dead a long time ago and so would most everybody at MSNBC.
    Would they not?
In the months to come, we can expect all kinds of horror stories from the left about alleged Bush-Cheney atrocities. These will deflect attention from present day problems and provide liberal thinkers with the intense indignation they so desperately need. In addition, the bevy of Bush-Cheney sins will supply the media and individual opportunists with "product." So, in order to get ahead of this inevitable situation, I will now predict some future headlines.
    - Newsweek will report that Bernard Madoff has told unidentified friends that it was George W. Bush who actually forced him to develop the $65 billion Ponzi scheme that ruined thousands of people. Friends of Bernie say Madoff was ready to be an honest broker until Bush came to him in a dream and urged him to commit massive financial fraud. Also, Newsweek's "Periscope" feature hears that it was W. who told Jim Cramer to recommend Bear Stearns.
    - In his new book Squealing, Jose Canseco writes that he injected George W. Bush with steroids while W. was president of the Texas Rangers and again in the Oval Office immediately before the President met with Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Canseco dismisses claims that W.'s mountain bike regimen kept him toned and says the Iraq invasion was actually caused by "'roid rage."
    - The New York Times will run a page-one story saying that after the Iraqi shoe guy embarrassed Mr. Bush in Baghdad, the President, himself, waterboarded the man and kept him tied up in a cold room while looping excerpts from Wolf Blitzer's program at high sound levels. The Times, citing unidentified sources close to the footwear industry, will allege the shoe guy gave up bad information because torture never works.
    - Vanity Fair Magazine, in between pictures of Lindsay Lohan partying in Baja, will present a most startling scenario: It was Dick Cheney who contaminated peanut butter with E. coli because, according to anonymous sources speaking only to VF, the VP had "had it" with the kids.
    - Finally, Will Ferrell will star in a new movie called "Crawford Nights: The Ballad of Dickie/Georgie." In this film, directed by Oliver Stone, it will be purported that the real head of the Cali drug cartel was George W. Bush, with Dick Cheney as consigliore. The screenplay, written by Sean Penn and Jessica Alba, is being closely guarded, but word is that it will portray Cheney as the guy who provided Michael Phelps with the substance-filled bong.
So, it will likely be a busy 2009 for the Bush-Cheney team. No doubt they are the perfect stimulus package for the far left.*

Mike, I just came across this.

    Thanks, a great find.

    You're welcome, Grammie.
