Keith pulling out his framed diploma is one of the hurt-yourself-laughing-- funniest moments in tv history!! :D...Cecelia
Could very well have been the "jumping the shark" moment we've all been waiting for. Like I said, if somebody was to go at him daily like he does to everybody that he doesn't like, these type of "gems" from him would be commonplace and his show would be history.
Hit him at his weakest spot, his insecurities, and then the ape ruler can't help himself, as he's as easy to predict as a wind up monkey complete with the symbals.
You know what would've been really classic? Was if KO had brought up the diploma up backwards showing a barcode tag on the back of the frame. Haha. Of course if you're really wanting something to think of a conspiracy you can say that well, you didn't see an actual "close up" of said degree. Yes, you could see that it was his name to an extent, but...you didn't see what part of Cornell it was from, so the jury is still out on this Murrow wannabe.
But I agree with the others in saying this was a "jump the shark" moment. Hopefully this is now when the downslide of Countdown begins.
I was over at kos and searched to see if Olbermann has commented lately.....the result....
"I won my baseball fantasy league last year. And then I won my football fantasy league last year.
"I'm here. When I've got something new to say, I'll post or post-as-prelude to a piece. Otherwise, like many others, I just read and learn...
"But, since you asked, I will tonight be rechristening Comedian Rush Limbaugh. He has a new name after this show. I think you'll like it (and so as not to be accused of merely hyping the show, I'll post it here at 8:01 or whenever)."

What a Cornell man! HE WON HIS FANTASY LEAGUES! I wonder how he's doing with Dungeons & Dragons?
I love the build-up he gave to the nutroots regarding his humorous new term for Limbaugh...."Boss Limbaugh."
Is this a reference to the equally obese "Boss Tweed" or is there a more sinister implication to Rush's relationship to the new RNC chief, Mr. Steele, who is an African American?
I wonder if I should be angry about any racist implications of Olbermann's new argument about "Boss" Limbaugh?

I told this story way back when I first came on to olbermann watch, but I think it's a good one that bears repeating for the newer posters and says a lot about the ape ruler, and his preperation in regards to anything he does.
A good friend of mine was in a league I believe called the Yoo Hoo league (you remember this day, oh ape ruler?) where they had a baseball draft with all American league players who were to be drafted. Olbermann walks in, and when the first name is called out he says "I thought this was a National League draft?" When he's told it was an American League draft (with laughter I was told, as they couldn't believe he was serious), he gathers his papers without saying a word and walks out.
The freak never apologizes, just walks out and says nothing. Now for the un-informed about these fantasy leagues, the preperations involved is at a minimum of months, and the chaos it caused with losing this one owner after months of preperations for the other owners was systematic, as they all had to change their whole format after months of preps because of this one a-hole.
At the very best an apology was surely expected, and at the very worst it was one of the most inexcusable reactions to making a fool of oneself.
It makes me believe since he didn't even know what draft he was doing, along with his getting all his "news" tips from the daily kos, that those leagues he "won" that somebody else did all the work for him, and he "won" because of their work.
"I'd assume it's a Boss Hogg/'The Dukes of Hazzard' reference."

Whoa boy, MikeC, that could mean a potential new "Roscoe's chicken and waffles" kerfluffle....just like his conversation with Garafolo regarding Michael Steele, the incongruency of African American Republicans to their worldview, etc.
Olbermann better be careful how he throws around his "Boss Limbaugh" insult....it may result in a need to apologize.
On the subject of Olbermann padding his resume:
On several occasions, I've heard Keith mention he was doing reporting during the Watergate scandal, including some high profile interviews ( I forget who he says he interviewed). Pretty darn amazing, considering Keith was 14 years old in 1973.
I think the "Boss" reference is an attempt to paint the picture of Rush as the leader of the republican "political machine". As I'm sure you know, machine politics are often associated with corruption, etc and everyone must get the approval of the "boss" before they act. In Missouri, Tom Pendergast was known as "Boss Tom". He ran the corrupt democrat machine KCMO in the 1920s & 30s before being convicted of several felonies and sent to the federal pen.
I could be wrong, but it's all I can think of. Interestingly, I have really only heard of machine politics wing associated with dems- the Chicago/Daley machine is a present day example.

What's sad is after all the antics, lies and hypocrisy this diploma thing is his jump the shark moment.

What was up with the voice. My God, the man goes from bad to worse to worser to worst in front of our eyes.
Check this out. I can honestly say that I've never seen anything like it. This captures KO to a tee.

When I hear the "boss" reference it brings to mind paul neuman in "cool hand luke" " Shakin the tree, boss, shakin the tree".
You know, I never won my fantasy baseball league. Guess I should've went to an Ivy League school.
That was a funny blog, but I'm not praying for Olbermann. I mean seriously, we can't stand him here, why would we want to put up with him in eternity?
I didn't think of that, Cee. Wasn't Boss Hogg incompetent? If so, that's the reasoning behind Olbermoronn's latest Limbaugh insult.

Boss Tweed of Tammany Hall-The Democratic Party political machine in New York.
Controlled all Democratic New York state and city nominations from 1860-1870
Used illegal means to force election of his choice for New York governor, New York City mayor, and speaker of the assembly
Raised public indignation against graft and was convicted and sentenced to prison

It's not true either.
The Bush Administration put no impediments on privately funded research on embryonic stem cells.
