Olbermann on Leno Discusses American 'Insurance' Group?!?

Yep, Edward R Olbermann is really awesome when he's away from the teleprompter:

I feel sorry for KO's suit jacket. Dude, unbutton it, for the love of God.

Like anyone expected him to know what AIG stands for. BTW when does he ever talk about the economy?

The remainder of the appearance was just as poorly done by the "HERE'S MY NICELY FRAMED DIPLOMA TO PROVE IT!" Cornell graduate.

His simplistic response to Leno's question about Rush Limbaugh's opinion that the bonuses should be given was just as ignorant. The whole point of those like Rush is that this entire "populist" revolt by Washington politicians is simply a distraction to avoid dealing with more devastating items like Obama's mortage bailout proposals are as unfair to honest, hard-working Americans as the AIG bonuses, BUT in the BILLIONS, not millions. Rush is talking about a much more complicated and nuanced story of PERSPECTIVE and DISTRACTION while Leno and Olbermann wished to simply accept Obama's "be mad, real mad about the bonuses" silliness - the "sixth-grader" deep level of the story.

Also, Olbermann dismissed the VOLUNTARY giving back of the bonuses as a nonstarter....even implicating himself as one who would not give back legally received funds that were promised in a contract.....

This says more about Olbermann's character than some of those AIG execs who received the bonuses.....Why?....Because many are giving the money back!.....

"Some Will Pay Back AIG Bonuses"

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123743055512280701.html

Lastly, Olbermann's "truth-to-power" image is taking another hit because he refused to hold the democrats like Obama, Geitner and Dodd, accountable for these bonuses being paid....IT WAS ALLOWED FOR IN THE STIMULUS BILL....a bill not supported by House Republicans and few Senate Republicans....This is the democrats' problem, the ones with all the power, and Olbermann chose not to even mention these idiots.

I will only comment on Olbermann girth with three words......

    MAN THE HARPOONS!

    VERO POSSUMUS!

So, how many Olbermann Lies and how much Olbypocrisy and slovenly political hackery occurred during that interview?

Only on NBC could Olbermann be trotted out and treated like a 'normal' cable news guy. Leno, whom I generally like a lot, disapointed me. I hoped he'd ask Keith about his pushing the Vice President's "assassination squads" story. Maybe Leno could have asked him about GW Bush being allowed into Canada without being arrested. Leno even avoided the name of "Bill O'Reilly". You'd almost think Keith Olbermann was just a mainstream newsman instead of a pathological reactionary liberal with an enemies list.
Leno missed the opportunity to expose the real performer we know as Olbermann.

There might be fraud on the part of these bailed out companies?

    ###
Olbermann does what the left deems politically necessary....do not hold the DEMOCRAT controlled congress who authored the legislation and system to bailout these companies NOR the DEMOCRAT President who is constitutionally charged with overseeing the enactment of that same law accountable....Call it "criminal" and move on.....

Sorry, this does not match the reality. Treasury Secretary Geitner, as part of the group (he was in charge of the New York Fed then) that fashioned the bailout IN NOVEMBER, should have been aware and acted regarding the bonuses months ago, prior to them being paid out. He did not, so he should lose his job.

Accountability and competence is what the democrats promised in 2007....so far they are not providing either and Olbermann hypocritically ignores it.

Fraud? These were legal contracts easily accessable and KNOWN TO PEOPLE IN TREASURY! No one has shown evidence that someone at these companies tried to deceive anyone in taking the bailout money. Yet Olbermann cries, "Fraud."

    He's the pear shaped fraud!

    VERO POSSUMUS!

PS - I can't get enough of this YouTube clip.....pass it on.....

    Teleprompter In Chief

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GgXgnq7PD8

That's what so maddening. These "bonuses" are really just "salary," since they are mandated by contract. You call them bonuses and everyone gets all up in arms.

The bailout money is supposed to go to companies to do what with, exactly? I assume it's so they can survive, which means they have to pay their employees.

What this comes down to is the fact that the payments are going to the AIG division that is at the heart of its economic troubles. So, if you don't want the people in this division to be paid for doing their jobs, even if they did their jobs badly, you must really want these people to be out of work. So the basic outrage is that the troubled parts of AIG still exist.

Well, if we had never given the bailout money to AIG (and we shouldn't have), the company would be out of business anyway.

Rush is right. This is phony outrage to mask the true agenda of the left, which is to demonize capitalist institutions in order to soften up the populace to pave the way for socialism.

What's really sad is that there are good companies out there who did everything right but now may be at a competetive disadvantage because the government is bailing out the crappy companies. Are the good companies going to get a payback equal to the bailout for being good?

cjflan32: You asked the right question. Why did the "Lie-On King" talk only about AIG & a little Madoff?

I'll speculate just like Keith loves to do on his program.

I believe he chose the topic because it's one that interests most Americans and chose the basic questions Jay would ask so he could sound reasonable and knowledgable.

God knows if he presented himself to such a larger cross-section of Americans with his true stripes he'd come away a loser like he really is. And since he had no "teleprompter" he had to memorize answers in advance.

Vstol wrote the following at J$P an hour ago:
    http://tinyurl.com/cvyeck
    *Olbermann w/Leno:

Leno asked serious questions, KO responded with punch lines and calls for prosecutions.

The best example of selective outrage and Olbermann's role as an Obama Protecter was when Leno brought up the issue of money going to foreign banks. Leno's "Why did we have to bailout a German bank?" question brought the loudest round of applause from the studio audience.

KO attempted to make another joke, this time about "The spokesman for the Financial Ministy of Germany" having the same name as Keith, then totally ignores the question and reverts to the talking points, with the full finger jabbing for effect, "...but the AIG thing is particularly great because the group that screwed the company into the ground, these guys...are getting the bonuses, they're getting a million dollars each or more...."

Let's recap: Keith, the late-night talk show, unfunny lefty version of George Gobel blocks any Obama administration and congressional democrats responsibility for anything and steers all criticism back to the evil AIG executive bonuses, when the Obama administration and congressional democrats fully protected and insured those bonuses would be paid using language inserted very late into the stimulus bill, while adding a bonus to the attack on bonuses by (select 1, 2, or all from the following) exaggerating/misrepresenting/lying about the amounts of the individual bonuses.*

"The Fed yesterday committed to buy $1.5 trillion in assets, and all that we are talking about today is $146 million in bonuses for traders at AIG. I understand the politics and the optics of the situation but this is getting ridiculous. People need to get some perspective."

"Just to do the math, the bonuses are equivaent to .001% of just today's new government spending."

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0309/AIG_reality_check.html

    ###
This is what is called RATIONAL and LOGICAL.....perspective....the pols in Washington, mostly the democrats, but now some republicans, are losing it and prepared to lose what little respect they have left.

    CYA.....

this clip sums it up even better......

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/03/19/congressman-claims-sphinc_n_176932.html

    VERO POSSUMUS!

So, vstol answered my question perfectly.

Olby is just like the Messiah. None of them have a clue. I had lunch today with a "small businessman". He manufactures stuff. He has had to scale his business back from an annual run rate of $40M to something in the range of $12M to maybe $15M. He has banked for 20+ years with one of those banks who just wrote off another $1.8bn on bad real estate loans in Florida and Arizon. They are beating his brains in. Between losses that guys like him didn't cause and the hamstrings from the TARP money they are taking it out on their good long time customers.

Three other medium sized banks to a look at the deal. Despite his problems they liked the company and they can live with the risk. Two of them never took TARP and the third gave it back after about 30 days because it was so full of bullshit. All 3 have plenty of cash to lend and would like the deal. The problem is the other regulators. There are state regulators and even on the Federal level, who regulates and how they regulate is inconsistent with the TARP/Bailout process. The regulators are and have set new loan quality standards for them such that essentially they cannot lend to anyone who really needs the capital unless of course they probably don't really need the capital. While I told him long ago this is what would likely happen he went through the process anyway.

They are all quite stupid. They run the show but they have no clue about how the show really runs. I would not say that another party would understand it any better. Politicians and government people generally do not understand the interplay of things in the real world even when it is the world they created. It says more about the absurd idea that somehow government knows all and can fix all.

If one thinks Barney the poohjabber or Dodds understands any of this they would be highly mistaken. They only have to understand what happens in their Ivory Towers and their moment of soundbites.

Olbermann was visably short of breath all throughout the segment.

    He better watch it.

Also, his rolls of flub ban be seen, even with his suit jacket on.

He has really let himself go.

Times must be good for our Manhattan leftist. He's been eating out too much.

Dammit! I posted my daily Olbermann rant under last nights thread. I'll have to cut & paste later.

By irushbabyAuthor Profile Page on March 19, 2009 2:55 PM

After the CPAC speech, I recall the Wolfeman making several remarks regarding how sweaty and heavy Rush looked on TV. Olby did not join in the overweight comments, but he didn't have a problem with giving Richard at least 4 nights of free reign to do so. Olby also agreed with Wolfes assessment that because Rush was heavy breathing, fat and/or sweaty everyone should just dismiss Rush's comments and message.

Given recent tv appearances by heavy breathing, overweight and/or sweating democrats (see footnote), I wonder if we'll get 4 more nights of Countdown providing Wolfe free reign to make the same, oh he's fat, sweaty etc. and thus unimportant remarks. Something tells me that Wolfe will experience selective amnesia tonight when he comes on to give his "analysis" tonight.

Ft.Nt.- exhibit A- a sweat drenched, heavy breathing, babbling, bumbling Obama during his town hall -see any YouTube
exhibit B- an overweight, heavy breathing, sweaty Olbermann on Leno- video was up on johnnydollar.us

    Wait.....he calls Limbaugh fat?

Yeah, Olbermann looks like he's going to bust out of that suit. I think Gibson needs to change that nickname, if he keeps getting bigger.

I forgive Jay for his mistake.

what a tub of goo! rolls upon rolls. he looked like he was gonna roll of the chair. what a fatass!

Why was the video removed? Who complained?

Some likely Olbermann hypocrisy to look out for.....

Remember Sarah Palin's turkey execution video, and how our wonderful Murrow played the entire thing with derision and gasps?

A monumental gaffe on Palin's part....right? Olbermann milked it for all it is worth for his audience of loving and tolerant leftists.

So, let us compare Olbermann's attitude of glee and sarcasm with the Alaska's governor gaffe to his ways in handling President Obama's gaffe regarding putting down the achievements of The Special Special Olympics in the friendly, kind and softball environ of THE TONIGHT SHOW.

And as an added bonus, let us see how well spoken the "trailer trash fool" Sarah Palin is regarding the special needs children The Special Olymics serve:
