This is the recappers' comment thread for tonight's Hour of Spin. Post your analysis of the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann right here. Be an Olbermann Watch blogger--without all the muss and fuss. Comments are open!
Worst person was a congressman from Texas that said Co2 should not be regulated because it is a natural substance and is essential to life.
Olberdink then mocked him by saying, "What, you can't regulate a natural substance?" (notice he ignores the 'essential to life' thing)
"What about cocaine and anthrax Mr. Senator? - WPITW!"
Any high school kid would know that cocaine is MANUFACTURED through the paste of the coco leaf. Him and his writers were to stupid to pick marijuana?
Hannity [coward - ding!] was the bronze for saying that Bush inherited a deficit and the negative impact from 9/11. Of course Odormann mocked him on the inheritance thing but cripes is he really this frickin' petty? Sad and pathetic. Actually Bush did inherit it on his 2nd term ;)
#3 Brave and courageous Elizabeth Edwards, who should of derailed her husband's campaign for the good of the nation, took blistering questions from the modern day Murrow.
"Has the narrowing of the book surprised you?"
"Is acceptance one of the keys to getting up again?"
"Speaking of health care, how is your health?" - Olby makes Larry King look sharp.
Lizzy also said her hubby's campaign is STILL very important because he talked both republicans and democrats into national healthcare and global warming. You know, the 2 things that will destroy this country. I want to puke but I'm saving it for this exchange:
Olby: You don't owe anyone an explanation after such a series of crises. Why do you want to talk to just SOME people one on one? (light the "ACCOLADES" sign in the studio)
Lizzy: I just want to explain to people I respect, like you.
OK, now I puked.
how can anyone respect this sick f&&&?
I mean not even liberals respect Olby. They see him as a useful idiot. Not a friend or a ally, but just the villiage idiot!
Someone needs to tell KO, that Sean has been saying that line for years, and KO just noticed that? LOL! WTF! how can anyone be so STUPID!
YAhhooo Lakers won!
I was alive back in 2000, and there was a recession. Internet bubble and rising gas prices caused it, and the election lengthened it. So really Olberdouche is arguing facts, but than again ask any south paw and we've been in a recession for 8 years.
For those who care to make a comment regarding Keith Olbermann on the FIRE KEITH OLBERMANN site, here's the address:
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/fire-keith-olbermann
For those who haven't seen the site, it has some great comments. For those who HAVE seen it before..... nevermind.
Olbermann calls our coutry's humane and wonderfully run detention center at GITMO a gulag.
Sure it is, and the professional soldiers doing their honorable duty there are then, by definition, no better than the thugs who ran the communist prisons. Nice. That makes our current President who is allowing it to remain open Joe Stalin....Good logic.
Olbermann is an anti-America radical leftist. The above is another example of many.
I checked last nights videos....no mention of this statement by the left's leader in The US Senate....
"QUESTION: On funding the closing of Guantanamo Bay.
"REID: Well, the decision to close Guantanamo was a right one.
I agree with President Bush. I agree with John McCain . I agree with Barack Obama . Guantanamo makes us less save…
"QUESTION: If the United States — if the United States thinks that these people should be held, why shouldn’t they be held in the United States? Why shouldn’t the U.S. take those risks, the attendant risk of holding them, since it’s the one that says they should be held?
"REID: I think there’s a general feeling, as I’ve already said, that the American people, and certainly the Senate, overwhelmingly doesn’t want terrorists to be released in the United States. And I think we’re going to stick with that.
"QUESTION: What about in imprisoned in the United States?
"REID: If you’re… (CROSSTALK) If people are — if terrorists are released in the United States, part of what we don’t want is them be put in prisons in the United States. We don’t want them around the United States…
"QUESTION: No one’s talking about releasing them. We’re talking about putting them in prison somewhere in the United States.
"REID: Can’t put them in prison unless you release them.
"QUESTION: Sir, are you going to clarify that a little bit? I mean (OFF-MIKE).
"REID: I can’t — I can’t — I can’t make it any more clear than the statement I have given to you. We will never allow terrorists to be released in the United States."

Oh boy....The left's political class cannot make a decision in regards to our national security because they have made a purely POLITICALLY calculated promise to close GITMO by 2010....The only alternative will be to house these dangerous terrorists in our facilities made for our own citizens who have (and deserve) all the rights specified under The US Constitution while the terrorists who cut off people's heads, gas girls for trying to learn and stone women for adultery are ushered into that system of justice to make people like Olbermann FEEL better. What priorities.
Nevermind logic, safety and fairness.
So, Obama has about 7 months to close GITMO to fulfill his promise back in 2007....Tough talk from a guy who had never done a tough thing in his life....And it seems this Presidency is going the same way....the tough decisions are just left alone, excused or covered in such PR jabber that the uninformed or unthinking citizen simply laps it up.....
Look at the deficit to see another example of how Obama and the rest of the left's ruling class is not willing to do the tough things our country needs right now.....
Promises, promises.
And who does Olbermann choose to cover on COUNTDOWN....the MINORITY, the out-of-power group who has no responsibility for the ultimate outcome of these tough issues now....Truth to power?....nope...Olbermann chooses to ignore or apologize for the inept behavior of Pelosi, Obama and Reid. Quality journalism!
VERO POSSUMUS! WTF?
Liberal Democrats and their spokespeople like Olberboyy, are like little children. Juveniles.
You don't give a 5 year old a gun, because he might harm himself and others. You don't give Democrats power for the same reason, and what is taking place today with Reid, Pelosi and Obama, is the very same thing as giving a 5 year old child a gun.
Anderson Cooper at least makes a stand up guy apology for his "teabagging" comments. From Mediabistro:
"Calling it a "stupid, silly, one-line aside," he touched on the attention it received. "I think it's an incorrect statement to say I was, in any way, trying to disparage legitimate protests," said Cooper. "I don't think it's my job to disparage, or encourage, which oddly other networks seemed to be doing. Protest is the great right of all Americans, and it's not my job in any way to make fun of people or disparage what they're doing."
Cooper said he regretted making the comment. "If people took offense to that and felt that I was disparaging their legitimate right to protest, and what they were doing, then that is something I truly regret, because I don't believe in doing that," he said. "Having this discussion just takes away from the real story."
Olbermoron tries to be the story instead of telling the story. Olbermoron injects his personality in to his show. That tells us that he is a small, mean, biitter, and ugly person. There is no doubt about that since he puts all of himself in to his show.
The news out of California is very important both politically and in regards to the future prosperity of our nation....It will be ignored by Olbermann tonight because it is a political loser for the radical anti-America left....especially for Obama.
The public has rejected tax increases AND cuts in what they believe are vital government entitlement programs. The democrats have fostered this attitude now and voila....the impossible combination of a unsustainable entitlement attitude while demanding someone else pay for it is coming back the bite the leftist elite...Obama's economic policies are based on this contradiction....he has promised no tax increases on people making less than $250K/year yet he is going to pay for a new healthcare entitlement program available to all Americans.
How? Watch that debt grow for our children to pay....nice.
VERO POSSUMUS! WTF?
Cocaine is natural? Let's debate
Bag of rocks and Keith's brain will equate
Cocaine's manufactured
Keith's logic is fractured
He's not happy unless he can hate
Afotia's analogy is excellent. Although I think you're obsession with attempting to persuade those here at OlbermannWatch to sign your petition is a bit repetitive and growing tiresome, you hit the nail on the head with your comments of the dangers of giving Liberals power...
As for Countdown last night, again, I was unable to watch (Thank God), and it appears we are continuing down the same format as each show, every day, of every week:
5: Something about Torture...
4: Something about Bush...
3: A conservative said something conservative, NOT IN OBAMA's AMERICA...
2: Something we can recall in the future to make us appear fair...
1: Something about Torture...
Add Wolfe and a slew of other liberal bloggers and political analysts, and you got yourself a recipe for a good ole fashioned Countdown! Now add a couple of viewers who still have Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers on thier cars and baby carriages, and NBC survives for another day...
Note: If I make more than a few posts for a single day, I will follow up with corrections to my grammar. I know there are some of us out there that sh*t a kitten every time someone else uses "you're" instead of "your", so I'll do my best to appease the grammatically superior.
"When you have Harry Reid chiming in and saying nowhere, no how, nobody, you got a problem. And I must say that Obama deserves it. He is the last prisoner on Gitmo right now, and he incarcerated himself. ... Walking all the way back on the promise of Guantanamo is going to be a hell of a thing for him to swallow. It will be a huge embarrassment" Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer on "Special Report," FNC 5/19/09
###
He's right.
GITMO was a crude weapon Olbermann and his dishonest ilk used back during the Bush administration and even yesterday he called it a gulag while attacking A REPUBLICAN!
How intellectually dishonest can Olbermann become. Obama and the democrats have it their power to close GITMO by 2010 just like it was promised, yet?....And Olbermann attacks the minority political party.
Olbermann is a joke of a journalist.
Ryder20 I do think proper grammar and spelling is very important mainly because it separates you from the idiots. The one time I went on the Daily Kos they were spelling "moron" and "fascist" wrong. People like that just come off as really stupid to their enemies (for lack of a better term) and it doesn't help their point.
As for the respect comment, Edwards is trying to promote a book so a little kissing up doesn't hurt. Even John Ziegler had to kiss up a little when he was promoting Media Malpractice--then promptly started skewering the majority of his hosts.
I agree CJ, and when you're in a hurry, or make a common mistake when typing, one, its understandable, and two it just drives me nuts when someone who is on the opposing end of the argument tells me I'm an idiot for making a common mistake like that, and uses it as a tangent to slightly scale away from the issue at hand...
So, simply put, I'll do my best, and then follow up with corrections when and if needed.
This Gitmo thing, is laughable. Obama is supposed to be the smartest President in the history of the United States, right? He's supposed to be on wavelengths far exceeding the normal American, right? And after hearing over and over about how bright and intelligent he is, he can't even recognize the fact that if we close a military detention center specifically designed to keep its residents out of the United States, that we have to have something to do with them, when the facility closes. Who didn't see this coming? The auto mechanic who has a poster of Sarah Palin hanging next to the water fountain in his body shop is smart enough to figure these things out, but Olbermann and Obama, the elite members of current politics (according to them of course) didn't have the foresight to see these this coming?
This is politics, nothing more. One of his staff members fresh of an emotional water slide from the recent victory gathered up all the demands from the powerfully influential left and handed them over to his newly elected boss and leader of the free world.
Item #1: Destroy and tarnish the image of George W. Bush and the Republican party.
Note: Do so in whatever fashion necessary, whatever means available, and do so, NOW!
Not to address the economy, not to talk about the dangerous situations in the Middle East, Take out Gitmo and all it stands for. Obama, as simple minded as he is, agreed. Politics folks, placing personal vendettas and important political issues before ones country and it's foundation.
Now, just as we, and all of the truly intelligent Conservatives in the United States (excluding Barrack H. Obama), have predicted, the President's decision to place his political interest ahead of that of the country, is now backfiring, and instead of being able to focus on important issues, they are left cleaning up the mess they created, in the first week of his taking the office of President of the United States of America.
For me, personally, maybe it's worth it. Olbermann's mop is in desperate need of wringing, but his conservative bucket is full. Only one place to the dirty Obama water, and Obama isn't helping...
If you are a fan of Glen Beck, and I'm not, you might be interested in his appearance on "The View" going on right now. He is dumbstruck by the gang, having been called a " lying sack of dog doo doo" by Whoopie Goldberg and B. Walters. The problem for Beck is, they proved that he actually is. This appearance is not going well for old Glen. This interview is going to make news, so buckle up! He doesn't handle himself well like Bill O'Reilly does.
I like Glenn and yes I'm worried that 2000 viewers and Olbermann will have distain for him.
Why hasn't Obly talked about how the administration is going to pay for health care, more specifically, the TAX to pay for health care. According to the administration, a few "revenue raising" options are to tax soft drinks, beer, wine and hard liquor.
The Senate Finance Committee has released 40 pages of "revenue raising" (notice they do not use the word TAX) options. The soft drink tax would apply to drinks sweetened with sugar, high-fructose corn syrup or other high-calorie sweeteners. That includes iced tea and noncarbonated drinks such as punch and sports drinks. But diet drinks would not be taxed.
Hmmm...I guess the Obama administration thinks that only people who make over $250,000 a year drink soft drinks and alcoholic beverages???
Will Obly dare to broach this subject or will he continue to focus on Bush/Cheney and "torture"? My guess is that we will hear about the latter for the next few months.
Brad Olbermann probably doesn't understand the nuances of Healthcare and the cost of said service.
Both of my senators just voted for bringing the Gitmo detainees here to the U.S. I'm officially ashamed to live in RI.
Good point Brad,
When Obama was preaching change, I didn't know it was just going to be renaming everything. Gaffs are now General Misunderstandings. An increase in taxes is now revenue raising, Terrorism is now Man Made Disasters. EIT's are now Torture. And don't forget that there will be a new term for Global Warming that a marketing firm is currently working on since Global Climate Change is just a scarier way of saying a Change in Seasons.
I like Glenn, too, even though I don't watch his show regularly. Keith will definitely mock him for getting "schooled [Ding!]" by the "The View" ladies, especially since Media Matters has posted video.
And that was just part one. Part two was more civil and Glenn's independent views (critical of Democrats *and* Republicans) came out.
Don't forgot the renaming for "Going Green" is "Payback to GE & its NBC for the Election"
Never mind. I'm watching and there were one or two more ugly moments.
All I can say is that is why I watch "The Price is Right" instead.
"I have been anointed to this position by members of the drive-by media, and of course, the Obama White House. I am resigning as the titular head of the Republican Party."
###
Very nice response to Colin Powell's contention that a new Republican Party needs to emerge....Let's try Powell's way and see if it actually means wins for (R)'s.....
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/05/20/limbaugh_resigns_as_titular_head_of_gop.html
"The version of the party that [Powell is] waiting to emerge is not the Reagan wing of the party. Does Powell have the pulse of the Republican Party, folks? He's for more spending. He's for higher taxes. He's against raising the social issues. He's for affirmative action. He's for amnesty for illegals. He endorsed Obama.
"And now there's an agenda -- an emerging agenda -- that he's waiting for for the Republican Party? The only thing emerging here is Colin Powell's ego. Colin Powell represents the stale, the old, the worn-out GOP that never won anything. The party of Gerald Ford, Nelson Rockefeller, Bill Scranton, Arnold Schwarzenegger and those types of people. Has anybody heard Colin Powell say a single word against Obama's radicalism -- or Pelosi or Reid, for that matter? Maybe he has but his fawning media sure hasn't reported if he has said it."

Ouch. Intellectual honesty is lacking in many, including the once great general who now seems more concerned about how the popularity polls roll than what is best for our economy and our national security.
Oh well, it will all shake out in the end. It is the democrats ball of wax now...any failure, like we saw after The Great Society, will easily convince truly honest people and change will happen....the damage done in the mean time is acceptable.....hopefully.
Oh my, this whole Beck interview is clearly going to make Countdown. Just the thought, of this smug liberal Olbermann wallowing in anything he can classify as Beck getting his ass handed to him, makes me literally sick to my stomach. I'd rather watch Dharma and Greg...
With today's events in the congress, and Obama cowardly sending out his spokesman to say closing GITMO was a "hasty decision," I'll simply repost what I posted back on 1/13/09:
By cee on January 13, 2009 12:58 PM
Olbermann's slight of hand about Obama closing GITMO.....He will issue "an order asking for a solution."
Wow. So, let me get this straight. The new President will order it closed without knowing how it will be accomplished?
Vice President Cheney, an adult unlike Keith and many on the left, had a very good point today.....
"'These are al Qaeda members,' Mr. Cheney said. 'These are people that we captured on the battlefield. These are folks whose main objective in life is to kill Americans.' Cheney said the remaining detainees 'are unlawful combatants, terrorists, and by definition, their objective is to achieve their political goals by killing as many civilians as possible. They don't abide by the laws of war.'
"Mr. Cheney noted that 'there's never yet been a congressman come forward and volunteer to take 250 al Qaeda members in his district ... So then the question is, where are you going to put them? And you've got to sort that all out before you close Guantanamo.'"

So Obama has to keep his campaign promise to the left, quickly. But already his apologists in the press (the church of SNOBamessiah) are excusing PR announcements to replace action.
Will difficult questions be asked of the new adminstration with the difficult "What if's?" It is looking like Keith Olbermann is prepared to
give his guy a lot more slack on the rope than he was ever prepared to give Bush.
VERO POSSUMUS!
###
I was right then, as was former VP Cheney....and now the mea culpa today...but not from Obama himself, but from Gibbs....they admitted it was a "hasty decision."
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/05/20/white_house_closing_gitmo_a_hasty_decision_96593.html
Will this be covered by the Obama/Pelosi apologist, Keith Olbermann, tonight on COUNTDOWN?
We shall see.
VERO POSSUMUS! WTF?
Drew Carey
What about Drew, syvyn? I've been a fan of him since "The Drew Carey Show," more so with "Whose Line," and now with "The Price is Right."
Getting "schooled" on The View (if you have common sense and are fair minded) is like watching a wounded animal getting attacked by a pack of Hyena's. That's not getting schooled, as it's all in the order of things. I'd be more impressed if any of these 4 beasts actually went to beauty school and came out looking like a female. Waa Waa sounds like Daffy Duck, Whoopie is on the verge of a sex change, Behar looks like she drives nails into her hands before every show, and my 48" screen isn't big enough to see half of Shepherd.
Beck should have said absolutely nothing, and the talk the next day would have been about how 4 savage beasts attacked an innocent bystander. They sure do a lot for the secular's out there. They must be so proud! It's amazing to me that Bill does hold his own with these neaderthal's, but I guess only the king of this sick and hyped up jungle in which we live in would be able to handle their moronic attacks.
If "they" are the voice of this generation's women, then nobody will ever have to worry about nuclear war, germ warfare, global warming, etc. because the biggest threat to mankind will be that nobody will want to pro-create anymore. Yuck!
I watched part of the Gibbs press briefing. When asked about where the detainees would be placed, Gibbs said he didn't know but also said that most of the detainees were "PICKED UP" in Afghanistan. Picked up? How about CAPTURED ON THE BATTLE FIELD IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR. He makes the detainees sound like a regular person picked up on a bench warrant.
I watched both vids, and Beck did his best. But really I'm surprised it went that smooth. Here he is trying to lay out his beliefs and he gets Sarah Palin yelled in his ear. Which was ashame because Joy was behaving herself until that point, than she brings up Africa is country, WTF did that have to do with what Glenn was trying to explain? Clearly The View is just a shouting match and has no control, but I imagine this is why people watch it, that and the multiple "Elizabeth got pwned" clips that show up on YouTube.
I find it odd they butchered him for telling a story wrong and wasted an entire segment on it, while in the second segment they mock him when he's talking despite not knowing anything about him.
But I don't think Beck got stirred up. He was acting just like he does on Beck and Call on the Factor. He has a weird way of handling himself, but that's just him. But he didn't do his show today so I wonder if this will add to the drama, or he was just busy which he already is.
For sure KO will have this, I mean why not. He'll probably play the part where Barbara asks him ' don't you check your facts " and it will be another moment in hypocrisy from Bathtub Boy, who always checks his links...I mean facts.
Holy Tuesday ratings numbers:
Mr. Ed is in the 400K, Rachel is stuck in the 800K and Keithee couldn't break the 1 mil mark.
Jeez, what will their numbers be like at the end of the week?
Wait. I'm confused.
I just saw a 6-minute Beck clip from hotair, but I still don't know what it was that he "lied" about.
So he walked to Babs instead of she luring him. Huh? That happens all the time in storytelling. It was inconsequential to the point. It also doesn't seem to be why Whoopi got her undies in a bunch.
I'm assuming she was upset that he claimed Amtrak saved seats for them. He may not be in lock step with Amtrak corporate, but nobody seemed to deny . Why attack him? Why not simply set the record straight in a "gentlemanly" sort of way while he's in their presence? Is this how liberal women have evolved? It was not exactly the ladies' shining moment.
All in all, I thought Beck handled himself pretty well considering he agreed to step into the den belonging to at least three cackling, liberal females who fiercely disagree with his opinions.
(As a matter of full disclosure: I like Beck. A little conspiratorial for my tastes, but refreshing in his honesty and OPINIONS.)
Missing sentence:
He may not be in lock step with Amtrak corporate, but nobody seemed to deny that the ladies were placed in seats that Beck kept his eyes on.
Pinochiolberman will be in what I call "didy soiling" mode tonight ,but again only 3 people will watch him (mainly the three drunk rats he has as pets)
personally i cant wait till he self-distructs and his 25 year old galpal will have to be the breadwinner ....
Quick prediction: why the 90-6 vote against funding the Gitmo closing is the GOP's fault.
Wednesday Countdown.
GIT NO, and Montana might be the solution.
Beck will be in Worlds Worse for doing something KO does all the time.
WTF on Boss Limbaugh, oh I guess KO finally pwn3d him, I hope the word pwn3d is used.
Wait and see wait and see'ers.
Let's provide some facts about Obama's flip-flopping that totally exposes Olbermann's hypocrisy and cowardice when it comes to his promise of, "speaking turth to power."
"Barack Obama inherited a set of national-security policies that he rejected during the campaign but now embraces as president. This is a stunning and welcome about-face.
"For example, President Obama kept George W. Bush's military tribunals for terror detainees after calling them an 'enormous failure' and a 'legal black hole.' His campaign claimed last summer that 'court systems . . . are capable of convicting terrorists.' Upon entering office, he found out they aren't.
"He insisted in an interview with NBC in 2007 that Congress mandate 'consequences' for 'a failure to meet various benchmarks and milestones' on aid to Iraq. Earlier this month he fought off legislatively mandated benchmarks in the $97 billion funding bill for Iraq and Afghanistan.
"Mr. Obama agreed on April 23 to American Civil Liberties Union demands to release investigative photos of detainee abuse. Now's he reversed himself. Pentagon officials apparently convinced him that releasing the photos would increase the risk to U.S. troops and civilian personnel.
"Throughout his presidential campaign, Mr. Obama excoriated Mr. Bush's counterinsurgency strategy in Iraq, insisting it could not succeed. Earlier this year, facing increasing violence in Afghanistan, Mr. Obama rejected warnings of a 'quagmire' and ordered more troops to that country. He isn't calling it a 'surge' but that's what it is. He is applying in Afghanistan the counterinsurgency strategy Mr. Bush used in Iraq.
As a candidate, Mr. Obama promised to end the Iraq war by withdrawing all troops by March 2009. As president, he set a slower pace of drawdown. He has also said he will leave as many as 50,000 Americans troops there.
"These reversals are both praiseworthy and evidence that, when it comes to national security, being briefed on terror threats as president is a lot different than placating MoveOn.org and Code Pink activists as a candidate. The realities of governing trump the realities of campaigning."
[...]
"Mr. Obama's appealing campaign images turned out to have been fleeting. He ran hard to the left on national security to win the nomination, only to discover the campaign commitments he made were shallow and at odds with America's security interests."
[...]
"Mr. Obama either had very little grasp of what governing would involve or, if he did, he used words meant to mislead the public. Neither option is particularly encouraging. America now has a president quite different from the person who advertised himself for the job last year. Over time, those things can catch up to a politician."

So true. Mr. Rove is quite clear on the broken promises that Olbermann chooses to ignore or blame on the out-of-power Republican Party.
The starkness in reality based opinion is quite clear here.
VERO POSSUMUS! WTF?
