TVNewser's Steve Krakauer, whom Olby has claimed is "in Fox's pocket," may have given Keith source material for WPitW. If that happens, it would be another Great Moment in Olbypocrisy.
Ooopsie...Keithee....your Thurdsay numbers dropped to exactly one million. Following Madcow's lead, I see. Good boy.
1 million is pretty bad for a night when Olbermann is on right (compared to Shuster)?
To be fair everyone's #'s look down. But 2.9 million is way better than 1 million.
Just mentioned on "The Factor": Dana Perino is now a Fox News Contributor. Welcome aboard. :)
OMG! what a HACK! Yes, KO Miss Pelosi is totaly being set up the right wing nuts? LOL! Where is the outradge! Instead he uses an entire segmeant defending Pelosi over water boarding! this is making my head spinning! this seagement shows why KO is a joke. Only REPUBLICANS TORTURE, right KO? What a tool! what a FOOL! what A hACK!
This "guy" has the nerve and hypocrisy to call anyone racist (WPITW segment on Obama receiving Honorary degree from ND) when he just had Garofalo on his "show" calling Americans "redneck racists". Did he disagree with her? No. Did he say that is not true? No. He sat there with a bloated smile on his orange face agreeing with every vile word coming out of her sewer. What a f-ing HACK.
Did Mr. self-absorbed really just speculate on whether or not he would be mentioned at the WH Press Corp. dinner? I- I- I- me-me-me!!!!!! Way to go Olby!
David Feherty is my HERO (WPITW). Of course Olby ripped that one off from Media Matters.
I like David, too, and Gary McCord. Blue blog source: Media Matters. What's the matter, Keithy? Don't like CBS Sports people?
He didn't tout Dan Hicks, Johnny Miller, etc. and wave them in David's face, did he, Brad?
But Media Matters will get what they want. David will probably be suspended for two weeks and issue an apology.
#5A: Cheney! The Wolffe Man.
#5B: Cheney! Alteration.
#4: Defending Nancy Pelosi. Torture! [Ding!] Jonathan Landay from McClatchy, whose previous "Countdown" appearance made a recent Reality Check segment.
#3: Caldera resigns over Air Force One flyover flap. Margaret Carlson, the bad Carlson.
Perpetually Bushed: Pakistan declares war on the Taliban. Isn't that a good thing?
#2: The Media Matters Minute. Thankfully, Krakauer's piece didn't qualify, but besides Feherty, these people did:
Worse was Bill Donohue. Blue blog source: Media Matters. Who needs video when you can just read a transcript in a gruff voice? Edward R. Olbermann called Donohue a "mean-spirited, bigoted blowhard."
Worser was Alan "Over-here-Alan-The-viewer-is-the-one-in-the-middle" Keyes, who I don't have any use for myself. Ha-ha, Obama beat Keyes in the 2004 Senate Race! Ha-ha!
Worst was the aforementioned "soon-to-be-ex-CBS Sports golf analyst" David Feherty. With that ringing endorsement, I stand by my prediction of a two-week suspension and an apology. No Northern Irish accent was used for David. Keith played it straight and launched his trademark theatrical faux outrage. This story has not been mentioned on The Golf Channel website, the PGA Tour website, the CBS Sports golf page or main page, the Sports Illustrated website, the SI-run Golf.com, ESPN.com, or ESPN's golf website. But Media Matters brings it up and BAM! Rip 'n Read brings it up. And I searched "david feherty" and "'david feherty' reid" at all sites. I found nothing. "Manages to threaten by proxy..." "Abusive free speech..." CBS should fire him! Secret Service! Boy, Pelosi and Reid are proud to have you on their side. Great Thanks.
#1: The White House Correspondents' Dinner! Now, we like it! Will I, Keith Olbermann, be mentioned? Olbermann's Brain.
I did something wrong with the code at the end, but you get the idea. And I've rethought my position: If the Media Matters/Olbermann story doesn't gather steam, David's fine. If it does, keep in mind my initial prediction.
mmmmmmmDanishPerinogrrrrrrrrr
Republicans are totally messing with Nancy Pelosi and I have the exclusive. Write this down Keith.
The Republicans stole Grover Cleveland's Time Machine from the Democrats stockpile of historic technology and took a drugged Nancy Pelosi ( who was under going extreme botox injections at the time ) and sent her back to 2002 so she would sit in that briefing that she originally missed.
But because you cannot go forward in time once you visit the past, they killed the Nancy Pelosi of that time and the one brought from the future to frame her took her place. But not before they wiped her memory and replaced it with visions of sugar plums and gum drops in a perfect utopia so her hatred for Bush would skyrocket from that point on.
In the end Pelosi is actually 7 years older than she really is.
Sadly this isn't as far fetched as Countdown regular exclusives which are few and far between.
Sorry, she's married.
I was responding to CD.
Olby defends Nancy by using the rational.."if she were guilty then why is she the one calling for an investigation". Well Keith, that's because she knows damn well the Obama Administration is not going forward with any investigation and it makes her look innocent. C'mon, everyone knows she knew what was going on. You'd have to be a complete moron (and she's very, very close) not to know. But Olby will defend her to the end.
When Olby stated he was going to make David Feherty WPITH, I googled his name and found the story under Media Matters. I read the story and then laughed at the comments from the readers such as:
"if you gave any U.S. soldier" - What an amazing SLANDER of hundreds of thousands of his fellow citizens. ***Hmmm, no mention of Garofalo slandering hundreds of thousands of her fellow citizens at the Tea Party protests while KO giggled and went along with "her"...Hypocrisy at it's finest.***
Now I see where Olby gets it. It was the first time I visited this site and it was definitely the last. While the comments were so hypocritical that they made me laugh, the site is just mentally deranged.
One point I've not seen anyone make yet, is why the Democrats, during the Bush Administration attempted on three different occasions attempted to ban, or make illegal, waterboarding. Of course, about they only thing they were smart enough to know, is that they didn't have enough votes to pass, or if it made it to the President's desk, he would simply veto it.
Why isn't Keith (or anyone for that matter) asking the Democrats, in particular, Pelosi, why they aren't trying to pass that bill now?
Obviously, the Libs are doing everything they can to smear Bush's legacy, and make this "torture" debate a media circus. And of course, if they were to make it illegal now, then they would be recognizing that waterboarding under the Bush Administration was legal at the time it was performed. But, like most of their failed actions, they quietly dismiss that these types of things ever happened.
I'd say very POSSUMUS, but I don't know what the f*ck that means, somebody please advise...
Apparently, it's "Yes We Can" in latin.
I apologize I missed the show, so I can't comment directly on some of the banter between Olbermann and his revolving posse of liberal columnists and commentators. I appreciate you all giving these brief summaries of what went down on the worst hour of television. I did, however catch a segment of an O'reilly late night asking his audience to vote on the worst show ever.
If you're thinking what I'm thinking, maybe we can get him to finally mention Countdown directly. I know precisely why he has yet to do it, but if he's going to, this would be a good opportunity. Am I asking to much, or am I being a racist douchnozzle?
He won't mention "Countdown." I voted for the worst show ever a few weeks ago, which you can type in. My choice was "Jackass." I really had to think that over. "Family Guy" isn't too bad, and some I think "Factor" viewers like broadcast network certain reality shows, talent competitions, dramas, and sitcoms. But we'll find out what the fifth worst, fourth worst, third worst, second worst, and worst shows are in two weeks. Meanwhile, here are the five best shows. And here are two segments from Thursday: the Talking Points Memo and Part 2 of the Top Story segment. (The guest for Part 1 was Sarah Baxter of "The Sunday Times" of London. There isn't video posted on FOXNews.com for that.)
I watched some of the "let's defend Nancy Pelosi from the facts" segment on COUNTDOWN...It's nice to see the "journalist" hold back the demogoguery (and information) when it comes to his fellow travelers...What ethics!
Keith Olbermann failed to mention one important aspect of the memos that contradicts what Pelosi's lawyered statement contained a few weeks ago....
Let's recall what she CAREFULLY said:
"We were not -- I repeat -- were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used. What they did tell us is that they had . . . the Office of Legal Counsel opinions [and] that they could be used, but not that they would."
Ok, that is what Olbermann said was not contradicted so far in the CIA memos detailing what was actually discussed in those meetings.
Let's now see what one of the memos said....
For the September 4, 2002 meeting, the CIA's summary of the discussion reads: "Briefing on EITs including use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background on authorities, and a description of the particular EITs that had been employed."
So, once again, Olbermann lied and misinformed his audience. What a shame. Also, Porter Goss has stated without any contradiction, that what Pelosi recalled was a bunch of lies.
I will leave it to much better writers to give anyone, who is clear-thinking and wants the truth about the hypocrite Pelosi and her fellow democrats, the real conclusion about all this....
"So much for the canard that the Bush Administration didn't keep Congress informed. But Congressional Democrats are being equally disingenuous when they pretend they could do nothing about what they were hearing from the CIA. Members could, and sometimes did, object to proposed CIA actions and could stop them in their tracks.
"More importantly, Congress had the power of the purse. Pete Hoekstra, the House Committee's current ranking member, tells us there was 'pretty bipartisan support for the authorization bills and the funding bills,' at least until the issue blew wide in the pages of the press. Latter-day opponents of the interrogation techniques, he adds, 'never used a tool that was available to them if they wanted to stop them.'
"We suspect a last line of Democratic defense will be that the Members privately objected to the practices and made their concerns known to the CIA. That seems to be the case with Ms. Harman, who wrote the CIA just days after she was first briefed saying the interrogation practices raised 'profound policy questions' and that she was 'concerned about whether these have been as rigorously examined as the legal questions.' Ironically, Ms. Harman now finds herself a target on the left for the unrelated AIPAC non-scandal.
"If there were other Members who objected strenuously to the techniques at the time, let's see their letters. Otherwise, perhaps the CIA should release whatever notes they kept of the briefings. Our guess is that's one pile of memos Speaker Pelosi & Co. aren't especially eager to declassify."

President Obama, like Keith Olbermann, is responsible for making this issue a partisan witch hunt and now many Americans do not trust such hacks in regards to being sincere with this important issue. I like that result because it was ALWAYS a partisan issue for the radical left and an attempt to gain personal political advantage....JUST LIKE THEIR FALSE OPPOSITION TO THE IRAQ WAR!....Remember my argument right here at OW....IF the anti-America left's political elite (Pelosi, Obama, Reid, etc) really wanted an end to the Iraq War...THEY SHOULD HAVE CUT THE FUNDING....Congress has that power for such checks and balances as they did with the CIA's program for EIT....ACTIONS not words now 7 years later, are the TRUE indication of belief and conviction.
Bush, Cheney, and many others stand by their DIFFICULT decisions to protect freedom and lives even now, under attack, while cowards like Obama, Pelosi, Reid and Olbermann use demogouery, lies and excuses to CYA. Our country is in real trouble as these are the types of people now in total control.
Olbermann uses COUNTDOWN to defend the speaker in her cowardly actions back in 2002....SHAME!
VERO POSSUMUS!
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/20/the-great-seal-of-obamaland/
Another segment of COUNTDOWN was used by Olbermann to defend another hack pol.....The President.
Let us all remember that late Friday afternoon personnel/document dumps are business as usual in Washington.
What did the administration do in regards to the scare force one flyover fiasco....not a "hope and changy" thing....they acted like the typical cynical Washington pols candidate Obama campaigned against.
Also, was the administration really living up to Obama's promise to be transparent?
At first, they stated the picture was classified and would not be released. Olbermann never reported this fact and thank goodness real journalists cited the obvious hypocrisy and forced Obama to release the $300K photo!
Also, the internal investigation that seemed to satisfy the curiosity of Olbermann last night did not answer some important questions.....
What was DoD or FAA involvement?
The report says "initial planning began in March 2009 or earlier" without specifying who exactly initiated the planning and why. Who initiated this fiasco? Was it a staffer closer to Obama? Was it Obama himself?
Lastly, Obama chose Mr. Caldera with a "good work Brownie" type endorcement of him....Olbermann seems to ignore that judgement call by the one. Oh well, talking truth to power is no longer Olbermann's mission....Instead his mission is to be an apologist for the radical left power structure.
So again, a COUNTDOWN segment is full of half-truths, spin and apologies for members of the church of SNOBamessiah. Keith Olbermann is not an ethical or honest person.
VERO POSSUMUS!

Olby stalked Rebecca Lobo
That's because she kept saying "no"
She was obtaining
An order restraining
Fifty yards where Keith couldn't go
Didn't Olberwomann talk about someone taking Hilary Clinton "into a back room and only having one person come out"? Thus saying that someone should beat her to death.
KO wasn't fired, nor did the Secret Service visit him, but he's asking that David Feherty be fired- or arrested by the Secret Service.
I believe this qualifies for a Moment of Olbypocrisy?
cee,
Regarding Pelosi. I bet Odormann drops this story into the mysterious magical drain never to be seen again. My schadenfreude meter that goes to 10 is about 15 today!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/08/AR2009050803967_pf.html
Oh man, SB_Mich, I wish that was on youtube.
Q,
It is (at 3 minute mark):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TxjplGs5YM&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fvideo%2Egoogle%2Ecom%2Fvideosearch%3Fq%3Dolbermann%2Bonly%2Bone%2Bcomes%2Bout%26hl%3Den%26emb%3D0%26aq%3Df&feature=player_embedded
Yeah, I think that qualifies, SB.
I was hoping last night's At Your Beck & Call segment would be posted on FOXNews.com, but it hasn't been. The crazy interview with the ACORN guy, and what followed it, came up. The assessment was 180 degrees from OlbyPlanet. There, "[Scott] Levenson, frankly, beat the *crap* out of Beck. In sane world, "you beat that guy up."
I meant to type a close quotation mark after "out of Beck."
Beck said the guy from ACORN was hitting on his female assistant when he was told to leave the studio. Then he called the woman the next day and asked her out on a date. Sounds very Olbyesque to me.
when it comes down to it last nights Pelsoi defense story was the last nail in whatever was left of KO argument that he and MSNBC are neither ledt of right, just whats wright and wrong. BS this man has been doing what atleast two stories about water boarding every night, saying how evil it is..blah blah blah..last night proved he can careless about the issues, its all about politics for him. Soon you will be below 1,000,000 ever night, then 900,000 in a mouth two then 800,000 by years end..,its over you lying fatass creep!
Im going to say this I have no problen with left wingers having their voice heard, I would never want to shut someone up that I disagree with ever. What I do object to is when you get people with politcal agendas that will no come clean and just admit what their poltical leaning are tilted too. Rush,Laura, Hanity, all the conservative radio people have NO problem saying they are conservative and proud of it. At least they are up front and not trying to trick people or make them beleive they are some how "moderates." Why is there this need by left wingers to hide who they are? are they umbarrassed? NO they want to trick people into thinking they represent the middle of the road people. Its not us that is to the extreme its those wacky right wing facists, and notice how there are only right wing nuts and never left wing nuts on MSNBC? ANyone ever heard of Cynithia Mckenny. Rev right, Pres Obama before he ran for Pres! LOL! Hell look at the every democrate member of the California State Assembley..that is where most of the wack jobs congresspeople come from..like Maxine Waters..oh there is another one..
Thanks for letting me rant! (=
Here is the guest list for tonight's White House Correspondents' Dinner. NBC is bringing a boatload of people to the dinner:
"Colin Firth, Jimmy Fallon and Mariska Hargitay to Mike Myers and William H. Macy. Jason Bateman, Natasha Bedingfeld [I can't stand her music. -MC], Connie Britton, Warren Buffett, Kyle Chandler, John Cusack, Ari Emanuel, Dr. Zeke Emanuel [Rahm Emanuel's brothers], Colin Firth, Whoopi Goldberg, Mariska Hargitay, Rep. Jane Harmon [D-CA], Felicity Huffman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jim Jones [cabinet member], Sen. Amy Klobuchar [D-MN, Al Franken's soon-to-be statemate], Denis Leary, [Rep.] John Lewis [D-GA], William H. Macy, Cheryl Mills, Mike Myers, B.J. Novak, Gov. Ed Rendell [D-PA], Wilbur Ross. Jeff Zucker, Steve Capus and Phil Griffin will attend, along with high-profile talent: Brian Williams, David Gregory, Al Roker, Ann Curry, Natalie Morales, Hoda Kotb, Amy Robach, Andrea Mitchell, Chuck Todd, Savannah Guthrie, Luke Russert, Chris Matthews, ***Keith Olbermann***, Ed Schultz, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinkski, Norah O’Donnell, David Shuster, Contessa Brewer, Carlos Watson, Tamron Hall, Jim Cramer, Maria Bartiromo and Erin Burnett."
The FNC guest list is much smaller: "Chace Crawford, Todd Palin, Matthew Modine, Greta Van Susteren, *Bill O’Reilly*, Glenn Beck, Bret Baier and Chris Wallace."
This means Keith and his Olbsession will be in the same room. :(
Oh, the Olbermann Lies that will be told on Monday night.
Dear Readers,
Let us assume that with the latest analogy said by nomorekeith "...was the last nail" etc, and I'll finish it with "in the coffin." Unfortunately the last nail put into a coffin of the one known as "The Prince of Darkness" is about as useful as shooting a pea shooter at a Rhino. The one known as "olbermann" simply will not be done with by simple means, as the undead can go on for as long as he wants to.
Ever heard these analogies before: "that is the last straw for him", "his show has a few more months of life left," "I never thought he could go any lower," I thought he was bad, but last night's show topped them all," "he has jumped the shark with last night's show," "his ratings are at its lowest, and soon he will be gone," "I predict he will be gone by 2009," etc. which brings us back to "that was the last nail in the..." and yet he goes on.
No my fellow haters of evil and lies, this blood thirsty creature will be around as long as he wants to be unless there is someone strong enough, and wise enough to end his evil ways. Someone who is clever enough to take that wooden stake and drive it through his heart when he least expects it.
Bill O'Reilly may be the Van Helsing of this overlong present day horror drama, but he can't do it alone when the undead one is helped by many Renfield's, namely the producers of the king vampire's show, and also the lack of interest by the media who either refuse to believe he exists or are too dumb to believe that his actions are harmful enough to do something about it.
In the meantime his killing of innocent reputations will continue until the light (must be daylight) is clearly shown on him for what he truly is: a modern day vampire who will stop at nothing to take as many innocents as he can, as his blood lust can never be satisfied. The undead cannot be slayed, unless there is someone other than Van Helsing who believes in the undead.
Bran Stoker
Well I will go further, KO is running our of victims to suck their blood. that is why he won't give up on the Bush years, It was his main source of "blood" it gone and he is dying slowly..thank GOD! He is a real wack job, SICKO!
oH and to Mike C, I bet KO will come up with some excuse not to go..maybe he will say he is coming down with swine flew? the main has no balls he will never face people, he is a coward! And if someone dose comfront him, he will through Shuster in the path while he makes a get away. I bet Joe is just looking foward to having dinner with KO!
I hope the cameras are rolling tonight. I want to see which of the two actual "backs up and moves away from the other"
My money's on Keithee backing away......if he shows at all.
Of course he'll show up at the Correspondant's Dinner. He mentioned that NBC had 17 tables booked already and since he's the "de facto head" of NBC, he'll be there.
The 2nd reason he'll be there is to get photos of those celebrities there and tell everyone that they are his friends.
Wouldn't it be great if Todd Palin kicked his ass? (wow, that's a great visual)
I doubt it, SB. He probably has bodyguards.
I believe it's on CSpan.
Yes CountDung, good follow up journalism today puts Keith Olbermann's excuses for his political friends in the democrat party in a very bad light.....
"A top aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attended a CIA briefing in early 2003 in which it was made clear that waterboarding and other harsh techniques were being used in the interrogation of an alleged al-Qaeda operative, according to documents the CIA released to Congress on Thursday.
"Pelosi has insisted that she was not directly briefed by Bush administration officials that the practice was being actively employed. But Michael Sheehy, a top Pelosi aide, was present for a classified briefing that included Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.), then the ranking minority member of the House intelligence committee, at which agency officials discussed the use of waterboarding on terrorism suspect Abu Zubaida.
"A Democratic source acknowledged yesterday that it is almost certain that Pelosi would have learned about the use of waterboarding from Sheehy. Pelosi herself acknowledged in a December 2007 statement that she was aware that Harman had learned of the waterboarding and had objected in a letter to the CIA’s top counsel.
[...]
"[Peter] Hoekstra, who requested the history of agency briefings of members of Congress, is also seeking notes made by the CIA during each briefing, documents that he said last week include 'a very precise accounting of the substance of each briefing.' He said those memos would detail 'not only the specific information provided, but also the degree of bipartisan consensus that existed with respect to the programs in question.'
"In a letter to Hoekstra, CIA Director Leon Panetta said the classified memos describing what was said at each briefing would be available at CIA headquarters for review by congressional staff, according to an agency official."

That COUNTDOWN segment is sure looking like a democrat shill only looking to insulate a major player of the power structure in Washington instead of an Edward R. Murrow determined to find the truth.
Today's Joe McCarthy, Nancy Pelosi, has some help in Keith Olbermann!
What else should be expected out of NBC NEWS now-a-days.
I originally recorded the WHCD on DVR and watched it on delay, but then I found out festivities weren't starting until 9:40. So, forget it. I wasn't going to like it anyway. It's just going to be ideological/political red meat, grandstanding, and statement-making. I have no doubt that will be especially true for Wanda Sykes. I think I have a pretty good idea of what she thinks of Carrie Prejean.
MSNBC is drooling all over Obama at the White House Dinner right now (10:30 pm EST).
I bet KO is hiting up some of the clebs to go on countdown. I bet it will go something like this; "hey buddy I know you hate FNC, they are kicking my ass in the ratings, we can't let Bill'o win so please come on my show PLEASE! I will never put you on WPINW even if you become a conservative" PLEASEEEE
Of course LardAss Olbermann was mentioned at the dinner and was shown on TV. He made some yippie skippy face for everyone. Sykes suggested KO waterboard Hannity. Olby will dedicate Mondays entire show to his 2 second mention in this roast.
Overall I thought the roast was pretty bad. It was mostly tired old attacks on republicans. "palin thinks abstence is pulling out at the last second" "Rush Limbaugh was the 20th highjacker on 9-11 but was too strung out on oxycontin" "dick cheney is evil" "hannity is a wuss". yada yada. Mostly just more angry liberal hate speech, no real humor.
reading the NBC guest list, it seems that Mariska Hargitay is so bad ass, she's there twice!
Ha ha.
I hope she isn't too far leftie. I simply adore her.
Did someone really make those jokes about Palin and Limbaugh? Palin is one thing but making 9/11 jokes is insulting and unacceptable behavior.
CJFLAN32, it's seems the left has crossed that threshold. I'm sure that will be covered at FNC, but will be buried by the MSM.
Re; post about the jokes..did she really makes that off color joke in front of the Pres and 1st lady? Isn't that kind ...urrrrr..in poor taste? Can they get a good a-list cleb with some class to host this event? Im sure Ko with is toliet middle school sence of humor just love it.
Look who got a job at the Weather Channel. See Mike Bettes May 8th blog entry to read about the "Tur-nado Chaser".
http://www.weather.com/blog/weather/
The same Weather Channel now owned by NBC. The same Weather Channel that furloughed lots of people, along with the Weather Plus people from MSNBC. Sounds like she's an
on the road" reporter.
It's official: Keith Olbermann has a hand in all things NBC Universal. It's good to be the girlfriend of the king, isn't it?
Irush, that affirmed my decision to avoid the WHCD. I could sense what I called "ideological/political red meat, grandstanding, and statement-making" miles away, and I was right.
Jokes from comedians whose show lasted six episodes are always funny.
Don't get your feathers ruffled about Olbermann's underage girlfriend getting a job. People help their friends out all the time.
What do you mean?
Drudgereport has a link up to the Sykes/Limbaugh remarks.
MIke C, I doubt it's a coincidence the gf got a job with NBC Universal but cj's right, people use connections all the time to get jobs. It's interesting that it's a position that involves a lot of travel.
I find it insulting when KO is outaged over Bush's economy but yet manages to almost double his salary while others are losing their jobs at the same company, if news blogs are true. If his gf took one of those lost jobs that adds insult to injury.

This is one bizarro site - I only pushed submit once. Sorry about the repeat posts.
Well, I'll be! Little Katy Tur is presenting a taped package about tornados on the Weather Channel. I just tuned in to get today's weather and their is Olby's main teen-aged squeeze interviewing storm chasers. LOL.
Yeah, I guess I shouldn't be complaining. The weekly Barack and a Hard Place segment on "The O'Reilly Factor" features a liberal brother-in-law, Alan Colmes, and a conservative sister-in-law, Monica Crowley. Also, I'm trying to use connections to get a broadcasting job myself. But still, it's the 25-year-younger girlfriend of Keith Olbermann, a woman who's three years younger than *me*. I go through this every time someone around my age dates, gets engaged to, or is married to, a man much older than me. I won't cite examples because I know a Google search will link me to the names I cite.
I was replying to ktt. I'm glad I didn't have TWC on at that moment, Philly.
Here are two NewsBusters posts about the WHCD:
Warner Todd Huston - ABC Radio News Break: Sykes Slams Oba...Oh, I Mean Cheney
Noel Sheppard - Sykes Hopes Limbaugh's Kidneys Fail and Olbermann Waterboards Hannity
Also, Sheppard posted about Sir Joe Klein's appearance on "Reliable Sources. Discussing Dame Wanda Sykes at the WHCD, Klein took a dig at Rush Limbaugh. Amanda Carpenter and Rachel Sklar made up the rest of the panel. Oop, two against one...and Howard Kurtz might make three, but I don't know.
The reason for the monikers is it seems people that attack eeevil conservatives, Republicans, and News Corp are knighted and sainted by the media and left-leaning circles. And if they aren't knighted and sainted, then they're heroes and heroines that "frankly, beat the *crap* out of" people I, and we, consider to be the good guys.
I saw the yippy skippy face. Torturemann was so happy to be mentioned and have the camera on him. How can we not agree with Sheppard's last paragraph of his WHCD recap?: "So this is the picture of a more united and tolerant America? I don't know about you, but I've never felt more isolated."
I forgot to mention the Sojourner Truth remark that Sykes made. It was as bad as the Limbaugh death wish. Again, I admit that I am not big on liberals but the outright hatred in their "jokes" is disturbing to me. I just don't see the same angry bitter true hatred coming from the conservative side. I don't think I am alone in my perception of things.
Irushbaby it's all part of that vast "right wing conspiracy" created by the far left. Liberals bring up the hate speech and the accusations (example: "You know what, you hate black people!") and claim they got it from the GOP and other like-minded people. The worst part is the Republicans take it. If they stood up for themselves they wouldn't be in as bad a situation as they are now. But to the Dems credit, they know how to play the media. They could turn "chocolate chip ice cream" into a homophobic slur.
Hmmm. Bush books Colbert for his WHCD; gets mercilessly skewered.
Obama books Wanda Sykes for *his* WHCD.....Bush gets mercilessly skewered.
Who wants to bet which stories the Pinstriped Putz will be talking about on Monday's COUNTDOWN? And I mean 1 through 5, with a pit stop to bash Palin for bowing out?
Thank God for Somerby's DAILY HOWLER, though, who'll be sure to hold Keef's feet to the fire for dumbing down/piling on -as per usual - come Tuesday.
cjflan32- The problem with the race comments is that you cannot respond in any meaningful fashion. It's the same as the "When did you stop beating your wife" situation. Nothing you say in response can take the sting out of the initial allegation.
Irush my point is you stand your ground. Like when John McCain said "That one." If it were me and a reporter (or anyone) claimed I was being racist I'd embarrass them to the Nth degree. "Explain how I was being racist? No, I asked to explain how I, cjflan32, was being racist."
The media can be embarrassed too, not just politicians.
I don't think I made my point clear. When you go Michael Richards on the crowd then no, you have no defense, you're done. But when the media picks up tiny things and twists them the way they want it, you have to take the fight to them.
Obviously you can cut and edit stuff however you want but it's up to people to get up and see the full picture themselves. You don't help yourself by sitting around and apologizing for a month.
There's a good example of what I'm talking about in Ann Coulter's new book (before MikeH jumps on me I'm not a Coulter fan but she's an excellent author) that I can share at a later time if interested.
I agree with you cjf, but from a political standpoint it is unfortunately better to duck and cover when it comes to race stuff. This is especially true for anyone who is not a democrat b/c a majority of minorities are in fact democrats. Race is a nuclear bomb of an issue in the US. It is the ONLY sure fire way to absolutely destroy your opponents chances and ensure their career is finished. The longer you can get them to engage the topic, the more likely it is that they will "slip" on the issue. It sucks, but it is reality. Someday race will no longer be the be all end all trump card, the sooner the better.
It's time for this week's Fox Haters Week in Review!
I do agree with an earlier comment in this thread. Might as well not get too worked up about when his ratings will be the death of him. My guess is he can go a lot lower and still be viable to that network. News is the cheapest product to put on. Especially when you rip and read like he does. No reporters other than leveraging those who are already on the payroll anyway. You just catch them wherever they are at.
What will kill him in the end is his character (more importantly the lack thereof) his ego, his hatred, his vindictiveness, his, etc., etc., etc. Slowly but surely you see him get much worse. More out of control. If we do our job here and take him to task on every lie, deceit, etc. it will help. At the end he will implode. You cannot work the edges and push the envelope as he does without going over or outside at some point. When he does the need for his departure will be undeniable.
It takes a lot of patience to wait out someone like him. But as time passes he will listen even less to those who are charged with keeping his lid on to some degree. When the hearing stops completely, the lid will flip. Then it will be party time for us.
Olbermann's and Maddow's ratings decline shows their editorial choices, which are only based on protecting the powerful leftist political class, have consequences.
Many people were willing to get their information from MSNBC while Bush held power because they believed his policies were hurting them. Olbermann and Maddow pounded on Bush and that worked. Now, it is obvious their pounding on Bush was not because they were doing their civic duty to question the power structure. With their obvious switch to excusing, ignoring or lying about the problems, mistakes and hypocrisy of the Obama administration and the huge democrat party power structure that has total control of the nation, clear-thinking people no longer tune in. Objectivity is what real news programs give and neither MSNBC program, touted as such, do that honestly.
It seems GE and NBC NEWS is satisfied with what they have in their political coverage and THAT says a lot about their motives.
The hypocrisy here is that the left claims FNC is a mouthpiece for the Republican Party while they are more than happy to see GE run a network simply to make them attractive to government officals doling out stimulus money. Secondly, MSNBC has abandoned any journalistic ethic in this transaction while FNC continues to behave within those standards, clearly presenting commentators versus reporters. Anyone who feels NBC NEWS is acting with the best interest of the American people in mind is a fool. Anyone who feels FNC is not clear in when they are reporting news or offering commentary have simply swallowed the pablum of the very same radical leftist propaganda that offers an assessment like NBC NEWS is a place of journalistic purity.
Olbermann is a corrosive and indolent actor in a scheme that is basically in action for others' money and power.
Proof?....Watch and see if he follows up on Nancy Pelosi's worsening situation tonight....She lied and it is obvious by the reporting of real journalists at The Washington Post that she does NOT deserve the coverage she had been getting from Olbermann except that his agenda is not to find out truth....it is to protect certain ideologues from the truth. She is currently The House Speaker, third in line to be chief executive, and has publically claimed no knowledge of EIT's that she now condemns as torture. Protecting her from the truth shows only one motivation...curry favor with her and her political allies. That is a serious and dangerous behavior for anyone who claims the journalistic mantle in our democracy....especially someone as self-rightous as to imply he is this era's Edward R. Murrow.
I predict Olbermann will choose to cover typical leftist pablum tonight...Dick Cheney v. Colin Powell, Sarah Palin v. Bill Bennett, the WHCD (which was nothing more than another example of leftist hypocrisy and hate speech)....and perhaps some new "information" about Bush era "torture" that only has indignation for anyone right of Senator Ben Nelson (D). Notice the majority of the stories have NO impact on the power structure currently imposing great changes on our society with little to no oversight...The majority of what Olbermann chooses to cover is simply the talking points of POLITICAL operatives of the radical left with an agenda well thought out and continuing. That is not what a real journalist would choose to cover.
Oh well, no one ever comes by to OW to defend Olbermann anymore so it seems I am speaking to the converted. However, his ratings show those who used to think he was doing a good job in questioning the powerful and elite have decided to go elsewhere to be informed.
Better late than never.
I also agree that he probably will not revisit the Pelosi story again but I could be wrong. He did his "part" by covering the story once so if anyone accuses him of being biased he can fall back on his lame attempt to appear unbiased. If, by some miracle, Pelsoi gets caught in her lie (which she will never admit) KO will return to his bath tub until the story blows over.
David Feherty has apologized for his joke. From the AP:
"CBS Sports golf analyst David Feherty apologized Sunday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for a morbid joke that went bad in a Dallas magazine.
Feherty, one of the most popular golf analysts for his sharp wit and self-deprecating humor, was among five Dallas residents who wrote for "D Magazine" on former President George W. Bush moving to Dallas."
The over-the-line passage was quoted and the article continued from there:
"Feherty, a former Ryder Cup player who grew up in Northern Ireland, has gone to Iraq over Thanksgiving the past two years to visit with U.S. troops, and he created a foundation to help wounded soldiers.
"This passage was a metaphor meant to describe how American troops felt about our 43rd president," Feherty said in a statement. "In retrospect, it was inappropriate and unacceptable, and has clearly insulted Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, and for that, I apologize. As for our troops, they know I will continue to do as much as I can for them both at home and abroad."
Feherty has lived in Dallas the past dozen years. Along with working for CBS Sports, he writes a monthly column for Golf magazine and has written four books, the last one titled, "An Idiot for All Season."
CBS Sports distanced itself from Feherty's writing, saying it was "an unacceptable attempt at humor and is not in any way condoned, endorsed or approved" by the network. The PGA Tour also criticized him for an attempt at humor that "went over the line."
CBS is not broadcasting The Players Championship this week. The network resumes its PGA Tour coverage next week in San Antonio with the Valero Texas Open."
Hopefully, this puts that flap to bed for good. Keith may bring the apology up in WPitW, but we'll see. I hope we can just move on from here and David can get back to business in San Antonio on Thursday.
FOXNews.com has written about Wanda Sykes' crude Limbaugh jokes at the WHCD. Feherty's line came up:
"Some critics said there was a double standard employed for conservative and liberal jokesters, pointing out that golf announcer David Feherty apologized over the weekend for his column in which he joked about U.S. troops wanting to kill House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Feherty's line drew heavy attention from the liberal group Media Matters and earned him a "worst person in the world" dubbing by MSNBC's Keith Olbermann.
[Tim] Graham [of NewsBusters] said the relatively low-key coverage of Sykes' joke in mainstream media underscores the "slanted take on what's hateful and what's not."
"When a conservative says it, it's an utter outrage. And when a liberal says it, it's a knee-slapper," he said."
And Tim is right.
"If at this late date, any television network had of its own accord showed that much videotape, and that much graphic videotape of 9/11, and I speak as somebody who lost a few friends there, it, we, would be rightly eviscerated at all quarters, perhaps by the Republican Party itself, for exploiting the memories of the dead and perhaps even for trying to evoke that pain again. If you reacted to that videotape the way I did, I apologize. It is a subject of great pain for many of us still and was probably not appropriate to be shown."
###
That was Olbermann's reaction to a tribute video shown at the RNC this past summer.
What was Olbermann's reaction to 9/11 as a punchline in a cheap comedienne's stand-up routine, as somebody who lost a few friends there?
What will Olbermann's coverage on COUNTDOWN be tonight over the joke, as somebody who lost a few friends there?....Will there be rightous indignation? Will there even be muted disagreement after-the-fact like that of Obama's spokesman:
"I think there are a lot of topics that are better left for serious reflection rather than comedy. I think there's no doubt 9/11 is part of that."
###
Sure. I doubt that was Obama's opinion Saturday night as he smiled and laughed after the 9/11 punchline.....But that's ok.....it's not important.
Wanda Sykes, tonight's WORST PERSON IN THE WOOOOORLD?
Doubtful.
9/11 is the Pearl Harbor of at least two generations since that terrible day in 1941. As December 7th is, 9/11 should be off the table as to humor. But when the group of Libs lacks adult supervision, these things happen. One would hope that their arrogance will be noted and remembered by the majority.
A picture of Olbermann's main squeeze adorns this thread....And it seems he is prepared to defend her professional bonafides as per TVNewser:
"An anonymous tipster wrote this weekend that Katy Tur, girlfriend of MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, 'is now chasing tornadoes as part of The Weather Channel's Vortex2 team.'
[...]
"But since NBCU owns both MSNBC and The Weather Channel, questions may arise about whether the relationship helped get the job. Olbermann tells TVNewser: 'Anybody who suggests so is misinformed, and/or sadly unaware that in this time when the industry is collapsing around us, nobody gets a job based on 'influence,' only talent.'"

I watched her clip at the link provided and have seen her on the local news network.....Talent? Not anymore than anyone else I have seen in the local news scene....Plus, her voice is a bit too high frequency squeky for my personal taste.
More NewsBusters stories (brackets [] added by me):
Brent Baker - Letterman Writer [Sir Bill Scheft] Boasts of Discrediting McCain, Obama 'Too Competent' to Joke About
Mission Accomplished, Bill, as you and your star, Dave, like to say...all the damn time...to knock our 43rd President.
Noel Sheppard - "SNL" Producer [Marci Klein]: Sarah Palin "Most Confident Person I've Ever Met"
Klein was appearing on my buddy Julie Menin's "Give and Take". (I overreacted to Julie's "O'Reilly [Ingraham] Factor" appearance in mid-March. Sorry about that.)
Kyle Drennen - CBS's [Harry] Smith: Olbermann Thought Sykes Joke "In Bad Taste"
Good link, Mike C....funny how people see (or change) the past....even reporters....
"SMITH: She told a joke about Rush Limbaugh as being one of the -- one of the hijackers and the reason he didn't make the flight was because he was, you know, on drugs or whatever.
"CHEN: Oh, on Oxytocin, right.
"SMITH: And the whole place -- yeah -- so the whole place groaned, and I ran into Keith Olbermann afterwards.
"PRICE: Right.
"SMITH: And he said 'I'm not sure, I think that was probably -- probably in bad taste.' I said what do you think her job is?'
"PRICE: Right.
"RODRIGUEZ: That's what she was aiming for.
"CHEN: But how did the room react?
"SMITH: You can't go home -- you can't go home to the community of comedians unless you've gone too far.
"MITCHELL: Right.
"CHEN: But how did the room react, you guys, who was there?
"SMITH: They groaned, serious groan."

What? The audience groaned?......Look at the truth.....

I heard a lot of laughter, saw a lot of smiles (including Obama's) and also a lot of clapping....Sure there were groans, but there was a lot of people in that audience that thought the joke was funny.
And Olbermann was "not sure" it was in bad taste? Even as somebody who lost a few friends there?
Where is his well known moral authority, his rightous indignation or his brand of absolutism?
Perhaps he had to think about it some more this weekend, read the usual blue blogs to find the right answer and then talk to his writers today to see if he has to consider Sykes WPitW.
We shall see.
They groaned?....Harry Smith is pathetic.
I hate you, Keith, and I hate you, Katy. I'm sorry. I couldn't keep up the niceties any longer. You two are ruining every goddamn thing you touch for people like me.
By the way, Cee, the link can't be accessed. There's an HTTP 500 Internal Server Error, probably because Olby haters like us keep trying to access it and leave comments. Katy Tur, a no-talent bum that got her job because she's doing Keith, as in "if she could do it all over again...she would not *DO it*!" Sound familiar, Keith?
The irony to this is I apologized in the previous comment for overreacting to Julie Menin in mid-March. I'm overreacting here, but I don't care.
No problem, Mike C....you can see the story on the main page, if you can stand it (just kidding).....
Olbermann's Girlfriend Katy Tur Joins The Weather Channel
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/
Some astute commentators noted that Ms. Sykes did not make jokes about The President which is what talented, brave comedians would do at such an opportunity....And with Obama's position against gay marriage, Sykes, who is a very vocal proponent of gay marriage, had a golden opportunity to "speak truth to power," through good humor, to move along her personal quest for equality.
Also, many say there just are no good jokes about the competent and amazingly cool current President. I found a couple from a non-comedian...the best as follows:
"If you're wondering why the president is in a good mood, it's because he's glad to be finished with his annual physical. During his colonoscopy doctors removed two benign polyps and the White House Press Corps."

That would have been funny AND true....two things Sykes avoided in her lame routine Saturday night.
Oh well, enjoy Olbermann tonight folks...I will wait for the video at MSNBC tomorrow to see what hypocrisy, smears and acts of hatred he committed.
VERO POSSUMUS!
Thank you cee for finally making me realize that the frequently used pic of those girls with the black guys (which I always despised) is because it has Ms. Tur in it.
I still dislike the pic but I understand why it is used.
Well, at least little Katy got something worthwhile out of her twisted liaison with FatAss. I look for her to dump Olby and find a real man - like one who chases storms. Probably just as loony as Olby, but better looking (and likely is better than Olby at a lot of other things).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
huh?
Of course it's used because it's an embarrassing photo of Tur with someone's middle finger in her mouth.
It has NOTHING to do with anyone else in the photo. I'm sure there are other photos of that event which show Tur just standing around talking to her friends, that have NOT been used here.
BTW, I've always hated that picture and cringed when I've seen it too.
To me it seems like the lowest sort of intrusion into someone's privacy and I've NEVER bought the argument that people working in the media and/or girlfriends of tv show hosts, merit such treatment merely by virtue of their being in the public eye.
With the treatment of Carrie Prejean by Mr. Olbermann I've tempered that position a bit.
I still don't like it, but as I watched videos of Olbermann contemptuously and repeatedly referring to Prejean's breast implants, while he works in an industry where women MUST ALSO do everything they can to look as attractive as they can, my hope is that the utterly egocentric Keith Olbermann will somehow see this site's airing of this picture as the same sort of thing he would gleefully do in a New York minute, against anyone (any non-MSNBC employee or non-liberal, that is...) whose politics he found objectionable.
My hope is that he will see this picture and that it will someday finally trickle down into his cerebral cortex and that he will reflect on his own actions.
I won't hold my breath.
