This is the recappers' comment thread for tonight's Hour of Spin. What can we expect from the infamous, deplorable one tonight? Be an Olbermann Watch blogger--without all the muss and fuss! Comments are open!

Between today's announcement about Obama reopening the Military Tribunals at Gitmo and Leon Panetta shooting down Madame Pelosi in flames . . . this ought to be a really convoluted Countdown. How will Olbyass manage to twist this all around to appear to be another Republican plot? This ought to be worth the price of admission . . . lol . . . which is zero, of course.
I wonder if Keith will duck out and leave The Boy Wonder holding the bag?

    His bath has been drawn...

Does that mean he's mercifully off?

Yawnnnn...another night another BORING show! Did he really is WtF thing would boost the ratings? Who came up with that idea? A good idea would have been, "this guys is not a journalist, get him out off the air"

Reverend Olbermann is on the case tonight, Mike C. He blamed the protests at Notre Dame University on "intolerance." And of course His Infinite Fairness had on some guy from the group Catholic Democrats to talk about it.

I bet Olby takes a little time off in the next few weeks. Memorial Day will provide him with some cover. I know I and others on this site have noted Olbys increasingly unstable behavior since at least late Feb or early March and last nights tatrum was the final leap off the cliff. Why on earth would a sane man bother responding to unknown websites net rumors?

Why? This is why. Narcissistic personality disorder: The narcissist is described as turning inward for gratification rather than depending on others, and as being excessively preoccupied with issues of personal adequacy, power, and prestige. Narcissistic personality disorder is closely linked to self-centeredness. It is also colloquially referred to as "the god complex".

Is it true his therapist name is Mr. Bubble?

#2: The Media Matters Minute. Worse was the Drudge Report. Ha-ha, the U.S. Attorney's office in Massachusetts won't let their employees go to the Drudge Report. Ha-ha!

Worser was Another O'Reilly Attack. Slur debut: Skeezix [Ding!]. As I knew he would, he got wind of yesterday's Talking Points Memo (transcript). Out of the entire Memo titled "Why the ACLU Should Be Condemned," Keith highlighted one part, which I've indicated between asterisks:
"... ACLU chief Anthony Romero is the big villain here, but he is not alone. The publisher of the Los Angeles Times, Eddy Hartenstein, saw his paper editorialize for the release of the photos today. And *radical-left George Washington University professor Jonathan Turley is making the far-left rounds promoting the release of the pictures. We used to respect Turley, but no longer. He has really gone over to the dark side.*
Anyone — anyone — who wants those pictures in the hands of our enemies is no friend to America or to the military, and it is time that clear-thinking people hold the haters responsible. America has more than 200,000 men and women in the field overseas protecting us, and some loons want to hand the enemy inflammatory pictures? No. The lunacy stops here. ..."
And so on. (By the way, Mike Gallagher and Dr. Marc Lamont Hill replied to T-Points in the Top Story segment.) But on OlbyPlanet, Keith "Man on Fan" Olbermann read what I indicated in the Ted Baxter voice. "... Turley is worth about 1,000 of you, Boy-o, ..." The eeevil O'Reilly is attacking Krazy Keith's bosses, attacking around him, and attacking his guests! "Next it will be individual letters of the alphabet." That was followed by a bastardization of the line about no longer respecting the Perfesser by incorporating Q and Z while reprising that unfunny Baxter voice. Keith continued his Alinsky rule five ridicule by mocking our humble correspondent for using the collective "we." "Also, who's this 'we' you always refer to? I've always wanted to know. Do you have an invisible friend or something?" Maybe it's Bill and his staff. Maybe it's a literary device, like subsituting "Talking Points" for "I." The "we" could even be all the viewers you'll never have.

Worst was Michael Savage. I'm not elaborating because I have no use for him, myself.

    brad,

Yep, there's like a gazillion (Obama's budget) examples of that but recently I've been thinking of one which involves his personal life. No, not that he hangs with someone who could be his daughter to prove his manhood (more like his emotional level, I digress), though that's a good one.

Check out all the photos at the ballpark. Number one is that he always has to be with celebs and 2 he always has to wear that over sized press pass. He wants the celebs to know that even though they are successful only HE can go into off limit sections of the stadium.

It's funny how narcissistic people have no self esteem.

By Dinky on May 15, 2009 9:40 PM

Yep! For about 5 bucks. Available at all area Manhattan & The Bronx 'Bodegas'.

I can just picture Keith telling the counter person, "it's for my kid".

I think his narcissism is hilarious...I had to go over to his baseball blog and look at the photo again. Olby says, "That is not in fact a Super Bowl media credential around my neck. It is a Super Bowl laniard. Apart from the phenomenal price changes, the biggest switch in the new park is the number of times one is forced to present one's ticket. So I needed something to carry it in, and that's what I happened to have lying around.

Sure, Keith. Or could it be that you wanted to have a huge sign around your neck stating, "Look at me, look at me, I'm important!!!!"

I seem to remember someone commenting that he was wearing a different suit the night of his broadcast. Also, I didn't see anyone else with a HUGE SUPER BOWL LANIARD around their neck...including Jerry Seinfeld.

    A classic example of narcissism.

CountDung, that's not a press pass he wears on his laniard. He answered a question on his baseball blog and stated that he carries his ticket in that pouch clipped to the laniard because he's asked for it so often. Only Keith Olbermann thinks there is nothing out of the ordinary in wearing a Super Bowl press credential carrier around his neck to carry his admission ticket. How insecure is this buffoon that he needs to do such things to feel important?

brad90956 - you beat me to the punch on the ticket issue. KO is becoming obsessed with this "WTF." As he cut to commercial tonight, he exclaimed, "What.....The...." and went to commercial. MSNBC is nothing more than a punchline.

    said by irushbaby:

I know I and others on this site have noted Olbys increasingly unstable behavior...

For sure. Keith has super petered. He has reached his level of incompetence. Back in the day when his ratings were in the single digits, Keith struck with the speshul komment. This saved Keith from the grave. Keith sees the icy hand of death approaching and he is trying to innovate another ratings grabber. It is apparent to all but Keith that he is no innovator. He lacks charm, charisma, grace, core values (except for the value he places on his bank account - cha ching!), screen presence, and professionalism. Keith thinks he can now afford the luxury of being eccentric. He has been in the show. The iconic baseball player can wear shower shoes with fungus because it makes him colorful. When the baseball player was in the minors his dirty shower shoes made him a slob. Keith is still just a slob and his antics are forth rate. Nancy Grace beats him in the ratings...have you seen some of the dreadful shows she puts on? I love Nancy as a person; she has screen presence and charisma. Her shows are just awful and she gets a bigger audience than Keith. LOL! This cuts Keith to the quick. Keith's WTF about the Cityfile story was juvenile. Countdown is Keith being 'all in', totally invested, his product. The product that reflects his talent level, that of an inferiority complexed 8th grader.

We all know it is going to happen and we will know it when it does. Keith will get backed against a wall and he will go bonkers. I don't wish for that day yet I know it is inevitable.

    johnnie_h,

    Wow, that's even worse.

Lets think about it. If you look at the photos you see that the celebs are a little taken aback as if forced to have a pic with him and whom ever he drags with him (like the girl who has a father fixation).

The celebs probably call an usher and say,"Look, I don't know who this guy is but that's not his seat." Usher to Olbermann, "Sir, can I see your ticket?"

    Makes sense now, LOL

did olby really call the sitting gov of Texas an "ass hat"?

    irushbaby,

Nope, in his best Southern twang, he said, "How about them standing up in Texas saying, 'Hey! Enough, all right, Governor Asshat?"

The Yankees game was broadcast tonight on YES network and they showed several shots of Bill O'Reilly, who was at the game with Donald Trump. That's gonna drive Olbermann crazier than he already is. KO has expensive season tickets and hasn't gotten any publicity for it - I haven't seen him shown during any games yet this season. Now Bill O'Reilly goes to the place where Olby goes to mourn his mother's death and gets some TV time to boot - KO must be reciting a Special Comment in his bathtub this very minute!

    ...his bathtub in Trump Tower.

    Olby ceases to entertain
    Nielsen ratings circle the drain
    Sane folks relate
    Intolerance and hate
    With Olby and Saddam Hussein

An Example of 'Class' & an 'Ass'.

Excerpts from two stories today at tvnewser.

#1:Keith Olbermann on "Sleazy Gossip." Dan Abrams Responds

"As for what actually happened with the Affleck booking, Olbermann said: "Ben Affleck had been tentatively booked for Countdown, then wound up on Rachel's show due to some really shoddy work by a fill-in publicist for his latest movie. This double booking stuff happens. It was resolved internally and quickly."

#2:"Live Desk" Goes Long With "Studio B" Delay

Smith explained it when he finally went on the air around 3:16pmET.

"We have 8 or 9 of these brand new control rooms they're HD ready they're the most beautiful things in town, and we're really proud of them. But today for some reason, they weren't sending the audio to master control. So you could see us, but not hear us. And as a result the Live Desk had to take over the first 16-17 minutes. But our crack technical team got it all fixed. Best in the business."

Olby:"due to some really shoddy work by a fill-in publicist for his latest movie."

Shep: "But our crack technical team got it all fixed. Best in the business."

And that doesn't rub off in the work environment?

    'Class' & An 'Ass'!

Good job Countdung, it all makes sense now. Also in those ballpark photos, only Keith seems the be the happiest in them all. But in his mind " I ran into some more Countdown viewers of which I had my picture taken with " Yeah too bad it was on his camera, plus who's taking the photos? I bet it's some poor MSNBC intern forced to where his ticket around his neck as well so KO doesn't feel too stupid wearing it himself.

Sort of like when #21 and #24 where eating at the diner when the Monarch was being reinstated in the Guild of Calamitous Intent. Two guys wearing goofy costumes, no problem. One guy in a goofy costume, he must be a loon.

    Just a thought:

When Olby goes over to the Yankee Stadium, no doubt he treats the ushers & wait staff like crap. Probably doesn't tip or leaves the min.

You can't tell me this doesn't get around the rest of the employees that make up the 'Yankee Family'?

Didn't watch tonight but, maybe this might explain the many shots of O'Reilly & Trump.

And if I may go back to tvnewser, I found this in the comment section to which if true, our boy has a long history.

jeffnoth posts (excerpt):"In a previous K.O. incarnation, pre-MSNBC, I remember him trying to similarly pose as an important TV sports commentator here in L.A. Sometimes he liked, ad nauseum, to consume valuable prime time seriously and passionately (and nerdily) trying to excite us viewers with his exhaustive personal baseball card collection, card-by-card up to the camera, thereby displaying his props for why he "knew" the world of sports."

"Then, as now, even when trying to be funny he comes across as very angry & hostile, unable to keep a lid on his fiery, warlike spirit, as his MSNBC colleagues no doubt realize. I'll bet they try to walk wide around His Royal News Highness if they possibly can."

Ushers, Waitstaff, Media Folks. No wonder O'Reilly got air-time at the game. I'm surprised YES didn't put Bill in one of those PIP! LOL!

Great picture....It caputres the state of COUNTDOWN perfectly.

Remember all the crowing Olbermann used to do during the show when his demo numbers temporarily went above O'Reilly's, even for 15 or so minutes?

I recall Olbermann making comments about his temporary win.

Remember Mo Rocca? His was one of the many echos Keith Olbermann relied upon to spread the left's propaganda?....He made note of a ratings win of Olbermann's back in 9/7/2007.....

"Here is something I consider a positive sign of change: Bill O'Reilly has been boasting for years that he is better than Keith Olbermann simply by pointing to his ratings, but for the first time on Friday September the 7th, Keith Olbermann ('the truth teller') defeated Bill O'Reilly ('the falafel guy.')

"Phil Griffin knew it would happen, he just didn't think it would happen this quickly. On Friday night, MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann was the top-rated cable news show in the 25-54 demo. That means Olbermann beat his cable rival, FNC's The O'Reilly Factor and its host Bill O'Reilly. That's a first... http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/msnbc/olbermanns_win_a_surprise_even_inside_msnbc_66715.asp

"Here is one segment from Olbermann's ratings winning evening."

    ###
I highly recommend watching the COUNTDOWN clip Rocca provides because it is classic Olbermann propaganda at the time....

Attack President Bush for trying to go through a locked door. (Does anyone recall Olbermann making fun of Obama for trying to go through a window of the Oval Office as entry from outside The White House?)

Attack President Bush for saying Austria instead of Australia. (Does anyone recall Olbermann making fun of Obama's gaffe saying there is an Austrian language?)

Attack "Bush's surrogate," General Petraeus' credibility (Does anyone recall Olbermann reporting on the great success of that very plan and has he noted, since the inauguration, that President Obama has retained both the Bush selected Secretary of Defense and that same Bush administration puppet general to run the military? Has there been any criticism of Obama war policy even as more "American kids get killed." Since the inauguration, has Olbermann noted the Iraq War death toll, last month it was 18, like he used to nightly when Bush and Petraeus were in charge?)

Both Olbermann & Wolffe imply that any Bush announcement of reduction in troops will simply be a political gesture to try to help Republicans in the 2008 general election. (Does anyone recall Olbermann making similar conclusions about the national security decisions of the new President? Has any of Obama's policy initiatives been put in such light on COUNTDOWN, or are they simply "practical" decisions made by a smart guy?)

Promote the agenda of the radical anti-war base and warn the left's ruling class that their hypocritical support of the surge could result in political losses. (Does anyone recall Olbermann noting the differences between what anti-war candidate Obama said and what President Obama is doing, especially in regards to "torture," closing GITMO, stopping the special tribunals, and with the war in Iraq? Has he termed those flip-flops in ways like he does in the clip?)

Make the classic leftist "switcheroo" when OBL made a statement and Bush commented about it, to make Bush the enemy and use the event to promote the meme that Bush allowed OBL to get away allowing the war on terror to continue plus blaming defending freedom in Iraq for that situation. (Does anyone recall Olbermann saying "Osama Bin Laden" since the election in 2008 and wondering what President Obama is doing to recitfy the very situation the radical left used to say was the biggest issue?)

Imply President Bush was a failure in the war against terror. (In the future, let us all watch and see that as events unfold, Olbermann will be as judgemental and absoulte regarding President Obama's display of leadership in the event of serious national security challenges.)

So, in 6 minutes and 26 seconds, the radical left's propaganda twisted the minds of many, for once more 26-54 year olds than Bill O'Reilly spoke to that evening. CONGRATULATIONS!

Thank goodness it was a temporary situation, because the hypocrisy, hate and lies have continued and increased. The fair and balanced presentations on THE FACTOR serve our democracy while Keith Olbermann continues his unethical and angry crusade against America with the echo chamber of hate. Now with the very leftist ruling class in total control of our nation's economy and physical security, Olbermann chooses to continue to be the propaganda arm of that very power structure leaving no doubt for those who have open and thoughtful minds that Olbermann is not a journalist but a leftist shill.

MikeHypocrite remains silent with these accusations directed towards Olbermann and Obama....he is a coward.

    VERO POSSUMUS! WTF?

Will the FCC have anything to say about asshat comment? I know it's nothing compared to the teabag crap but I ass was one of the magic words... Asshole certainly would be.

Not as if there ever has been an equal comparison between the ape ruler and Bill O'Reilly because that would be like comparing a high school dropout to a college professor, but for the sake of argument after seeing BOR having on two different viewpoints discussing Obama's decision not to persue the torture issue or to show those torture pictures it showed once again how fairminded BOR is.

One of the guys from the right said that Obama with his flip flopping proved he was an indecisive president, while the other guy from the left said Obama never should have changed his position and should have gone all out to persecute those that used any form of torture during the Bush years, and that those pictures should be shown to the world (WTF!).

Now here's where any comparison of the two (Bill and the ape ruler) clearly ends because O'Reilly disagreed with BOTH of them as he said no matter the flip flopping or the obvious mistake if Obama had taken the course that the latter pundit wanted, as he said that Obama did the right thing by changing his mind NOT to go after the government or to allow those pictures to be shown as it would hurt America and especially our fighting men.

A clear case of O'Reilly making a sensible observation about our president, and yet we all KNOW that if it was the ape ruler's show he never would have had the first guy on from the right, and the second guy he would have agreed with whole heartedly, while at the same time assuring the few who watch his show that Obama would come to his senses soon and change his mind and go after the goverment full blast. Even if it meant the deaths of American citizens and its armed forces.

I have watched O'Reilly since his first show and there was only ONE time where I had to wince at something he said and that was when he talked about that boy who was kidnapped where he said that the boy "enjoyed" staying with his kidnapper instead of being with his parents. I mean it was an "olby" moment for me where I had to shake my head to make sure I heard exactly what he said.

ONE time in thousands of shows. Yes, he sometimes goes on a little too long with his opinions and talks over some of his guests, but that is a negative about his personna and NOT about his fairness. He is MORE fair than any other journalist I have ever seen on TV, plus makes the most sense, but when it comes to the ape ruler it is a joke.

Three shows of his have I seen, (only one completely through from beginning to its hopeless end) and I have seen him say about 10 things PER SHOW that are unfair, untruthful and vile. Cee, had a great list (or sad list depending how you want to look at it) of them for only the past few months, and it was sickening to see.

O'Reilly vs the Ape Ruler for journalistic integrity or journalistic professionalism? Please, it truly is no contest as O'Reilly has kept up the great work of pasts journalists, while the ape ruler has perfected the lastest trend of piss poor journalism, shoddy workmanship, hyperbole lies, and the worst to me...being as anti-American as he can...all for the sake of his personal agenda and in keeping the ape ruler's army of ape viewers happy to go along with hoping to pump up his meager ratings.

It's King Kong vs Cheetah, and in a normal world something that shouldn't and wouldn't be allowed.

VERO POSSUMUS! WTF? - Love it!

"Yes we can ~ do the same thing as Bush and call it something else."

Wolverine, that is why Olbermann's ratings hit a ceiling during highly partisan political seasons and now are trending downward as he shows he is not "speaking truth to power," as some of his audience incorrectly believed, but is simply a shill for a fringe faction of a political party.

Olbermann's use of the blue blogs talking points, themes, stories and conspiracy theories was an obvious sign of his irresponsible and unethical methods. However, now as his ideological idols have absolute rule and show their political cynicism while they dismantle and pervert American institutions for their own political benefit, many are leaving his audience because he remains silent over the very same accusations he made during the Bush years....Hypocrisy is a usual deal breaker for honest folk.

I have read many good pieces this weekend regarding the "torture" debate which has been so central in exposing the lies and hypocrisy of Olbermann, Obama and the rest of the radical left....here's another....

"It's the Miss USA standard of political integrity: Carrie Prejean and Barack Obama have the same publicly stated views on gay marriage. But the politically correct enforcers know that Barack doesn't mean it, so that's okay, whereas Carrie does, so that's a hate crime. In the torture debate, Pelosi is Obama and Dick Cheney is Carrie Prejean. Dick means it, because to him this is an issue of national security. Nancy doesn't, because to her it's about the shifting breezes of political viability.

"But it does make you wonder whether a superpower with this kind of leadership class should really be going to war at all. Over at the New York Times, the elderly schoolgirl Maureen Dowd riffed off Cheney's defense of waterboarding and argued that, no matter when the next terrorist attack comes, the former vice president would be the one primarily responsible. He is, she said, 'a force multiplier for Muslims who hate America.'

"Really? Last week, while Speaker Pelosi was preoccupied with her what-did-I-know-and-when-did-I-know-that-I-knew-it routine, the Daily Telegraph in London reported what is believed to be the second mass poisoning of Afghan schoolgirls, this time at Ura Jalili High School for Girls in Charikar. Fifty students had to be hospitalized after a mysterious 'poison gas' infected the classrooms. As you may recall, under the Taliban it was illegal for girls to attend school, and Afghan insurgents have made a sustained effort to make the price of female education too high. So, in an effort to identify the poison, blood samples have been taken to Bagram air base to be analyzed by the U.S. military, taking time off its hectic schedule of mass torture.

"Does waterboarding so outrage the Muslim world that it drives millions of young men into the dark embrace of al-Qaeda? No. But the media fetishization of U.S. 'torture' is certainly 'a force multiplier' for Muslims who don't so much 'hate' as despise America, not least for its self-loathing.

"One of the few U.S. commentators to pick up on the Afghan schoolgirls story was Phyllis Chesler, who wrote about it under the headline 'The High Cost Of Western Idealism.' America and its few real allies fight under the most constrained and self-imposed rules of engagement ever devised, and against an enemy that rejects every basic element of the Geneva Conventions. Perhaps we are so rich, so smart, so advanced that we can fight with one arm and both legs tied behind our back and still win — eventually. Along the way many innocents will suffer. But better that than that a Gitmo detainee with a fear of insects should have a caterpillar put in his cell.

"Watching the Democrats champing at the bit last week, I thought perhaps we could cut to the chase and handcuff Cheney and Pelosi to a radiator in the basement of a CIA safe house somewhere. But on reflection this would be an unacceptable level of torture. It would be ungallant to say for whom."

I really like Mark Steyn and he does a great job is showing the idiocy of the American left in regards to this issue. I highly recommend reading the entire piece.

Did Olbermann cover the Afghan gassing this week on COUNTDOWN?....No....Instead we got more Dick Cheney hate, more Nancy Pelosi apologies, more Prejean hate, more Obama apologies, and more self absorption with his response to the Affleck gossip.....in a word....PRIORITIES.

So I leave it there for SOMEONE to try to defend Olbermann and the left's political class (including Obama), with regards to torture accusations and national security.....I predict, once again, silence.

    Wow!

When Olbermann speaks about Glen Beck he always, with much snark, refers to him as " Howard Hill". Who is this "Howard Hill" he is alluding to? There is a champion bowhunter/marksman named Howard Hill. Olby isn't subjecting him to ridicule, is he?

In the Broadway musical "The Music Man" the main male character is Prof. Howard Hill. He is a fraud that sells band instruments, promises to build a student band but skips town once he collects the money and doesn't have to be proven he's not a Music Man.

Qpublic , thanks for that. Olby shows that when it comes to obscure references, he is no Dennis Miller. WTF.

I have a home budget and I'm going to use Obama logic so the wife will be happy:

"Honey, next year I'm not going to buy a 1,250,000 home in Aruba so we'll save 1,250,000."

My wife wont fall for it but obamabots and Olby fans will.

Another, "Imagine if it was Bush," moment.....

Replace Axelrod with Rove, and Prejean with your choice of a vocal leftist true-believer who is female and pretty....let's say Natalie Maines, and this was available on YOUTUBE......

Not only would Olbermann be pounding his pulpit on the church of SNOBamessiah revival hour, but the entire choir at NBC NEWS, CBS NEWS, ABC NEWS and CNN would be playing the audio followed by grim faced anchors noting the growing controversy. Apologies would have been demanded 2 hours after it hit, with some feminist authorities crying "hate-speech," and "throw-back!" Political discourse would be labled "hurt," and The President would be held respnsible for allowing such a crude and mean joke.

I am sure Maureen Dowd and Frank Rich would have had entire pieces on Mr. Rove's anger, hate and pathology towards women. Perhaps even the required homosexual or misogynist reference would be considered by the very radical left as an excellent theory behind the jab.

Olbermann would surely be in the lead with the crazy anger, based on the absolute apoplectic nutroots response. KOS and MEDIA MATTERS would have thousands of posts regarding the 1 minute snipit with all sorts of predictions of resignation, humiliation and denigration. Olbermann would have nice doctored clips of Rove and of course about a dozen pithy silly titles for all the segments he would have devoted to Rove's joke and the destruction it wrought. Michael Musto, Jonathan Alter, Richard Wolffe, Howard Fineman and Lawrence O'Donnell would be the experts used for the first DAY of coverage (All five COUNTDOWN segments dedicated to the tragic display of hate of course!)

The Obama world is a place where a top advisor can lower himself into the mud of political correctness and hypocrisy without a sneeze from journalists. Is that a good development? Is the loss of objectivity a good development? Is the ability of the political ruling class to be so vile, classless and hypocritical without any accounting a good development?

    We will see.

A good commentary on the clip can be found at HotAir.

    VERO POSSUMUS! WTF?

Greg Gutfeld used the same term that Keith used "[posterior] hat" in the Gregalogue Friday night on "Red Eye."

By the way, I ended up deleting "Red Eye" for two reasons:
    1) Remi Spencer came out as a "waterboarding is torture [Ding!]" progressive attorney. Bill Schulz backed her up and said it doesn't work.
    2) Between "Fox News Watch," "Huckabee," and two Food Network shows, I had too much left to watch on DVR. I may not last "Fox News Watch," either.

As I said in the Col. Allard post thread, I was in Connecticut from yesterday afternoon until 90 minutes ago.

Off the topic, but I was youtube.com and ran across the Olby/Howard Dean interview. That clip is so hilarious. I like the way Olby TRIED to defend his actions for calling President Bush a fascist but was immediately shot down and humiliated by Dean. I think if Olby ever thought about bringing in a conservative guest to debate him, the brass at the top would just show him that clip. Too funny.

Yeah but Greg didn't let it slide, he kept bringing it up the whole show for Remy because he loves torturing her. lol

    Mike C.

Your a good guy but using the term asshat on a prime time "news" show versus a midnight satirical "news" show is beyond comparison.

And just a reminder to those complaining about "asshat". FCC has nothing to do with cable TV. However, you'll never hear any legitimate newscaster use it.

I'm considering using "WTF" as a nickname for Olbermann. Instead of a query, it becomes a proper noun, and works quite nicely. For example: "Countdown with WTF". Or, " Sheeesh, it looks like WTF has gained another 20 pounds. Or, " WTF has the night off again. WTF will rue the day he employed this low rent term. WTF thinks of himself as some sort of "News Man". I look at him and think; "WTF". It's far easier than spelling O L B E R M A N N. Anyone with me on this?

LOL, Dan. Great Thanks always cracks me up when he calls him Jimmy Legs, too.

My mistake, CD. I wasn't thinking clearly and missed the difference. On behalf of television, I sincerely apologize for the error. I am literally, dreadfully sorry. :)

It's Harold Hill, by the way, which has led me to add Howard Olbermann to my list of nicknames for Keith.

Let's talk reality here folks, just how many of Olby's Zombies have a clue who Harold Hill is?

Muted mongrel tonight on COUNTDOWN, and a 2fer....it's related to GITMO.....

"We spent hundreds of millions of dollars building an appropriate facility with all security precautions at Guantanamo to try these cases. I do not believe they should be tried in the United States. We should at the right time close Guantanamo, but I don't think that it should be closed in terms of transferring people here."

    Senator Jim Webb

Will Olbermann have Senator Webb on for a softball interview like he did when he was a voice against the Iraq War?

I believe in order to be a guest of COUNTDOWN, one must be in line with what the nutroots are demanding.....and as of this post they and Olbermann are still demanding "torture" prosecutions and the closing of GITMO on a fixed timeline (the current Obama policy).

Oh well....more broken promises likely from the administration and policy that seems pretty much like that of George Bush and Dick Cheney. Gee, this is strange change.

    VERO POSSUMUS! WTF?

Let's see if I can predict tonight's show (in no particulat order):

    1) Cheney and torture investigations.
    2) Defend Pelosi (CIA lied).
    3) Bash Liz Cheney for comments this weekend (possibly WPITW). See item #1.
    4) O'Reilly or FOX News (Beck/Hannity) somewhere in the WPITW segment.

And then of course the WFT segment. Who knows what tangent Olby will go off on but it will certainly make you think, "WTF?" "Why is this "man" still on the air.

FRIDAY.....where have all the liberals gone? Long time passing....hehe

    5p: 6p: 7p: 8p: 9p: 10p: 11p:

FNC Beck: Baier: Shep: O'Reilly: Hannity: Greta: O'Reilly:
    1813 1689 1354 2572 2157 1975 1551

CNN Blitzer: Blitzer: Dobbs: Brown: King: Cooper: Cooper:
    479 466 542 464 645 499 365

MSNB Matthews: EdShow Matthews: Olbermann: Maddow Olbermann Maddow:
    376 333 479 906 763 431 349

Yes Qpublic, and Olbermann was also a distant third in the "all important" demo to Nancy Grace of HLN. I cannot recall the last time Olbermann crowed about his ratings.

Maddow was third in the demo to elder Larry King.

It is getting pretty bad at MSNBC....I really think they need a major shakeup. The basic audience is people looking for things to attack the leftist shill over and the nonthinking drones who still think Obama's going to close GITMO anytime soon, we'll be out of Iraq in 2010 and that Karl Rove is still going to be indicted over The Plame case.

Firing Olbermann would be a good start.

Here is what you were referring to, Qpublic. "We," as usual, beat Keith and his "invisible friend[s] or something." In fact, Harold Hillbermann (I like that better than Harold Olbermann) came in third in the 25-54 demo at 8PM and fourth at 10PM with a paltry 99,000. In total viewers, Keith came in a distant second with 906,000 (not even a million) at 8PM, and fourth with 431,000 at 10PM. TV By The Numbers has the 35-64 ratings, which had Keith in the same places as total: second at 8PM, fourth at 10PM. Listen to that pollution.

Harold Hillbermann's good and I like the suggested "Countdown with WTF" too. :-)
