Ol' WTF looks extra fat tonight with his stretched-out collar. Developing......
Why even attempt this boneheaded argument about the impact of Bush policies in Iran? It was an obscure statement by Ari Fliescher, and simply due to the fact it made some sense and made the Bush administration appear competent (heaven forbid), Olbermann had to make it a story and do everything he could do to beat it down. It's obvious he is terrified of Bush having any type of positive legacy.
Bill Maher complementing George W. Bush? Other than Maher's low blows about W. and the Republican Party, he wasn't that bad. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not going to go off watching his show or anything, but he did offer some rare intellect on an otherwise intellectually deficient program.
He was also using the term "we" to couple himself and Olbermann along with the Democrat party. Clearly, like the rest of America, he isn't fooled by Olbermann's insistence of being free of political bias.
As for his statement that America's corporations are one of the largest contributors to the downfall of America...I'm sorry Maher, but you have got that completely backward. And when liberals make ignorant comments such as this, are they including Apple, Google, Starbucks, Amazon, GE and all the other huge companies that they love so much and exemplify as foundations of the American Dream? No, they think that we all think like them and are only considering banks, oil and the industrial military complex as large corporations.
Poor Keith. Unfortunately David Letterman cares more about keeping his job than remaining your hero. Letterman is giving a real apology tonight. Hopefully his ass still gets fired. I am sure MSDNC will keep a seat warm for him.
Keith, listen man, you can't accuse someone of rewriting history while rewriting history. You, and the Wall Street Journal editor were both very wrong. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have been government operations since their inception during the Clinton Administration, and AIG was not, and has not been taken over by the American Government, yet...
Another show ended with a "2,33blah blah blah days since Bush claimed Mission, blah blah blah"...
Olbermann, LET IT GO!
Olbermann see's himself as the proverbial dutchboy with his sausage-like finger in the dike (no maddow jokes, please). He is the mouth-breathing gate-keeper protecting NeoLib thought. No Republican/Conservative is worthy of the benefit of the doubt. No Republican/Conservative is above humiliation and degredation.
No family member or friend of a Republican/Conservative is worthy of defending. His main problem is that he has never changed a mind, or converted a non-believer. He is predictable and boring. He is a laughing stock to honest thinkers. He looks awful after a fresh hair-cut.
To everyone who defends the rape of either Bristol or Willow Palin (both acts are evil), if that's the hill you want to die on? Good luck!
Somehow, Joy Behar thinks it's okay to joke about rape since both daughters were at the RNC last year.
Congrats Joy! You just made it in my new club...
THE PEICE OF CRAP CLUB!!!
Along with all the on air talent of MSNBC.
Behar today said she has decided she is actually WITH Palin on the Letterman issue. You didn't see that on the "Factor". Another rat jumping onto the right ship. Last week Olby called Palin every name in the book for taking on Letterman. Will he admit he was wrong? Not a chance.
As for the Letterman ordeal, I'm somewhat happy with the response from feminist groups around the country, actually supporting Sarah Palin and her family. This is something they didn't do during the Clinton years, when a man was treating subordinate women as sexual objects, or with the issue of Carrie Prejean, a woman speaking her mind about something she is passionate about. Both of these situations they ignored are centerpieces of the feminist movement, of course, only when it happens to democrats does it ever get that support. Unlike Olbermann, they are doing the right thing here.
And for Joy Behar; Obama's daughters were at the DNC last year, let's talk about raping and knocking them up. According to you, it's all good. According to me, you're a liberal. To me, that's worse than calling you a bitch...
>You, and the Wall Street Journal editor were both very wrong.
But, Ryder, the Wall Street Journal is owned by the eeevil Rupert Murdoch, and Keith dismisses it as the "Murdoch Street Journal [Ding!]." (Not attacking you, Ryder; just kidding around with Keithy.) Olbypocrisy strikes again.
Olbermahn is a gutter snipe
His "news show" is just leftist hype
Same crap every night
No one from the right
Like an addict with a crack pipe
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is feeling all hope and changy. I think Obama needs to go over there and apologize for America some more or maybe he can send Jimmy Carter over to certify the election. Is shooting protestors and beating them with night sticks as bad a water boarding?
I didn't watch the factor tonight.
Harmon Killebrew is on Hannity tonight making fun of Bob Beckel. I wonder if Olbermann has his baseball card?
Not anymore, The Factor.
I didn't see this ANYWHERE on msdnc today:
GALLUP: 'Conservatives' Are Single-Largest Ideological Group...
http://www.gallup.com/poll/120857/Conservatives-Single-Largest-Ideological-Group.aspx
Also on "Hannity," Rev. Al Sharpton. So, I guess he's okay with News Corp again.
David Letterman's REAL apology last night was a good thing. I believe (and hope) the Palins will respond in kind.
Now to Olbermann. He said Letterman apologized last week. He did not. Olbermann also said that Letterman's intentions as a late night comic were the shield here and the Palins over-played it....With last night's sincere mea culpa by Lettermann, Olbermann was once again shown to be WAY OFF in his analysis. Not a surprise from clear-thinkers.
From HotAir.com, here is what Letterman said last night:
"All right, here - I've been thinking about this situation with Governor Palin and her family now for about a week - it was a week ago tonight, and maybe you know about it, maybe you don't know about it. But there was a joke that I told, and I thought I was telling it about the older daughter being at Yankee Stadium. And it was kind of a coarse joke. There's no getting around it, but I never thought it was anybody other than the older daughter, and before the show, I checked to make sure in fact that she is of legal age, 18. Yeah. But the joke really, in and of itself, can't be defended. The next day, people are outraged. They're angry at me because they said, 'How could you make a lousy joke like that about the 14-year-old girl who was at the ball game?' And I had, honestly, no idea that the 14-year-old girl, I had no idea that anybody was at the ball game except the Governor and I was told at the time she was there with Rudy Giuliani…And I really should have made the joke about Rudy… (audience applauds) But I didn’t, and now people are getting angry and they’re saying, 'Well, how can you say something like that about a 14-year-old girl, and does that make you feel good to make those horrible jokes about a kid who's completely innocent, minding her own business,’ and, turns out, she was at the ball game. I had no idea she was there. So she's now at the ball game and people think that I made the joke about her. And, but still, I'm wondering, 'Well, what can I do to help people understand that I would never make a joke like this?' I've never made jokes like this as long as we've been on the air, 30 long years, and you can't really be doing jokes like that. And I understand, of course, why people are upset. I would be upset myself.
"And then I was watching the Jim Lehrer 'Newshour' - this commentator, the columnist Mark Shields, was talking about how I had made this indefensible joke about the 14-year-old girl, and I thought, 'Oh, boy, now I'm beginning to understand what the problem is here. It's the perception rather than the intent.' It doesn’t make any difference what my intent was, it's the perception. And, as they say about jokes, if you have to explain the joke, it's not a very good joke. And I'm certainly - (audience applause) - thank you. Well, my responsibility - I take full blame for that. I told a bad joke. I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception. And since it was a joke I told, I feel that I need to do the right thing here and apologize for having told that joke. It's not your fault that it was misunderstood, it's my fault. That it was misunderstood. (audience applauds) - Thank you. So I would like to apologize, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the Governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I'm sorry about it and I'll try to do better in the future. Thank you very much. (audience applause)"

Now that was gracious. Unlike Olbermann, Mark Shields on NEWSHOUR saw the basic nature of the joke and simply stated the obvious without allowing his political ideology (he's a huge leftist) to cloud his judgement. I am glad Letterman heard it and changed his mind, going from the hateful Olbermann camp to the rest of us living in decency and respect of one another.
So, Olbermann is left in his radical left, blind ideologue place as usual....Nice place. I am anticipating Governor Palin's response and if it is as reasonable and measured as Letterman's, Olbermann will once again have no ground to spew his hate....but he will anyway because he's a mindless hateful fool.
Maybe I will be surprised, but I doubt it.
VERO POSSUMUS! WTF?
Letterman said: "And I had, honestly, no idea that the 14-year-old girl, I had no idea that anybody was at the ball game except the Governor"
and then...
"But I never thought it was (about) anybody other than the older daughter, and before the show, I checked to make sure, in fact, that she is of legal age, 18."
So let me get this straight. Letterman researched the fact that Bristol was 18 years old, but did not research that the fact Willow was at the game?
Yeah, right. That's no apology, imho. Letterman is a liar. And he's still hiding behind Bristol Palin like it's ok to rape the Governor's daughter. If I were Todd Palin...
You have a point, merkle, but in the end, after the initial excusing, Letterman did apologize (see bolded above).
Sarah Palin has responded and because it is not brief and specific to Letterman's apology, I am sure Olbermann will pick it apart tonight on COUNTDOWN....
"Of course [the apology] is accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve.
"Letterman certainly has the right to 'joke' about whatever he wants to, and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction. This is all thanks to our U.S. Military women and men putting their lives on the line for us to secure America's Right to Free Speech - in this case, may that right be used to promote equality and respect."

I think it would have been nice if Palin personalized her reaction because Letterman did specifically apologize to her and her husband. That will be a point pounded on tonight, I am sure. Although, I think Sarah Palin could not do anything that Olbermann could compliment because he is such a blind ideologue.
Just posted on The Daily KOS: Emergency vehicles called to the White House. They were called to remove Keith Olbermann's lips from President Barack Hussein Obama's ass.
Olbermann did comment on the Letterman apology last night, during the segment with O'Donnell on Cheney/Panetta....
OLBERMANN: From CBO to CBS, we‘re hearing tonight that David Letterman, on this topic that was so big last week, is going to make a really lengthy apology to the Palin family on the show that is broadcast tonight. I wanted to get your reaction to it. Let me just read a little part about this.
[...]
O‘DONNELL: And I‘ve heard that over the weekend, he did have time to think about this. He‘s a father himself. He had some cool time to think about it. And he could have left it where he had left it. He could have left it getting laughs at his original version of an apology and just leave it there.
But I think, both as a father and a responsible guy, having had a weekend to think about this, he decided he wanted to go to this extra point of clarification of a serious apology.
And, you know, actually, Keith, in the last couple days, from a lot of professional comedy writers, I‘ve heard more analysis of that particular joke than any that‘s ever written. And there‘s a large group out there who say, “Hey, it was a bad joke, it had a wrong concept in it, it was a bad joke.” And these are Letterman supporters and former Letterman writers, many of them.
And so, I think Dave reached a point that makes perfect sense. And I think he‘s making perfect sense in what he has to say tonight.
OLBERMANN: Any chance, briefly, that the Palins try to outclass him and just say, “Accepted”?
O‘DONNELL: Boy, if there‘s anyone in Alaska who can make them, you know, handle one of these things correctly, we haven‘t found that person yet. So, let‘s see what happens. That is the suspense here. If David Letterman does something completely reasonable, what is the Palin reaction? I have no ability to predict that.
OLBERMANN: Oh, yes you do.
(LAUGHTER)
OLBERMANN: Lawrence O‘Donnell of “Huffington Post” and MSNBC, and so do I, we‘ll have to tune in tomorrow to find out. Thank you kindly, sir.

There is nothing more than Palin saying "Apology accepted," that could pass without Olbermann making a fuss....and even then he probably would say she was being, "terse."
Hate, hate, hate....Both O'Donnell and Olbermann seem to have pretty poor memories....Just last week Olbermann was confident only Palin was in the wrong but now we hear Letterman realized he was in the wrong over the weekend.
Once again, NOTHING mentioned by Olbermann concerning the misogyny or sexism that would normally make such a lefitst cringe. Both O'Donnell and Olbermann seem to endorse such comedy! Nice.
Olbermann...intellectual dishonesty made worse with blind, hate-filled demogoguery....and an hour of valuable NBC NEWS broadcast time to waste!
VERO POSSUMUS! WTF?
I saw the video of the Letterman apology and thought it was sincere. I think it took him a couple days (with the media's help) to realize it was a very poor joke in extremely bad taste. But leave it up to Olby to keep stirring the pot of hate on an obvious issue that has finally been put to rest. Anything to keep attacking Gov. Palin even when she did absolutely nothing wrong and was defending her own children.
I've been Olby-free for 3 days and counting...though I might have to check out some videos to see if he mentions Palin's reaction to Letterman's "real apology".
Keith did not recognize a bad joke as such because he is intellectually and morally incapable. Keith's MO is proof. Keith mocks, demeans, insults, name calls, belittles, puts down, laughs at those with whom he disagrees idealogically. If Keith were capable he would use fact, logic, and civil debate to defeat his foes and win over converts. Keith's method and manner are unattractive and therefore has very limited ability to atttract. Keith's moral compass is out to lunch. I will listen to a liberal all day long that can intelligently and honestly express themselves. Paul Krugman comes to mind. Do I agree with what he has to say? No, but I can listen because he can intelligently explain a pro liberal position as opposed to just an anti conservative one.
He'll probably claim Palin " won't let the story die " with her new response. Or better yet start it off with " I wish it would go away, but Palin won't let it ".
I caught a small portion of the part leading to him reading Dave's new apology and I don't see how anyone can watch this guy. I thought he was quoting the whole thing, and unlike Dave, he read it very poorly. KO does this all the time dragging his show with long questions that make no sense. Or reading long quotes to drag out the little substance his "news program" has. Not only that when I WAS watching between CD and The Factor it seemed CD was always in commercial, which was mostly MSNBC and GE ads. Or better yet it had little breaks of KO saying whats coming up next on...CD.
This guy makes 7 million a year for this? Cut all the fat out of the show and its 8 minutes tops.
And speaking of fat, I haven't watched in a couple of weeks, but I noticed Olby has put on more weight. I swear I saw 3 chins at one point. He on some kind of Ice Cream diet?
Is MSNBC in HD yet? You think he's overweight now wait till you see him in HD.
Anyway, I'm inquiring to the odds of whether or not the Dick Cheney wants us to get attacked story goes away in light of this clarifying comment:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/06/15/cia-panetta-doesnt-believe-cheney-rooting-for-terrorist-attack/
Letterman's apology started out weak, but ended strong and genuine.
Palin's acceptance started out simple and genuine, it went downhill after that.
twelvepackaday,
Paul Krugman can intelligently express himself? Are you kidding? With all due respect, Paul Krugman is just another Obama tool spewing hate. Anti-conservative is an understatement. Unbelievable that this goon won a Nobel Prize...

Along with the important stories covered on COUNTDOWN like Palin v. Letterman, Panetta v. Cheney, etc...the Iranian situation continues on and our current President is proving the empty suit I knew he was in October '08....Compare his Carteresque response to the millions of Iranians going to the streets to make their displeasure known to what Ronald Reagan said about another group of people protesting against their despots in Poland....
"The Polish nation, speaking through Solidarity, has provided one of the brightest, bravest moments of modern history. The people of Poland are giving us an imperishable example of courage and devotion to the values of freedom in the face of relentless opposition. Left to themselves, the Polish people would enjoy a new birth of freedom. But there are those who oppose the idea of freedom, who are intolerant of national independence, and hostile to the European values of democracy and the rule of law.
"Two Decembers ago, freedom was lost in Afghanistan; this Christmas, it’s at stake in Poland. But the torch of liberty is hot. It warms those who hold it high. It burns those who try to extinguish it."

Keith Olbermann and the rest of the blind followers of the church of SNOBamessiah are willing to allow the best in all of us to be muted by 'the one' simply because he is unable to to stand solidly on a simple principle....freedom.
Oh well. History will be the judge. Words spoken in a speech without risk means NOTHING...Stating clear principles when the times are difficult prove leadership. We have seen which one is Obama.
BTW, do any on the left wonder what Saddam Hussein would be doing now with an ever increasing unstable Iraq? It's a good thing he is not around to make mischief as well...Oh well.
VERO POSSUMUS! WTF?
That should have been....BTW, do any on the left wonder what Saddam Hussein would be doing now with an ever increasing unstable Iran? It's a good thing he is not around to make mischief as well...Oh well.
We shall see what superficial coverage Olbermann spins to try to excuse the inept Obama tonight.
a preview of Countdown, FaT ED is flippen out..over the Palin thing. Called her slim and said it was they that dragged their girls into this mess. He is a vulgar pig, then he went on to make a vulgar comment that the FCC needs to look into about Cheny..
Palin/Cheny '12
Yeah, nomore, I watched ED reading Plain's statement and was insulted as he had a cheesy rendition of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" playing underneath.
What an insult to her response. I hope his ratings tank all the way down quickly.
what ratings..you want him to go into the negative..he will always have one viewer..KO..Well when KO is not at the Yankee games that is
MSNBC is just a HATE network. Nothing productive or constructive will ever come out of their "shows" because they deal in HATE. Pure and simple. All they do is take blogs like Media Matters, Daily Kos and Huffington Post and basically take them from print to the air.
What I don't understand is why they don't change things around. Obviously, their format doesn't work and their rating are are a joke. The only thing I can think of is that Immelt wants the pro-Obama, attack all Conservatives "style" in hopes of getting GE those big, green contracts from the government to save the company from bankruptcy. If not, then Immelt is the worst CEO in American history.
Monday's ratings: At 8:00, KO was a distant second in total viewers and the 25-54 demo. At 10:00, an equidistant second in 25-54 and third in total.
