On Monday night the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann delivered a keyed up diatribe about the evils of Fox News in general, and BIll O'Reilly in particular. The illogic of his Kevin Bacon-style linkage of the killer of an abortion doctor to O'Reilly speaks for itself. We're more concerned with the logic, and logical implications, of Keith's call to action--a secondary boycott of anyone who dares permit FNC a presence in their establishments:
It is probably your experience as it has been mine that stores, bars, restaurants, waiting rooms often show Fox News on their televisions. Don't write a letter, make a threat, just get up and explain if they will not change the channel leave the place and say calmly why it is you are taking your business elsewhere.
One might wonder if that means Olby will no longer have a monitor embedded in his desk tuned to Fox News and O'Reilly that he can keep an eye on as he broadcasts Countdown, posts comments to Daily Kos, and bids on baseball cards. But there's an even more outrageous catering to Fox that goes far beyond a tv set in the lobby. And Olbermann himself is inextricably linked to it.
Ever since he began blogging for Major League Baseball, Krazy Keith has been reporting on his own visits to the local ball parks. Here, for example, he gives a tour of the new Mets stadium, complete with his own snapshots as illustrations. But now everything has changed. Oralmann demands a "quarantine" of Fox News. And this leaves him but one option.
Announced this week was the fourth annual Fox Fan Day. It will be held on June 20th at Citi Field, for a game between the Mets and the Tampa Bay Rays. This is no mere case of having FNC playing on a tv set somewhere. This is bringing Fox News itself into the ball park, live, in person. How else can it be described other than as a blatant endorsement for the enabling of terrorists and murderers? And it's done with the express written approval of the NY Mets and Major League Baseball!
For a person of intellectual consistency, for one who lives by the same principles he demands of others, for a commentator who isn't just a poseur and truly believes in the truth of what he speaks, there can be only one course to take. Don't write a letter. Don't make threats. Just announce (tonight on Countdown would be the ideal time) that if they do not immediately cancel this event and sever all ties with the murderous traitors of Fox News, then you--Keith Olbermann--are taking your business elsewhere. You will quit your MLB baseball blog. Turn in your season tickets. And never set foot in one of their tainted ball parks again. Anything less would be Olbypocrisy of the highest order.
Let's help write some excuses for him. Here's one:
I would not want to deprive the (insert incredibly embellished number here) of fans who enjoy my blog just because some commentators have no respect for law and order blah blah blah blah blah blah.
What if he turns this into an 'unhealthy event'.
Last I checked the game was not sold out. I'm sure FNC workers, friends , and family members will be there.
What if he calls out the Mets front office to cancel this or there will be trouble.
Remember what he tried to do with the charity function that Bill O'Reilly was part of a month or two ago.
Like I said last night, I think he's getting real close to the edge with that quarantine crack.

He's soo close to the edge, he can see over it. He knows he can't beat O'Reilly and FNC ratings wise.
What else is there left for the man to do?
Even clear thinking people on the left know the radical Olbermann is out on a limb with his latest Moby Dick citing.....
"On Monday, Media Matters for America, a left-wing group that catalogs what it calls 'conservative hate speech,' published a 2006 clip from Mr. O'Reilly's radio show in which he said, 'If I could get my hands on Tiller,' followed quickly by: 'Well, you know. Can't be vigilantes. Can’t do that. It’s just a figure of speech.'
"Mr. O'Reilly draws wide attention because he has ranked as the top-rated host on cable news for the past seven years. Inherent in the criticism were questions about media responsibility; the blogger Andrew Sullivan suggested that the case 'could be the end to O'Reilly's dangerous, demonizing game.'
"On Monday night, Mr. O'Reilly rejected those questions, saying instead that 'far-left zealots' and 'Fox News haters' were exploiting Dr. Tiller's death by taking aim at his commentary. Citing estimates published by The Washington Times that Dr. Tiller had performed 60,000 abortions, he wondered why his critics were not writing about 'the 60,000 fetuses who will never become American citizens.'
"The exhaustive blog posts and video montages of Mr. O'Reilly's comments about Dr. Tiller were rooted, analysts said, in a familiar yearning to assign blame, particularly in the fierce debate over abortion.
"Burt Neuborne, a professor of law at New York University and a former legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union, said that while the debate was not new, 'the ability to technologically call up snippets of speech' is.
"Mr. Neuborne said that a commentator’s language, no matter how colorful, generally cannot be treated as an incitement unless it directly instructs individuals to commit violence.
"'In every complex political setting, there's a tendency to single out the loudest of the other side and claim that what they're doing is not political speech but is incitement,' he said. 'It's important not to allow that to happen. It would have a dramatic effect on the ability to speak vigorously.'"

That's it....Olbermann is a hater and cannot tolerate speech he deems unacceptable to his world view. He has called for it to end.
Where are the defenders of freedom of speech once so vocal on this site that declared characterizations of some as "unpatriotic," an attempt to supress free speech? That position was untenable then as is now the typical Olbermann apologist with regards to defending his latest crusade.
It is interesting.....the silence.....
Olby should take a vacation
From his prescribed medication
Always losing to Bill
He'll take another pill
And go off the reservation
He's swirrrr-lin' 'round the toilet
His ratings fall down the crapper
this overacting buffoon is go-ing nuts
as viewers hit that zapper
NBC NEWS is gone
Ed Murrow spins in his grave
as this lying windbag be-smerches his good name
Olbys act is so lame
Let the ratings book show
just how much MessNBCs ratings blow
no thanks to this huge ego
who thinks he the news god
he must be compensating ..
for a lack of sex drive
While Billy O scores high
Olbydinks ratings go "buh-bye"
even losing to his female side
no wonder Olbydink goes to
his bathtub to hide
from reality!!
He's gone nuts, and his show keeps biting ratings dust
(sung partially to the tune of "singing in the rain")
