Once again the Olbermann Watch Research Division poured through the MSNBC online transcripts to see how what kind of attention was paid to key stories and issues over the past week. Here is what our keyword searches found:

Notes: References to Iraq do not include Olbermann's ritual closing mantra.
Hmm. An awful lot of coverage of Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Bachmann, and Fox News. Not so much about Fort Hood, which got relegated in each case to a non-leading short segment. In fact, on yesterday's Hour of Spin, Edward R Olbermann didn't even mention Fort Hood, with no reporting whatsoever on all the new developments regarding Nidal Hasan's background and troubling contacts. Truly, another Dog That Did Not Bark. Such is the vaunted news judgment prevalent on Olby Planet. We'll wait for next week's chart for a fuller spectrum of Oralmann's "journalism". But we pretty much know what to expect tonight--and chances are it won't include an apology to Peter Johnson for Monkeymann's repellent, still uncorrected smear. Comments are open!
I broke down and watched the last 10 minutes of MELTDOWN...and I think I just lost 10 I.Q. points for it. It was the most misogynistic, juvenile, petty piece of reporting I've ever seen. He spends 10 minutes on a beauty contestant and not 1 second on the Ft. Hood memorial.
Pathetic
the Ft.Hood story does not fit into his template of his "America" would rather spend the 1st ten or so minutes talking about CLinton going to Cap Hill to try and get deathcare reformed. priortories priiorties..how sad..
Crazy Larry slapped down Keith, when KO though CLitno could get the 2 dem senators from Arkanssa to supprot DCR, Larry said NO CLitno is a creature of NYC not Arkanssa Stupid KO!
Let me guess: Keith did another one of his deconstructions of something on FNC or a right-leaning person, or both. Or, in other words, it was a play[-out-of-context]-and-snark segment loaded with personal attacks. Or was it another Musto appearance?
Brad I'm surprised at you. God could have showed up and it wouldn't have kept Olby from doing that number one story.
And look, if those troops didn't go around teasing ol' Habib we would have none of this today. And if anybody should know about getting picked on, it's Olby.
Olby's Hero paid a visit to DC today. Did a quick photo-op with the boys in The Senate and then went trolling for interns. Olby thought this was worth the #5 slot, with Crazy Larry AKA Mop-Up Boy joining him.
#4 Olby's lame attempt with some 1-800-Lawyers dude trying to push forth the fact that. His client was fired in Sept. for something she objected to in Feb. . Did we forget to tell everyone that Tempo (the wed. mag insert) was cancelled in July? Keith did.
Also, why didn't this woman show up? Only her lawyer was there. Strange? But then again this is Olby Planet.
#3 Gotta feed the Palin need.......moving on.
#2 WPITW Had an FNC feel to it, Gee I'm shocked! Olby never goes there. lol.
#1 The only question here is, Where was Musty? Probably warming up the Hot Tub back at Olby's crib. I heard Katy is out chasing storms.
Musty, Marky, Olby in the tub with mop-up boy jumping in for sloppy seconds.....a round of 'naked twister'. And then a pillow fight to see who gets to have the 'Obama Blow Up Doll' for the night.
Slumber Party Deluxe.
Forgot to add this from the #5 story. What was that Senator doing at the Airport? Hot date in stall #4?
Wait, are you all saying that he did nothing--NOTHING?!?--about Hasan, the emails to Al Qaeda, or the Fort Hood ceremony?
In the Ft Hood story will morph into a rightwing plot to take down Obama, that is in KO world and the world the left wing radical blogs..
Johnny,
Forgive me, I made an error. Olby did talk about Hasan in the Worlds Best Person segment. He quoted Sean Hannity about the government knowing about Hasan last year and didn't do anything about because nobody wants to be labeled an Islamophobe. "What doess that say about Barack Obama and our government?" To which Olby replied that Obama wouldn't have known about it directly but since the communications were intercepted late last year, GWB didn't do anything about it either.
So I was wrong, Olby did talk about Hasan (but still never mentioned the Ft. Hood Memorial) for 28 seconds but used it as an attack on Fox News, Sean Hannity and GWB.
Still, very pathetic.
He did do 2 full segments (according to MSNBC video) on Palin and Prejean. I guess it's more important to fullfill his Olbsession than to report on a terrorist killing 13 soldiers on U.S. soil. Then he completely dismisses the ceremony for the fallen soldiers...no video, not a word uttered. What a class act.
I better not hear that over sized blow hard ever, I mean ever, say he supports and respects the military after this disrespectful display. Today he spat in the face of every person to ever serve in the Armed Forces.
I don't know witch is worse KO not covering the Hood shootings or only covering it enough to attack FOX or Bush..still KO is not the worst of the MSNBC bunch as hard as that is to believe..Chrissy Mathews actually wonders if contacting al Qaeda is a crime and Ed Shultz saying he's more depressed at Joe Lieberman stand against Obamacare than the Hood Shootings...i keep wondering can they sink any lower? New Murrows indeed.
Did I read that right?
No mention of Fort Hood last night? At all?!
Utterly astonishing. A man who idolizes Edward R. Murrow can't even pretend to go through the motions of a newscaster....
It is beyond a shadow of a doubt at this point that MSNBC has clearly thrown in the towel with this guy. What with this latest Nidal folly and his recent escape from the studio during election coverage, GE has egg on their face knowing they have to pay off the rest of that exorbitant salary of his.
How far things have fallen since Russert passed away. The sorry state of our nation's media is on full display every night at 8PM on MSNBC.
I am not surprised Olbermann did not seriously report on Ft. Hood last night. The left has no interest in the story because it does not involve Christian fundamentalists, Republicans, The National Rifle Association or any other "RIGHT WINGER!" bogeyman.
The bogeyman needs to turn Olbermann on and Hasan does not do it. There is already an excuse for it all....it was the strain from the ill conceived war in Iraq that gave Hasan PTSD by proxy....Wow.
COUNTDOWN is an hour of Olbermann wallowing in hatred and the murders at Ft. Hood are not adequate to get him going on the rampage like Prejean, Limbaugh, Palin, Republicans, etc....Once again, the psychological implications of this are stunning.
I heard him say at the intro last night that Prejean is not Sotomajor or Michelle Obama....Well, Cankles is not Murrow or Cronkite, so he should turn down the volume of judgement.
Krazy Keith's nightly off-gasses
Have no appeal to the masses
Ratings half of last year
Time for new eye-gear
(Miss Banfield wants back her glasses)
Now with his 2 or 3 finger salute
The airways, Keith continues to pollute
His screaching condemnations
Of only some political persuations
Makes most hit the TV remote's "mute"
Nobody has brought up yet who was Worst Person, via the transcript:
"But our winner, back after too long an absence, it's Bill-O the Clown [Ding!]." Blue blog source: Think Propaganda. "He decided to talk health care reform with Brit Hume and hilarity [Ding!] ensued.
Bill-O [Ding!], (Ted Baxter voice): 'they call it the public sector.'
Hume, (strained mock voice): 'public option, you mean?'
(Baxter): 'Public option, whatever. The folks don't want it.'
Hume says, (strained): 'the public option—actually, some polls show that the public option standing by itself is not at all unpopular, but it is kind of popular.'
Holy crap. O'Reilly was lying so much, Brit Hume had to correct him twice. Holy crap. And public sector? That might not be the dumbest thing ever said on Fox. That's still Glenn Beck citing the university of I don't remember [Ding!]. But citing the public sector insurance plan? Holy crap. Bill, 'what's all this about a pubic option, O'Reilly, today's worst person in the—what's word here—world."
What's the deal with beating hated rivals up over trivial things like mixing up or misspelling words?
Now I understand why Cankles is not so quick to cover the Fort Hood story....It has a connection to the terrorist plot he poo pooed....The Fort Dix plot.....
"In addition to his contacts with Major Nidal Hasan, the radical American cleric, Anwar al Awlaki, served as an inspiration for men convicted in terror plots in Toronto and Fort Dix, New Jersey, according to government officials and court records reviewed by ABCNews.com.
"Despite his ties to other plots, including the one against the Army post at Fort Dix, some 20 e-mails between Awlaki and Major Hasan were dismissed as 'innocent' by a military investigator working on the FBI's Joint Terror Task Force in Washington, D.C.
[...]
"American officials say Awlaki, has gone into hiding since his e-mail exchanges with the accused Fort Hood shooter became public. Phone calls to a relative's home in Yemen were not returned.
"'He is not just a proselytizer but someone who is operational, with deep and longstanding connections to al Qaeda and has been for some time,' said a former senior American intelligence official who had access to classified information.
"Awlaki was characterized in court testimony as an inspiration by two of six Muslim immigrants convicted on conspiracy and other charges in a plot to kill U.S. military personnel at Fort Dix.
"The cleric, who says it is the duty of all Muslims to fight the United States was cited as a source of wisdom by the two men."

Poor, poor Cankles...he claims to be a journalist but recall how he handled the Fort Dix story (dismissed it as part of the Bush Amdinistration's tactics of fear) and now he simply chooses to ignore a huge and important story (one that incolves the sacrifice of 14 of our fellow citizens) for reasons likely connected to his bias and incompetance.
As the continuing investigation by intellectually honest individuals continues, Olbermann's silence on the story will only look worse. Goodie.
According to Olbermann, there was nothing of importance to the Fort Dix plotters. Now, looking at the coverage it has received on COUNTDOWN, what Hasan did at Fort Hood is also unimportant. Why?
Oh, that's right. Keith Olbermann is an intellectually dishonest shill for the radical anti-America left. Duh. He's just giving his radical minority audience what it wants....hate.
VERO POSSUMUS, indeed. Wee weed?
One more thing about WPitW: the same Tommy Christopher that was critical of Olby on his Prejean attacks sided with Keith in slamming Bill and Brit via Think Propaganda. Hey, Tommy, isn't Mediaite supposed to be about the media? If you want to shill for the public option, go to HuffPo.
