Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

Keith Olbermann: Wrong Then, Wrong Now!

John Gibson explains for the uninitiated what we here at Olbermann Watch have known for years: the infamous, deplorable one has the worst track record of any so-called 'pundit' not just on A-Mess-NBC but anywhere in the known 'verse. Listen, enjoy, then prepare to recap Herr Olbermahn's post-speech Hour of Spin. And Wednesday's crapfest too! Comments are open!

More truth in 9 minutes with Gibby than in 60 minutes of Keithy poo!

This was the weakest speech I've heard the man give.

I'm sure Keithy is saying it's the BEST SPEECH IN THE WOOOOOOOORLD!

I don't know what was worse, Obama's speech or TWPIW spot. Geez. Both were pathetic.

And they pushed back A Charlie Brown Christmas for this? Where's my torch!

Worse blue blog source: HuffPo. Worser blue blog source: HuffPo again. Again, here is last night's Factor Investigation segment with Mike Huckabee. I don't feel like rewatching the video and transcribing, but the O'Reilly/Huckabee Attack involved something about "stalker producer [Ding!]" and a "TV critic that was right about you." I don't know. I'm paraphrasing. Just wait for the MSNBC transcript tomorrow. summed up that segment this way:
"37-year-old Maurice Clemmons allegedly walked into a Washington State café and murdered four cops. Clemmons, who amassed a long rap sheet in both Arkansas and Washington, had recently been released on just $15,000 bail. The Factor was joined by FNC host and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who actually commuted Clemmons' sentence in 2000. 'If I could have known nine years ago,' Huckabee said, 'that this guy was capable of something of this magnitude, obviously I would never have granted the commutation. He was sentenced to 108 years for two crimes when he was 16. The parole board and the judge recommended that his sentence be commuted, but I'm responsible and it's not something I'm happy about at this moment. My heart is broken for four families.' The Factor denounced the judges who released Clemmons on minimal bail: 'I don't think anyone watching thinks it's your fault - after he moved from your state to Washington he racked up eight felony charges, including the rape of a 12-year-old, and these clown judges gave him a $15,000 walk.'"

Chrissy Mathews called the cadets at Westpoint "enemy territory" for Obama. Maybe Obama should send them all to Gitmo.

Chrissy Mathews called the cadets at Westpoint "enemy territory" for Obama. Maybe Obama should send them all to Gitmo.

One more thing on this, just to let Olby know where the blame *really* lies: the judges. O'Reilly followed up on the story in Is It Legal tonight, one of a few topics discussed.
Here is the setup: "All right, now, Seattle, Washington--this cop killer shot dead by the police today, good. He's dead, we don't need him here. I don't believe in capital punishment, but this guy wouldn't drop the gun, and I'm glad they plugged him right in the head. So, he's gone. But *the two judges who let him out, [John] McCarthy and [Thomas J.] Felnagle*, Kimberly [Guilfoyle, who Bill went to first], they *still won't explain eight felonies pending against this guy, long rap sheet.* Huckabee, we had on last night, let him out because he was a juvenile when convicted in Arkansas...commuted the sentence. *Didn't let him out, but commuted it so he was eligible for parole, which he got.* Okay. *But these two [judges], they knew of his extensive record, and they still let him out on $15,000 bail, even though he's charged with raping a 12-year-old. Is there anything to defend these judges' decisions?*" The discussion went on from there.

I wished The Boy-King would stop using the phrase "Let me be clear". He says it multiple times in every speech. It's getting old, quick. It's lost all meaning.

    Two viewer e-mails:
Steve Patterson, New Brunswick, Canada: "Mr. O., you dropped the ball questioning Mike Huckabee. He is just as responsible as the two judges who gave the cop killer low bail. Governor Huckabee was spinning."
Bill's response: "You know, I disagree, Steve. The Governor *commuted* the sentence of the guy and *others paroled him*. He was 16 when he committed the crimes in Arkansas; 16 years old. Now, since that time, he committed a whole bunch of crimes as an adult. And those pinhead judges *knew that* and they let him out in $15,000 bail, facing a rape charge against a 12-year-old girl. We can't have that in America. And again, we don't want to embarass those judges, but they're gonna have to explain that. They're going to have to."

Okay, Dan, I'm done now. Please don't reprimand me for dragging us off topic with non-Olby stuff.

LeeAnn Thomas, San Jose, Costa Rica: "I was glad to see Mike Huckabee own up to his actions."

    By syvyn

"This was the weakest speech I've heard the man give."

Because he didn't have a hand-picked crowd applauding his every word. Did anyone notice when he finished certain sentences he would pause waiting for that ovation that never came?

As for Chris Matthews, if that moron doesn't apologize tomorrow for that statement then he is the pond scum we already know he is. IMO, his ass should be suspended or fired. It was a slip by Matthews that shows the true feelings of the left (Matthews, Olby, Maddow, ED, Kos, ect.)...they truly detest the military and all they stand for. This statement plus Olby not covering the Ft. Hood Memorial...need I say more?

My plea to Dan was supposed to be the last paragraph in that comment. I guess I hit enter twice in the wrong spot and didn't notice before hitting Submit.

Anyway, David Zurawik of The Baltimore Sun analyzed Olby's Blue Dress Interview with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) on tonight's Hour o' Spin.
    Z wrote:
"... the most intriguing conversation to me was the one on MSNBC being led by Keith Olbermann.
I know, the two of us have had our differences. I lost count last summer of my 'Worst Person' nominations.
Be that as it may, Olbermann was serious, focused, informed and I daresay fearless in exploring left-wing reaction to the president's decision to add 30,000 more troops and up the ante on America's commitment in a country with a government that even Obama admits is corrupt. The left was where the action was after the speech, and Olbermann used his home court advantage well.
He interviewed California Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and she made no attempt to hide what she described as her disappointment in the course that the president had set in his West Point speech.
'I don't get it. It just doesn't work for me,' Waters said ruefully.
'Are you going to attempt to stop what he is going to do?' Olbermann asked, mining for a more specific answer from this influential member of the Black Congressional Caucus.
'We will not support it,' she said.
'You will have to vote against it?' Olbermann asked, again trying for absolute clarity on what Waters was saying.
'Yes, I will have to vote against it,' she said firmly, citing budget issues and her desire to have the president address what she sees as a far more pressing 'domestic agenda.'
It was one of the most riveting back-and-forth question-and-answer moments of the night anywhere on TV, and it was clear that neither Olbermann nor Waters was enjoying one bit saying what they felt had to said. But Olbermann was pressing waters, and in so doing, he was bringing important information to viewers as to what kind of opposition Obama might now face from what had been part of his base in Congress.
Just in case anyone didn't get the larger implication of the conversation, Olbermann deftly summed it up as the Waters segment ended and his 'Countdown' show went to commercial.
'This issue,' he said, '...has riven the progressive moment and the Democratic Party...and, perhaps, the nation.'
There might be some overstatement in there, but it was one of the most fascinating post-speech story lines to pursue, and nobody tried to explicate it more precisely than Olbermann Tuesday night. Good for him -- and good fortune for those who were watching him."

Time to update the Olbersaurus: "riven," as in "to rive." The definition of "rive" can be found here.

NewsBusters: Olbermann Slams 'Cowardly' Cheney [in #3], 'Maybe You Should Shut Up, Dick [Ding!]'.
It's worth noting that our slovenly political hack only had on progressive (far-left) guests last night. What else is new? Meanwhile, his Olbsession balanced things out. On the right, Karl Rove and Monica Crowley. On the left, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) and Alan Colmes.
It's also worth noting that Zurawik was praising Keith.

    Worse and Worser:
"Bronze to Rupert Murdoch, owner of the New York Post. Another fired [Ding!] Post employee has now sued former reporter Austin Fenner, alleging much more than just that he was a victim of racism [Ding!] while in Murdoch's employ and fired [Ding!] for being black.
In his suite, Mr. Fenner says that after the Post published its infamous dead chimp Obama cartoon [Ding!], New York Gov. David Paterson, who is also African-American, made it known that he wanted to be interviewed by the paper about the cartoon and would answer any other questions the paper had on any other topic. The white [Ding!] editors at The Post, the suit claims, summarily refused to interview him.
The runner-up is Billo [Ding!]. Mike Huckabee now says that as governor of Arkansas and he had looked at every file of every request of leniency. But the parole board and the judge recommended doing something about Maurice Clemmons' 108-year sentence. Clemmons allegedly ambushed and killed four police officers in Washington State Sunday morning and was himself killed in a shootout there today.
After initially folding on responsibility, Huckabee stepped up slightly today. 'What I acted upon,' he said, 'I'm responsible for that.' Billo [Ding!] disagreed, (slight Ted Baxter voice): 'Well, it's not your fault, governor. I mean, look, you've got 1,200 of these cases a year. You got to look at them. I'm not saying it's your fault. I don't think anyone watching thinks it's your fault.'
So Bill, if you don't like a judge's ruling in a case, you'll send your stalker producer [Ding!] out to harass [Ding!] the man, like he was - I don't know - a TV critic who told the truth about you.
But if the official responsible for excessive leniency now works for Fox, you, Bill O'Reilly, are happy to be soft on crime?"

Merkle seems to have omitted some facts. Well, I had to intrude with them, but let's check the O'Reilly-Huck segment transcript. Here is part of it, with what Keith used in asterisks:
O'REILLY: Did you study this guy? Did you spend a lot of time on it, or did you just take the advice of your advisers?
HUCKABEE: No, I looked at every case file, and I had 1,200 of these a year. This is what people need to understand. Ninety-two percent of the time they were denied. But in this case, the judge in the case was also recommending and the parole board on a 5-0 vote, because at the age of 16, the sentence he got for the crimes he committed back in 1989 was excessive for anything else that was in Arkansas.
O'REILLY: OK, but it was a bad guy in prison, and the prosecutors told you, so they say, "Hey, this is a hard-core guy. This isn't some kid who went wrong."
HUCKABEE: We didn't have any information from the prosecutors. We sent notices, which is the practice in Arkansas, to five different people: the attorney general, secretary of state, the prosecutor, the judge, and law enforcement. The only official that we have record of getting notification from is the judge who agreed with the recommendation of the parole board. So that's what we acted upon, *what I acted upon. I'm responsible for that.* And, you know, my heart is broken for four families tonight.
O'REILLY: *Well, it's not your fault, governor. I mean, look, you've got 1,200 of these cases a year. You've got to look at them. I'm not saying it's your fault. I don't think anybody watching thinks it's your fault.* But the judges in Washington state, come on. I mean, this guy moves from your state, Arkansas, to Washington state, and then he racks up eight felony charges. Eight felonies, including the rape of a 12-year-old.
    HUCKABEE: That's inexcusable, Bill.
O'REILLY: And these clowns, these judges give him a $15,000 walk, which he makes through a bail bondsman. And I mean — and then they don't even return our calls to say, like you are right now, "Here's why we did it." I mean, this is insane. When you have a guy like that, a rape charge against a 12-year-old, and you let the guy out on $15,000? That's — there's no excuse on earth for that, governor. Would you agree?

    Context is everything.

I *hate* to intrude with them...

No apology (so far) from Matthews:

0:47 of the video, "MAYBE tonight I used the wrong phrase, enemy camp".

Maybe? No, Chris, you DID use the wrong phrase. There is no "maybe" about it.

This idiot knows he made a huge mistake with that statement and yet his giant ego (much like Olby) won't let him apologize. He just sticks to the MSNBC code. When putting your foot in your mouth or proven wrong with facts don't apologize and admit you were wrong...just blame Bush, Cheney or Palin.

Apparently Chrissy did apologize today...but when KO's boy wonder Shuster uttered his infamous pimping remark he was suspended for a few weeks..wouldn't calling our troops the enemy at least warrant a day's suspension at best or atleast a WPITW award if KO was an honest man? New Murrow's indeed.

It was a very smug Matthews who said he was sorry. It was like he was biting his tongue and saying it reluctantly.

What an idiot. It will be intersting to see what KO says about NY shooting down the gay rights bill.

By meerkatpooh on December 2, 2009 7:36 PM

Maybe he will bring in Rachel 'Ray' Maddow for 'Expert comment' from the so-called smartest woman on cable tv.

In the preview for WPITW he's named Bachman, Bill-0 and Dobbs. So I'm not going to do my condensed verison, I'm watching Rudolph.

Let's see if I can guess without looking.....

    Dobbs for the CNBC thing.

O'Reilly for Osama/Obama (only Ted can get away with that)

Bachman if for any other reason, if she met him anywhere she would slap him soo hard his girlfriend Musto would feel it.

    Here is O'Reilly's gaffe.
The gaffe--or "oopsie," as I call it--occurred after the Barack and a Hard Place segment during a tease for P&P. Bill forgot the show was live: "Pinheads & Patriots on deck, tonight starring a Congressman who says, you're not gonna believe it, President Bush allowed Oba...uh, Osama...(quietly): now, I'm gonna have to cut that again. (hits desk) (faded out, music brought up): Uh, sorr..." Unfortunately, it was live TV. I thought we were lucky he didn't do anything worse than hit the desk. A friend of mine said "his freudian slip was showing" and we laughed it off.
On OlbyPlanet, however, "Oh, Bill, seriously? You can't remember whether you're doing it on tape, (extends hand out): or...?" Yes, you guessed it: the "Inside Edition" outtake was shown. Another ancient history lesson from the Olbesessed Professor Olbermahn. "(Ted Baxter voice): Billo the Clown [Ding!], today's Worst Presson...oh, let's cut this again. Sorry. Oh, we're live? Oh. Crap."
I laughed it off, but O'Reilly haters, like our Olby, and ICN commenter joeremi, laughed at it and him.

#1: Musto and Olby revel, I assume from not watching, in the Tiger Woods affair revelation.

You were sort of right on Dobbs, Puck. The source of the attack wasThink Propaganda, but Keith threw in CNBC and also implied that Lou Dobbs is crazy and paranoid. Dobbs was Worser. Bachmann was Worse. The source for that was Talking Points Memo. Even though Keith could have gone to ICN or Mediaite for the source of his O'Reilly Attack, he was Worst, I think it was HuffPo.

    By Mike C. on December 2, 2009 10:43 PM

Bachmann was Worse. The source for that was Talking Points Memo. Even though Keith could have gone to ICN or Mediaite for the source of his O'Reilly Attack, he was Worst, I think it was HuffPo.

Or, you could have used a well worn line from many a 'Film Noir'...

    "The usual suspects".
