Olbermann Watch, "persecuting" Keith since 2004

    February 26, 2010
Claim: MSNBC Looking for a Reason to Dump Keith Olbermann?

    That's the word from JedEckert.com:

...His bosses have long suspected that he was playing the bereaved son card. They could even tolerate the sick father excuse to a point (apparently even when that said father was not be seen at the many Yankee games Keith was attending - one notable game was the October 9 play-off against the Twins!) But now things have really gotten creepy. In his special comment on Wednesday, in what can only be a cry for help or sign of impending mental breakdown, Keith talked about killing his father...

    And more:

...Word is that the folks at NBC are now looking for a way out. Very informed sources tell us that they realize all his relationships with employers end badly. It is just a matter of degree. Add to that - his embarrassingly dismal ratings no longer appear to warrant his inflated salary...

The article seems to be a mix of anonymous sources and speculation, so read the whole thing and make your own decision as to its validity.

Olbermann will again be off tonight, reportedly due to his father's illness. We extend our best wishes and prayers.

I started to post about this a couple days ago but deleted it because I thought it might sound to harsh. But here goes. I had a suspicion that Olby knows Comcast is going dump him so he is using his father as an excuse. He has become more and more unhinged with each passing show and I think Comcast has had enough. Couple this with poor ratings and a large salary and it spells disaster.

Why would you post on the Daily Kos and "clarify" that his absence was because of his father's illness and not his own health or "career"? Why would you say something like that unless you are trying to save face? Any rational person could deduce that if Olby didn't show up it was because he wanted to be with his father. That is why his statement to "clarify" his absence sounded really strange when I read it.

Plus $7 million is a drop in the bucket for a company that just paid billions for NBC Universal. I could easily see Comcast just paying the money to get rid of him.

It's sad the way this whole thing is turning out. I know we all here expected the break down but it's a shame it has to be tied in with his father. I fear that the two combined, the loss of his father and the loss of his show, will manifest itself is some truely ugly fashion if Keith is ever again given a soap-box to preach from.

I figure Keith will sink away to some websight, not Kos as they eat the weak on the left and are really disgusting people, but maybe Democratic Underground. I think there he can find solace with the other wretches that even the progressive left won't let out of the basement.

Boy, talk about prophecy coming true. Many people have been saying these same things for a long time now. We all knew he was self-destructing and about ready to get canned. Im wondering why it takes so many other people so long to realize it.

As much as I sympathize with someone dealing with a sick relative, I could never use it as a political tool with which to strike at people I disagree with. Some things are better left personal and for family members to deal with in privacy and respect. Does he not think about anyone else but himself? Does he not think about anyone else in his family that cares for his father? Perhaps they would like to focus their energy on spending time with his father and keeping a positive outlook on a rather bleak situation. Of course I realize that most of this would fall on Olbermann's deaf ears.

As you once said to the former POTUS... "Enough, Resign!!!"

I don't want to get ahead of myself because this is all speculation. Nothing has been confirmed but it is a very plausible scenario. We will just have to wait and see what develops.

    Bipartisinshi*

Real classy MSNBC. Nice to know Keith is there in spirit.

As a result of these two nights off, I can't complete that experiment of tracking the guests each night this week on "Countdown" and "The Factor." The latter ended up being the show with a guest on more than one night: Megyn Kelly.

Anyone want to lay odds on whether or not Rangel will even get a mention?

Stick a fork in Keith 'cuz he's toast
The Factor's the show folks watch most
    Keith can't compete
    Comcast hits "delete"
    Now Lawrence O'Donnell's the host

    Highest rated show on MSNBC.

Yeah, I know, and it's the #1 show not on Fox.

    "Highest rated show on MSNBC."MKDAWUSS

That isn't saying much....but this really doesn't have anything with KO's ratings but his unhinged behavior..KO has a long history of burning bridges with everyone he has worked for and for alienating his co-workers...now I would not be surprised if KO says at MSNBC because yea he is their number one show but he is also an unstable element and MSNBC really risks having him have a big meltdown sooner than later. New Murrow indeed.

What was the demo that Keith claimed he had higher ratings than Fox? Something like the 19-35 demo? I know it was a demo that didn't exist.

It's funny...Keith says Fox News is not a "news network" but what does MSNBC do during the Health Care Summit...shows women's curling and hockey.

Now that it is almost 10:00 pm it's time for Rachel to empty the trash, set the alarm, put in a 48 hour DVD of "Lockup" and lock the doors.

MSNBC...The Place for Politics...except on the weekends.

    Aren't the demo lines like 13-17, 18-34, 35-50, 50-64, 65+?

BTW, MSNBC is more "Fair and Balanced" than FOX News. You have several conservatives (Pat, Joe, Tweety) and liberals (Keith-O, Rachel, and Ed) with prominent platforms to carry their message across. FOX News? All Republican, all conservative, with the exception of maybe Shepard Smith

Have fun with this thread this weekend, MK.

I think NBC's giving Keith-O all the support he needs right now, not ready to throw him under the bus. Besides, what reason do they have to fire him? He has the highest-rated show on MSNBC, he says it like it is, he uses verifiable facts to tell the story and reinforce his claims...

    MK,

Name one, just one, Republican politician, Conservative, or Republican Strategist Keith has had on his show?

After those last 2 comments, I am just going to ignore him because it is pointless to have a civilized debate with someone so out of touch with reality.

MK...what color is the sky in your world?...that is a rhetorical question.

Good move, Brad. We should all do the same, but I know some can't resist.
By the way, Brad, feel free to e-mail me. The address is on my blog's about page.

    OK

How was what I said out of touch with reality? I could just as easily say that all these comments you made regarding KO and his family has you out of touch with humanity.

This is the same pathetic argument KO has been harping on for a while now. Pat and Joe are the biggest RINO's ive ever seen in my life. Not sure who "Tweety" is but I imagine he falls in with Joe and Pat. We keep seeing this same stupid argument with a lack of colored hosts and KO saying "But, I have Eugene Robinson on my show." I can use a similar argument as well. "There are more non-party affiliation, independent hosts on Fox than MSNBC. All anyone wants is for Olbermann to start to bring on Conservatives to debate on his program, and to stop using the strawman argument that the only thing that will happen is shouting and arguing. Done right, real debate can proceed unless KO starts calling people racist, homophobic, sexist, teabagging, mashed up bags of meat with lipstick, or any other stupid, childish names.

    "Highest rated show on MSNBC."

For Wednesday, the last day Keith worked this week, he had 917,00 viewers. The winter olympics had 1,042,000 viewers, so no, he is not the highest rated show on MSNBC right now. Furthermore, Chris Matthews hosted the evening spin on MSNBC on Thursday and drew in 1,068,00 viewers so Keith is not even second. Also this goes to show what I said in the last thread, the reason Matthews ratings suck is that Keith is not bringing in the viewers. Pretty telling that Chris pulls in more viewers at 9 pm then Keith or Rachel do during their time slots.

    "Aren't the demo lines like 13-17, 18-34, 35-50, 50-64, 65+?"

In Keith's world yes, in reality no. The standards used as far as I know: 18-49 is the money demo for network shows and 25-54 is the money demo for cable news. Understand that Keith making up demo's is not new or even rare, but the fact that he harps on his "success" over and over in the made up demo is pretty pathetic.

"BTW, MSNBC is more "Fair and Balanced" than FOX News. You have several conservatives (Pat, Joe, Tweety) and liberals (Keith-O, Rachel, and Ed) with prominent platforms to carry their message across. FOX News? All Republican, all conservative, with the exception of maybe Shepard Smith"

By tweety I first thought you meant David Shuster but last I heard he was banned from tweeting by MSNBC. Instead do you mean Matthews? Either way are you seriously going to tell me that either one is a conservative? If so then by those loose standards Megyn Kelly, Brett Baier, Shepard Smith and Greta Van Sustren are all liberals. If you want to be realistic and say that only Joe Scarborough is a conservative then I will award you a point for that one guy since Fox news does not have any full time liberal hosts now that Alan Colmes has gone part time. However Fox News does have Brett Baier and Shepard Smith who do hard news, not commentary, and I would say they are the least biased of all hard news reporters on television today.

"I think NBC's giving Keith-O all the support he needs right now, not ready to throw him under the bus. Besides, what reason do they have to fire him? He has the highest-rated show on MSNBC, he says it like it is, he uses verifiable facts to tell the story and reinforce his claims..."

Highest rated show does not mean anything when MSNBC's complete line-up is utter failure. Go look at the history of television, shows that would regularly draw in 10 million plus viewers would still be canceled because the could not draw in the money demo. Mystery She Wrote and Friends use to have the same number of viewers but guess which one charged three times as much money per advertisement. The truth is that a legitemate television station only cares about one thing, the money demo. If you can not attract that demo you are through. Keith is currently down 40% in total viewership and 50% in the money demo year to year and with performances like that people at the top notice and are not happy to be spending seven million dollars on a loosing horse.

"How was what I said out of touch with reality? I could just as easily say that all these comments you made regarding KO and his family has you out of touch with humanity."

Unfortunatly it didn't take you long to resort to Keith's favorite tactic, dehumanize your opponent. Someone disagrees with you? They must be a rascist. Someone challenges your "facts"? They must be a sexist. Someone calls you out for lying? They must be out of touch with humanity.

Will we get a god-win post next?

"In Keith's world yes, in reality no. The standards used as far as I know: 18-49 is the money demo for network shows and 25-54 is the money demo for cable news. Understand that Keith making up demo's is not new or even rare, but the fact that he harps on his "success" over and over in the made up demo is pretty pathetic."

Oh OK - I'm not all that familiar of ratings breakdowns. I thought they were segmented into a lot more categories.

"The truth is that a legitemate television station only cares about one thing, the money demo. If you can not attract that demo you are through. Keith is currently down 40% in total viewership and 50% in the money demo year to year and with performances like that people at the top notice and are not happy to be spending seven million dollars on a loosing horse."

... yet didn't Keith-O run a story not too long ago detailing that his rating were in fact, going up, citing AC Nielsen as his source?

"Unfortunatly it didn't take you long to resort to Keith's favorite tactic, dehumanize your opponent. Someone disagrees with you? They must be a rascist. Someone challenges your "facts"? They must be a sexist. Someone calls you out for lying? They must be out of touch with humanity."

Well, where you put trashing someone in a state of grief and sorrow dealing with the potential loss of a parent, especially after having lost one less than a year ago. I, for one, can relate to losing a parent, though it was a totally different situation and a totally different experience. But that's besides the point. Attacking someone during one of the most difficult times in one's life has to be pretty dehumanizing.

If you didn't notice, Keith-O was very classy when it came to the news relating to Dick Cheney's recent heart trouble.

we shall see whzat happens, all I am going to say is that while we send our prayers to keith and his family.

One DOES have to question what is in the future ..
Remember when Keith had enough of Monicagate and thus "THE BIG SHOW" was toast.

I do have a feeling , and will again say it .. when comcast moves in , Olbermann will be out.

I dont know about most of you, but I have had a song stuck in my head recently when i force myself to watch the hour of dribble. That song is

The End...... This is the end my only friend the end, of all elaborate plans the end.

truthfully it is rather sad to see someone melt in public, though in this case entertaining, and I may ad entertaining and deserved.
and ifi may offer Keith some of his own wisdom

    " shut the hell up"

Illinois....Yes, The Doors!!! I have their greatest hits CD and it is awesome.

No one’s perfect but he’s the one I turn to for reliable information and I tell everyone I know they need to watch his show. O’Reilly is a joke and could never fill Keith’s shoes. He’s struggling with personal issues too. Give the guy a break.

After reading the above I have lost a touch of faith in my fellow man

    MKDAWUSS,

How many times do we have to explain to you that we sympathize with the fact that Keith's dad has been having serious health issues? Everybody who is born has a mother and a father, and barring any accident or health problems for the child, the kid will have to bury his/her parents. It's horrible, it's sad, and it's part of being mortal living beings.

However, what Keith did goes way beyond his parents being sick. He used his position of power being the main prime-time go-to program at MSNBC and attempted to use the illness of his father to make political points. Now, I don't know if he actually discussed the comment with his father prior to going on air, but it was completely unnecessary and over-dramatic. Everybody has family members who die, and 99.999% of individuals will keep it within their circle of family and friends. His comment had absolutely nothing to do with the actual illness of his father, it was a pathetic and irrational tirade about health care reform. Keith brought this problem upon himself. He could have taken his time off in quite grief and silence, but he decided to run his mouth without contemplating the consequences.

Give us the name any other newscaster who has done something like this before. Hell, Peter Jennings essentially hid HIS OWN CANCER for years and died shortly after resigning as the host of ABC News. Robert Novak did the same, he announced the illness, then withdrew from the public to be with his family in his dying months. Olbermann himself isn't even sick, but he has turned the health of his family into national news for no reason other than to glorify his political beliefs. Why else would he bring it up on his show? I would have had no problem with him making a brief announcement at the end of the hour about his upcoming absence, or he could have used a MSNBC spokeperson. What does it say about Olbermann that his first instinct was to parade the impending death of his father on his nightly show as a means of promoting a piece of legislation?

"... yet didn't Keith-O run a story not too long ago detailing that his rating were in fact, going up, citing AC Nielsen as his source?"

This is why you can't believe what Olby sez. He claimed his ratings went up from Dec to January. 1. EVERYBODY'S ratings go up from December (the lowest rating month of the year) to January, when the holidays are over and people return to their normal patterns. That's why nobody compares Dec to Jan, unless they are spinning and trying to flim flam credulous people. And B. In December, Keith was off for half the month, with either fill-in hosts, clip shows, or rerun docs as time fillers. III. Keith's miniscule single-digit Dec-Jan improvement is a joke to anyone who follows broadcast ratings, because it's laughably small compared to how other programs improved.

So to summarize: he used an unreliable indicator, neglected to mention his improvement was in large part due to overall viewing patterns and the fact that he wasn't even there for half the previous month, and with all that loading of the dice registered a tiny improvement far behind the pace of other programming over the same time period.

For all these reasons year-to-year comparisons are the standard that media journalists, advertisers, and everyone else uses. Olby's 40-50% drop is precipitous when his competitors have had much less of a drop or none at all.

Correct me if im wrong but olby has tried repeatedly to protay himself a journalist:

of which the definition is: from webster

1 a : the collection and editing of news for presentation through the media b : the public press c : an academic study concerned with the collection and editing of news or the management of a news medium
2 a : writing designed for publication in a newspaper or magazine b : writing characterized by a direct presentation of facts or description of events without an attempt at interpretation c : writing designed to appeal to current popular taste or public interest

Therefore as journalists Peter Jennings and Robert Novak did not use their illnesses to further a political concept ( in this case one most Americans are not in favor of BTW)

I will simplify Jennings and Novak had journalistic integrity,
    Olbermann not so much.

and FYI I buried my mother 18 months ago after a losing battle with cancer. it was sad and hurt then and it hurts today, I empathize with ANYONE who faces a loss,

"yet didn't Keith-O run a story not too long ago detailing that his rating were in fact, going up, citing AC Nielsen as his source?"

Yes he did and this ties into his fantasy relationship with the demographics. Keith was claiming his numbers were up from December to January. While this may be true it is completely irrelevany. The standard industry practice is to use year to year numbers as they are more reliable. Look at December, it's the holidays, people are out shopping, going to parties and spending time with families. Don't you ever wonder why your favorite network shows go on hiatus during December? It's because no one is watching.

Let me put this into an analogy. Let's say you ran a florist shop. January your sales stink, no one is buying flowers and you make $10,000. Next month, February, business is booming. In one week alone you double that $10,000 from january and all told you make $35,000 dollars. Now obviously February has Valentine's day so of course you would sell more flowers so how does comparing January to February make sense? Instead to see how your business is really doing you have to compare it to last year's February sales to see if your company is doing better or worse.

Unfortunatly for Keith, as I stated earlier, his numbers are down over 40% year to year.

"Well, where you put trashing someone in a state of grief and sorrow dealing with the potential loss of a parent, especially after having lost one less than a year ago. I, for one, can relate to losing a parent, though it was a totally different situation and a totally different experience. But that's besides the point. Attacking someone during one of the most difficult times in one's life has to be pretty dehumanizing."

Personally I think Keith brought this one himself when he damned everyone to hell who disagrees with him on Wednesday night. Keith Olbermann is an example of a complete failure for a human being. When a man repeatedly calls anyone who he disagrees with rascists, sexists, homophopic, teabagging, violence inducing and then damns them to hell then he deserves no respect from anyone and I for one will give him no respect. If he then reaps what he has sown then there is no one to blame but Keith himself.

"If you didn't notice, Keith-O was very classy when it came to the news relating to Dick Cheney's recent heart trouble."

Let's take a look at some of classy Keith's comments on Cheney:

"Neurotic, paranoid, false to fact and false to reason, forever self-rationalizing his inner rage at his own impotence, and failure dripping from every word, and as irrational, as separated from the real world, as dishonest, as insane as any terrorist; the former vice president has today humiliated himself beyond redemption."

"At best, you are guilty of malfeasance and eternally lasting stupidity. At worst, sir, in the deaths of 9/11, you are negligent"

"the dark, hateful place of Dick Cheney`s own soul"

"You saved no one, Mr. Cheney. All you did was help kill Americans"

"Your response to your complicity by omission on 9/11 was panic and shame and insanity"

So as we can see Keith is all class. Of course none of this has to do with Cheney's heart attack, Keith let Ed Shultz handle the jabs this time. Surely you have heard how Ed, a fellow MSNBC host joked about ripping out Cheney's heart and kisking it around like a football? I know this is an attack on Keith through his colleague but as Keith has made clear he sets the agenda at MSNBC.

Pewp, thank you for the additional classy examples of Keith's use of facts in pursuit and practice of journalistic excellence and expression. after all he does bill his show as the highest rated NEWS program on cable, at least according to Olby logic

MKDAWUSS you're very good at making comments but very poor at defending them. Pretending a comment isn't there doesn't make it go away.

By MKDAWUSS on February 26, 2010 10:05 PM
I think NBC's giving Keith-O all the support he needs right now, not ready to throw him under the bus. Besides, what reason do they have to fire him? He has the highest-rated show on MSNBC, he says it like it is, he uses verifiable facts to tell the story and reinforce his claims...

Man, I don't know where to start, but I'll try if I have enough space.

"Support?" Where is all the support? The reason why he may be...I say may be because nothing's certified just yet, but I believe if MSNBC has any integrity it could be true...in this predicament to begin with is ALL because of the fact he used his fathers illness to further his agenda. THAT is exactly why MSNBC may be finally seeing what everyone has seen for so long now. They are NOT giving him support in any shape or form outside of saying nothing, which anybody who has been in this position will tell you is saying A LOT.

"highest rated show on MSNBC" First, as everyone stated here already, is that he's on their 8pm timeslot which is every networks BEST timeslot, meaning very simply that if you are on that timeslot you damn well better be their number 1 show. Secondly, who in their right mind...outside of the Ape Ruler's followers obviously...gives a crap about coming in second year after year vs the real competition, and as of late alternating between 2nd and 3rd with Nancie Grace, outside of Gaylord Focker's parents? Thirdly, to even promote that stat, which he enjoys doing as much as he enjoys showing his Agriculture Diploma, shows the nation to how out of touch with reality he is. I mean WHO in their right mind would constantly BRAG about coming in second all the time?

"he says it like it is?" No, and if you've watched his show without blinders like we do over here, he says it like he'd "want" it to be. Always has and always will.

"he uses verifiable facts" WHAT? No, and again without the blinders you'd notice how he takes EVERYTHING out of context, and I mean EVERYTHING as he never shows the COMPLETE quote or video of someone he hates. The time he said that Bill O'Reilly said something to the effect that the girl who got killed while being out late one night deserved to be killed. Yeah right, and I'm sure you loved that lie, because in effect what Bill said was that she was taking a chance being out that late and being drunk...a stat that any police force in the country would verify, and if your hero had taken the time to show the whole video it would have proved, yet once again, how he deceived his viewers.

"reinforce his claims" yeah, to you I guess that means repeating the same message over and over again by showing the shortened audio or video clip and that's all the "reinforcement" he needs? How about having someone on his show that disagrees with all his vile and lying "facts" to even...try...to discredit his claim? Even better, as O'Reilly will do everytime he is challenged about his facts, have that same person he called out ON his show?

Damn, MickyD you have got to come with a lot more than this slop get any props here. I think it better, if you are to defend him, to stick with saying that we are "mean" for talking about his weight. At least with that strategy you might make some of us agree that we were just getting personal, as it has nothing to do with his overall demeanor. Nah, maybe not, because that would open the door to all the horrible personal attacks he's said about almost everyone who doesn't agree with him.

You know the only advice I can give you is to look for another hero you can follow, because when it comes to him you really have sold yourself short.

Mike C wrote " Have fun with this thread this weekend, MK."

I lol'd, anyways I think the last demo LOLbermann claimed he dominated was something like 18-26. It doesn't exist.

or was it 19-24, or maybe 18-22. I dunno it something stupid. Most people that age are watching Family Guy reruns on Adult Swim.

What the hell are we going to talk about when Olbermann gets firred? What are we going to call this site? The Maddow watch or the Mattews watch. You know what, it wouldn't bother me one bit if Olby gets the boot. His askewed view of the world is pathedic. His lies on his show are piling up and he has no credibilty in the news business. So when he is gone from MSLSD, where is he going to work next? I hope it's not another news organization.

Keith better not get fired. I am still paying off the loan to pay for the OlbermannWatch logo.

I believe the last demo he said he dominated was January.

    By rob5791 on February 27, 2010 9:58 AM

I say we just party for a few days, then either close it or change it to MSNBCWATCH.

But like I've said before, he has a year left to go on his contract. NBC is not going to do anything, they will leave it to Comcast. Depending when Comcast finally takes over, they will just let the contract run out.

    "Highest rated show on MSNBC."MKDAWUSS

    Tallest Midget Contest.

BOR has had Bawney Fwank on his show twice. Princess Megwin Kelly just had Debbie Wasserman-(Sgt.)Schultz on her show this week. Has MESS-NBC ever had any republicans/conservatives on any of their shows to match that? I'll wait.....

By Robert Cox on February 27, 2010 11:19 AM
Keith better not get fired. I am still paying off the loan to pay for the OlbermannWatch logo.

Well, I guess we could then use his tactics by still dissing him until your loan is paid off even though he will have no relevance whatsoever. Give him some of his own medicine as he's been doing with Cheney every night.

Each night we could have different contests as to what we thought were his worst moments: his worst lies...then another on what was his worst faux pas...then another on his best crocodile tear segments... another on his worst rip and reads...his fake friendships...his anti-Americanism...examples of his cowardice...his worst Special Komments...his most ridiculous WPITW...

My God it's endless, and wouldn't surprise me if we went more years covering all his deceptive antics then we have covering his show. Yeah, you won't have to worry Bob about paying that loan off that's for sure.

Not to change the subject but, I heard this on morning joe that MSNBC now means "Must Show Nothing But Curling" so maybe keith and thee gang are all gone.

Could the dream come true? Will Olbermoron be fired? We can only pray. You can call me cold but I don't buy the dribble about his father. I don't think he give a squat about his father. A man as pampas and narcissistic as Keith would not let his father's illness get in the way of his career. He obviously knows that he is going to be fired soon and he wants to get sympathy from his "audience".

No Factor, you could only be cold or heartless if you didn't know the background of this phony. Being that you do and everybody on this site knows this as well, it would actually be cold if you said you felt sorry for him. That would be hypocritical and brutally cruel to his father.

Rest assured this is simply a sociopath who's only concern in his life has always been him, who not only suffers from narcissism, but delusions of granduer as well, and this latest tactic to garner sympathy from his adoring idiots by using his father's illness is just another sad example of who he really is.

May his father finally rest in peace when the time comes, and that would mean with the Ape Ruler nowhere near him so he can achieve it.

Keith-O ain't gettin' fired, you all can put that fantasy to rest. Heck, if Glenn Beck can lose triple-digit amounts of advertisers and still have a radio and TV show, then I seriously doubt Keith-O's taking a walk.

Besides, if he were to get fired, he would probably be easily picked up by another channel, and he does comment on the Daily Kos.

"You can call me cold but I don't buy the dribble about his father. I don't think he give a squat about his father. A man as pampas and narcissistic as Keith would not let his father's illness get in the way of his career. You've got to be kidding me. I don't know whether to laugh or shake my head in disbelief and disgust.

"No, and again without the blinders you'd notice how he takes EVERYTHING out of context, and I mean EVERYTHING as he never shows the COMPLETE quote or video of someone he hates. The time he said that Bill O'Reilly said something to the effect that the girl who got killed while being out late one night deserved to be killed."

Now let me ask you this, how do you take what he said out of context?

"Yeah right, and I'm sure you loved that lie, because in effect what Bill said was that she was taking a chance being out that late and being drunk"

That doesn't provide any context to "she was asking for it" AT ALL.

""reinforce his claims" yeah, to you I guess that means repeating the same message over and over again by showing the shortened audio or video clip and that's all the "reinforcement" he needs? How about having someone on his show that disagrees with all his vile and lying "facts" to even...try...to discredit his claim? Sending Jesse and Porter to interview someone while taking their kids to the playground? Isn't that what he does when he wants to challenge someone? Every once in a while it backfires like that one interview with Bill Moyers from a couple of years back.

"So as we can see Keith is all class. Of course none of this has to do with Cheney's heart attack, Keith let Ed Shultz handle the jabs this time. Surely you have heard how Ed, a fellow MSNBC host joked about ripping out Cheney's heart and kisking it around like a football? Months before the fact. THIS is an example of taking things out of context.

Attn: MKDAWUSS, your dribble is causing many of us here to wonder if you are one of MikeH's twins. What have you been smoking? Your defending of the most ignorant person on cable is beyond belief. Keith Slobbermann has no class and never will. As has been said here by myself from earlier posts, we ran Slobbermann out of Los Angeles and now he ran himself out of all markets with his vile, irresponsible, non factual, socialistic, non debating, looser of an asshole television person. Slobbermann has been challenged by many and hid behind his mommies skirt. Now he's using his dying father as a tool for something he knows is a loosing argument. To you MKDAWUSS, you need to come up for air sometime and wakeup to reality. You progressives from the left may have had your moment but the time has come for you to go and be gone. Hell, look at how many Dems are walking, quiting, getting out early, waking up to what's in store for them, and so on and so on. As the sign down in Texas with George Bush says " Miss me Yet?"It aint over till the fat lady sings. Thank God for the Tea Party and what it's doing for the REAL People of the U.S.

first off snding reports out to do ambush journalism is not new. you maybe to young to remember 60 minutes doing this stuff. just showing up unannounced to get a comment about something. Now, spring training is starting up. maybe keith between vists to his sick father will take a trip to fla. He will proably use the excuse that he used when he went to the baseball game after his mother passed away. as far as being hired some where YOU HAVE TO BE F*@KING KIDDING. maybe some to-bite cable news show thats about it. lately KO sems to be getting even with people he dislikes. He must know that he is being fired so get his last licks in, and feel sorry for him my dad is dieing so do not attack me. Keith the end is near.

What credible news channel or any channel is going to pick him up? Fox News won't have him. ESPN won't have him. Maybe CNN, idk. He might get a job hosting on the Home Shopping Network, maybe. So tell me MK, what kind of news channel or network is going to put this idiot on the air?

Hey Rob, I have the answer to your question of who would hire Bath Tub Boy. Answer.... Air America. Oops, that right, they went off the air like all of the rest of the progressives out there. Loosers, loosers, loosers. That's what happens when you don't think logical. That's what happens when you mooch off of other peoples money. Unions have broken this country. Democrats are major supporters of unions. Democrats think that illegals from south of the border are good for this country...NOT. Wake up you idiots. Again, Thank GOD for the Tea Party movement waking up this country. Just look at the state of California. It's gone down the drain due to democratic control, illegal mexicans running ammuck, unions within every school district and city government. What did you people expect? I for one am glad I moved from there to a State that has there shit together. Yes, Obama told everyone how he was gonna give us all change. Well everyone, that's exactly what we got...POCKET CHANGE. Change you can believe in..NOT..

Wake up you fools, the sunami is coming to a town near you.

MKDAWUSS what is wrong with ambush journalism? In my state it's the only way local stations can get answers out of the embarrassment called The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. You are against corruption aren't you? Against judges and prosecutors letting rapists free? Who cares if someone interrupts a judges playtime with their children after they let a baby rapist out on bail? Who cares if a newsman interrupts a state worker (i.e. salary paid with tax money) out doing errands when he's supposed to be on the clock doing his job?

Now personally I don't think this report about the champion of the progressive movement getting canned is true (GE probably doesn't give a damn about NBCU anymore), but you can't deny that it is once again following the same old pattern. His first stint at MSNBC? ESPN? Do either of these ring a bell?

I challenge you to oppose these statements I've made as opposed to "well I don't know jack about ratings so maybe I shouldn't have said anything". like you did before. Actually if you did say that it'd be great, but it's much more fun to debate.

Don't we all just love it when some jackass like MikeH comes along?

SoCalRightist not to nitpick but your tsunami reference could not have come at a worse time.

You should see what the unions have done to my state, Rhode Island. It's so small they pretty much have complete control of the state and it's 12% unemployment rate.

cjflan32, I hear you. I retired after living in Long Beach and Orange County for 50 years out there. A few hours ago I was watching Fox news and they did a camera shot of Long Beach on the water kind of close to the Queen Mary and it showed the water where we use to dock our boat, way down due to the Tsunami pulling the water out. It showed all of the big cargo ships out in the ocean past the breakwall for safety, aimed towards the south and east with their bows.
Anyway. Yes the Unions out in Cali have wiped that state dry. The unemployment rate is just as high out there as it is where you are at. Cali can thank all that stuff on people like Boxer, Pelosi, Waters, and the rest of the morons that have wiped out that state. We're in Northern Kentucky now since 2003 and could not be happier. We might be called hilljacks, but we're happy hilljacks. We like ridin our cruiser motorcycles out here in large groups. We display our flags, and we don't take crap from no one. Where there are what's left of union jobs out here are being outsourced to people like me who are non union and proud to work those jobs. And that comes from a major utility co. that is outsourcing everything they have. That just goes to show that these union companies have outspent themselves and have looked to there only alternative.

Sending Jesse and Porter to interview someone while taking their kids to the playground? Isn't that what he does when he wants to challenge someone? Every once in a while it backfires like that one interview with Bill Moyers from a couple of years back...MKD

No, and once again you go to changing the subject, as I was not talking about "ambush journalism," as I was clearly talking about when BILL states a fact about somebody he asks them on his show to refute his claim. Sharpton, Frank, and hundreds of others. Clearly you knew what I meant here MKD. Even if Bill's invites are not accepted, as most do not as they know he's got the goods on them, at LEAST he offers them a chance to debate their side.

Stick to the argument MKD, because when you change it, it only makes you look foolish like your Ape Ruler.

Once again, the subject was: Olbermann yells from his pulpit defaming anybody he wants, and never has anybody on to defend themselves from these lies. My example to prove what an honest journalist will do is what O'Reilly does as he states facts about somebody and then INVITES THEM ON HIS SHOW TO DEFEND THEMSELVES SOMETHING THE COWARD OLBERMANN WOULD NEVER DO. I never said anything about "ambush journalism". Whether they come on or not is not the issue, as it is ALL about the invite.

You're losing bigtime here MKD. What a sham.

"Keith-O ain't gettin' fired, you all can put that fantasy to rest. Heck, if Glenn Beck can lose triple-digit amounts of advertisers and still have a radio and TV show, then I seriously doubt Keith-O's taking a walk."

Why do you bring up Glenn Beck? Beck has three times the audiance Olbermann has, including the key demo. So what if a bunch of companies pander to the insane left and pull advertisment. Beck still has plenty of advertisers paying for the audience he brings in.

"Besides, if he were to get fired, he would probably be easily picked up by another channel, and he does comment on the Daily Kos."

What channel will have him? He has been fired from ESPN, Fox and soon to be MSNBC, you think CNN wants him? Maybe Al Gore's channel will pick him up and since they don;t care about ratings he may be just what they want.

"You've got to be kidding me. I don't know whether to laugh or shake my head in disbelief and disgust."

How about a little of both? If Keith is a true narcissist like many believe he is then one of the traits would be to put on a false face of grieve in order to achieve what he wants, people paying attention to him. I am not a phsycologist so I can not say for certain if he is a true narcissist but hif you ever read the signs on how to pick one out he fits most of them.

"Now let me ask you this, how do you take what he said out of context?"

I don't even understand the question here. Are you making the accusation that people are taking Olbermann out of context? If so do you have any examples?

"That doesn't provide any context to "she was asking for it" AT ALL.

""reinforce his claims" yeah, to you I guess that means repeating the same message over and over again by showing the shortened audio or video clip and that's all the "reinforcement" he needs? How about having someone on his show that disagrees with all his vile and lying "facts" to even...try...to discredit his claim? Even better, as O'Reilly will do everytime he is challenged about his facts, have that same person he called out ON his show? "

Sending Jesse and Porter to interview someone while taking their kids to the playground? Isn't that what he does when he wants to challenge someone? Every once in a while it backfires like that one interview with Bill Moyers from a couple of years back."

What is this? Distractions? This is not a defend Bill O'Reilly websight but a Keith Olbermann reality tour websight. Plus the whole thing here is incomprehendable. Are you accusing O'Reilly of having people on he disagrees with and this is bad?

"Months before the fact. THIS is an example of taking things out of context."

Just wow. Are you Ketih Olbermann in disguise? I mean lies like that is something I would expect from Keith. Or is it that you really think February 25, 2010 was months ago? I am really curious what source you used that said this was from months ago.

    http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2010/02/msnbc-talker-lets-rip-out-cheneys-heart.html

pewp_head, people like MKDAWUSS bring up Glenn Beck because they assume we're just a right wing CONservatives who watch Fox News religiously and it would hurt our feelings if they made fun of Beck. And because they have no other recourse.

I got into a discussion with some guy at TVNewser asking him to defend Olbermann and he went into a rant about Beck, Rush and BillO being racist. What? The only one in that group I pay attention to is O'Reilly and there's absolutely no evidence he's a racist. I think those three guys and Hannity are assholes, but not nearly as big as Olbermann. Calling Olbermann a bully is an insult to bullies. At least bullies have the balls to get in your face and beat you up for your lunch money.

Anyway the point is they toss Beck out there because Olbermann, at this point, cannot be defended. Shift gears basically, like Wolverine pointed out.

In the words of the great Ann Coulter "Keith Olbermann is a woman."

Chris Wallace is a LIBERAL? Where do you get that notion?

    http://mediamatters.org/search/tag/chris_wallace

That sounds like a liberal to you?

So what if Chris Wallace isn't a liberal. I wouldn't watch his show if he was a liberal. Everyone here knows that mediamatters isn't a reliable news source and we pretty much don't care what the people at mediamatters thinks about Fox News or conservatives in general. MK, when you bring up mediamatters on here,we all laugh at you out loud.

Bill O'Rielly went to the School of Journalism at Harvard. Keith O went to the Cornell Ag school for a communications degree. Who is the credible journalist here?

"its because there's obviously a double-standard between the personalities and FNC and EIB and those at MSNBC not named Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan."

What "obvious" double standard? I understand that Rush is a massive bloviator and Beck is a fear monger but when have either of them said anything as bad as "mashed up meat bag with lipstick" or stood there while Janeane Garofalo called conservatives of color "self-loathing individuals" nodding in approval?

And please don't use Rush's racist quotes that were found on Wikipedia and retracted by just about everyone. Or Beck's POTUS is a racist remark that, while far fetched in my opinion, were based on what Obama said about TrooperGate and his grandmother being a "typical white woman".

As for Wallace, he has described himself as a card-carrying Democrat but you wouldn't know that because he's very professional. Reporters are supposed to keep their biases to themselves. But since you recently compared Countdown to the primetime nightly news broadcast I doubt you'd understand that.

I also want to thank you for dodging my earlier post about Olbermann's work history and ambush journalism. It was very telling about you.

Again if you try to insinuate that Chris "tinlge up my leg" Matthews is a conservative then again pretty mush everyone outside of Beck and Hannity on Fox is a liberal. And a double standard? Media Matters attacks every news personality to the right of Stalin and is regularly used as a source by the hacks at MSNBC. How many times have you heard olbermannwatch used as a source by Fox?

There's more than the ones you list, 12. How about Joe Trippi, Geraldine Ferraro, Martin Frost, Ellis Henican, Douglas Kennedy, Dennis Ross, Ellen Ratner, etc. And how could you forget Bob Beckel?

But why does the discussion always get steered away from Olbermann's bias and lies and onto Fox? It's almost like Olby is indefensible so the only defense is to change the subject.

Also Dr. Marc Lamont Hill and Al Sharpton.

Dr Hill and Rev Al are not paid FNC contributors, but they might as well be as they show up regularly enough.

Another crazy Komment by Keith. This time Cankles addresses the "thrill up my leg" statement by Chris Matthews...and throws in more "racist" remarks about the Tea Parties and Fox News:

"As surely as with the "thrill up the leg" remark last year about Obama's oratorical gifts, it was praise inartfully phrased. He was praising the country for its growth. My bone with that statement was, of course, the percentage of the country which hasn't grown at all and now shows up at Tea Parties or watching the anchors-of-color-free zone of Fox, to get reinforcement that their blind anger against the president is colorblind anger.

    Only it ain't."

    *******************************************************************************************************************************

OK? "Thrill up my leg" was actually a statement of praise for the country???

So if you don't get a "thrill" up your leg you haven't "grown at all". You then proceed to go to Tea Parties and watch the white anchors on Fox News because you are angry at the president....but it is not "colorblind anger" because you are a racist.

You see, according to Olby, you can only disagree with the president if you:

    1) Are a liberal Democrat
    2) Watch the racially diverse MSNBC
    3) Don't attend any Tea Parties
    4) Don't watch Fox News

Otherwise you are a racist. So just sit down, shut up and let the liberal Democrats decide what's best for you because you are stupid. Don't you dare question the president or his policies unless he is a Republican with the last name of Bush.

Another flat out LIE but he takes it a step further by stereotyping millions of people into a single category....racists.

C'mon Keith, how long are you gonna play the race card? It's getting pretty old. But I guess when you can't defend the president or his policies with hard facts there isn't much else you can do.

    Pathetic (again)
