Seems like an odd editorial decision to constantly feature and plug a writer when the vast majority of decision makers at ESPN hate him. Then again, Edward R. Olbermann seems to have a skewed viewpoint on what being successful means. Apparently being banned from company owned property makes him a sports God, but having the most popular blog on the most popular sports affiliated website makes Simmons a talentless hack.

Also, Simmon's best selling sports book apparently has nothing on Olbermann's own best selling sports book. Just how superior is Mr. Olbermann's best selling sports book? Let's take a look at the Amazon.com book ratings.

Perhaps when Countdown gets canceled soon you can fall back on your critically acclaimed talents as God of the sports universe.

In regards to Olbermann's claim that there has been a substantial amount of web chatter regarding ESPN ditching Simmons, a google and yahoo search finds absolutely no reference to this. If anything, all of the articles I found from various media outlets talk about the leverage that Simmons has due to him authoring 2 best sellers and having 1.1 million followers on Twitter.

I will give Olbermann credit here though. He knows that he is so hated by ESPN that the executives know they cannot reference his name or likeness in any way possible. Therefore, it's extremely unlikely they will bother refuting his latest accusation that they are contemplating cutting Simmons from their lineup. With ESPN being the only credible factual reference in this feud, Olbermann gets free range to snipe away with all his normal lies and smears with little possibility of being confronted. This jerk has mastered the art of smearing people without dealing with the consequences.

Whenever I think about the future career arc of Olbermann, I can't help but compare him to Craig Kilborn. Another "critically acclaimed" sportscaster who moved on to greener pastures (the Daily Show and the Late Late Show), only to have his demanding personality come back to bite him. Much like Olbermann, I have heard that many of his producers and guests on his shows found him difficult to work with.

So what exactly has Kilborn been up to? Nobody really knows, he claims he voluntarily resigned fro the Late Late Show even though there were leaked statements from executives which counter that portrayal. Sure, he has made a couple of oddball appearances in movies, but he has slowly drifted away from the public eye. With his latest tirade against Simmons, can anybody really think a job Edward R. Olbermann will be able to hold after MSBNC declines to renew his contract? He has no friends left from his days as a sportscaster, and lord knows how low he will go in the next couple of weeks at MSNBC. He takes all legitimate criticism against him as personal attack which cannot be tolerated, and shows a propensity cover up lies with more lies when the truth doesn't suit his worldview. What employer outside the delusional liberal left will want to employ him?
