We often hear the notion expressed that while Keith Olbermann may not know much about politics, or geography, he's really a whiz at sports, particularly baseball. Because, you know, he has the bestest baseball card collection in the whole wide world...at least in the possession of someone over 21 years old. But in truth, Edward R Olbermann is as reckless and irresponsible regarding baseball as he is with more serious matters.
It wasn't that long ago that Oralmann smeared Hispanic ball player Albert Pujols and Chris Mihlfeld, his trainer. You can read the sordid details here, but the story tracks what Krazy Keith does every night on The Hour of Spin: he lifts a story from a blog, doesn't bother to verify it, then runs with it as fact. Yeah, that worked out real well, didn't it?
Of course things get really dicey when Monkeymann decides to ignore the Separation of Sports and State and intermingles his maniacal political jihads with baseball. His latest gem began on twitter and was reinforced on Thursday's Hour of Spin, and it is more moronic smears from the infamous, deplorable one:
It didn't take long for knowledgeable baseball observers to see what Olby was doing here: smearing all the Hispanic players on the Diamondbacks as sub-par, just to prop up one of his tired Daily Kos talking points. The reaction is best summarized by The Sports Retorter:
Miguel Montero, the Diamondbacks' catcher is from Venezuela. Montero arguably would have been in contention for the 2010 All-Star Game if he hadn't injured his knee early in the season. Montero hit .294 last season with 16 home runs 59 RBI and a .832 OPS. Not shabby numbers by anyone's account. And what about Gerardo Parra? The young Venezuelan had a breakout season in 2009 batting .290 with 5 home runs, 60 RBI and a .729 OPS in just 120 big league games. He was so good that he finished even received votes for the NL Rookie of the Year.
Not enough? What about the former face of the franchise? The man who was responsible for the greatest moment in Arizona sports history and is now a special assistant to the general manager? Does Luis Gonzalez not count in Mr. Olbermann's estimation? Gonzalez is a Cuban American, and was a fantastic player in his day, representing the Diamondbacks in five MLB All-Star Games.
Greg Esposito has much more to say about this, so read the whole thing. And ask yourself what kind of a "journalist" will smear the reputations and denigrate the abilities of these Hispanic ball players just to backstop a phony partisan political talking point? Maybe the kind who never could make the team, couldn't even serve as bat boy, and to this day can't even drive a car? Ya think?

Evan Gahr is reporting on a recent encounter with Tom Brokaw in a Manhattan bookstore. Asked to comment on Olbermann's recent purge of Donnie Deutsche after the ad-exec-turned-talkshow-pundit was booted off the air by Olbermann after a special aired lumping Olbermann in with Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly.
Brokaw was at the 66th and Broadway Barnes and Noble last night to moderate a discussion with musician Peter Buffet, son of Warren Buffet, about his new book, Life is What You Make It....after Brokaw left the event room Gahr cornered him and said how do you feel about Olberman getting Donny Deutsch kicked off MSNBC. Brokaw said, "I don't go there," patted him on the arm like a frisky dog and walked away.Long time readers know, OlbermannWatch began as an off-shoot of the old "The National Debate" site after we published a series of articles on how Olbermann was taking NBC News down a path that would prove an embarrassing legacy for long-time anchor Tom Brokaw who retired at that time (December 1, 2004). Blast from the Past: MSNBC DEFINES DEVIANCY DOWN AS KEITH OLBERMANN'S INTERNET-FUELED JIHAD ON JOURNALISTIC ETHICS CONTINUES
The infamous, deplorable one thinks he is the next incarnation of Edward R Murrow. But we don't think the estimable Mr Murrow would lift alleged 'news stories' from wacked-out conspiracy websites and the present them on air. Yet that's exactly what Herr Olbermahn did on Monday's program, as he relentlessly hyped his breaking news: Sarah Palin's testimony at the email hacker trial just might be perjury. Oh, and in case you didn't get the idea, he repeated the word "perjury" over and over in hyping his breaking news. That is until his guest showed up to pour cold water all over Krazy Keith's latest scoop:

Uh oh. Guests aren't supposed to embarrass Oralmann in front of millions...well, make that thousands of viewers. Will he be permitted back on OlbyPlanet soon? Only time will tell. But poor Mr Weigel was swiftly turned on by the denizens of the wacky site Monkeymann lifted his 'news report' from. So what was this reliable source used by Edward R Olbermann? The subtly-titled (and substantially fictitious) Palingates. And while KO has gone to some odd wells in seeking the most unreliable 'news' available, this is the first time he's relied so heavily on a conspiratorial site this loony. One that claims Sarah Palin faked her pregnancies, and pores over grainy photographs as if they were the Zapruder film to expose the truth about the Trig pregnancy. Yes, Keith Olbermann's latest source for news is a Trig Truther site. What's coming next from the infamous, deplorable one? The real lowdown on who brought down the Twin Towers? Maybe an hour-long special with George Noory on the UFOs who are behind it all?
Who would have guessed that the once-esteemed news department of NBC would end up being humiliated by an incompetent sports guy masquerading as a 'journalist', lifting stories from crackpot websites and further dragging the Peacock reputation through the mud?

You may find this segment from the eeevil Glenn Beck of interest. There are several familiar clips shown, including the famous "You're a Fascist!", screamed by Edward R Olbermann at the President of the United States. Glenn Beck puts the rantings of Herr Olbermahn and others in context:
As further show prep for tonight's Hour of Spin, check out this column from sure-to-be-worst-person-nominee David Zurawik. Even though he is a liberal, Zurawik finds MSNBC "Irresponsible" for giving air time to Keith Olbermann, whom he likens to a modern-day Joe McCarthy. Oh, and watch for this guy on tonight's show. He's just a comedian of course, but by sheerest coincidence a comedian who writes for the Huffington Post and is involved with "Laughing Liberally". Yes, on OlbyPlanet, even comics must conform to Monkeymann's politics or they will not be allowed to appear in the presence of the infamous, deplorable one.

It's too bad A-Mess-NBC has cracked down on Joe. Because it would have been fascinating to hear what Scarborough would have said if he didn't have to worry about Edward R Olbermann demanding that he be kicked out of 30 Rock. The clip from this morning's broadcast:

Inside Cable News connects the dots on MSNBC's glaring double standard:
The manner and zeal in which Olbermann deals with trolls and detractors is interesting. It's interesting not because of the way he does it but because it echoes an infamous incident someone else from MSNBC had a few months ago. And I have to wonder if David Shuster is looking at Olbermann's tweets and thinking to himself if they're going to allow that then why did he get his twitter privileges revoked...
How about that, Olbermann getting special treatment. Whoda thunkit? And his twitter account is so full of perceptive insights. Like when he exults in a comparison of how many followers he has:
Or plugs an as yet nonexistent book:
How about accusing (without evidence) Sean Hannity of stealing money from charities?
Recall that all Shuster did was state that James O'Keefe, who had been arrested and charged, was guilty and would go to jail. But at least Shuster was talking about a real case, an actual investigation--even though he was predictably wrong about how it would turn out (or he wouldn't be Shuster). But Judge Olbermann's rulings on Sean Hannity (other than the one where he crows about having more followers) are completely out of left field: there is no criminal investigation, let alone a pending charge. In fact, no such accusation of pocketing money has been made by anyone, other than in Krazy Keith's fevered fantasties!
A-Mess-NBC was pretty quick to yank Shuster off Twitter, for much less than what Edward R Olbermann is perpetrating day after day. It sure seems like the peacock "news" channel has a double standard: different rules for different fools.

The greatness that is Keith Olbermann is so far beyond that of mortal men that it's almost like a god coming down to earth when he graces the rabble with a few of his immortal tweets. And Edward R Olbermann has a favorite topic: no, not Palin, or O'Reilly, or Beck, or even Obama. Nothing so warms the cockles of Olby's heart as talking about...himself! His achievements, the swells who know him and fawn over him, and of course the great and near-great who hang on every word uttered on The Hour of Spin. Submitted for your consideration, just a few examples of Oralmann on his favorite subject:

We noted yesterday how the twitter hashtag #bathtubboy was driving Keith Olbermann to exasperation. Today he kicked it up a notch, telling someone (as he was blocking them from following OlbyTweets):
Keith really is the new Edward R Murrow, isn't he? Perhaps he'll become even more discombobulated when he hears John Gibson's retort to his sophomoric attacks. We have the audio for your listening pleasure:

So how's that twitter thing working out for Olby? Not so well. A tweeter had some unkind words for the infamous, deplorable one, but what really seemed to set him off was a new hashtag that has appeared. (Hashtags are used to mark tweets with a key word, like #glennbeck, so interested folks can see all the tweets on that subject.) When one @robsolo mentioned Edward R Olbermann in a tweet, he included that new hashtag we mentioned: #bathtubboy. That so got Oralmann's panties in a bunch that not only did he send off a snarky insult to @robsolo, he also blocked the guy (noting it with the #Beeseeing you tag) from following OlbyTweets! Plus it seems like @robsolo is not the only one Mr Courageous is blocking...

Great thanks to our friends at Broliath for this glimpse into the mindset of the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann and his pals at A-Mess-NBC:
Discuss, resolve, and then prepare for another week of Edward R Olbermann. For additional pre-show prep, check out the Daily Caller's Olby week in review. Plus you might get some hints about tonight's Hour of Spin from Monkeymann's shiny new twitter account (if you can stomach reading the most egregiously self-absorbed tweeter in the known 'verse). An MSNBC spokesman said on Friday that Mr. Shuster’s test was “unacceptable” if true and that he would “be punished appropriately.”Inside the CNN Stockroom: Network Recently Shot Pilot Staring MSNBC's Shuster and NPR's Martin
A funny thing happened to Edward R Olbermann when he made his Big Return to Countdown last week. Well, maybe not funny to Olby, but we can't imagine that Larry O'Donnell wasn't smiling at least a little bit. O'Donnell hosted The Hour of Spin for four days the previous week, and we compared his ratings with the same four days of the following week hosted by the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann. The numbers tell the story:

Ouch! Do you suppose MSNBC's bosses at Comcast are looking at numbers like these? Could they be wondering why they should pay an exorbitant salary to Krazy Keith, with all his high maintenance idiosyncracies, when they can attract more viewers for much less cost with their new best friend Larry?
Of course neither of them comes anywhere near the eeevil Mr Bill, but when it comes to bang for the buck, will MSNBC continue to pour money down the Olbermann rat-hole? Discuss, resolve, and recap! Comments are open!
