Another month of Olbermann spin, and once again we poured through the MSNBC transcripts and tallied up the guest breakdown for The Hour of Spin. The results are startlingly similar to the sort of intellectual diversity you might expect to find on Radio Venezuela:

Some fun facts:
Comments are open!
MKDAWUSS, come on in and tell J$ this chart is wrong like you did with the last one.
And while you're at it, please tell us why your boy hasn't apologized for that horrendous Ark gaffe. You remember? That was the one you ignored last week. I know it's hard to keep track of all the things you ignore but if you could try to remember this one that'd be great.
I visited the Newseum in DC this weekend. What a trip. I expected it to be a pat on the back for the mainstream media but it was far from it. Truly a great place to visit.
I wonder how much it stings Olbermann to know he was completely omitted from this building. Hannity got some love, Beck, Rush, hell even Al Franken and Don Imus got mentions.
DISCLAIMER: I accidentally skipped past the Murrow exhibit, but I'm sure he wasn't there either.
First up Bobby B Reich, then some guy who is a oil industry expert who just happens to write for the Huffington Post.
What fools watch this show?
"MKDAWUSS, come on in and tell J$ this chart is wrong like you did with the last one."
Because you make it sound like all you hear is the Democrat viewpoint. If that were the case, then how come you hear lines like, "Meanwhile, Republicans on the House are saying..." "Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's responds with this..." and he proceeds to read a quote or air a clip.
"And while you're at it, please tell us why your boy hasn't apologized for that horrendous Ark gaffe. You remember? That was the one you ignored last week. I know it's hard to keep track of all the things you ignore but if you could try to remember this one that'd be great."
That'll come after Sean Hannity gets waterboarded and Glenn Beck apologizes to Sasha and Malia Obama.
MKDAWUSS
THIS. ISN'T ABOUT. SEAN. HANNITY. OR. GLENN. BECK.
This is about your man pretending he's the hot shit. Never mind the fact that your chiding those two for their opinions-wait a minute-why do you have such a hard time distinguishing between fact and opinion?
Moving on theoretically since he's better than Beck and Hannity he shouldn't be making dumbass mistakes. He thinks he's the best there is but when he makes a mistake it never happened. That how he plays it. That's how you play it.
And you still can't even admit he made a mistake. How the fuck is Bill O'Reilly WPITW for a judge slip he corrected IMMEDIATELY but you don't hold your own man accountable for his mistakes.
I'm arguing in another blog that MSNBC apologists can't defend MSNBC without bringing up Fox News.
You're a joke WUSS and you just proved it again. This has to be an act, you cannot be this ignorant.
Poor McGunniess. You try to spy on Sarah Palin and you're getting lambasted by Sarah's facebook fans (which I am a proud member of). Worst, you're not getting any dirt. I think The Palins should send the kids to grandmothers and then at 4 in the morning, give this jerk a XXX show. Cause a sex tape is the only thing this guy could sell. What is this a$$clown's credenticals in the press. Olby's only black friend Eugene is on.
Okay, they call the #3 story "publicity hound" and shows sister Sarah's picture like she's looking for it. I think the a-hole writer is the publicity hound.
That's not Ashley Judd's wonderful breasts bouncing up and down running down the pit lane at the indy 500 yesterday, it's you daily update for your Romance for morons crowd: TEE TIME!
Olby waxes poetic. ANOTHER SUE LOUDEN ATTACK!!!!! Attacks other 'tea party' members running for the seat in the republican primary. So in the last six countdowns, there have been 4 Louden attacks, one night he didn't do "Tea Time" and one, I can't remember. One note song is getting old.
Remembering those who lost their sanity watching this we dedicate this to you. It's the WPITW abstract.
Bronze: Campbell Brown: for having lousy ratings and callling Olby a liar. And talking about filler, on CNN? Were talking about MSNBC, who shuts down at 9pm fridays, puts in a loop of "To Catch A Predator" and "LOCKDOWN: RAW" and doesn't start up till 6 am monday. At least CNN has new shows during the weekend. And then Keith wishes CNN a happy 30th. He must have sent dead roses.
Silver: BECK-O: For calling social justice 'Evil'. Olby goes nuts. A jewish group accuses Beck of playing the Nazi card.
GOLD: Michael Savage: for saying that Obama is over his head and should resigned. I agree. He should resign. Keith should resign. EVERYBODY AT MSNBC SHOULD RESIGN!!!!
Another Award winning COUNTDOWN TO... well nothing really. I guess downloading Temco Bowl: Throwback. Beats watching this crap.
"And you still can't even admit he made a mistake."
I have admitted he's made mistakes before. He's admitted he's made mistakes before.
"you don't hold your own man accountable for his mistakes."
We do. Also, many of KO's fans and viewers disagree with him from time to time. I know I have.
BTW, aren't the ratings for May coming out in a couple days?

That just about encapsulates MKDAWUSS and the other apologists as succinctly as possible.

You should have finished that with "out of context."...like this: "and he proceeds to read a quote or air a clip out of context."
That would be better you disingenuous little S&^%.
"I have admitted he's made mistakes before. He's admitted he's made mistakes before."
I've been visiting this site for a couple of years, only rarely commenting. I don't think I've ever seen you do anything but clumsily dodge substantive argument. Now would be a great time to refresh our memory and show us a comment where you've done such a thing.
Oh, and I come here because I can't stand Olbermann. Not because I like Beck or Hannity. I don't like them, especially Hannity. BUT, I've never heard them claim to be anything other than a talk show personality or a host or editorialist. Keith Olbermann has the nerve to read off memorandums from the DNC, Media Matters, the Daily Kos, Huffington Post and call it journalism. And even more incredibly, he does so with a straight face.
Hey all! I'm a newbie. I've been watching and paying attention to the site on the sidelines for a little while, but tonight's episode truly made me boil. I don't know how often I'll comment or if I'll become as active as the rest of members on this site, but just know that there are readers out there that are aware of this site and are with you in spirit. :)
Now, onto Keith...
MKDAWUSS- will you denounce tonight's attack on Palin's use of the word ravished instead of ravaged? I think Keith needs to do a quick Google search and he will realize that he is truly the idiot.
Ravish, as defined by the Free Dictionary...
1. To seize and carry away by force.
This is pure butchering of the English language on the part of Keith.
Also, I can't remember what segment that it took place (possibly his attack on Campbell Brown), but he said something to the effect of making mistakes and correcting them. I literally burst out laughing at the hypocrisy in the statement. It's on in another hour, maybe I'll have the actual quote then. It was enough for me to think of his non-correcting of the Ark issue.
I did have to laugh when Eugene Robinson pulled the, "I wouldn't write a book in the same stalkerish way that McGinniss is doing" as it flummoxed Keith.
And from my understanding, GB has already apologized for his statement on the President's daughters.
Hey MKDAWUSS, when is Keith gonna apologize to Palin and her daughters for any of the grief that he's caused? *crickets*

You will notice that you did indeed types those words. Was it what you meant? Well maybe not, but in the land of Olbermann neither you nor anyone who agreed with you would be invited on to discuss the subtleties of what you really meant.
Also, it's June! Time to check in with Olby's attendance record:
January: 18 out of 20 days worked
February: 18 out of 20 days worked
March: 4 out of 23 days worked
April: 19 out of 22 days worked
May: 19 out of 20 days worked
None of the above include holidays
I didn;t see anyone mention it here but was there an explanation given on why Olby missed Wednesday of last week? It seems odd that they wouldn't have a guest host on. Me thinks Olby called in 30 minutes before the show to say he was quite literally stuck in the tub.
Another candidate for top 10 lie of the year. "We correct our mistakes," in reference to the "WORSE" for Campbell Brown. Laughable if it wasn't so blatantly dishonest and a complete misrepresenatation of him, his colleagues, and his network and the way they operate.
"We do. Also, many of KO's fans and viewers disagree with him from time to time. I know I have."
You are so full of shit.
Everytime he bombs like he did with that Ark reference you are nowhere to be found.
You show me where he apologized for that and I'll retract what I said.
MKDAWUSS does agree with us that Fridays with Thurber is stupid.
See? In Olby world one instance represents a trend.

Reading a few quotes from a right wing person, and then bringing on a left wing person to bash them....isn't exactly a balanced or fair view of things.
He never has anyone on to explain and defend the conservative view point. That is absolutely absurd.
Also. Just as a general question to MKDAWUSS. Look at that chart.
11 Democratic strategists. 0 Republican strategists. Why is that? I don't want to hear your excuse for why it doesn't matter. I just want to know why that is.
Why do you think Keith Olbermann never has conservatives on his show? (please don't bring up Mancow. He was only on to talk about a subject he and Keith agreed on).
The "he has experts!" excuse of yours is flawed because a Republican strategists is just as much of an expert as a Democratic strategist.
The "light instead of heat" excuse of Olbermann's is flawed because people can respectfully disagree with one another.
So. Why? Why no conservatives on his show?
Wow, a Michael Savage attack by Edward R. Olbermann. Normally the cable networks just leave him alone to talk about New York in 1940 and why taking 10 kilograms of vitamin C every 15 minutes will prevent the onset of some infectious disease from the 1800s. Michael Savage also doesn't participate in the game of never mentioning MSNBC and their hosts, it should be interesting to hear him rip into Olbermann tomorrow night. Does anybody actually remember the last time Olbermann attacked Savage? It seems like the last reference he has had on any cable news network was Glenn Beck interviewing him about autism way back when he was still on CNN.
"we correct our mistakes"? Must have missed that while I was LAUGHING MY ASS OFF!!!!!! Really, it fell off. Sorry I missed that guys. But like I said before, I do these on the fly.
Really, it's a bitch putting Krazy Glue on your own ass.
Campbell Brown Attack reactions:
NewsBusters
The Olby-lovin' (or benefit-of-the-doubtin') Mediaite
From TVNewser:
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/may_10_ratings_schultz_ratigan_hardball_boost_msnbcs_afternoon_163421.asp
"In primetime, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" dropped -6% in total viewers and -24% in the demo at 8 p.m., with the 10 p.m. rerun down -11% and -8%."
Ouch.
As for that huge Glenn Beck drop Olby was making fun of a few months ago:
"At 5 p.m. "Glenn Beck" was up +10% in total viewers and 25% in the demo, while at 6 p.m. "Special Report with Bret Baier" was up +8% in total viewers and +6% in the demo."
I have a feeling Olby will make note of this:
""The O'Reilly Factor" was down -6% in total viewers and -1% in the demo at 8 p.m. The 11 p.m. replay was down -9% and -14% respectively in total viewers and the demo."
Without regard to his own huge drops.
As for his Campbell Brown attack, making her statement all about him (big shock), methinks he protests too much.
He says it's easy to just read press releases to get an unbiased news report. He clearly doesn't get it, in the best tradition of the close-minded left. Shows such as O'Reilly's that offer multiple opinions are designed to arrive at truth through debate. That is, to not just present an opinion, but to explore the reasoning behind it. How does one arrive at this viewpoint or that, given the available facts on hand. Which facts are more important than others, and what is their context?
Olby makes a case now that his show promotes advocacy of the position he believes is the correct one (which somehow almost always turns out to be liberal/progressive/socialist). Which is fine, but doesn't really hold up if you never have anyone on to not necessarily challenge your opinion, but to challenge the facts upon which you base your opinion.
Without that essential element, Olby leaves his viewers no avenue for independent thought. He is just telling him what he thinks is true, and that they should believe him. His opinion essentially becomes his fact. This doesn't make him any better than the talk radio stars he regularly denounces (though they at least take calls and have guests who disagree with them). When governments do what Olby does, it's called propaganda.
Why should one give merit to the other side? Examining the opposing viewpoint may reveal facets of your position you didn't know before, or might help you strengthen your own argument. But to simply dismiss the entirety of an opposing viewpoint as without any merit from the outset is to blindly trumpet our own position without understanding — making one either a mindless follower of the faith, or highly arrogant. In Olby's case, I think it is self-evident that it is both.
"We correct our mistakes"
Has Goebells-Olbermann corrected his idiotic Arc comment yet?
Via the Olbsession's No Spin News, Forbes is reporting that Jeff Zucker is leaving NBCU. Are you reading this, Keithy?
The NYP - how many discredited stories about KO did they push again?
MKDAWUSS, please leave until you can prove all the bullshit you laid out last night, starting with when Olbermann apologized for the ark gaffe.
No comments on Hannity.
No comments on Beck.
No comments on how others don't apologize for their mistakes.
No comments on anything else.
Tell us when he corrected that mistake.
Justifying one individual's shortcomings by pointing out perceptions of similar activity in others is not a defense of the individual but an argument in favor of lower standards in general.
Since KO requires low standards to stay employed, his association with this tactic is not surprising
That's not Campbell Brown's tears from hearing Keith's insult last night. (really, what else could you do Keith? Her puppy wasn't available for you to kick?) It's your nightly update for the Bathing Salts for A-Holes crowd...... TEE TIME!
No Tee time, I guess he could find anything about Sue Louden tonight. Better luck tommorow, Keith. But that leads us to tonight's WPITW abstract. Why? Cause there is no good horse racing right now. Really, it's like TVG as it used to be.
Bronze: Unsub- driving a white hummer in a robbery. (unsub = unknown subject)
Silver: Arizona government for collapse of economy if Illegal aliens leave. Cites some fake report.
GOLD: BECK-O!!!! Once again Olby declares Obama's kids off limits(I bet Sister Sarah and Lou Dobbs are glad that you are not to involve family) and then accuses Beck calling out Obama a Nazi. Eludes to Glenn being back on drugs.
Another Award winning countdown to the season premire of Tosh.0 (It's like Countdown, but funny! Well, intentionally funny.)
