Oh that Obama! He didn't do what Olbermann told him to do. Krazy Keith spent yesterday hyperventilating about General McChrystal, telling the Prez not to accept his resignation, but instead "Keep him, Mr President". That way Obama will "neuter the political blowback" and "present a front of force and calm and intelligence".
But Obama didn't listen to Herr Olbermahn. Maybe the Prez was influenced by the writings at Keith Olbermann's blog, where they declared that McChrystal is a "monstrous thug", an example of the military's "pathological criminals": "half murderer, and all evil". Yes, our old friends at Daily Kos, recently described by member Olbermann as "a nice site".
But there's a bigger problem on OlbyPlanet. Obama went and appointed General Petraeus. You remember Olbermann on Petraeus, don't you?
Mr. Bush, you had no right to order General Petraeus to become your front man. And he obviously should have refused that order, and resigned rather than ruin his military career.... Mr. Bush, you have hidden behind the general`s skirts... That, sir, is not only un-American, it is dictatorial. And in pimping General David Petraeus, sir, in violation of everything this country has been assiduously and vigilantly against for 220 years...
But that's hardly Oralmann's most egregious insult to the General. You will recall the famed moveon "Petraeus Betray Us" ad, questioning the General's patriotism? The moveon folks have quickly moved to scrub that ad from their website. But as readers of Olbermann Watch have known for years, the Petraeus/BetrayUs smear was not thought up by moveon. Before their ad even appeared, the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann was impugning the General's patriotism live, on air, bellowing:
KEITH OLBERMANN, MSNBC HOST: Which of these stories will you be talking about tomorrow? The Petraeus report, less Petraeus, more Betray Us.
And just to make sure nobody missed the point, he put his slur right up on the tv screen:
Yes, Keith "Man on Fan" Olbermann is the author of Petraeus/BetrayUs. Moveon stole it from Olby. And now Monkeymann is about to go on the air and...do what? Slam Petraeus anew? Accuse Obama of pimping him? Repeat his "BetrayUs" smear? Or just pretend like none of that ever happened and gush over Obama's choice as if he was for Petraeus all along?
Place yer bets. Comments are open!
