MSNBC reaches 78 million-in the United States. FNC reaches 100 million in the states as well.

You asked how Red Eye is taking this. They're probably taking it pretty well considering come spring they'll still have more viewers than Olbermann does right now.

You want something to cheer you up? Assuming we have approximately 300 million people in this country, Keith Olbermann reached just over a quarter of the country and got 1.2 million viewers on a consistent basis with Countdown.

According to Current TV's Web Site they reach 60 million households in this country. That's 20 percent of America.

Mike, you honestly believe that viewership number is going to follow him?

This is my honest opinion: I do not see any way, shape or form that this man comes close to being as, ahem, "successful" as he was with MSNBC. Best case scenario is they siphon a few MSNBC viewers.

1. You, like a good portion of the world, probably just found out this network existed. Very few people (if any) saw this coming.

Unlike MSNBC which is on the basic tier in the vast majority of cable packages, CurrenTV is a premium digital (but not HD) channel that you have to pay extra to get. So the reach is waaay smaller than MSNBC had. It never shows up in the top 20 cable channels. You'll probably find it just a notch above The Carrot Channel.

Awwww shoot!!! Cox don't carry Current tv on our cable.... whatever will this world come too????

By the way, read somewhere that Comcast has a 10% stake in Current. Looks like Comcast is still going to be keeping an eye on Olberdork.

With a limited number of Current TV subscribers (and viewers), I can only make one prediction. Picture a toddler, pissed off at his parents and wading slowly through a kiddie pool. In order to get the attention he so desperately needs, I'm envisioned an all out flailing of the limbs, followed by screams and faked drownings. With his host network only hitting the airwaves in a small portion of the market, he will literally go off the deep end, in the hopes that the media will pick up on his over the top rhetoric and provide their viewers with some curiosity about his show. That's all he really can do, because he doesn't know how to make an interesting and intelligent show with debate and factual commentary.

Rush began his show with this story this afternoon. I doubt Olbermann will even touch Obama's ass anymore (by way of the mouth), it will be a non-stop Republican/Conservative hate fest. Rush, Hannity, Beck, O'reilly, Palin, Boehner, McConnell, and many many more, particularly the former President. I just have this feeling that there's a lot more he really wanted to say at MSNBC, but was either afraid too, or not allowed.

This is typical of someone who is able to find a job so quickly upon termination. Confidence creates a monster, and in Olbermann's case, it's hard to tell how far he is willing to go to get a viewer-ship worthy of his ego...

ryder, if that was geared towards my continued assault towards Carlos "MKDAWUSS" Lejjena then I have this to say:

I've made my goals against the idiot left and those who besmirch liberalism pretty clear by now. My ways stopped working a long time ago. It's time we tried it their way and expose them for the hypocrites they are. In Carlos' case maybe he's my "olbsession" but that's ok because it's what Olbermann did/will do to others. If MKDAWUSS has a problem with that then he's a hypocrite.

Regarding todays comments, MKDAWUSS once again put his foot in his mouth. This kid honestly believes this is a positive career move for Olbermann when the truth is it stinks of desperation on both ends. Current TV is tanking hard and this may be Olbermann's last chance at hosting a news program.

MKDAWUSS was the one who brought up Gibson and Gutfeld thinking they'd be upset but it's a safe bet they're gonna be chuckling about this today and tomorrow.

And as for Mike C., I'm only having fun with the guy. I understand why he's so pessimistic about this but I don't think there's anything to be concerned with.

I don't think Keith is the draw that some think he is. This isn't a top tier broadcaster joining an irrelevant network. This is a middle tier broadcaster joining an irrelevant network. People keep pretending that he was some juggernaut over at MSNBC, which just isn't the case.

As far as "loyal fanbase" I'm not sure where they get that from. How could they possibly know that at all? He's been on the same station for the last 8 years. What is giving so many the impression that he has a "loyal fanbase"??

I checked last night, and I don't get Current TV. I don't watch a lot of television, but still have a lot of channels, even so, Current is not one of those channels, and never will be.

CJ, this is the last I'm going to comment on the subject. MK has made it very clear that is he is an Olbermann supporter, ignorant, has bouts with hypocrisy, is an avid liberal, and perhaps pees his pants most mornings. It didn't take most people on OW long to learn that these are his qualities. I don't need to be reminded of it everyday, and trust me, he's giggling behind the scenes knowing that you're spending minutes of your day allowing his predictable comments to get under your skin.

Take the O'reilly approach, your better than MK, smarter than MK; so he's not worthy of yours, or anyone else's time. Unlike the KOS, this site allows differing opinion, welcomes it, but when it's the same tired bullshit day in, and day out, the only way to make it go away is to ignore it.
