The new and improved Hour of Spin featured the same sort of opening spiel as ever. A rant against the Libyan war, and a slam on Reagan: "He's dead and he was a lousy President". Clarence Thomas. Conservatives selling their souls, And already a special education comment: government by the people, not by the corporations...like the ones who sponsor Countdown. And greatest cellphone video ever, where the audio drops out for an uncomfortably long time. We're back on OlbyPlanet guys, so watch for attacks on Fox, Republicans, etc. But can the infamous, deplorable one find a way to actually bring up Bush for some primo bashing? Stay tuned!
#5 begins with "As I was saying..." Attack on Rove and Liz Cheney [ding!] for wanting to get the Libyan war over with by ramping up the strikes. Olby cites the Libyan foreign minister's condemnation of the USA. Yeah, his sources are stellar as usual. Keithy stumbles into an accuracy (it had to be inadvertent) regarding the Congress role in war-making. He says Dennis Kucinich (D) is suing on this point. Actually, Keith doesn't want to admit it but the lawsuit was not filed by just Kucinich but by a bipartisan group of ten lawmakers, both (D) and (R).
Then to explore the constitutional issues, who does Fat Ass bring on? Fatter Ass! Michael Moore, who is an expert in...what exactly? Never mind, at least he didn't joke about wanting a hurricane to kill Republicans, like he did the time Olby found it so funny. The discussion was about as illuminating as a burned-out black light, and of course since you can't take anything either one of them says at face value, it had no educational merit whatsoever. But it did serve a key Olbermahn purpose: they managed to swerve the topic to cherry-picking, torture, and--you guessed it--George W Bush! That's more of a stretch than Olby's vest but it was precisely where Oralmann wanted to go.
Then the special comment: contexualization, viewpoint, independence, malfeasance of Republicans, timidity of Democrats, and the obligatory obscure literary quote. This time: Harriet Beecher Stowe. And we were hoping for JK Rowling. But we're thankful for small favors: it wasn't Thurber.
Wow, the first break features ads from Lexus, Foster Grant, and Pradaxa (Big Pharma!). No corporatism here, eh Keithy? The break was interrupted by a typical tease: "Markos Moulitsas inside the Republican Cult".
The next story (apparently they're not being numbered as they were on A-Mess-NBC) is an attack on Clarence Thomas over 'reported' contributions to his wife and to a non-profit library. Now who better to analyze the ethics of a Supreme Court Justice than a convicted felon who is also a disbarred lawyer? That's right, it's John Dean lecturing others about ethics. Sort of like getting advice on modesty from Anthony Weiner. Sure enough Dean manages to bring Nixon into it. It must be noted here that both Olbermann and Dean focused their attack on the Supreme Court's black justice. Isn't this 'racism, straight-up?' Tease for an attack on Fox News. Talk about nostalgia! Man, it's like 'That 70s Show', only more horrible.
Second break: Ads from Microsoft bookend a lengthy promo for a Current football show. Somebody couldn't straight sell all their ad time?
Ooh goody, it's the Current version of Oddball, cleverly called...'Time marches on'. Gee, the first story is about...a Microsoft store. Now there's a coincidence. Then Hollywood dresses and Japanese robots. A tease for a Limbaugh attack ("right-wing radio talker").
Third break: Ford Motors, Zantac (Big Pharma!)...hey, good thing they're not delivering corporate news on this show, ain't it?
Attack on talk radio, complete with the obligatory mispronouncing of Mark Levin's name and cringe-inducing Oralmann 'voice impression'. Lonesome Rhodes [ding!]. Politico's Kenneth Vogel sacrificed any claim to integrity he had by appearing on OlbyPlanet to hype his report on alleged stealth advertising on talk radio. Monkeymann couldn't wait to compare it to 'payola', and expressed phony 'shock'. Vogel was Great Thanksed.
Fourth break: Chrysler motors, Geico, Spiriva (more Big Pharma!...it seems like we won't be seeing any pharmaceutical exposes soon).
KO once boasted that he was dropping 'Worst Persons' in a nod to the new civility, but here it is again. Bronze: Sarah Palin. (Congrats to all who picked Palin as one of the three. Olby is about as unpredictable as Pavlov's dog). Silver: Fox Noise [ding!] He bellowed that Fox 'deceptively edited' 'one key moment' from the Jon Stewart interview...how so? They edited the broadcast version, just as Stewart does, and posted the uncut version on line, just as Stewart does. Somehow, Edward R Olbermann failed to mention that Fox posted the entire unedited video online. Somehow Edward R Olbermann failed to mention that Fox's online video was the source of the clip he played! And his claim that they edited out 'one key moment'? Misleading: the unedited interview runs nearly 25 minutes, what aired is about 10 minutes less. A lot had to be trimmed to fit it into one Fox News Sunday segment, not just 'one key moment'. As usual, when Merkle attacks Fox News, it's not what he says, it's all the things he doesn't say, that prove him a liar. Gold: Some dumb cellphone video.
Fifth break: T Mobile, plus more Microsoft, Foster Grant, Chrysler ads. None of these are corporations of course, because Countdown would never take ads from corporations.
Final story: Inside the secessionist, racist Republican Cult...while running down these stories Monkeymann started talking at a mile a minute, because it was 8:57 and he still hadn't brought on GOP expert Markos Moulitsas. Too bad we can't do voice impressions here, like Oralmann does. But we'll try. Moulitsas: Jon Huntsthman ith not embrathed by the grathrooth. hith tough thlog ith pretty much impothible. Itth gonna be tough to untheat Obama. Olby monumentously announced he would go over the 9pm time, to allow Moulitsas to claim Joe Thcarborough hath veto power at M-Eth-NBC (which is why Markos hasn't been on MSNBC). Moulitsas lied, saying Thcarborough is the lowetht rated cable newth morning hotht. Funny thing, neither Markos nor Olby mentioned that Markos was banned for spreading a rumor that Joe Scarborough had murdered a woman in Florida. Funny that little detail didn't come up, ain't it? Moulitsas: I have a thick thkin. I'm happy that you're here, you get to call the shots, and I'm going to do everything I can to help you. (You know, like trying to convince people that Joe Scarborough is a murderer.)
Papers into the camera and the first Countdown is mercifully over.
It sounds that Olby is embracing the High (as in POT) journalistic ethics that made him a favorite at MSNBC!
It's going to be fun to tear this house down!
congratulations olby watch i'm sure you're very happy you still get to accuse KO of attacks and lies with attacks and lies. i'll be happy to see your pathetic excuse of a watchdog site and all the cronies that come here and demonize KO without ever proving him wrong of anything. I'll be back in a month after i stop spinning from what i've already read here thus far.
In the words of Mr. Soper, isn't it ironic (and I don't know if it is) that Matt "M-Ditty" Soper always talks about Johnny Dollar's "attacks and lies" but never actually mentions what they are.
Here's the last time (before tonight) J$ mentioned Olbermann's lies:
http://www.olbermannwatch.com/archives/2011/05/olbermann_lies_1.php#comments
If you could point out the "attacks and lies" in this post that'd be great. You can have the month to do it if you want.
Thanks a bunch, I'll see ya in a month.
Thanks Johnny for the re-cap. You don't know just how much it's appreciated by folks like me. I cannot stand to see that guy he is so repugnant I don't know how anyone can watch him. You got some stainless steel guts, man. :)
In case anyone was wondering... the Moon is in it's proper orbit and appears to be headed for another uneventful night. And we got a quick shot of rain today so the grass has grown about 1/64 inch since yesterday.
It's all good.
The biggest outright lie tonight was Markos claiming that Joe S is the lowest rated cable news morning host. He has more viewers than CNN or CNBC! That's not even close to being true. And because Olby hates Scarborough, he permits Markos to lie and does nothing to correct him.
There's your 'attacks and lies'.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, CHILDREN OF ALL AGES!!!!!!
Syvyn11 Inc. In association with Rob Horine (that's me) Productions present.......
LEEEETTSSSSS GETTTT READDDY TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK ITTTTTTTTTTT!
Returning to these webpages, it's the world famous (in my head anyway), Funny, irreverant, and just plain goofy...
Like when you mispress the wrong key 10 times and can't figure out why.... IT'S THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD ABSRACT!!!!!
Bronze: Sister Sarah- for the sin of trying to patent herself. How dare she protect her image. ONLY KEITHY CAN SMEAR HER AT ANY TIME!
Silver: Bill Salmon and Chris Wallace for reasons J$ gave above. Misinformation and lies rule at Olby land as usual. And it's intreresting that Keith didn't mention you could get the whole thing at FNC's website. Remember a few months ago on Fox News Watch, that Olby bashed them, for something Keith said was a 'outtake' but was really continuing the converstation on the website. Keith forgot to mention that it could be found UNEDITED on the website.
If it works against Breitbart, it will work against FNC, but it doesn't aginst both of them.
Current hasn't posted GOLD, but it seems it's stupid. So I'll end it here.
ANOTHER AWARD WINNING COUNTDOWN TO ALGORE'S NERVOUS BREAKDOWN!
I'm going to sleep. Kickoff at 4:20am.
@Johnny, that doesn't count. Soper clearly stated "attacks and lies" committed by Olbermann, not "attacks and lies" committed by his guests.
Also, that's the first I heard of Scarborough being accused of murder by Markos. I hope that's not true. I'd hate to put another dent in MKDABIGOT's "honest and reliable" sources argument. I don't think that thing can take anymore.
@syvyn, lovin' the Outlaws/DX intro. Yo' ass better CALLL SOME BOD YYYYY!!!
Here is what i thought of Olbys return ...
Well there oes the theory about putting lipstick on a pig to make it look good ....
not even lipstick could make olbermann look intelligent (except to maybe markos, and he has no tatse whatsoever )
Some thoughts...
Keith looked a little slimmer to me. Not slim, per se, but slimmer. Or maybe not quite so bulbous.
Maybe it was DirecTV, but was anyone else experiencing the show's volume at about 5 decibels but the commercials at about 500 decibels?
Could there have been a more non-story than the piece on "right wing talkers" who weave paid endorsements into their show? Wow. Is that why Hannity always leads off the segment after 4:30 eastern time with the Heritage Foundation? Who would have known?
Interesting how KO linked the unlinkable -- Walmart SCOTUS decision with some poorly explained donations/fundraising from some Texas real estate guy. This is a story...how? Maybe it is a story. At least explain it. Came off as a simple hit piece on Thomas. Good thing Dean was there to lend credibility. :-)
Did you know Countdown with KO is the gateway to heroin? Current says so.
And M-Ditty gets proven correct.
"And M-Ditty gets proven correct."
And you get proven incorrect.
I'm sure you recall when you said Olbermann only uses "honest and reliable" sources.
Well, Johnny Dollar has commented on two Markos lies tonight, hardly the sign of an "honest and reliable" source.
While you'll probably cry that lying about ratings "isn't a big deal," accusing someone of murder is.
Maybe after you pull your foot out of your mouth you should sew it shut.
While I'm at it, you're just as bad as he is. Take that link I gave him and tell us where the "attacks and lies" are. Particularly the lies.
Let me guess, posting lies on Twitter don't count right? What Olbermann gets wrong about his competition doesn't count right? This isn't important, so it doesn't count, right?
Clown.
My My... I watched the hour long show last night... some things surprised me. I'll try to make several short comments, and then hopefully I can stay away, as the show should have a warning on it that it will drive your crazy quickly.
1. WHAT? They Keith announced that they are going to do repeat showings of his 8 p.m. broadcast at 11:00 p.m. 2:00 a.m. , 4:00 a.m. 7:00 a.m. , 10:00 a.m. 12:00 noon, 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
He listed them off so fast, it sounded like he might be joking, but he's NOT!!!
9 showings a day!!!!!
He said, after the first week they are clamping down to 5 re-broadcasts. Still, that is 6 hours of Keith. 25%-38% of the station's airtime is devoted to this show?
Which time slot do you think will do best? And how do you think he will use that to report his ratings?
2. Johnny$ put up a good summary of the show. I also noticed the types of ads on display. At least on the 8 p.m. broadcast (Comcast), I seemed to notice different ads.
First, it seemed there were way more ads for Current TV, and several for Keith's show, than ads for third party products or organizations.
I saw a Microsoft commercial, and a couple of car commercials (Ford).
But the first one I saw during the 8 p.m. time slot was this one for "Wonder File"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ENaMx21MmQ
I can't imagine the station will stay in business with this type of prime time advertising. If they broadcast the show 6 to 9 times a day, and the ads don't pick up, Keith might be the financial downfall of Current rather than its savior.
Ok... last post... I think...
At the start of the show, I thought Keith might actually start being critical of Obama. He was listing off a bunch of stuff, not all positive about Obama. For example he was saying Obama went against the legal analysis of the Pentagon lawyers. BUT THEN, he said "Does this sound familiar?" and proceeded to blame Bush for doing something similar, and continued on Bush saying it was basically much worse. ugh... So Olbermann is not mad at Obama for the act, not even mad at Obama for doing something that Bush did, he's mad AT Bush for making something Obama did sound similar to what Bush did.
Then Michael Moore brings up the comparison between Bush and Obama. Obama went to war, because he felt in his heart it was the right thing to do. (Olbermann "I agree"). Bush went to war based on a lie FIRST (telling people don't come back until you tell me there is WMD). He says Obama never lied at all about Libya... then says..(not actual quote) "Well they may have lied a bit about HOW bad Gaddafi was and what he was doing, but that's it."
So wait, if MM really believes Obama lied about what Gadaffi was doing so USA could attack, he thinks that is no big deal? I'm convinced they do not know what they are saying.
To be fair, I believe they both did say that Obama should have gone to congress by now.
How many black people work at Current? Just a question...
http://current.com/shows/countdown/blog/countdown-staff-celebration
I see...2? About as many as you'll find at a Tea Party meeting of the same size...
CurrentTV, Currently a racist organization, this according to the qualifications made by the CNO (this title is so effing stupid) at CurrentTV. When do you think he'll make himself the day's 2nd and 3rd stories, and take the gold at least once a week in the WPITW?
Seeing that 97% of African Americans voted for Barrack Obama, and an overwhelming percentage consider themselves Democrats, you'd expect half of his staff to be black (especially given the population in NYC). Nope, I see all white faces. Mr. Olbermann...where...are they?
Pretty monochromatic on this set...
I couldn't stomach watching it longer than 10 minutes, but I had the feeling that Keith looked and sounded a little hysterical. Sort of like "hey, look, I'm back, and nothing is wrong with me, I'm as smart as ever and I'm going to prove it to you" type of look.
Are you serious, 9 repeats a day? Of course, he will add up all 9 shows viewers, add in the internet hits, and proclaim he had 4 million vieweres, double O'Reilly.
A little surprised he didn't slam Michelle Bachmann. Maybe tonight.
I see way more than 2 in that picture.
Yeah well you also see Markos the Liar as 'honest and reliable', so there's that.
"I see way more than 2 in that picture."
Get your eyes checked then. There's the black guy over Olbermann's left shoulder and the black guy under the POTUS picture. Everyone else is cracker-ass white.
Or not. Shame on ryder for missing the Middle Eastern looking fella second from the right, though that could be a shadow. If I recall Olbermann's famous "Where are the blacks?" rant didn't include them.
In any event ryder specifically said blacks and just in case you were wondering the POTUS picture doesn't count as a "people" so don't try to slither out of another one of your idiotic comments.
You seriously need a maternal figure in your life to slap the taste out of your mouth because you're truly incapable of telling the truth.
Way more than two? How many more is, "way more?" I see a black gentleman over Olbermann's left shoulder, and another in the back, just over his right shoulder. Perhaps one other person who's race, in this picture, is ambiguous. Also, do you notice the question mark following my comment? This suggests that I am not certain there are two, and that there may be another.
Olbermann math, if there are three, that's fifty percent more than I suggested, how about four? One hundred percent more African Americans in this picture...I was way off. How many do you see? I see a lot of white faces, bub...
I count approximately forty people in this photo, and two appear to black. Possibly three, a stretch at four. At best, 10% of his crew are black. The national average is 12.6%, according to the most recent census. Olbermann is petty enough to make the connection to racism in this particular fashion, I'm just making a point of how stupid it is to do so...
I don't think he's racist, but I do think his methods for characterizing others as racist is elementary and lacking any and all intellect. Your answer, suggests my assertions are ridiculous, now maybe you can understand what listening to Olbermann is like if you're a Republican. Besides being a complete joke, it's discouraging to consistently hear your positions quickly dismissed as racist or ignorant. That's what is so hypocritical and entertaining about this has been; he calls people names and rarely ever makes substantive claims, just childish banter and repetitive calls for resignation. That's what you define as intellectual and insightful reporting? Please...
Don't forget about when Olberdork attacked the Arizona Diamondbacks for being racists because, one, they resided in Arizona, and Arizona passed the evil illegal immigration law, and two, they had no "big name" hispanics on their team. It was such a ridiculous charge he was forced to backtrack on it within 24 hours.
By the way, take a look at www.keitholbermann.com. Seems that a couple days ago, he forced a NY Times reporter at a Yankees game out of his seat so that he would appear on the Fox Sports camera. Can someone say "narcicist"?
The weasel (Last name: Moulitsas First name: Markos) wasn't kidding. If you descend into his sewar of a website, up will pop a banner for a petiton for cable providers to treat Current like all the other cables. Keith is standing tall, fists clenched perched on his hips, head titled back and eyes closed. Markos is on all fours, head tilted up mouth wide open and somewhat full.
The left is imploding and desperate. The popcorn is popped and the party is at my house (where Current is blocked with the shopping and pay per view options.)
Another thing you'll see there: dozens and dozens of posts promoting the Scarborough-Killed-His-Staffer conspiracy theory...
http://tinyurl.com/3rxnpkv
Whether you like Joe S or not (and I can take him or leave him, and usually do the latter) this kind of loony character assassination is right up there with Area 51 (or whatever number it's supposed to be), UFOs, and 9/11 truthers. And 'journalist' Keith Olbermann has embraced it.
Does Markos also get off on the "Trig isn't really Palin's baby" stuff too?
Something J$ said over at The Place:
"Have to amend my earlier reply. I see from a post at Chickaboomer that she sez Current is not a Nielsen client. This means they are so low-rated that they don't subscribe to Nielsen. Ergo, we may not see any ratings whatsoever for months or years. Or...we'll have Olbermann spouting off numbers that no one can verify, created from who knows where."
Take it for what it's worth.
I don't THINK we'll see any Current numbers for the reasons stated above. There must be some sort of numbers somewhere, since it's been published that Current averages 23,000 viewers a night. But it could be those numbers are just quarterly things, or a monthly average, and Nielsen doesn't bother sampling Current every hour of every day. Why should they, if they aren't getting paid to do so?
Also, for these numbers to become public, somebody has to have them and then leak them to the public. I doubt the people who leak the nightly cable news ratings have any numbers at all about Current.
I was just about to ask you who came up with the 23k average.
Perhaps the only way we'll find out is by looking at the cable news channels covered by Nielsen to see if any significant amount of viewers were lost on a given show.
Or something like that.
Wow, has it been six months since Olbermann gave us an early X-mas gift by getting fired and yet the beast has surfaced...on a little fly by night network called "Current".
Last night was the first show, and if you missed the billion repeats over the past 24 hours, you'll realize that you didn't miss jackshit.
It was (in my opinon) a yawn fest, the old "act" all over again. With the lone exception of the gayest man on the planet....Markos Moulitsas.
I forgot how gay the man looked until last night. They even used the old background that he used when he was on MSNBC for Christs' sake. He had those bug eyes going last night, practically oohin and ahhin over Keith's return. Calling him a "National Treasure." Yeah he's a treasure alright, he needs to be buried forever!
I stayed up to see Morning Joe to see if Joe would reply to Kos' whiny little bitch rant last night, but I was glad he took the high road on that. Now we need to get Mika laid a few times by all the crew there. Damn, that woman is wound so tight I swear you can get a diamond out of that butt. :) But I digress...
I had forgotten how much Coundown sucked until last night. Oh and that supposed big ratings thing? We all knew they would come out bragging about it, but hey...first night. Once everyone sees that it's the same ole same ole, they'll go back to watching Bill or even worse...Lawerence.
